Amber yawned and leaned up. The sudden realization hit her like a train.
Where am I…? She pondered as she stood up and looked around. Where she stood, there were no trees, no roads, nothing. Just field, as far as the eye could see.
Amber took a few steps, before her foot hit something. An MVP body lay at her feet. Amber reached down and poked them.
"Hey! Wake up!" She groaned.
L slowly began to wake up. "Urrgh… What happened?"
"I don't know. I'm going to assume you don't know where we are either, so… what do we do?" Amber asked, clueless.
L stood and looked around.
"Man… where are we?" His eyes went wide. "What's that on your face?!"
Amber then noticed the weird substance on her face and wiped it off. She looked at her hand.
"Is that blood…? Who's blood is that-" She gasped. "OH SHIT! I know what happened!"
"Do you know where we are?" Luigi asked, excitedly.
"No, I still don't know that much, but Simon must have accidentally dumped us here after he used the drive! And… Michael's here, I saw him while we were falling!"
Luigi sighed. "Hm… If Alpha's alive, maybe he knows where we are. We'll just have to wander this… field."
"That could take hours in itself." Amber thought aloud, "There's gotta be a faster way."
"Considering all we have is our gear and each other, I'm not sure we can do this any faster. We could find him faster if we started looking sooner."
"Then what are we waiting for," Amber sighed, "let's get looking."
Two hours into their search…
"Anything?" Luigi asked.
"Nothing on comms and nothing on foot either. Maybe it's just us here."
Suddenly, the comms flicked on.
"Yeah, just finished searching there- but did you see that huge-ass swirly hole?! That thing's broadcast hit Martin from where he is!"
"Woah, really? You think we should check it out?"
Amber yelled into the comms. "Hello?"
"Who the hell was that?! Who's there?"
"Hello, we're stranded in some field! Can you help us?"
"Uhh… we could if you narrowed it down to a little more than ONE FIELD."
"The one under that huge-ass swirly hole you mentioned."
"Oh, that field. Yeah, just a sec, lemme contact our boss right fast… Yeah, we're on the way. If you haven't seen what a ship that can travel the multiverse looks like, it's a big, black-"
"I know what a ship looks like, now hurry!"
"Okay, geez, I was just askin'..."
Thirty minutes later…
A huge ship landed behind the duo.
"Somebody ask for a famous Gamma Corp. rescue?" A geared-up space pirate asked, before squinting at the two. "Is that MVP gear?!"
"Gamma Corp.?!" L and Amber gawked in unison.
"Wait, was this a trap, because I am armed!" He cried, opening his claws.
"No, this wasn't a trap, we're…" L stopped to think of a lie.
"Deserters!" Amber cut in, "We're ditching the MVPs."
"Oh, really?" The gamma pirate asked, before laughing. "Cool! Hop in, I'll take you to Omega!"
"What are you doing, you're gonna get us killed!" L whispered.
"It's better than sitting out here in a field, waiting to die!" Amber replied as they boarded the ship.
Meanwhile…
Cleats walked across the field, angry with himself.
You had to say "go ahead, do what you want," you know your own niece and how energetic she is! How could you let her micromanage that poor boy's actions? Now look where you've taken us! Some unknown place! And, what's better-
Cleats stopped when he saw a familiar hoodie with a familiar greek letter on the back.
He kicked them in the side.
"Hey! Wake up!" He snapped.
Merryl slowly got to his feet.
"Ugh. Where the hell am I? Why the hell am I not dead?! Who are you?!"
Cleats threw off his hood and scowled.
"OH!" Merryl stood, dumbfounded. "C-Cleats?!"
"Yeah, Cleats! Your own brother of whom you sent a hitman after! You don't know what I've been through to finally look at you again!"
"I… how am I here, is this hell?"
"No, it's quite real, I'm real, and I'm really upset with YOU!"
"Oh…" Merryl went over the situation in his head maybe five times. "See, in the moment when I did that, I thought it was a good idea, but as I continued without you, I began to think, "man, that idea was terrible!" So… sorry?"
Cleats let out an anger sigh.
"That suffices for an apology. Now, we have to find the Immortality Drive."
"You mean the fifth-grade project of ours? Why would we need to-"
"Because it's why we're here!"
Merryl gasped.
"Somebody used it?!"
"Yeah, and now we've gotta get it back!"
Both brothers stared at each other for at least three minutes.
"We're gonna have to go together." Cleats groaned.
"Yep." Merryl agreed.
A ship flew by, to two people standing in the clearing.
"That's a Gamma ship," Merryl caught himself muttering, "what's it doing here?"
"I don't know. Should we check it out?"
"No." Merryl replied immediately, "They've probably replaced me by now."
"Gamma died after you did… So why is there a Gamma ship here?" Cleats asked.
"Maybe this is another universe?"
"That's not possible, Gamma was multiversal."
Merryl chuckled.
"What if this is another dimension? Like an alternate reality where Gamma isn't dead yet?"
"Heh, like THAT'S possible." Cleats scoffed.
It hit them at the same time.
"IT IS POSSIBLE!" Merryl cried, "WE'RE FROM AN ALTERNATE DIMENSION!"
Cleats went wide-eyed. "That's not good. That's really not good."
The brothers watched, terrified, as the Gamma ship flew off.
"What do we do now…?" Merryl asked.
"...I have no idea."
?
"What is that?" One MVP agent asked.
"Why does it look creepily similar to YOU? Like an evil twin?" Another replied.
"Captain, should we investigate?" The first one asked, "It could be a Gamma trick."
"I'll check with Alpha first." The captain began, "But get your gear in case he says yes."
"Got it." Both agents confirmed.
Now the real Season 4 is out. And the brothers are right... this is an alternate reality. May I introduce, MVPs: The Beta Dimension. See you soon...
