Billy felt a hand poke his face and leaned upright instantly.
"WHAT?!" He growled, "Don't you see I'm trying to sleep?!"
A green toad in a Gamma uniform smiled.
"Hi!"
Billy caught himself wearing a goofy smirk.
"Hi!" He replied in the exact same tone of voice.
"We found you out in some field and saw your Gamma uniform, so I told my buddy Travis that we should save you, but he was too busy gawking at some other guy that looked just like him, so we said we'd just save the both of you!" The toad paused, then stuck out his hand. "I'm Billy!"
Billy squinted.
"Nice to meetcha! I'm…" He gasped. "I'm also Billy!"
"Woah, that's weird! What makes it weirder is that we have the same backpack, too!" He extended his arms and a pair of menacing robot claws shot out. "But yours doesn't fire lasers like mine does!"
Billy rolled out of the bed he'd been tossed in and looked around.
"You have the chrome arms too?"
"Yeah!"
"That's weird. Your name is Billy, you're a little green toad, you work at Gamma, you have metal arms like me, you have a friend named Travis…" Billy gasped. "Am I in a coma?!"
"This sounds like a great coma dream," the other Billy thought aloud, "I'd love it!"
"There's no way we're the same person, unless… where's Travis? I need to see him."
The other Billy nodded and skipped to the pilot cockpit.
Billy, after a while, got impatient and left the room.
When he stepped out, he saw Travis pointing a powerful PSI move at… Travis?
Two of Travis stood in the center of the room, staring the other down like this was some sort of duel.
"Listen, I don't want to hurt you! Just put away the PSI Freeze and we can talk!" The second one begged.
"Listen, I DO want to hurt you, very much!" The REAL Travis turned to the REAL Billy. "Come on, Billy, let's rough 'em up!"
Billy squinted. "Why are there two of you?! Why are there two of me?!"
"Hey, break it up!" The other Billy pried them apart with his chrome arms. "Imagine what Omega would say about this?!"
"We'd get laid off…" The other Travis mumbled, terrified.
"Omega's dead and we killed him, how are you going to tell a dead man about this?!" Travis laughed, "This can't be real!"
"Travis," Billy dragged Travis aside, "I think we're in some sort of new dimension, we can capitalize off of this!"
"New dimension…? That's crazy talk, we're not in another dimension, Billy." Travis scoffed, arrogantly.
"Then what else explains the identical replications of our past selves?"
"..." Travis sighed. "Alright, fine. But how are we supposed to capitalize off of this, anyway?"
Billy smirked and opened his mouth as if he were gonna say something, but ruled that option out in his head and shrugged. "We could start by joining this new Gamma. Maybe we could get some insight on Omega?"
Travis sat down without an argument.
"Fine." He grumbled.
The other two turned back to the driver's seat and they sped off towards the new Gamma base.
Meanwhile…
3 leaned up and yawned. She pushed the oddly clean blankets off of her and hopped out of bed. She took one step, then freaked out. The room she sat in looked just like any old MVP base- all of which Billy should have destroyed. She went over the process in her head, before realizing her gear wasn't on her body.
Somebody took off my stylish gear?! She thought, not even conscious of anything other than how stylish the gear was and how it's gone.
Before she could notice anything else, the door at the far end of the room opened, and a familiar MVP stepped through.
"Morning, agent." He called, "You've been asleep for nearly two days. We couldn't find you in the MVP database, so we just waited until you woke up to ask you about your info."
"L? What's going on?"
Luigi(or so 3 presumed) frantically slammed the door behind him and ran to 3's bed.
"H…how do you know my name?! That's disclosed information!"
"We literally work together in the same team!"
L sighed.
"You must be having some sort of crisis. I work with ONE orange inkling and it's not you."
"You must be having a crisis! How do you not remember me? Agent 3? Name ring any bells?"
L stood there for a second.
"Agent 3 is in the back, watching this on the cameras, you faker!"
"How?! No two MVPs can have the same codename!"
L turned and opened the room door.
"I… have no idea what's going on, but we should really discuss it with the captain so that Alpha and the administration can get us to understand what's happening. So get up, we're leaving!"
The Gamma Ship…
Travis glared at his strange doppelganger from across the room.
"You can do it too, right?" He asked.
"Do what?" The other replied.
"I can feel it. The PSI. You reek of it. It's potent in you, like I've never sensed before." Travis squinted. "Just what are you hiding from me?"
"Nothing. Surely we know the same powers if we're supposed to be the same."
"Yeah… sure." Travis turned to Billy. "How much longer do I have to sit here? Does anyone in this ship actually know where they are going?!"
The other Travis shrugged, Billy gave a quick "I dunno," and the other Billy pointed to the autopilot.
"I have beef to settle, so please, speed up the process somehow!" Travis paced back and forth. He stopped, looked around as if he didn't know where he was, shook his head, then continued to pace.
Billy gave him a stern glance.
"Are you okay?"
Travis nodded. "I'm fine. Just have this weird headache."
The chapters so far feel really short- that's because we're easing in to the new season. Next chapter won't be lacking in length. Trust me.
Anyway, seems like we've met Luigi... or this dimension's Luigi, that is. And Billy and Travis. That doesn't explain where our other friends are. What happened to Alph or Simon... or the captain, for that matter? Guess we'll find out soon. See you then...
