After the (oddly aggressive and very angry) BS game, everyone went to sleep. 3 slept on the couch in the lounge, while everyone else slept in their rooms.
Shortly into the night, Beta 3 rose from the bed and quickly threw on some sweatpants and a jacket. She grabbed a handbag from a nearby seat and opened a secret portal, after making sure nobody else was awake to watch.
As she got ready to step through, somebody took a very loud step nearby.
She turned to see the normal 3, standing in the hall.
"Ah! HI! What… are you doing up at this hour?" Beta 3 asked.
"I was about to ask you the same thing. I just came out here because I couldn't sleep." 3 squinted. "Why are you wearing a jacket?"
"It's… cold. And we can't run the AC at night." Beta 3 lied, "So I was just taking a walk through my favorite universe to warm myself up."
"Oh. I mean… I just couldn't sleep after what happened." 3 paused, then laughed, "Right, you weren't there. Basically, I told my friend I loved him in the same week that he turned crazy and tried to kill me because his past friend brainwashed him back to a creepy serial killer state of mind. And then we kissed in a hallway before he hypnotically put me to sleep."
Beta 3 smiled, awkwardly. "That sounds… busy."
"Yeah, it was." They both stood in silence for a second, before 3 turned around. "Whatever, I'm not trying to disrupt your walk, so… see you in the morning."
"Yeah, you too." Beta 3 sighed as 3 left the room. "No idea what that was, but it was weird. Anyway…"
After sternly checking her surroundings once more, Beta 3 finally stepped through the portal and shut it behind her.
Standby Quarters, after hours…
Beta Travis slowly crept down the quiet Gamma hallway. Much to his advantage, nobody guarded the sleeping quarters after hours. He carefully made his way to another room, before promptly entering.
Beta Billy snored loudly in his sleep. This was partly the reason Beta Travis could easily find his room during resting hours.
Beta Travis slid the door closed and snuck to Beta Billy's bed.
"Hey. You alive in there?" He whispered.
Beta Billy woke up faster than Beta Travis expected.
"Gee, it's morning already?" He chuckled, "I literally just went to sleep!"
Beta Travis yanked off his comrade's sun mask and watched his face zip to a worried state.
"Oh… you're not waking me up because it's morning, are you?"
Beta Travis shook his head, gloomily.
Beta Billy sighed, "You're about to ask if I can cover for you, right?"
"Please."
"I can't cover for you anymore. Not after last time." Beta Billy's gaze fixated on his blanket. "We can't have a repeat of last time."
"Billy, please. I know it's a lot, but this is very important to me." Beta Travis begged, "And you're the only one who's been able to help."
"If Billy is the only one who's able to help, then surely MY assistance wouldn't be unwelcome?" Billy chortled from the other side of the room.
"How'd you get in here?" Beta Travis grumbled.
"I have a pass that works on all of the rooms. As of right now, you're an accomplice of mine. Because of this, if you really wanted to, I could just let you out to do whatever and style on that pathetic specimen you guys call a leader 'till she breaks and lets you scot-free."
"You can do that? Great, then I can-" Beta Travis reached for the pass, but Billy yanked it out of reach.
"Now, hold on! I can't just have you running off to god-knows-where! What if you're talking to MVPs, hm? What if you're some sort of spy on the inside? That wouldn't be good! I need to know where you're going, or you're not leaving."
Both Betas exchanged glances.
"Well…" Beta Travis began, but Beta Billy cut him off.
"He's literally just going home to run some emergency errands. He's always doing this, that's why I have to cover for him."
Billy raised an eyebrow, went to speak, then squinted his eyes. He licked his teeth, gave Beta Travis a sly glare, ruled an option out in his head, then spoke.
"Then hurry. I have big plans and you're not gonna keep me waiting, understand?!"
Beta Travis took the pass, thoroughly thanked Billy, and ran off.
Billy turned back to his Beta self.
"A little generosity between friends goes a long way…" He said, ending with a short chuckle.
A few minutes later…
Beta 3's eyes lit up as Beta Travis appeared a few feet away.
"You really kept me waiting, didn't you?"
"Billy couldn't vouch for me this time, but his… weird doppelganger friend helped me escape." Beta Travis awkwardly smiled. "That's life these days."
Before he could get any more awkward conversation out, Beta 3 closed the distance between them until he could smell the soap she used to shower earlier.
Beta Travis slowly wrapped his arms around her body.
"You're really cold, you know that?" He mumbled as he pulled Beta 3's body closer to his own.
"It's because I've been out here for a long time." Beta 3 chuckled, "Just goes to show how long I'll wait for you."
"Alright," Beta Travis let go. "Let's not get corny."
The sudden lip contact between him and Beta 3 scared Beta Travis. After about three seconds, he just kind of rolled with the fact that they were going to be here a while and embraced it.
Several minutes of loving later…
"Oh man… I can't be out past the wake-up call. I'd definitely get fired if I did." Beta Travis gave Beta 3 a peck on the cheek and ran off.
3, shortly after processing that her boyfriend had vanished, went home as well.
From the shadows nearby, Billy emerged.
"Fascinating." He giggled, "Travis actually has a date in this dimension… just one of the many new secrets this world holds…" Billy brandished a familiar watch and pressed a button. In a flash, he disappeared as well.
The Awakening Field…
"Hey! Wake up!" A voice called.
Marco leaned up, then quickly grasped her head.
"Yowch! Where did that ear-splitting headache come from?!"
Arris stood, bent over in front of Marco.
"I mean, a hello would have been nice."
Before Arris could blink, Marco had scooped her up into a tight hug.
"I didn't think I'd ever see you again." Marco whispered.
"Honestly, me neither," Mick groaned, as he stood a few feet away. "but now's not the time for making out in the grass. We're currently lost in- aaaaaaand they're making out in the grass." Mick sighed. "Guess I'll just try to find help with someone else in this field."
Mick sat there for a while, waiting for anyone to pay him any attention.
"HEY! I understand that you've been separated for three years, but we're stuck in the middle of NOWHERE, by ourselves! I can't find Cleats, not even that Shallows dude!"
"Ok, he's right." Marco began, as she got to her feet. "We have to find help."
"Where are we gonna find help? We're still out in the middle of nowhere!"
"We could help." A voice put in.
The three looked over to see an even-more-strange version of Marco(and Arris,) Cleats with no facial hair, and Mick in an MVP suit.
"Alright, what the hell is this?" Mick asked, clearly confused.
"Well, if I had to guess, I'd say these are the people from the Alpha dimension." Beta Cleats said, stroking his chin(of which Arris couldn't keep her eyes off of.)
"Alpha dimension?!" All three gawked.
"Yeah. We're MVPs, by the way."
"They call us the Accepted Ones." Beta Marco said, cheerily.
"THE ACCEPTED ONES?!" The three gawked.
"I think it's a charming name!"
On the ship…
"This is another dimension." Mick sighed, "I just wanted to bust the guy who got my wife captured, now I've been dragged into some sci-fi adventure?!"
"This is a once-in-a-lifetime situation right here," Mick's Beta chuckled, "I don't know how you're so negative."
"I didn't want any of this!" Mick cried, "If anything, I wanted to rest and spend some time with my kid! Not be dragged even deeper into the pit of adventure!"
"At least it wasn't your kid." Beta Mick sighed, "Because that would have been bad."
"Right. How much longer until we're wherever? I can't stand myself."
Beta Cleats turned around to face them. "You won't have to wait much longer, because we'll be there in…"
Mick flew from his seat in a painful lurch forward.
"Now."
Mick swallowed back the lunch trying to escape his stomach and got to his feet.
"I don't want to do this," He whined, before continuing anyway.
This chapter WAS gonna be much longer, but I cut half of the chapter out after realizing that none of it made sense. So you got the part that actually makes sense and the part I'm actually satisfied with.
It seems like Billy's been acting strange, lately. He seems so... fascinated. But, at the same time, he acts as if he's already seen this place before. What's up with him?
all you travis and 3 shippers got your wishes LOL
Next chapter, we meet Merryl and Cleats as they attempt to resolve some background issues. See you then...
