Chapter 27: Yippie Ki-yay.
Don't worry if I don't post soon: surgery tomorrow.

They came to the prison, lighting it up like a sun. Zombies were everywhere. There were men taking shots at the wards, but the bullets didn't penetrate. Though the bullets going the other way did. The live ambushers were too far away, and those being attacked were more worried about the zombies.
The zombies were likewise held at bay. Still, three sides of the prison had the walking dead trying to get in. Those in the cars and on motorcycles were shooting at both the living and the dead. They were used to this, and it was simple for them to aim and fire.
Though taking a human life was new, there was little choice. They might be able to incapacitate them but, why? They were trying to kill those in the prison. Still, they would try.
"Sirius, let me out in the courtyard," Harry said, pointing to an empty area.
"Okay, hold on and get ready to jump," his godfather said, lowering the car to hover over a blank area. Those fighting in the prison moved out of the way. He could hear the real prisoners yelling to be let out. That wasn't going to happen.
Harry jumped when the car was ten feet off the ground. He bent his knees for the impact and rolled as soon as his feet touched. He came up and looked around, he spotted Carol who was looking frantically around. Like she was missing something, probably her daughter.
"Carol, where's Sophia?" Harry asked since it was his job to make sure the kids stayed out of the fight.
"I don't know, she was playing with a dog will I was visiting. She went outside, but she wouldn't run off," the near hysterical woman said, trying to be brave.
"Are there any other children here?" he asked, grabbing her arms and making her focus.
"No… no… I don't think so," she said, trying to remember.
"Okay, I'll go find her. Where did you see her last?"
"By the back fence," she answered as she started to run that way.
"Of course," Harry groused, that girl loved the woods.
They ran through the people fighting, pushing people out of their way. Apologizing each time, but not stopping. They ran to the back fence and saw that there was a hole in the fence. It was probably never mended because of the wards.
"You stay here, and guard this hole," Harry said, already going through, not leaving it up for debate. "I'll find her," he promised as he ran into the darkening woods. With all the cars flying around there was light here and there, but for the most part it was dark. He heard a dog barking and went that way.
The sight he came to made him proud, there, high up in a tree, was Sophia. She was crying because the dog was still down on the ground, and she could see zombies coming.
"Don't worry, I'll take him with me," Harry told the girl as he started climbing. He got to a high enough branch, that was wide enough for two. He then brought out his wand and lifted the dog next to him. "Do you have a weapon?" he asked the scared girl.
She pulled out a knife, which wouldn't do much good.
"I have a gun, so stay in the tree no matter what," he ordered, pulling his gun from his pocketspace.
"Mom," Sophia said, seeing her mother run their way.
"Carol, get in a tree," Harry shouted, pointing up.
She saw her daughter and then nodded and headed up a tree not far from Harry's.
"Sophia, are you okay?" she asked the little girl.
"Yes, mama," was the timid answer.
"How did you wind up out here?" Harry asked, keeping his eyes on the Walkers coming their way. With all the headlights, he could see them in flashes, and they looked nearer. "Carol, do you have a gun?" he asked the mom.
"Yes," Carol said, taking it out and aiming at the zombies right out of firing range.
"The dog ran off, I was going to get it and bring it back," Sophia explained, not seeing that she did anything wrong.
"Next time get an adult," Harry said, pointing to her mother. She nodded and stared at the zombies.
They had just got into range when Harry and Carol started firing. Head shots only. The dog started whimpering besides Harry. Not liking that it was in a tree, and now loud noises.
Harry heard the engine of a motorcycle and hoped that someone would come and get Sophia. She was unarmed, basically.
It was two bikes that appeared. Both the Dixon brothers were there, firing on the ones outside of Harry's and Carol's range. It was a piece of cake, soon the zombies were gone.
"Yippie ki-yay, mother fuckers," Merle shouted, waving his gun around. He didn't have this type of fun in Woodbury.
"Yes, yes, quite fun," Harry said, sarcastically. "Can you come get this dog before it knocks me out of the tree?" he asked, trying to move the cowering dog off his shoulder.
"Yeah, yeah, hold your horses," Merle said, flying to the tree and hovering near Harry.
Harry lifted his wand and floated the complaining dog to the front of Merle, who put an arm around it and landed the bike. It was only a matter of seconds before they were on the ground. The dog jumped off and hightailed it back to the prison.
The three others climbed down. There was silence.
"The fight over?" Harry asked, as he watched Carol hug Sophia. A few years ago, he would have been jealous, but now it warmed his heart.
"Yeah, it's over," Daryl said, he too watching the small family.
"Let's get out of here," Harry said, climbing on Daryl's bike, while Carol and Sophia got on Merle's. In a matter of minutes, they were in the prison.

"Did we lose anyone?" Sirius asked, looking around to see if there were any dead bodies.
"No," Glenn said, shooting down the last zombie.
Sirius raised his wand and banished it. "What happened?" he asked now that the fighting was over. He had banished all the bodies, zombie and newly dead. There were none alive to give testimony.
"They crashed busses into the wards. Those busses were full of zombies," Glenn said, wiping his forehead.
"I see three busses, they were full?" the leader asked, taking a sip of water that someone had handed him.
"Yes, then when we came out to kill the Walkers, they started taking potshots at us. We now know the wards will stop bullets, but what if they come with something bigger. There isn't a military anymore. Anyone can walk off with artillery. I don't think your wards will stand up to that," Glenn said, taking a deep pull on the water bottle.
"They might, but I don't want to test it. Do you guys want to stay here, or in one of the many cleared out flats?" Sirius asked, looking around for Harry.
"I'll ask around, but I don't think the prison is worth it," the Asian man said, pouring the rest of the water over his head. "Not when we have all of Atlanta."
"He's right," Rick said, coming up to them after checking on the prisoners. "We can put the prisoners in the jail. It'll hold what we have. Or we can keep the prison and have it run by the house elves."
"Do you think that'll be enough," Glenn asked, not knowing much about house elves.
"Oh yeah, those little guys take their jobs very seriously," Sirius said, grinning like a madman. "I know they'll protect the prison, and if it does get breeched, they can pop away."
"What do you think, here or Atlanta?" Rick asked Glenn, noting he looked a bit spooked, though even Rick would admit, he did good just now. All the non-combatants were kept inside, of which there weren't many. The rest came to fight.
"Like I said, I'll ask around," the younger man stated again, then turned to find Kingsley, since he was the co-mayor.
"Have you seen Harry?" Sirius asked Rick.
"I was told he went off to find Sophia," Rick said, pointing to the back side of the prison.
"Shite," the dogman said, and took off running. He didn't get far when two motorcycles came flying over the building.
"Yee-haw," Merle was shouting.
"Merle, are you high?" Daryl asked, never being too sure with his brother.
"Yeah, on life. I'm on a fucking flying motorcycle. How can I not be high on that?" he asked rhetorically.
"Asshole," the younger brother grumbled as he landed.
Harry jumped off and went to Sirius, hoping he wasn't in trouble.
"You okay?" the godfather asked, grabbing his shoulders and looking him over.
"I'm fine. Proud as ever over Sophia. She did just as we told her to," Harry said, pointing to the little girl, who was holding on to her mother.
"Did she now? That means you guys did well," Sirius praised both of them. "Merle, did you recognize any of those men?" he asked the redneck.
"Yeah, they are the Governors men. Did you kill them all?" the man asked taking out some chew. He was still on the motorcycle, like it was his horse or something.
"Had to, what we didn't get the Walkers did. Don't know what they were thinking," Sirius said, rubbing his chin, which was now sporting a short beard. The goatee was out of place here. So, he was just going to let it grow some.
"They probably weren't," the older brother said, taking a minute to get his thoughts in order. "Most of those that fight for the Governor are either idiots or being blackmailed."
"What does that make you?" Harry said with a smirk.
"Fuck off, kid," Merle said, spitting in his general direction.
"Eww, gross," Harry said, jumping back. "Really?" he asked, not believing the man did that.
"Don't get smart with your elders," Merle said, this time he was smirking.
"Knock it off," Sirius said, looking at Harry, but pointing at Merle.
"Whatever," Harry said to Merle and went to talk to Sophia.
"So, what do you think? Will he try again?" Sirius asked, watching Harry walk away. He was so proud of that boy.
"Oh yeah, if he wants this place, ain't nothing going to stop him," Merle said, spitting again.
Sirius made a face but ignored it. "Let me talk to Glenn, I think we should move them to Atlanta," he said, moving off to do just that. As much as he's like them to have their own opinion, it would be safer for everyone if they were all together. He only hoped the rest agreed. He'd put his foot down if he had to, but he was hoping it wouldn't come to that.
