Harms Room

Bethesda Naval Hospital

"Harm no; I'm not going to let you do this, you're a pilot you are going to teach Tommy how to fly and what about Rosie, thank about her, how her eyes will light up when she see's her daddy flying, but mostly think about me, the man I fell in love with is a larger than cocky navy Flyboy that just happens to be a lawyer."

"If your trying to talk me out of this; it's not working. I've made my mind up. I only fly enough to keep up my quals, it's not worth risking my life for. No more discussion about this my mind is made up."

"So that's it? I don't get a say in this? What happen to us being partners in this marriage? Talking things out? Communication?"

"Right; cause that's worked so well for us in the past."

"Really you want to go there!" Before either one could say anything else, Tommy started crying at the top of his little lungs. Mac picked him up cradling him to her. She got up and started walking the room, as Harm watched her, he could feel the tension in the room, he knew if he could feel it, Tommy could as well.

"Sweetheart; his about we table this for right now what do ya say?"

Mac just kept walking, keeping her full attention on Tommy.

"Please sweetie, talk to me."

"I just... I need time Harm we almost lost you. I know you believe what your doing is right. If you'd asked me this on Friday when everything was happening, I'd said yes. But now I feel like your doing this on the spur of the moment and when the dust settles you're going to look back and blame us for forcing your hand, making you choose between us and flying."

Before Harm could answer or say anything more; his door opened up and in walked Dr Radford along with Dr Greene. Both Doctors looked at the couple sensing that they had walked in on something. "We can come back.."

"No Doc, it's fine. Right baby?"

Giving both Doctors a look; Mac just nodded her head. "Mrs Rabb you mentioned earlier that you have some questions for myself and Dr Greene."

"First you need to be aware that I'm my husband's JAG lawyer along with his wife. Now that we've established this."

"Hold on Mrs Rabb.."

"That's Lt Col Rabb to you; Dr Radford."

"Very well Col Rabb; do I need to call a lawyer?"

"Not less you're feel you need one. My questions are pretty basic."

Both Doctors looked at each other. "Fine ask away."

"If my clients wife hadn't insisted on a second opinion would you have offered one? After all you missed diagnosed him when he was brought in, thus causing him to have a seizure that might have killed him, the effects of this placing him in a temporary coma, and adding stress to his wife almost causing her to stuffer an miscarriage."

"When Commander Rabb was first brought in he wasn't conscious we addressed the injures that he has. It wasn't soon after that he woke up. He appeared to be a bit confused..."

"I'd say it was more than that, he had no memory. In my books that's a very large signal that something is wrong with him."

"With him being knocked unconscious some temporary memory loss is to expected."

"Still the fact he suffered a seizure ; the effects of that could be long term. Am I right or wrong Dr Greene?"

"You'd be correct; that was the reason we ran the CT Scan today, to check and make sure there's not any permanent damage. The tests show him to be perfectly normal.."

Gathering her wits about her; she was about to finish up when Harm spoke up. "Do you all mind if I say something here."

Dr Redford looked around and over at Harm. "By all means Commander." Mac turned around looking at her husband.

"Doc; I am okay right? No lasting consequences from anything that happens?"

"You'd be correct Commander."

"Thank you Doc."

"Col are there any further questions that you have?"

"No I guess not."

"Alright; Commander I don't see why you can't go home tomorrow."

"Music to my ears."

"I'm going to put you on in home rest for the remainder of the week. After that you're free to return to work."

"Thank you Doc."

"Your welcome Commander."

Both Doctors turned and headed out of the room. Mac quickly laid Tommy down in the crib that had been brought down for him, she than took off after the Doctors. Following them out and down the hallway. "Dr Radford.. Dr Radford.." He turned around when he heard Mac.

"Col I really..."

"Shut up and listen to me. I don't know when you doctors loose your bedside manor, but you've clearly lost yours. Your cold and heartless, you treated my husband like a second thought. Maybe to you he is; but to me and that little boy he's our whole world. And because of your lack of knowledge or caring he was misdiagnosed. I can't let that go. I'm going to speak to the medical board about this."

"Col; there's no need for that, I didn't misdiagnosis your husband.I treated him as I saw fit."

"How can you stand before me and still say that. He went into a brief coma."

"That was his mind reacting as way to heal the damage that had been done."

"Damage that you missed to start with."

"Why don't you blame all this on that husband of yours. After all if he was half a pilot he wouldn't have crashed a 40 million dollar F-14 Tomcat."

Mac couldn't believe what she had just heard. She was so mad and pissed off that she reared back and punched him right in the mouth. This caused the Doctor to stumble backwards and fall against the wall. Mac was about it hit him again when Admiral Chegwidden walked up. He grabbed Mac pulling her off the Doctor.

"Stand down Col."

"But;Sir?"

"I stand stand down. Now what's going on here?"

Both Mac and Dr Radford stayed silent. "I can make it an order."

"Sir I confronted Harm's Doctor because I don't like the way he's been handling Harm's care here. I feel that had he been properly diagnosed some of what occurred medical wise wouldn't have. He than went on to blame Harm for his injuries. So I punched him."

The Admrial shook his he knew all to well that if the situation was reversed, Harm would've reacted much worse. "Col go back in with your husband and son. I'll handle this."

"Yes Sir. " Mac headed back to Harms room. Knowing that she was going to have to explain all this to Harm.
