Her blush was so cute!
She remained blushing as her eyes also remained wide with surprise as the movement, I did towards her left her a blushing mess. "I was the same way in the beginning…" she looked towards me confused. "Back in the beginning of my sisters and my reign we knew nothing of how to rule. We made mistakes just like everypony else… only our mistakes came with big costs. The building of a new farm along with farmland? Put into an area where plants could barely grow. Farm animals found dead and mauled? Send a small hunting squad… only for them to find a Manticore instead of wolves. Do you see what I am saying?"
"Yeah. I think so." I smiled at her as I gave a small kiss to her forehead… below where her horn was growing as she gave a small squeak.
"From our mistakes we learned what to do and what to search for as well as how to proceed through things. Finding the appropriate soil for growing a bountiful harvest, regardless of what needs to be done to ensure it happens although some things are taken in consideration. The dead animals? Scouts were sent out to search, and while more animals may be lost to the beast it allows the scouts to find out what has been doing the killing and notify the guards of an appropriate response." I told her remembering those events clearly just by talking about them… the letters of death that needed to be written will forever be remembered. "And you won't be doing it alone either… you will have myself, Luna, and my niece to help you when you need it…"
"But how would I even fit in?" she then asked looking me straight in the eye. Blush almost gone but still seemed quite nervous.
"That is for you to find out. All three of us had to learn what was best for us and what we could do to help our subjects. I was thankful Cadence had already figured out what she was best at before her ascendence. It allowed her to easily weave her way into the way me and my sister had things although we had to adjust to help her out as well. Regardless though… we will be with you every step of the way through all obstacles, ready to pick you up when you fall, and ready to cheer you on as you canter to the finish." She was starting to cry as she pulled me into bone crushing hug as she began to softly sob into my chest.
This was exactly how Cadence was when she joined us… while she may act more like an older sister to all our subjects, she had a few reservations about everything. My sister and I did as well. "Do you have any questions you wished answered?" I then asked her softly after a short silence.
"What… do I even do to start? Is there like paperwork or something?" I gave a soft chuckle.
"a small bit. Primarily records to add amongst our own as well as physicals and medical paperwork once your ascendence is complete. Just so we know how to properly help you control your magic and you grow into your power." I told her with smile on my face. "Although you will need to choose one of us to help you with your magic."
"Can… I choose you?" giving her a sad smile.
"Not for a small while unfortunately… I will need to get things ready for your introduction and your placements among the royal family. I am sorry my dear." She looked saddened by this information as I tried to think of a way to make things work. If I remember my schedule correctly for the next month if I move that around to there and move those times up. Perhaps that should work. "Perhaps there can be a way to move things around perhaps. While it may be tricky, I am sure we can get things to work. Although there will be some days you will need to learn with my sister or Cadence. Possibly for several days in a row as well." She brightened up as there was a knock at the door. "Enter!" in walked the captain.
"Your highness the ponies you ordered to the room have returned with sketches. Would you like to see them?" I nodded as he walked over and laid down many papers. "I will leave you two alone." He gave a quick bow before leaving the room. Most likely to talk with the two quick response teams concerning the situation.
Using my magic, I floated the large sketches in front of me as I confirmed my own suspicions while at the same time raising others. This was certainly intriguing though I will say. Considering Derpy wishes to keep what happened here to herself I will oblige for the time being… if it does not cause harm that is. "Can you… explain this at all?" I was startled by her question as I temporarily forgot she was here. Giving her a small smile, I nodded and pulled her in closer so she could see the sketches even better look as I began to explain things to her as simply as I could.
"This one is what created the bond between you and the area. It is known as the Binding Equation. It is assisted with these other runes to help bind the magic in larger quantities." I explained to her. "They are made using these runes here, here, and here in different ways… I unfortunately will not be able to explain these further expect for what runes they are. Some of these runes were proved to be unable to activate with one another a long time ago. There have been many attempts, but they all ended the same way of failure… even critically injuring the ponies testing them the last time a year ago before I pulled it out of the pool of testing." She looked worried once I spoke of how I would be unable to explain further.
"Is anything here bad then?" she then asked as I gave it another look over. It all in all resembled simply a much more complicated version of a binding ritual that was used back then. Although it is now currently the most complicated one in existence, I could not spot anything negative among the clusters. Although just the fact there are runes here that should not be capable of working together after years of attempts does not fill me with… confidence.
"From what I see currently… no, although I will need to see the area to make sure they sketched it all out correctly." I gave her a small smile. "Considering I was given a clean state of health how about we go check it out?"
"Are you sure that's a good idea?" she then asked me as I gave a small chuckle.
"Where is your sense of adventure my dear adorable derp." I gave her a kiss on the cheek as she turned a bright red.
"Back at Canterlot Castle…" she then gave in a deadpan tone… which was ruined by her blushing face.
"Considering you came here and supposedly got yourself caught up in a binding ritual. I'm going to have to say that is quite untrue… considering your profession as a mailmare as well of course."
