The ride back to Canterlot took a couple hours as we were deep in the forest. There was little talk among the group as we landed inside the castle and began walking into the castle. The guards had quickly separated from use with exception top the captain and the one who had treated me. I was quickly led to a small bedroom as the princess sent a scroll using dragon fire. "He will be here shortly. Now then, can you two please give us some privacy… we need to have a discussion, about why this all happened." They gave a quick bow and left the room as she sat down on the bed next to me.
"Can we… not do this now?" she asked as I gave her a small shake of the head. "Oh…"
"While we may have talked a bit about it… I believe it would be best to talk more about it…" I looked away as I remembered the reason why I had ended up in the Everfree Forest. "I want to further explain as to why I didn't say anything… that my sister made me realize… I just… wasn't ready." I stared at her in confusion.
"You weren't ready? For what?" she gave me a sad smile.
"For you…" I was shocked at what she spoke as she quickly continued. "For your situation I mean! By the great sun and moon I just wasn't ready for your change to ever happen nor did I ever expect it to happen to you of all ponies!" she pulled me into a hug as I contemplated that small tidbit of information. She kissed my forehead near where my newest addition was growing. "When my niece Cadence began her transformation, I didn't know what to do at all… her transformation though occurred and finished within a month… but your horn is growing much slower than hers did and your magic appears to be developing at a much slower pace."
"But why then?" I pulled away from her as I looked her straight into her eyes. "Why is this happening to me slower?"
"I have a few suspicions, but we need to await the arrival of Doctor Surge. The message I sent earlier was for him to bring some equipment and secretly come to the castle where a few guards will be waiting for him to arrive. He also is bringing a few other ponies that he believes can be trusted with the information concerning what's happening to you."
"Who all… knows?" I then asked her.
"Currently only a couple doctors and the entirety of the royal guards know with both me and my sister being a given. I do not believe my niece knows just yet, but she might know from her coltfriend who is one of the captains of my guard. Now then I believe another thing we need to think about… are your parents. I'm surprised you didn't notify me of them. I would gladly of accepted the chance to meet them." I looked away embarrassed and fearful…
There was a very good reason as to why I didn't bring them up or talk about them to often. They were nobles… very strict nobles. After mom had me, she was found to be unable to have anymore foals and they were quite disappointed in the development of my eyes… from what I remembered they hired a nanny to take care of me and had me taken to Ponyville to be raised away from them. I didn't know until I was old enough to take care of myself, I was visited by them and notified of who I was to them…
To me though they weren't my real parents… my real parents were the nanny and her husband that raised me… but regardless they had contacted me when they heard of me delivering mail in Canterlot and then heard of me again when I was brought back after losing everything to the ponies with debts on me. They contacted me through the mail not long after my return to Canterlot… they wanted to see me to hear about why I was staying in the castle with my own words. They were quite controlling of my life to the point where I barely ever delivered mail here to Canterlot. I barely looked like the two of them to be honest so I didn't understand why they would go to such lengths. I took after my grandparents from what they showed me when I asked why I didn't look like either of them.
But the problem I had was they wanted to see me a few days ago. But the problem was I had completely forgotten all about it with what's been happening recently… they were not going to be happy…
But… the ones I see as my real mom and dad… I realize I hadn't talked to them in a long while. Maybe the princess could help me find them. "They aren't the kind of ponies one would take their marefriend to…" she looked confused. "They are… nobles…" her eyes gained a look of understanding. "But there are two others I call parents. They were the ones who raised me… could I please have your help in finding them? Id… like for you to meet them at least." She looked slightly shocked before giving me the most loving smile and nodding her head.
"I would be more then happy to help you find them. How soon would you like to talk to them?" she asked me.
"Relatively soon at least. I would like for them to know before anypony else was told… I don't want them to find out from anypony else but me."
"Truly understandable." She stated. "Might I ask for their names?" I looked away as I began to remember them quite fondly. The times I would fall down and get scrapes on me, and they would help me up and put band aids on me. They would also stay with me at night when there was a thunderstorm scheduled by the weather team as I didn't like thunder when I was younger… there names were forever in my head.
"Their names are Starry Night… and Iron Heart."
