As I tried my best to help her calm down, I could not help but fully realize everything that has happened since I met her. She lost her home, her job, been given an unwanted addition… she has had a hard life before and now it was basically even worse…
I needed to change things.
I could not allow this pony… no… my equal! To go through anymore hardship! Too much has happened and needs to be fixed.
As I began to plot Derpy began to calm down and eventually fell asleep. I gave a sad smile as I kissed her on her forehead as she dug her head in further into my chest. Her horn partially digging into my fur. Granted I would need to wake her up soon so we could go meet with Doctor Surge in the tearoom… although I now realize I did not specify which room to go to… I will need to ask the guards watching the room.
First thing to do I will need to begin the making of a personnel guard for her. For the time being she will need to be watched over whenever I am not with her. Back then Cadence did not need a guard as she could simply have a few of the Sun Guard with her whenever she went out and she did not have many enemies.
Derpy on the other hoof has those of whose property she has damaged. Granted most of them understood that it was not truly her fault but even then, there were those who would not let it go. From my own knowledge and what has been gathered for me it seemed to be a fair bit of the nobles of Canterlot. Most of them own businesses all over Equestria and Derpy seemed to crash into quite a few of them on her normal routes.
Mailponies were not restricted to their own town. Some Mailponies needed to travel all across Equestria should there of been a quick delivery placed which required their package as soon as possible. Derpy having been one of the best, despite them turning on her in the end causing her to be fired to avoid lawsuit, was constantly given work to do here. Pegasi being the pride and joy of each mail office as they tended to be given orders going out of town and tended to cover the entirety of one of said towns when no unicorn or earth pony was on duty to do so.
Second note look into said mail office in Ponyville. While Note Sender sang such praises of her, I need to look into why he was so ready to let her go. I should also mention the possibility of getting her another job. She seemed like the type to want to keep busy and from what I heard she was massively independent. She would at least like a part time job I believe. Should I look into jobs, or should I talk to her first? Might be best to talk to her about the possibility as it would be hard for her to get a job due to her new horn.
Another point of thought… her parents. From what she said they were the ones who raised her but not her true parents. Her true parents she said being nobles, so they were most likely here in Canterlot. Using my magic to grab the final sheet of parchment and using a quill I wrote out another message to secretly look into Derpy's family and bring me the information she locates during the night when Derpy is asleep. While this will most likely cause an argument with Derpy later when she finds out I went behind her back to find out about her real parents, but I felt like I needed to know about her family.
Finding that it has been close to a half hour since it became only her and I in the room I decided it was time to go and locate Doctor Surge. Gently shaking her awake she soon became coherent as I gave her a small smile. "Did you have a nice nap?" I asked her as she gave me a small nod against my chest. "that's good… now then… I know how dreadful things may be…" I once again pulled her in close as she wrapped her own hooves around me as well. "But just remember… you are not alone in your endeavors. Not anymore at least. While you run to each obstacle, I will be there motivating you along the way. When you need help to get through said obstacle, I will give you the help you require. There is no longer just one pony… there is now always two." She sniffed and held me close again.
"Even though I'm just a freaky eyed mail-" she caught herself on her words. "Just a simple pony?"
"That is correct… although." I gave her a kiss on her lips as she began to blush. "You are not freaky eyed at all my dear… you a simply an adorable loving derp… my adorable derp." Her blush covered her entire face now as I simply chuckled. "Now then… are you calmed down now?" she nodded. "Excellent. It is now time to see Doctor Surge. We have kept him waiting long enough I believe. As she stood up, I soon followed as I could not help but smile at the new gait in her step.
I would do anything to keep her smile on her face in these dark times for her. Opening the door, we quickly exited as she closed the door and I turned to one of the guards. "Did Doctor Surge happen to notify you of where he was headed?" the guard nodded.
"Yes, your highness. He asked us to notify you he was heading to the Celestial Tea Room. He left just a few minutes ago. The rest of the doctors and nurses left with the equipment while he took the reports with him."
"Excellent. Please follow us to the room please." The two of them gave a bow.
"By your will." I began to walk after motioning for Derpy to follow. She quickly trotted up to be almost next to me as the two guards continued just five feet behind us.
"So… what needs to be done for me to be… isolated?" she then asked.
"For one you will not truly be isolated. You will have a small number of guards as well as doctors and magic specialists with you. I plan on spending time with you as well while you are there." Her eyes widened.
"But what about Equestria?" she quickly asked.
"There is no need to be truly worried… my sister has promised to keep me updated on anything that's been happening from the time I've left. She will be sending me documents that require my approval. I refuse to allow you to suffer through this on your own."
"But what about…" I quickly cut off her train of thought.
"Derpy… regardless of what you may think… the Kingdom has three princesses to help run it now… with the return of my sister she has been wanting to help out more and more and my dear niece has wanted to also assist once I told her of my… status with you… although she has more or less demanded to meet you in the future." She blushed slightly. "Everything will be fine… I have more or less gotten everything settled that needs to be settled. We simply need to wait three days for everything to be ready. Now then let us meet with the good doctor." I then stated as we arrived at the tearoom.
