After leaving the tearoom and asking a couple passing staff and guards, I finally was given the general location of my dear sister. It appears she was in the library for most of the day so far today and was still there to their own knowledge. As I began my walk there, I started to think of what to ask her about concerning my idea as I also began to realize certain pros and cons of my idea. First there is a chance she is not ready to fully rule in my absence. Another issue is that she is not ready to deal with the nobility. Although Cadence should be able to assist her on that front.
But… even then it would take a couple weeks to even get things fully set up. If I should also remember correctly there are delegations arriving to renegotiate our treaty's… and they tend to want to negotiate a lot…
Arriving at the library I walked inside after nodding to the two guards from Luna's personal guard they opened the door for me as I began to scour the library for her. Quickly finding her cursing a book she was reading from under her breath. "Hello their sister." She then spoke without turning around to see me.
"Good day to you sister. Might I ask what you have cooped up in here for so long today?" I then asked her.
"At first, I was looking into the history of our treaties with the other countries as we are almost to the day the delegates will start arriving… but then I heard of a certain something you came across when you went to go retrieve the mare you are in love with." She then spoke. "And I know it from somewhere… I read about it in one of the books a long time ago."
"Might I ask how long ago?"
"Before my… banishment…" I looked at her wide eyed. "And considering how much you valued knowledge and books back then I very much believe there was a very high chance you had all the books from our old castle preserved and stored here… although there is a chance io read about it in a book that was put into the vault."
"I thank you for looking into this Luna… despite me not asking you to look into it." I stated in a sincere tone.
"Do not worry about its sister… I feel like I need to atone for the things I've said to and about your lover." I calmly walked over and pulled her into a hug.
"There is no need to… I believe she has already forgiven you… although you should apologize to her properly… but we do have things to talk about." Luna looked confused but used her magic to put the books away on the shelves in a quick yet precise fashion. "I see your magic is back up to what it used to be."
"I had a wonderful teacher who understood what I needed to do and how to do so." She then spoke as she finished putting away the books. "Although I suppose you were a great teacher as well." I gave her a small pout before turning it into a smile as I sat down next to her. "Now then I believe what we need to talk about has to do something with that mare of yours am I correct?" I instantly my happy demeanor diminished, and she noticed it quite quickly. "what's wrong?"
"First, I have to ask if you remember what was told to you of what happened to our niece when she ascended?" Luna seemed to ponder before she nodded and looked at me in confusion. Not long after her eyes slightly widened before looking at me with an exasperated look.
"I do remember sister of what you told me. I'm going to guess it's the same situation?" I shook my head.
"It's worse… much worse." I started as she looked at me with worry. "Cadence's situation lasted two weeks… Derpy's is expected to last 2 months… and on a much worse scale."
"What was the doctor's recommendation?" she then asked.
"Isolation…" Luna looked at me in shock. "It has been decided that she is going to be isolated at an old vacation home of mine in a few days once its ready."
"But the damage this will do to her mentality!" she then yelled.
"You are quite lucky we own this library sister." I then slightly joked.
"I am not kidding Celestia. From what I heard her mental state would not survive total isolation!"
"And it won't be." I answered as she calmed down and looked at me. "she's going to have magic specialists, doctors, and guards with her while she stays there. Which is why over these next few days I need your help. I need to screen the guard for ponies to send with her as well as make her, her own personal guard as well."
"That will be quite hard... but doable. there are quite a few nobles in the guard who only joined because it's required for their family tradition for a time as well as diehards for your own rule… although the second group isn't many, they could still cause a problem. Although might I make a quick suggestion?"
"Certainly." I answered her.
"Did you not have a couple guards assist her during her mail route here in Canterlot when she still worked for the mail office? Might I suggest starting with them?" she had a point. She seemed to get along with them as well as them with her. They would be a good place to start. Although I will need to investigate who was with her those days as they were usually the same from what I remember,
"That would be a good idea."
"Certainly. Now then maybe we should take this conversation somewhere more private." I nodded as we soon made our way to the door making simple small talk as I thought of the best way to talk her into taking over my duties for a time.
