Why did this have to happen now… now of all times!
Why did the nobles have to make a fuss concerning the delegations that will be arriving as we tried to make our way back to Derpy and Doctor Surge… thankfully they were placated finally but it was dinner time… as both my sister and I expected to happen once we got there? Thankfully I remembered to send a guard to notify Derpy and the doctor an estimate on how long we would be gone. Said guard came back to let me know of the doctor's decision to leave and a request to meet soon.
"Please locate Derpy Hooves and notify her dinner is going to be served soon." I asked a guard passing by who nodded and walked away from his patrol member as said member went on with his own patrol.
"I believe the term is finding a needle in a stack." Luna spoke up as I then chuckled.
"it's a needle in a haystack sister. That is the saying I believe you are thinking about." She gave a small curse under her breath as I heard her complain about sayings nowadays. I believe now would probably be the best time to talk to her about what I desire. "Sister, I have need to ask a big favor from you."
"Yes, sister might I ask what it is you require?" she then asked.
"Taking over my duties until I return with Derpy and her entourage after the delegations leave." She stopped walking as I stopped just slightly behind her. "I…"
"It's quite alright sister." She then spoke up. "I just don't know if…"
"You're ready for such a responsibility…" she nodded as she then turned to look at me. "But you won't be alone. You'll have my trusted aid and Cadence with you to help you out. I'm not leaving until the delegates leave so I will have time to help you prepare to rule for a time and I will do my best to always be available to answer any questions. I will just be a quick use of dragon fire away for questions."
"But are you truly certain about this… our subjects might not be ready for our rule." She stated slightly reverting back to old equestrian.
"Most likely not. But this will help get them prepared for the future. You have been wanting to have more duties during the day did you not?" she nodded. "Then this will be a good way for you to find out what kind of duties you desire to have during the day. But… are you willing to do this for me?"
"of course, sister… as I said earlier, I believe I must atone for the things I've said. Granted things will be tough the first few days but regardless of that I should be able to handle it. As you've said ill have our niece and your aid there to help me." I gave a sigh of relief. "Although now you just need to survive until the delegates leave… and from what you have told me they have only gotten worse over the years."
I sighed before I answered her. "Correct. They have grown in number and now 3 delegates come every year nowadays and they seem to get more and more demanding." She nodded.
"I am thankful you aren't leaving until after they leave sister. Because if you wanted to leave before they left, I would swear vengeance upon you." We both stayed silent before we both started to give off low chuckles as I started to look down remembering why these moments stopped in the first place… and Luna seemed to see and understand why I now looked the way I did. "You are once again remembering my banishment are you not sister?"
"You would think after all these years I would have found some way to forgive myself for what I have done… forgive myself after you yourself stated that you forgave me for what I did… I still remember and feel the pain of what I did… and the dreams I still have of that day… as well as the day you told me of that this thing attached itself to you."
"I could look after your dreams should you desire sister." I shook my head.
"No Luna. Our subjects require your help much more than I do. I fear I would take up most of your night." I spoke up.
"You don't know that sister." She answered me as I looked at her as we stopped walking once again.
"I have lived with these dreams for over 1000 years. I think I can continue to do so until I finally accept them." She looked conflicted about what to say as I came up with an alternative in that moment. "How about this sister." She looked towards me with a confused look on her face. "As long as you believe you have time after helping out those who require your help… you can come and assist me with my own dreams." Her eyes widened as she gained a smile on her face.
"That is very acceptable sister!" she stated in an ecstatic tone of voice as I smiled. Soon we arrived at the dining room as we also found Derpy inside talking to a guard. Said guard also had a smile on his face as I overheard what I believed to be the end of their conversation.
"… and could you please tell them I'm sorry for not coming to see them?"
"Certainly, Miss Hooves. I clock out soon so I will do so once my shift ends." The guard stated as he began to walk off towards the doors at the other end of the hall. Derpy looked surprised to see us both walking towards her before we sat down next to her.
