September 1995
Angelica's POV
I am currently fifteen years old now about to go from being a junior to senior. Smart right? Most kids my age would be a sophomore, soon to be a junior in high school but I never failed a grade or was held back. I have grown up to the height of 5'5. My hair has grown longer since you last saw me. I've been kept in the dark about my ancestry and why I feel out of place in this huge world. None of that mattered though because I loved my mom and dad no matter what. Now I know why but you will learn more as my story continues.
"Angelica, sweetie hurry up or you'll be late for school!" my mom shouts from the bottom of the steps.
"Be right there." I shout right back as I finished getting dressed, grabbing my bag as I run downstairs to where my lovely mom is finishing up the dishes.
At my approach, she kisses my forehead and crosses her fingers in a gesture of wishing me good luck.
"I always have good luck mom." I giggle at her cute act as I remind her.
"It's not only for you, it's more so for those students who have to face my brave yet powerful daughter." she said with a hint of amusement yet seriousness.
"I can promise you I won't create trouble this year." I said as I pout offended. She gives me a look that says I know you like the back of my hand but says nothing. That was a promise I intended to keep if I try my hardest.
I have to admit there were incidents at other schools I attended where Castiel was bullied. If there is one thing I hate it would have to be bullying so knowing me I acted on impulse beating the pulp out of anyone who so much as even look at him the wrong way. As for Dean and I, we kept in contact over the years through emails and texts because his dad was always on the road. The last time I seen him we were younger and he had to leave town back then for family reasons I didn't know and we exchanged numbers. As soon as we knew what an email or texting was, we exchanged those too and kept in touch that way mostly everyday.
"She better not," a voice says from behind my back and I turn around only to be engulfed into the arms of my father with a kiss on the cheek before he's pulling away from the hug.
"Trust me, I won't." I said as I kissed his cheek back. "Where's Cas?"
"He left this morning early saying he needed to go somewhere before school starts." he replied tying his tie which he quickly became frustrated with as he turned his attention to my mom. "Leia, honey can you do this for me. I have an important meeting and I want to look intimidating."
She stops what she's doing and does just that then gives him a brief kiss patting his chest briefly. "Personally I think you look good without it. Good luck at work today."
She turns back around walking away but he turned her around and kissed her again for a longer time as he grabbed her hips.
My dad worked at a law firm while my mom worked from home to take care of me.
"Get a room." I said as I looked over at them with no real heat. I actually loved when they were like that because it meant they were in a pretty good place in their marriage and nothing has tarnished it yet. "Can you take me to school dad?"
They both turn to me and laugh softly before my dad responds. "Sure can honeybee. Meet me outside once you get something to eat."
As he grabs his suit jacket and leaves I sit down at the kitchen island as my mom places a plate of pancakes and bacon in front of me.
"You know what? I'll just eat the bacon. Love you mom." I said as I hurry to meet my dad as I'm already late.
"Love you too, sweet pea."
Castiel's mother passed away about two years back so my parents took him in like the son they never had so that made me like his backbone rescuer you could say. They paid for a Lexus LS 460 car for when he got his license unlike me yet so currently he was driving around with no license. We normally ride to school together but he didn't wake me.
He began dating others although he gave me looks as he saw me always on the phone emailing or texting Dean who was someone I barely knew as if we were pen pals. He once told me he feels like a third wheel and that I don't pay attention to him. Little did I know I was in for quite a lot of drama this school year involving one of them.
After what seemed like forever, we reach my destination which was Winchester high school. Ironic right? I havea best friend who's last name is Winchester. I get out the car and blew my dad a kiss to which he caught it. I giggled at the cute act.
"I love you, honeybee."
"Love you too, daddy."
He pulls off and I head into the crowded halls of the school. You could tell who were newbies based on how nervous they seemed. As I try finding my first period class which happens to be Spanish, I collide with someone.
As I catch myself falling, that someone grabs my arms to keep me from falling. When I get my bearings he extends his hand toward me. Before I could do the same, I found myself looking into the eyes of the most handsome green-eyed man I have ever encountered.
He clears his throat to get my attention better. "I am Dean Winchester. You are?"
"Angelica Rose Smith." I reply wondering if this was the same Dean Winchester I met on that faithful day on the playground.
"I met a girl on a playground when I was little with the same name," he smirks as he invades my personal space knowing he somehow had the right girl at his fingertips. "You wouldn't happen to be that same girl would you?"
I notice the flirting and what he is trying to do as I flirt right back. "I don't know, Are you the same boy who emails and texts me practically every day?"
His smirk widens into a huge smile as he pulls me into a hug. "I've been dying to meet you!"
I return the hug just as tightly. "Dean! I can't believe it after all these years."
He chuckles as he finally lets go. "Yeah that's my name. Don't wear it out."
"I'm sorry I have to cut this short but I am late to class. Are you new here? Do you know your way around this school?"
"I'm new here since a few days ago. I know my way around though because my brother stays after school and I stay back to drive him home so I have familiarized myself with this school."
"Could you show me to class? Can I meet Sammy at the end of the school day?"
He sees the schedule in my hand and takes it looking it over. "I see you have Spanish first period with Mr. Wilkins. I have the same class. Are you any good at the language?"
"I think I am."
"Good. You can teach me a thing or two."
"I'd like that." I reply as we walk to the class together just talking about random things like what we missed out on in each other's lives besides what we spoke of in emails.
When we got to class we both got passes for being late just this once since we both were newbies. He met me during lunch and we ate together as we talked.
Soon it was the end of the school day, someone sneaked up behind me as I was putting books in my locker. Before I saw who it was, I punched the person in the nose.
"Geez Angel, Ow." he said as he held his nose. It was Dean.
I quickly covered my mouth, eyes wide.
"Oh my God. I am so sorry Dean. Here let me help you." I said holding my hand out to pull him up. I blush noticing how close our faces are to each other.
"It's okay." he replied as he reached up and held the wrist of my hand that was still on his nose as I settled it on his chest.
"Where's Sammy?"
"He stayed after for math tutoring."
"Math tutoring! From your emails, he sounds so smart though."
"I know. There's this girl that stays after for it too he has a crush on and I think that's why he's staying after."
"SAMMY HAS A CRUSH?!"
Dean quickly covers my mouth as he looks up and down the hallway. "Careful, he doesn't know that I know, okay?"
I nod and giggle when he takes his hand away from my mouth. His hand then moves to the side of my neck and he kisses me for the first time then pulls back slightly waiting for my reaction. I pulled him back in and kiss him back as he smiles into the kiss then leans his forehead against mines.
"I've wanted to do that for the longest time. Would you like to be my girlfriend? I was too chicken to ask you over email."
I felt like I was on cloud nine and as if the luckiest girl in the world. I squealed and nodded before jumping him. "YES, a million times yes! You have no idea how long I've been waiting for you to ask me that!"
He lets her go but not before we jump apart when we hear someone clearing their throat but I still couldn't believe we kissed. I touched my lips as we looked to see who the intruder was.
"Angel and Dean sitting in a tree k-i-s-s-i-n-…"Sam sang before being shoved back by Dean laughing.
"Shut up." He said turning red as he looked at me who was blushing too and he scratched the back of his neck.
"How did you know it was her?"
"I heard the word girlfriend at the tale end of your conversation and you told me that if you two ever met in person again you would...oof."
Before he could finish, Dean pushed him enough for him to step back a little.
"Well yes I am Angel and you must be Sammy." I answered holding out my hand to which he gives a handshake back.
"It's Sam and you're not allowed to call me Sammy. I only tolerate it from my brother."
"Okay Sam, nice to meet you."
"What were you talking about anyway?" he asked turning his attention to Dean.
"I kissed her and asked her to be my girlfriend just like I said I would."
"It's about time. What did she say?" Sammy asked grinning.
"She's right here and she said yes," I exclaimed as I pointed to myself as they begin following me to Castiel's class and waited outside of it a few feet away for him so we could all head home together.
"What about Cas? Has he made a move on you before I did?" Dean cut in.
"I'm sure he doesn't like me like that. If he does, I'll just let him down as gently as possible." I replied shaking my head at the same time.
Right at that moment Castiel came out the classroom. I couldn't help but stare like is he even real as he walked up to us. The years and time were good on him. He grew out of the nerdy boy with the glasses into a good-looking guy, very sexy and cute if I say so myself. He still wore glasses at times to read or something but otherwise didn't wear them and he wasn't picked on anymore as much so like when she met him the first time around in kindergarten on the playground before she met Dean as they grew up together. Dean elbowed me to get my attention.
"Hmmm. What?" I said distractedly harboring my own crush for as long as I can remember on my other friend before speaking again, "Do you and your dad have to go hunting again?"
I didn't exactly know what their family business was and or what exactly they hunted. That would change sooner or later hopefully if he gets me into the loop.
"If we find a case, we may but If so you okay with that?"
"Always as long as you're careful."
Castiel reaches us and gives me a hug and Dean a fist pump but pauses at Sammy.
"Hey big guy," she said as they parted.
"Hi Angel, Dean. Who are you?" he said turning his attention to Sam.
"I'm Sam. I see you've met my brother again for the second time in your life. You should know that they kissed," Sam says as he scratches the back of his neck as they all start walking out the school building.
"They what?"
"Kissed you know… like," Sam said as he made the motion like he was kissing someone.
"Oh, I heard you the first time just wanted to make sure I heard right."
"They're boyfriend and girlfriend now too," Sam said testing the waters.
"Ohhh okay. I have to go. Bye Angel, Dean." Castiel said trying to cover the hurt in his voice but failing miserably as he hurried up to get to his car.
Dean and I run up behind him to catch up with him. Dean speaks up first as I stand behind him.
"What's wrong? Listen, I didn't know you liked her. If I knew, I wouldn't have did what I did. I'm sorry."
Castiel calmly turns around from putting his backpack in the back seat but doesn't look at him but at me with tears in his eyes.
"Nothing's wrong. I have to go." He tries getting in the car but I block him and hug him.
"I'm sorry too. I didn't know."
"It's okay. I get it. I have to go. Let me go." He said not looking at either of us. I let him go and he quickly gets in the car and drives off.
"He's lying. Somethings wrong." I said noting he didn't deny when Dean said he liked me but thought something else had to be wrong too. "We have to go after him."
Castiel didn't go home but drove to his secret place that was his childhood tree at his other home.
