First Steps
Blaze, Ruby and Jaune walked inside of Beacon's main tower, a large group of people were already crowded inside. In front of them there was a large, well-lit stage. Looking around, Blaze saw human and Faunus mingling together.
"Wow," he whispered.
"Ruby, Blaze! Over here!" he looked over to see Yang waving them over. "I saved you guys a spot!"
Blaze smiled and waved back. "Hey Yang!"
"Oh, hey we gotta go," Ruby said to Jaune. "See you after the ceremony!"
Ruby and Blaze ran where Yang stood. The blond threw her arm around Blaze's shoulder and ruffled his hair.
"Yang!" Blaze shouted, smacking her hand. "Do you have any idea how long that took to style? I have to make a good impression!" Yang just laughed.
"How's your first day?" she asked.
"You mean since you ditched us and I exploded!" Ruby snapped, arms over her chest.
"Yeah, what was up with that?" Blaze said angrily glaring at his elder sister.
"Yikes, meltdown already?" she asked.
"No I mean I literally exploded a hole in front of the school!" Ruby said angrily, "and there was fire and I think some ice." Yang blinked and looked at Blaze in question.
"She… sneezed on Dust," he said shrugging.
"Ohhhh."
"Yeah!" Ruby said, "I tripped over some crabby girl's luggage, and then she yelled at me! And then I sneezed, and then I exploded! And then she yelled again, and I felt really, really bad! And then Blaze yelled at her I didn't know what to do! And…"
"You!" a voice shouted.
Blaze span around in surprise to see the girl in white from earlier glaring at them.
"Oh gods! It's happening again!" Ruby whined, jumping into Yang's arms.
"You're lucky we weren't blown off the side of the cliff!" Weiss shouted.
"You again!" Blaze said, glaring at her. "Do you have a life outside of yelling at my sister? Get over it princess. I'm sorry your silk dress has a little dirt on it, but you're fine."
"Excuse me!" the girl shouted. "I didn't see you in the explosion! You don't even know what you're talking about!"
"Yeah but I saw it! Blown off the side of the cliff my butt! Even if your aura was down you would have been fine. Where's your stupid bodyguard anyway? I liked him way better then you, and he didn't even say anything!"
"You mean the guy behind you?" Yang asked.
Blaze turned around and shouted in surprise. The silent, blue eyed boy stood directly behind him.
"Would you stop doing that!" Blaze shouted. "You're gonna give me a heart attack!"
Weiss rolled her eyes. "Honestly, what kind of Huntsman are you? A real Huntsman always has their guard up in case of an attack! How do you expect not to be caught off guard when Cyro can surprise you when he's not even trying to hide? A Grimm won't wait for you to be ready."
Blaze glared at her. "We're indoors!" he shouted. "There is no Grimm!"
"And? Grimm can attack anywhere."
"So you're telling me that if a Nevermore broke through the ceiling right now you wouldn't be surprised at all and attack the split second it showed up?"
The speakers echoed through the room as a man on stage cleared his throat to draw attention. Blaze looked over to see a man in a dark green suit with glasses and silver hair standing in front of the microphone.
Headmaster Ozpin.
Blaze stared at him, feeling a slight sense of awe. Ozpin had become head master younger than anyone in history. He had to be an amazing fighter and teacher for that.
"I'll…keep this brief," he said. "You have traveled here today in search of knowledge…"
Blaze looked around at the other students, wondering which would be in his team. I hope we have a Faunus he thought. Their enhanced senses could come in handy, and I've never really met any Faunus. That'll be so cool! Through the crowd Blaze caught a glimpse of the amber eyed girl from before. Man he thought I hope she doesn't have a boyfriend. Then again she was hanging with the boy Faunus. Well, there's not much I can do if she's taken…
"He seemed kind of…off," Yang said.
Blaze looked over in surprise to see the head master walking away. Awkwardly he rubbed the back of his head.
"Honestly," he said, "I kinda zoned out when he started talking…"
"To be expected," Weiss muttered under her breath, putting a hand on her forehead. "I would be surprised if you made it through the first week."
"Would you shut up!" Blaze shouted taking a step towards her. Yang grabbed the back of his vest.
"Easy there," she said. "You don't wanna have a fight on your first day." Blaze glared at the rich girl and folded his arms over his chest.
"Fine," he muttered angrily. The girl smirked and flounced off, the multi-colored eyed boy following in suit.
"Eash," Yang said, "I feel bad for whoever has her as a partner."
"No kidding," Blaze said, shaking his head.
