OK so this is a new chapter!

Thank you all who review/follow/favorite the story! As well as those who just read it!

Soooooooooooo... I know I've been gone for a while. Now, I will say that, at first, it was because I was conflicted over where I wanted to go with the story. Then collage started and then because I was still stuck I update other things when I could. Then, I finally found an option, a completely different option then the original two I was debating with.

Now, I'm going to be honest, due to that option some things may shift. Satan will still be fatherly (I hope! My mind is weird! But that's why that tag now has a question mark on ao3). The other demon kings are still coming in. Some things may still change more due to my ever shifting mind. But I do plan on trying to update!

So thank you all who joined while I was gone! I'm over 1000 follows I'm just so happy! I love you all and I hope you are all staying safe in this quarantine!

Now answers!

ThinMintE asked: But I am curious to see if Rin's flames can restore his eyesight fully. Also, will you follow the Season 1 anime storyline, season 2 storyline, or manga storyline after Rin's reveal. Or will you go a completely different direction entirely?

Answer: Ummmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm...probably different direction.

FactfalFallacy asked: so essentially he can only see things that have a heartbeat. Do the demons have heartbeats in this fic? Even the zombie-naberius ones?

Answer: Oh! I'm actually going to try (try that is) to explain how his sight works at the end of this chapter (because stuff happens) but good question! In this case, yeah, you can compare it to that! Also yes to the undead things. To me, they probably have something keeping them going in a similar way.

Guest asked: Will the exorcist headquarter find out about Rin's heritage? And will more demon kings show up than in the canon?

Answer: So more demon kings will show because I love my OC's. As for the other...you shall seeeeeeeeee.

bllover587 asked:Are the ewires just gonna be an overprotective family with Rin and if they are will the neglect Rin when they find out his is Satan's son unlike Bon? Also will Rin's half brothers be protective over him as well?

Answer: I mean, technically Bon didn't trust Rin at first. He just couldn't do anything too big because of threats and because he himself was confused. Plus, the way Rin told him rather than watching him become a crazed demon was different as well. They are definitely overprotective (i show that a bit here) but the way the react depends on how Rin comes out to them and how he acts...which you will have to see.

Ok, I think that was all of them. Sorry if I missed a question. Thank you to all of you who kept asking me to update! Especially those who went way out of their way to ask! I want to go through a list of all the people but then I'm keeping you from your story.

So onto the chapter!

Yukio sighed, his fingers pushing his glasses out of the way as he pinched the bridge of his nose. The noise drew a chuckle from the other occupant of the room.

"Struggling with grading the kid's papers or something?" Shiro asked from his seat in the lounge, a hand carding through Kuro's fur from where the cat sidhe was sleeping in his lap.

Yukio shook his head. "No, I finished those a while ago." A small smile made its way on his face. "Not that there weren't some students who made me want to smack some sense into them." His eyes drifted up to the ceiling, where he knew a certain brother of his was currently training on an upper floor.

Shiro chuckled again. "Yeah, well, it's not my fault all the brains went to you." Then he turned serious. "But seriously, what's got you frustrated, kiddo? I might be able to help."

Yukio took a deep breath. "Shura and I were figuring out the next place to take our students for field training. Since the summer has started, a good place to take them would be the forest district since it would offer them difficult terrain to navigate and unexpected, but low level demons to defend against. However, we have a few concerns about taking them so far away from the school for a few days."

The serious expression on Shiro's face lightened slightly as he listened, a small smile coming to his lips. "You mean, you're concerned about taking Rin away from the school grounds for a few days into the woods."

A flush came to Yukio's cheeks and he pushed his glasses up with a cough to hide it. "Not just him, but you must understand why we are cautious. After all, he'll be in a completely new terrain he'll need to be able to navigate, possibly alone. Plus, Rin tends to attract trouble and, as seen with both the exwire exam and the amusement park mission, something ridiculous is bound to happen and wrap the other students up in the mess, especially since they tend to all look out for each other-not that that is a bad thing."

Yukio sighed after his explanation, expression sombring and his eyes lowering to the table in front of him. "I just...have a bad feeling."

"Yukio, look at me." Yukio let his gaze move up to his father-figure. "To address your first concerns, you can't help Rin become more self-sufficient unless you give him the opportunity to. I know you want to protect him, but you also have to let him try. Besides, say he does get a bit scratched up. You are well prepared for that and Rin has fast healing, probably the one benefit to us." Yukio let out a small amused huff at that. "The same goes for the other students as well. Trust me, I was just as worried about you when you were training, but I didn't stop you because I knew you could do it."

"Oh, I have faith in my students." Yukio replied with a smile. "I doubt they'd ever want to back down in a fight."

"Good!" Shiro exclaimed, slapping Yukio on the back. Yukio jolted forward at the unexpected slap and gave the other an amused frown. Ignoring the look he was being given, Shiro leaned back and grimmanced, smile slipping from his face. "About the other part of your worries, you have a point. And if you gotta bad feeling, then I say we have to trust your gut on that. I can help you and Shura set up wards around your camping site before the kids get there to try to keep them safe. And, if this...feeling ends up in any way similar to what happened at the amusement park, then myself and a group of exorcists will be ready to come in at a moment's notice." He shot a smirk to Yukio. "If anything thinks they can get to your students and Rin without a fight, they have another thing coming."

"Gah!" Rin groaned as he felt hot, melted wax on his hand once more.

"Too much flame," Shura spoke up from where she was lounging off to the side, a can of beer in her hand.

"No, really?!" Rin growled sarcastically as he wiped his hand and reached for a new candle. "I didn't know!"

"Maybe try calming down?" Shura grumbled.

"I started calm, and look where that's gotten me!" Rin shot back, gesturing at what he knew to be a pile of wax off to the side. Shura was trying to help him control his flames at the moment. Even though Rin, begrudgingly, explained his abilities and how the flames allowed him to see both with the sword sheathed and even better when it wasn't, she explained he needed to know how to control his flames should he ever want to use them for more than that, especially since the sword itself was wreathed in them. As such, she gave him a candle and asked him to use either two of his fingers pinched together or a single finger to light the wick at the top. Once it was lit, she wanted him to focus on the flame and control it from there.

If they ever got there, that is. The pile of melted wax was a testament to how well this was going.

"How about not to put so much power into it?" Shura drawled.

"What does that mean!?"

"Well...uh...look, it's like yer other demonic shit, right? Like your strength? You control that."

"With years of practice." Rin huffed, but his voice was lowered as he tried to relate his two abilities. He could see how they were similar, but at the same time different. His strength he had always had. Controlling it was natural because he knew exactly how his strength felt. His flames on the other hand had not been with him throughout his childhood. They were both familiar, yet very foreign. He could imagine what it would be like to limit the flames coming out, feeling the way it traveled from within. But at the same time, he didn't have a clue where to start.

"Hmmmm…." Shura hummed in thought, suddenly moving to stand in front of Rin, her form leaning in close. Rin yelped at the sight of her flaming head so close to his own.

"What the heck?!" Rin snapped, shoving her away.

"Oi! What the fuck, brat?!"

"Why are you yelling at me?! You're the one in my face, you witch!"

"I was trying to help!"

"How was getting in my face helping me?!"

Shura crossed her arms and looked away from the half-demon sitting before her. "Damn brat. I was trying to see your eyes."

"What? Why?"

"'Cause they're all glowy and stuff." She said, as if that explained everything.

"Right, because clearly I can see that." Rin deadpanned, only to yelp when the older woman smacked him upside the head. "OW!"

"Smartass." Shura huffed. "Maybe I shouldn't help ya at all with your attitude."

"I never wanted your help in the first place!"

Shura rolled her eyes and made her way back to the wall she had been resting against and picked up a new can of beer. "Look, I was just wondering if there might be a connection with your special eyesight. I mean, they look like they're glowing and I would guess that's 'cause of your flames. I mean, ya see with your flames so obviously it's connected." She shrugged and took a swig from her drink. "Try usin' that as a guide."

Letting out a long sigh, Rin turned his attention away from the woman his brother and father call his teacher and to the candle in his hands. Begrudgingly, Rin realized that Shura had a point. Even though he couldn't see the candle at this moment, he knew if he were to unsheathe his sword that it and the entire room would be within his sight. He also knew everything would be highlighted by his flames. Closing his eyes once more, Rin focused on that warm feeling deep within him. He knew the stories behind the blue flames, knew from his own experiences that it was typically bad to see, but after all this time as a guide, Rin couldn't help but feel comfort from the blue flames within him.

So he allowed himself to breathe once more, going through the motions Shura had already walked him through previously. Honestly, meditation was not his thing, but he could focus his mind if it really came down to it.

So he focused. He found that warmth in him and then, thinking of Shura's observation, allowed his mind to then drift to his eyesight, to see how that warmth gifted him with his sight. He could almost imagine it, that steady, yet free stream of energy drifting to his eyes and out. How that powerful fire inside morphed itself to his sight. Though he did not fully understand the work behind it, the feeling of it grew ever more familiar. Subconsciously, he wondered if a similar feeling could drift out of his hands, to allow his fingers to feel as controlled as this. Not those burst of flames and emotion he usually had, but this ever flowing connection.

"Nice job, kid." Shura's voice drifted into his ear, quiet as though she was trying to keep from disturbing him. Which was weird. When did she ever care about not startling him?

Rin's eyes drifted open, hoping that whatever caused Shura to be so calm was something he could see, only for his breath to catch before him. The candle before him, though not lit at the wick, was illuminated by his flames, allowing him to see the inanimate object through his black and blue vision. Amazingly, the candle was not melting, but the flames let him make out the basic outline.

"Not exactly what we were going for, but I'll definitely take that." Shura laughed, still keeping her own voice soft. Before her, there seemed to be a soft, almost unnoticeable blue glow, flickering like flames, around the candle in Rin's hands. His own blue eyes were staring at it in awe, the flames reflecting back at those glowing orbs.

"I can see it." Rin murmured, hands gently tracing the candle.

"Huh," Shura hummed. To her, she merely thought the kid had been able to kinda light the candle on fire without burning it. To hear that he was able to see it was an amazing development in their training.

"I wonder…." Rin trailed off as he turned his attention to the empty space around him. One of his hands left the candle and made its way to the ground before him. If he could see the candle, could he see the room? If he put enough focus into his power, would his vision adapt like it did when his sword was unsheathed? He did not know, but he had to try.

"Uh, kid?" Shura called, watching as he knelt over slightly and furrowed his eyebrows. One of Rin's hands were placed palm down on the floor beneath him, the other still clutching the candle, and his eyes closed once again in focus. Shura fell silent as she watched, curious to see where this went but prepared to act should something go wrong.

Rin focused on the feeling of his flames once more, just as he had been doing for the last couple of hours. He tried to pull that feeling he felt for the candle once again to his hand, but he didn't see anything, didn't feel that same wave of focus he had previously. So he pulled harder on that flame within him and that constant flow, willing it into his hands and to illuminate the room around him. Yet, there was no progress. His jaw clenched in frustration and his eyes flashed open to glare at the blackness before him. Why was this not working? Why was it so easy when the sword was unsheathed, yet he couldn't see beyond the living people and creatures around him when it was sheathed?

He let out a low growl in frustration and yanked at that power, feeling it flood his finger tips. Only this was much similar to the results at starting a fire, such as the ones that melted the candles, rather than the controlled illumination that filtered through him earlier. The flames burst from his palms, singing the floor, but for a second, Rin thought the room showed itself to him, but he couldn't be sure, not with how frustrated he had been.

In his other hand, the candle melted to a puddle.

"Damnit!" Rin growled, his hands balling into fists and slammed them onto the floor, tears rimming his eyelids.

"Woah, woah, calm down," Shura said, quickly standing to move over to the upset teen. "No need to light the building on fire!"

"God damn it," Rin hissed out, eyes shutting and tightening to hold back his frustrated tears. "I...I thought…"

Shura sighed, sitting besides him and swinging her arm around his shoulder to pull him up. "I know, kid."

"No you don't." Rin mumbled, his eyes opening to stare off into the distance.

Shura looked at him, eyes trailing over his defeated expression before pursing her lips. "You're right. I don't. But, you could see the candle, right?"

A nod.

"Right, so we'll keep working on it. Obviously you're not going to jump from one to a hundred without the sword right away, right?"

"Right."

Shura squinted at him. "You're not givin' up, right?" She sighed. "Didn't think I was working with such a quitter."

"Oi!" Rin exclaimed, turning to glare at her. "I'm not a quitter!"

"Then, what are ya doin' sitting here and moping for, huh?" Shura shot back, but she smirked when she could see the fire igniting itself once more.

"I'm not moping! I was taking a break!"

"For what?! All you've been doing is sitting here and melting candles!"

"That's more than you! What type of teacher just chucks some candles at me and tells me to light them without any more instructions!"

"Excuse you! I've been giving you some great advice! It's your annoying ass that ignores it!"

"Half the time it's just moaning about getting more beer!"

A cough interrupted their bickering and both of them whipped their heads towards the door to the room they were practicing in. Yukio stood there, eyes flickering between the two of them and their position on the floor.

"Am I interrupting something?" He asked, a smirk in his voice as he gestured to the way Shura's arm was still around Rin's shoulder.

"Nah, just being the supportive teacher I am." Shura replied.

"Supportive? As if!" Rin squawked back. "This hag has just been sitting around and drinking!"

Shura smacked him in the back of the head. "Don't question my teaching methods!"

"What methods!"

"I said don't question me!"

Again, Yukio coughed to interrupt the two before they could continue their fight. "Anyway, I came up here to tell you that I want you to work on more footwork when training."

"Something tells me you don't mean footwork as in fighting." Rin huffed, turning to glare at Yukio.

Yukio smiled. "You're right. I want you to work on getting around places without Kuro's help. Specifically, places with a lot of obstacles."

"Why?"

"You'll need the practice. You can work it in with your sword work."

Rin crossed his arms. "That doesn't tell me why."

"I told you 'why'. You'll need the practice."

"Yukio."

"Nii-san."

Rin huffed. "Just tell me why you're going to make me get all bruised up!"

Yukio waved his hand dismissively. "You'll heal quickly."

"It still hurts, stupid four-eyes!" Rin growled. "And that's not the point! Just tell me why!"

"You'll find out with the rest of the class." With this, he sent a knowing look to Shura, who immediately brightened with glee.

She chuckled. "Oh, we are going to have so much fun!"

"I'm guessing you know?" Rin questioned, turning to glare at Shura.

"Of course. I am one of your teachers."

"Again, yet to be proven." Rin grumbled. "And you won't tell me why?"

"Nope!"

"Fine, but I'm not letting you torture me without some revenge."

"What do you-Gah!" Shura cried as the hand coated in melted wax found itself in her hair. Before her, Rin was grinning as he took his hand back and moved to stand up, shifting and away and picking up his still sheathed sword from where it had been resting against a wall.

"Oh, you are so dead!" Shura growled, summoning her own sword as she raced after the teen.

"Can you at least take this to the roof?" Yukio asked, only to be ignored. He sighed, turning to leave the room. At least this was a place they never used even when the exwires had stayed over. Behind him, the fight raged on.

But it was safe to say only Shiro ate well that night.

Rin yawned as he relaxed against the bench at the bus stop, his brother telling him to wait there until the other students arrived. The main campus school was finally over, but Rin had a feeling that that wasn't the case for cram school. Probably because Yukio had yet to announce to the class whatever it was that he had refused to tell him a week ago. Then there was the fact that Yukio, Shura, and even Shiro would vanish during the day preparing who knows what and telling him he had nothing to worry about.

And now he was waiting at a bus stop. Yeah, he didn't believe them for a second. Especially since he had been working with the three of them, mainly Shura though, to navigate unknown and hazardous areas for the last week as well. Something more hazardous than Mephy Land had been. Right, because that surely means he has nothing to worry about. Nothing at all.

Yeah right.

'Even Kuro wouldn't tell me anything.' Rin mentally grumbled, a long sigh passing his lips and he turned to glare at the cat sidhe resting on his shoulder.

"Oi! Okumura!" Rin turned towards the call of his name and smiled when he saw three familiar silhouettes in his vision.

"Hey!" Rin called back happily, sitting up to greet them.

"So, got any idea what we're doing here?" Shima asked, tilting his head at the other teen.

Rin shrugged his shoulders. " No clue. My brother just said to sit here and wait after school got out, same as you. Nothing else."

"Well, we know it has something to do with cram school." Suguro spoke up, placing the bag he had been carrying with him down beside the Rin's own which he knew was at his feet. Next to that, his sword and cane sat as well, easily within reach. "Especially since we had to pack for overnight."

"Think it's something similar to the exwire exam?" Shima asked.

"It's probably something a little more difficult than that." Konekomaru spoke up. "Afterall, they want to prepare us so it would have to be the next level up from both the amusement park and the exam. Obviously we aren't going to be in a building, if some of the necessities we were asked to bring are any indication." Necessities such as camping gear, flashlights, and other additional outdoors equipment.

"Plus, Yukio wanted me to get used to maneuvering around a messy area." Rin grumbled, remembering how many times he tripped and ran into things.

"Could be the woods." Suguro suggested. Rin's ear perked a bit when he heard Kuro purr at the suggestion.

"Oh! Will you be alright, Rin?" Shiemi's voice carried through the air and they all turned to see her and Izumo coming towards them.

"Yeah, I'll be fine. Don't worry so much!" Rin replied, waving his hand dismissively. He paused when he felt everyone staring at him. "What!?"

"You are a magnet for trouble." Izumo explained, raising an eyebrow at the teen on the bench.

"You'll probably trip on a branch as soon as we enter the forest." Konekomaru said, laughing a little.

"I will not!" Rin protested.

"You say that now…" Suguro trailed off with a sigh.

"Good, you're all here." Yukio's voice cut in, making them all turn to him and Shura. "So, as you know summer has just started. While I'm sure many of you wanted to go home, that will not be the case. Instead, you'll be participating in a three day long combat training camp where I and Kirigakure will be watching over you."

"S'up!" Shura chimed in.

"This training camp is also a test to see if you are fit to take part in missions, so put your spirit into it!"

Everyone cheered in excitement and soon they were piling into the bus to take them down to the forest.

The moment the bus dropped them off at the entrance of the forest, Rin could feel the gazes of his friends once more.

"No! No hovering, damnit!" He growled at the group.

"We'll need to move quickly." Yukio spoke up. "As nice as the forest seems now, it will be swarming with minor demons at night. We'll need the camp set up before then."

"Right, so let's go!" Shima said, taking a step forward only to freeze as a spider dropped down from a tree branch. With a scream, he launched himself away from it and began spraying himself with the bug spray he packed.

"Uh, what's Shima doing?" Rin asked, staring in confusion at the flailing outline. To him, all he saw was Shima move forward before a small speck of blue dropped down before him, leading to the current predicament.

"Oh, a spider dropped down in front of Shima." Konekomaru explained nonchalantly, as though this was an everyday thing. "He can't stand bugs. He's always been like this." That last part was added due to the clear confusion on Rin's face.

"Why can't he stand bugs?" Kuro wondered, tilting his head at the pink haired teen. "They can be fun to chase!" Rin snorted at the words, hand coming up to his shoulder where the cat sidhe was resting to scratch his ear.

"Let's get a move on!" Yukio called, beginning to make his way down the path. The other students began to follow

"Oi! Brat!" Shura called to Rin, making him look over at her before he could make his way down the path. She hefted up her bag and offered it out to him, despite the fact that he couldn't see it. "Carry this for me."

"What?! I have my own bag!"

"And me!"

"And Kuro to worry about! Carry it yourself!"

"But it's heavy." Shura whined. "And I know you can do it, sight or not. It probably won't even impact you that much!"

"Does it look like a care?"

"Does this mean you can't do it?" Shura asked, knowing exactly what she was doing. Rin could never ignore a challenge.

"What? Of course I can! I just don't want to!"

"I don't know." Shura shrugged. "Seems to me you can't lift it. Maybe I was wrong about your strength."

"Can't-? I'll show you, hag!" With that, Rin turned around and Shura secured her pack on top of the one Rin was already carrying.

As they made their way down the path, Rin couldn't help but be in awe at all the sounds and smells reaching his senses. His cane was clutched firmly in his hand, taking note of all the changes in the ground and Kuro now resting on the backpacks to let him know about branches overhead. Suddenly, a few more specks of blue entered his darkened sight, zipping around the group of students. If Rin had to guess, especially by Shima's sudden scream, more bugs had made themselves known. He couldn't help but be transfixed by the sudden appearance of them zipping their way across his vision, like pixies in fairy tales. The soft blue glow of the flames was so similar to the faint stars he remembered being in the night sky, especially as his head tilted up to follow the direction of the small creatures.

His foot caught on something.

He yelped, arms flailing only to be pulled back from his face plant.

"Watch it!" Suguro growled at the shorter teen. "Told you that you were a trouble magnet!"

"I was fine before that! It was one mistake, so don't start thinking you need to watch my every move!" Rin shot back before huffing. "But thanks."

"Whatever," Suguro dismissed, shaking the arm that had been used to catch Rin out. Why had he been so heavy? His eyes looked over the other boy only to widen in shock at the extra bag on Rin's back. "Why are you carrying two bags!?"

Rin huffed. "It's no big deal. They barely weigh anything."

"That's not what I asked!"

"Come on. You know I can handle it." Rin huffed, glaring at Suguro. Afterall, he knew Rin's secret.

"I know, but if you trip again, not everyone can pull you back up."

"Then I won't trip."

A scoff.

"I won't!"

"Sure you won't, airhead." Suguro grumbled, mentally making sure he was next to Rin until they made it to the campsite.

"I can feel your mother hening." Rin grumbled, beginning to walk forward. "Though I guess it makes sense since you are a rooster."

"What did you say, you monkey!?"

"Just calling it as I see it!"

"You can't see!"

"So what does that say about you!?"

Up at the front of the group, Yukio smiled.

The group finally made it to the open plain that would serve as their camping site.

"Ok, this will be our campsite." Yukio said, placing his own pack down as well as shedding his coat (much to the amazement of the other students). "The girls will work with Kirigakure to make the circle around the campsite to protect it from demons. The boys will work on putting up the tents and setting up the site itself."

The students all chimed in with agreement. The girls set out to the outer rim and began painting out the circle Shura had given them to surround the camp with. The boys each split up to put up the tents. Rin was with Suguro who had given the teen the task of securing the tents to the ground while he himself evened out the tent.

By the time they were done with starting a fire for the upcoming night, Rin's sensitive ears caught the sound of a knife attempting to slice through what he would guess was a potato before a small hiss came from Izumo. Sighing he made his way over to where their forms were searching through what had to be bags of food supplies.

"Give me that." He demanded, hands reaching out for the knife and potato.

"But Rin…" Shiemi trailed off, but it was clear what she was trying to say. This wasn't his kitchen. He could not find his way around things as easily.

"Nope, nope, nope, nope!" Rin huffed, shuffling his way to the grill. "You kept me from cooking at the restaurant after the exam but I refuse to not cook here."

"Do you want to get burned that badly?" Suguro grumbled, hand running down his face in frustration.

Rin shot him a look. "Look, this whole thing is probably going to suck, but if I can't at least do one thing I'm good out here, then who is to say I can't even help you guys out here." Rin crossed his arms. "There's a reason I asked you all not to hover. Sure, help here and there isn't...horrible I guess, but how will I ever be able to do something myself if you don't let me try."

Around him, everyone fell silent as they took in what their friend said. Sure, they were worried about him being in the woods without being able to see his way around. There would be so many obstacles to face, many more than there were at Mephy Land. But, at the same time, if he was going to be a capable exorcist within whatever limitations he had, they needed to reach those limitations first by finding out what he truly can and can't do.

Still, he was their friend. "Rin…." Shiemi spoke up once again, only to be cut off by Yukio.

"Let him do it." He spoke, pushing up his glasses to hide how much those words truly affected him. "But we'll help you set up."

Rin huffed, but shot his brother a grin. "Of course! What, you want me to dig through some weird bag without supervision? As good as my sense of smell is, even I won't risk that."

So Yukio, knowing his brother much better than the others, helped Rin set up his station to cook, dictating where each ingredient was placed and each utensil. He stayed nearby as Rin cooked, reminding his brother where the occasional thing was, but didn't have to do it often. By the time the meal was done, everyone's mouths were watering at the familiar smell of Rin Okumura's cooking.

As it was served out, complements were once again given out as they all tasted his cooking. Rin preened under the attention, a wide smile on his lips. When the meal was finished and the sun was still setting, the students began joking around and having a good time. Off on the sidelines, Shura and Yukio watched them all laugh and shout. At some point, Shima leaned over to whisper something to Rin only to be smacked in the head by Suguro who was explaining "You can't just ask that!" to the pink haired student. Shiemi was chuckling at the group while both Izumo and Konekomaru were shaking their heads.

"It's nice to see them getting along." Yukio sighed. "Rin's never had many...friends before."

"You'd think people would befriend him just for his food." Shura hummed, taking a sip from her beer.

"Well, his temper always showed before the food."

"Ah. Makes sense then."

Yukio looked at her out of the corner of his eye. "You put down the correct circle, right?"

Shura pouted at him, flicking her now empty beer can at him. "Who do you take me for? Of course I did."

"Meaning, you double checked the work Kamiki and Moriyama put down."

"I'm sure the kids wrote it down correctly."

"Shura, if something happens because you didn't check the circle-"

"Calm down, four-eyes." She sighed, face suddenly serious. "Look, I know why you're worried. The kid's a bit of a trouble magnet and the others then get stuck in the crossfire. That circle is strong enough to keep out some of the highest level of demons. In fact you know that both Shiro and I made sure it would be able to hold for a little while against a Demon King. That way, if something happens like at Mephy Land, if something happens that is more than a few familiars, then we have some time to alert Shiro where you know he's standing by." She opened up a new can of beer. "Nothing bad will happen, and if it does, then we're ready."

"Right, sorry...I'm just…" Yukio sighed as he trailed off, shaking his head.

"If you'd like, I'll lend you a beer to calm down."

"I'm not drinking." Yukio huffed, glaring at her. "Besides, neither are you. We're supposed to be working."

"Eh...it's fine." She looked up at the sky, noting how dark it was before shooting an arm out to point at the students. "Now go tell them what they have to do!"

"You're supposed to supervise them as well!"

Shura rolled her eyes. "Yeah, yeah. Whatever. Let's get this started!"

With that, she pushed herself off of the ground and made her way to the students.

"Oi, brats! Get over here! Four-eyes is going to tell you what you need to do!"

Behind her, Yukio could only sigh as he followed.

So that was that! Super fluffy but a long chapter for mostly fluff. I hope you all enjoyed it! Next chapter things start to happen (I think. I have no control over my writing).

Also, for those curious, this is my explanation behind Rin's sight. Now this may change slightly in future chapters as I try to make my brain figure out how to explain it. So basically, the way it works is that, much like when the fire did not harm those he loves, it is also attempting to compensate with his sight and his desire to see. Creatures with heartbeats and a living force (plants not counted) tend to give off an easy almost heat signature to latch onto for the fire. The way the fire works is that, since every time the fire comes out is with a small/big burst of fire the fire (now at full strength) can latch onto more things such as walls, trees, rocks, etc. And it is more detail. It is become these bursts almost allow the fire to spread out before settling back down. Like, a light on a camera. A quick flash to light up the dark to show the photo, only the light doesn't fade since Rin's flames are now fully powerful. So the burst of the flames is like the camera flash but Rin's vision is the photo, forever able to make out the stuff in the dark (unless something comes in to weaken his flames as shown with the holy water). It could even be compared to echo location.

When Rin was focusing on the candle, he was using the connection of his sight to try to light it, but that type of connection only made his flames adjust so he could see it (which he technically did want to do). When his flames gave the small explosion at the end of the training, I meantioned he could almost see the room because he could. There was a burst of flames reacting to his wish to see, so yes he could have seen it if he had been able to control the burst of flame and keep the connection going as the flames died down. (not out. To put his flames out would probably hurt him. To put them out would mean he can't see. But the flames can die down to the soft light could now project on/from the objects.)

Now the other thing is that, when Rin has full access to his flame-y sight, there will be things he can probably never see. The sky is one of those things, There is nothing for the flames to latch on to for his sight and the sun in general is too far away. If he were to latch onto the sky, the boy is latching onto air in which case then his whole world would be blue. Water is probably another thing he can't see. This more has to do with all the life forms in water or, again, if it was raining it would be pretty hard to see. A flat plane may have soft high lights or be a very light blue, something similar to how walls would be.

(I could explain more but I am still working out how to word it myself. I hope it kinda makes sense? I usually try to give a reasoning beyond the author said so.)

Again! Thank you all for reading this!

Feel free to comment, ask questions, ect.

Until next time! :D
