Chapter Twelve - Magic

"You hold the joystick with both hands. This way. See? Your left thumb will guide the D-pad and the left thumb holds the analog stick. Index and middle fingers will be on the shoulder buttons, L1, L2, R1, R2. The right thumb you also use to press square, x, triangle and circle."

George's mind tried to follow her instructions but they were worse than Snape's Potion Classes. Too many things to do at the same time and if you miss a step, you are doomed.

Kagome put his hands and fingers in the correct position. It felt weird to be touched like this. It has been quite some time since he felt the soft touch of a girl's hands.

"It's starting! Kami-Sama, I love this opening."

'I'm having these weird thoughts lately…'

George watched the myriad of sounds, colours, images, fights, coming from the T.V. screen. He was used to the moving photos and paints, even wizard's chess, but they never felt so real, yet not real.

Now, he had to choose between a staff, a shield and a sword.

"What fits you better, a magic user, a defensive or an offensive player?"

"Magic, of course."

"A wizards? You don't look like someone who waits on the sidelines for the perfect time to attack, that waits forever to cast that big fireball."

"Wizards aren't like that."

"How would you know?"

"Why would they stand back? If a spell is good for a sneak attack, there must be another good for face to face confrontations. To disarm your foe, petrify enemies."

"Your imagination is much better than mine." Yeah, imagination, sure. "Do you believe in magic, Georgie?"

"You don't?" He smirked at her. "Less talk, more play. Come on, I need to talk to this Kairi girl." He didn't want to risk saying the wrong thing. Spending his whole life surrounded by wizards, it's hard to pass off as a common citizen. If only she wasn't a muggle…

"Aye, boss. Now you jump pressing…"

If Ron thought chess was fun, he would have a stroke with a video game. The main character, Sora, followed all the commands he did on the joystick. The music and sounds completed the experience. And that dog and duck that followed Sora helped a lot. He was fascinated with the Gunblade he saw with one of the side characters, Leon, if his memories were correct. He would sure manufacture some toy swords enchanted with no-heat fireballs to sell. George internally grinned with the perspective.

George only took notice of the hour when he heard a soft snore. Kagome was sleeping leaning over him. He paused the game and picked his pocket watch. Three in the morning. He smiled at her trust in him. They knew each other for what, a couple weeks? And yet she felt safe enough to bring him to her home and sleep soundly with him still there. George made a silent vow to take care of her. Even if she has not said anything, he never saw Kagome with anyone else. He didn't know why, but George was sure there was a reason for her to not have loads of friends or a boyfriend glued to her. He was sure if he met someone like this little Asian girl before, he would sure be married by now.
