1981

Snape honestly was at a loss... he didn't know what to think. He just stared at the goblin relay the Potters' last will and testament.

He didn't know why he was here. He was the reason they were dead, after all... He had sold them out to the Dark Lord... maybe not intentionally but his actions directly resulted in their death. He overheard part of a prophecy... and immediately took it to "His Lord"... once the Dark Lord translated what the over poetic gibberish meant... Snape immediately ran to Albus and begged him to hide Lily and her family.

From that point on, Severus Snape was a spy. However, the damage was done. Lily had to spend the rest of the war in hiding... for the safety of her child, who was prophesized to defeat the Dark Lord...

And yet... who Lily trusted to look after the child.

"Can you repeat that?" Snape stared at the Goblin.

The Goblin glared, believing this a waste of valuable time. Still he tapped his finger over the passage on the Scroll. An image of Lily appeared... with her lovely red hair and cheeky smile... yet that smile was sadder then normal.

"Dear Severus," said the Illusion, "Firstly I want to say how sorry I am. I thought of reaching out to you repeatedly, but could never build up the nerve. Some Gryffindor, right? If I had, maybe you wouldn't have felt so alone you thought your only option was turning to The Dark Lord. Part of me was relieved when Albus relayed your message. It meant I hadn't truly lost my friend... I can die happy knowing that...

"On my insistence, James set up a trust fund for you. Ten thousand galleons a month, for as long as the Potter businesses are still making money" She winked, "Please don't spend it all on potion ingredients.

"In addition, I leave you my greatest treasure... because I honestly can't think of anyone better suited to protect him. While he will be living with my sister, and before you say anything, I'm sure, whatever differences Petunia and I had, she will do the right thing and love my son like her own. I would do nothing less for her Dudders... But I trust you to look after him where she can't. To protect him where the blood wards can't.

"You remember that little 'Blood Brothers Oath' I made us do as children? While turns out that was a good idea as now the Wards can be tuned to you. You can give Harry everything I won't be able to... I don't expect to live Sev... but Harry will. Turns out it was a self fulfilling prophecy you gave old Moldy wart. I have cast some impressive magics around my son. If I do say so myself.

"The blood wards will keep him safe from dark magic so long as he lives with a relative. Which, because of the Blood Oath, you count as. Then James and I performed an ancient ritual, so that on our death... all our magic will be transfered to our son. Then I created a rune. Fueled by the ultimate sacrifice of a loved one, this rune can do the impossible. It can bend luck to such extremes that little Harry could survive even the killing curse. This rune will cause the spell to backfire. A one in a billion chance, you say? That's nothing for this sweet little baby. It really is my best work." She said proudly, that cheeky grin on her face.

She quickly grew more serious, "You see Sev, even if Voldemort doesn't find us... we need to die in order to give Harry the power to defeat Voldemort... For his own safety... I personally molded my own son into the most destructive weapon on the planet... That rune will allow circumstances to fall like dominos, allowing him to survive anything. He can still get hurt, and old age will eventually claim him... but nothing can actually kill him. The rune only manipulates things so he will live, so don't worry about losing at cards to a 11 year old.

"It also won't keep him out of trouble, and at 1 year old, I can tell you he has certainly inherited a knack for that from his brat of a father." she added playfully, before moving on, "I know Dumbledore will want to start training him immediately, but I ask he be given a normal life for as long as possible...

"I know you can give him a good life once he returns to our world Sev. I trust no one more then you to do so, and try not to bother Petunia too much. I know how much you love to get under her skin and you will no doubt have issue with how she is raising Harry... Oh! I suppose I should make this official. Severus Snape, I, being sound in mind and body, hereby do make you the Magical Guardian to my son, Harold Severus Potter, on the event of my death... and second in line should something unpleasant happen to Petunia, Rassillion forbid... I know you'll do right by him... please keep him safe..."

"I will." Snape felt his very soul swear.

Present Day.

"Severus..." Madame Poppy Pomfrey barged into his Quarters, not quite an hour after giving the boys their medical exams. She had sent them all away while she read over the files. She said she wanted to discuss things with him in the morning... and downright threatened Snape to come this time. Clearly, whatever she found, had been important enough not to wait until tomorrow.

Before Snape could scowl at her for the intrusion, she flung a scroll at him. "I can't report Harry's abuse to the Ministry!" she was in a right tizzy.

Severus scowled, "And why-"

She didn't even let him get the sentence out before screaming, "He's a HYBRID, Severus!"

Severus immediately froze. "What?"

"He has a dormant, third Chromosome chain! A THIRD chain!" Poppy threw up her arms, "It's obvious he inherited it from Lily, but based on the recessive nature of the gene it's just as likely her own chain was dormant..."

Severus looked over the scroll indeed finding the recording of Harry's third chain... there were several magical creatures that had such a recessive Chromosome chain. Normally they were activated around puberty but it wasn't that uncommon for them to remain dormant for several generations... those creatures were more often then not feared for their magical power. The chain contained so many genes involving magical attributes...

Unfortunately, Wizarding understanding of genetics was limited... the only way to learn just what the chain was... was to activate it with a magical surge... but their was no telling what Harry would become... he might even turn into a succubus.

"Did you know!?" It came out as an accusation.

Snape gulped, "It's... possible... not even Lily knew." that was a lie, albeit mostly to himself... he didn't want to believe Lily wouldn't have trusted him with something so important.

The signs were there. Lily's refusal to go to the hospital wing... her odd phrases and dedication to the rights of all beings... she knew she had a dormant chain, making herself legally a hybrid... even if it was never activated... if she got ridiculed for coming from a muggle family... she would have been outright hunted when the Dark Lord first came to power... the man would have paid special attention to recruiting her... and if he couldn't... he'd kill her...

She likely discovered the chain due to dabbling in blood magic... which would also explain why her blood was so much more potent for such spell casting... she hadn't even trusted her Sev with the discovery...

Snape sighed, "Lily was abandoned at an orphanage when she was a baby, no records of her birth parents were ever found. She was soon adopted by the Evans, who didn't tell Lily of her origins until after she got her Hogwarts' letter... it was part of the reason Petunia was so jealous of her. Lily was their parents favorite because they had chosen her. Her first display of accidental magic was to fix her adoptive mother's ovaries so that she was no longer barren. Petunia might have been their 'miracle' but Lily made it possible."

Seeing Poppy's confusion, Snape added, "You really think the Blood Brothers Oath ended at me? I was a Guinea pig, albeit a willing one. Lily wanted to find a way to become biologically related to her family... it was very important to her. Is the only reason I let her test it on me. Then she used it on her parents and sister... it's the reason she doesn't have a biological family member left outside me or Petunia. Her 'Cousins' don't actually have any biological relation to her."

Poppy nodded, then sighed, "This means we will have to do a more in depth scan of you." at Sev's blank look, she added, "It's possible, as in near impossible not to have, for Lily to passed this third dormant chain to you through the Blood Oath."

"and as you said..." Sev groaned, "We can't report Harry's abuse without revealing his Hybrid Nature. He would never be able to inherit the Potter seat on the Ministry, nor his family vault... I will need to find some other way to gain custody of Harry..." and make the Dursley's pay.

"Why aren't you mad at me?" The Doctor suddenly asked, later in the day

Jack was currently sitting on the grass, under the tree by the lake, doing his homework. Opening and closing his hands as he let balls of magic form. He was supposed to try and get the ball of light to become solid, dispell it, then repeat... for one hour.

Jack would usually skive off work, when their was no way to prove he had done it... but this... this was magic... he was learning real magic... something he wanted ever since he was a child. The first time...

Jack supposed it should have been rather obvious, there was no logical way the Doctor wouldn't know his species was magical in nature.

The result of alchemical engineering. While pregnancy potions were popular for gay wizards, it also becomes more likely that the child will be gay themselves. It is, after all, genetic.

A Wizard developed a pregnancy potion that could be passed down genetically... the pheromone thing, and their natural beauty, was added more as an unintended side effect... making them a genetically engineered subspecies. That was rather popular when Earth first cracked open the genetic code. They started splicing together all kinds of lifeforms just for the fun of it... like humanoid trees...

Jack smiled as the light in his hand became solid by letting his mind wander. He casually threw the ball into the air. then watched it slowly fall back into his hand... weighing as much as a feather. It wasn't any good as a weapon yet, not even as strong as an ant throwing a punch... but it was the first step... the first proof... Jack wasn't a squib anymore.

"Jack!" The Doctor begged.

Jack sighed, "What, exactly, am I supposed to be mad about?"

The Doctor gulped, clutching his robe. "I... I knew... how to save your children..."

Jack sighed, "These kid brains really have affected you a lot more then me. Probably because you have a lot more to feel guilty about. Where as I long since came to terms with the fact I'm a monster..."

"Jack?..."

Jack gave yet another sigh, "I was a Time Agent, Doc. I know all about Earth shattering paradoxes and the morally grey things we need to do to preserve the timeline... I know you would have told me if you could... in all honesty you probably shouldn't have told me all my future children would be like me... though... I am grateful for that little insight into my future... it won't be as lonely as I feared..."

"It will be harder for you to carry a baby to term, due to your new magic, but... but the kids will live for billions of years... and they will spawn an entire race of Boekind... you'll even be able to colonize your own planet, eventually."

Jack... smiled, "Good to know. Though, that's probably enough Spoilers for me. I would like at least a few surprises for my new race... it's good... having a people again..."

The Doctor eyed him, Jack sighed, "Guess it's my turn to be over emotional." He threw the ball out towards the lake, and watched it dispell as it hit the water, creating a minor splash.

Jack looked at the Doctor, "My home is gone. The future is always changing. The 51st century I come from was one of the timelines that just puffed out of existence. Happens all the time really... I suppose I new it was always theoretically possible but... now, the Time Agents that survived exist as anomalies... Something they always despised. Things that exist despite having no true origin in history... Everything I know is gone... then... you made it worse."

The Doctor hung his head.

"I'm a Time Agent, Doctor. I know who Harry Potter is... or rather what he was supposed to be... He was supposed to reunite Muggles and magical beings of all kinds... he was supposed to create a utopia of global peace and prosperity... he was supposed to lay the ground work so that my future was at least possible... you meddled, and an entire future got wiped from existence... your supposed to know better... but it's not like I never made similar mistakes, ask any Time Agent... just... not to this extent..."

"We can fix this." The Doctor assured, "We can help Harry become the champion he is supposed to become... We can put things right."

"No... we can't... You'll overshadow him... just as you always do everything... but who knows what he will become now that we set him on this new Timeline..." Jack looked at the Doctor. "I imagine you do."

The Doctor closed his eyes, "It's too hard to tell, too many possible timelines... doesn't help I'm a part of things now... I can't see my own future."

"What if it wasn't our future?" Jack pressed.

The Doctor frowned, looking at his fellow boy, "You mean if we left?"

Jack nodded, "There are plenty of realities where a Slytherin Harry Potter still led the world to greatness."

The Doctor sighed, "That was before we stepped in... Now... he'll die in his second year without our help."

"... fuck..."
