AN: Since it has been awhile since my last Ghost and Molly McGee story, I decided to make a new Molly x Libby fanfic. This will be my first Ghost and Molly McGee fanfic that won't be a one-shot, so I hope to write the second chapter soon. I hope you would enjoy my new story!
Chapter 1
The Morning Announcement
It was a peaceful night in Brighton. Scratch, who had been trying to scare as many people as possible in an attempt to impress the Ghost Council had decided that it was time to go to sleep. He floated up to the attic of the house to see Molly on her bed, texting her girlfriend, Libby.
The ghost simply rolled his eyes at that. As glad as he was that Molly had a girlfriend and he could do whatever he wanted for a change, it got pretty annoying how Molly just had to text her every single day.
Upon noticing how late it was getting, Molly decided to say goodbye to Libby before she texted, 'Goodnight, Libby! I love you!', followed by the icon of a heart. Libby then replied, 'I love you too, Molly! Goodnight!' Molly soon jumped in surprise as she noticed Scratch.
"Oh, hi, Scratch!" Molly waved. "How long have you been there?"
"Long enough to see that you've been texting Libby for a long time." Scratch noticed.
"We have! I'm just so lucky to have a wonderful girlfriend like Libby, and I have you to thank for this! If you haven't encouraged me to confess my feelings towards Libby at our first sleepover, none of this would have happened. Thank you so much, Scratch!"
Molly then hugged Scratch tightly in gratitude much to Scratch's annoyance.
"Alright. You can let go now." Scratch pulled himself away from Molly.
As Molly let go, she laid back down on her bed. "I'm still surprised by how well Mom, Dad, and Darryl are taking my relationship with Libby. They act as though they knew about my crush on her this whole time."
"Believe it or not, your crush on Libby really wasn't that hard to figure out, Moll!" Scratch gave an amused smile. "You even sang a song about how much you didn't want to lose her when you wanted to reveal my existence to her."
"Oh, right." Molly remembered. "Even so, I appreciate what you have done for me and Libby. You made us so happy!"
"Whatever. You're just lucky that the Chairman still believes that I'm doing a good job at haunting you." retorted Scratch.
After a few moments, Molly suddenly let out a yawn as she rubbed her eyes. It was obvious to Scratch that Molly was getting sleepy, so he decided to float to his dollhouse to get some sleep himself.
"Well, don't let me keep you up! Goodnight, Molly!" Scratch said before he disappeared into the dollhouse.
"Goodnight, Scratch!" Molly smiled before she turned off the lights and went to sleep.
The next morning, Molly got up from her bed as she got ready for school today. After getting dressed, she walked down to the kitchen to eat breakfast with her family. Molly's dad, Pete cooked everyone's breakfast before setting the plates on the table, to which Scratch ate a stack of pancakes in one bite.
"That was delicious! How about making me some more pancakes, Pete?" Scratch asked.
"Um, sure, Scratch." Pete said before bringing his attention to his kids. "Alright, kids! Hurry up and eat your breakfast! You wouldn't want to be late for school!"
"You heard him, Molly! You wouldn't want to keep your girlfriend waiting!" Darryl teased his sister.
Knowing fully well that Darryl was referring to Libby, Molly rolled her eyes in annoyance. "Oh, grow up, Darryl!"
Molly's mom, Sharon couldn't help but smile as she was happy that her daughter had a wonderful girlfriend like Libby.
"I'm just so proud of you, Molly! I just know that you and Libby would be happy together!" Sharon smiled.
Pete soon sniffed as he started to get emotional. "Oh, Sharon! Our kids are growing up so fast!"
Unable to contain his emotions, Pete hugged his wife as he started crying. This just made Molly and Darryl feel awkward about the situation.
"So, we should just hurry up and eat our breakfast before Dad somehow makes this even more awkward, right?" Darryl whispered to his older sibling.
Molly nodded. "Yeah, definitely!"
After the family finished their breakfast, Molly and Darryl were dropped off at the school by their parents. Molly soon opened her locker before taking some of her school supplies out.
"Um, hi, Molly!"
Upon hearing a familiar voice, Molly felt her heart skip a beat. She turned around as she greeted Libby with a friendly smile.
"Hi, Libby!"
With a shy smile, Libby reached into her backpack and pulled out a bouquet of flowers.
"Um, I picked out this bouquet of flowers for you, Molly!" Libby blushed as she shyly looked away. "I hope you like it!"
Upon noticing the flowers, Molly let out a gasp of delight. The flowers looked so beautiful.
"Sweet baby corn! I love it!" Molly exclaimed. "Thank you so much, Libby! You're the best girlfriend ever!"
Libby was caught off guard when Molly embraced her in a tight hug. After getting over her surprise, Libby hugged Molly back. Soon, Scratch appeared in front of the two girlfriends as he looked annoyed with them.
"You know, I'm pretty sure that this school has a rule against public displays of affection."
"Don't worry, Scratch. I promise I won't take your best friend away from you." Libby playfully teased Scratch.
"Oh, very funny, Libby!" Scratch retorted
Molly giggled before she said, "Okay! Let's just head over to class before you two get yourselves into another competition over who should be my best friend."
With that, Molly and Libby walked to their first class together. Once the school day began, all of the students were bored as they listened to the morning announcements. Before class started, there was one more thing that the school wanted to announce.
"Before we begin the school day, we would like to announce a special event." The voice from the intercom announced, gaining the attention of the students. "At the end of the week, we will be having a school dance, so make sure to bring your sweetheart and have a fun time at the school this Friday!"
Molly had no idea that this school was going to be having a dance later this week. A smile soon formed across Molly's face as she came up with an idea.
"Scratch, did you hear that?" Molly whispered to her ghost friend.
"Not really." Scratch let out a yawn. "I kind of dozed off the moment we entered the classroom."
"They just announced a school dance this Friday! I might be able to ask Libby to go with me." Molly explained.
Even though Scratch was glad that Molly and Libby were happy together, he didn't think it was a good idea for Molly to ask Libby to go to a social event with her.
"Are you sure about that, Molly? You know how Libby gets whenever she's around a bunch of people." Scratch pointed out.
"But this might be a good opportunity to get her out of her comfort zone! I think she might end up enjoying the dance!" Molly explained.
"Fine! But don't blame me if she says no."
Once it was time for lunch, Molly decided to make her move. She got her lunch before sitting next to Libby at the table.
"Hi, Molly!" Libby greeted. "How were your classes today?"
"Oh, they were alright! Can't complain!" Molly casually replied before she decided it was time to ask Libby about the dance. "So, that school dance sounds really fun doesn't it?"
With a sigh, Libby said, "Sorry, Molly. I know what you are going to ask me, but I don't think I would feel that comfortable with going to the dance on Friday."
Surprised by Libby's answer, Molly turned towards Scratch, who had a smug look on his face.
"I hate to say I told you so, Molly! Oh, who am I kidding! I love to say it!" Scratch laughed, much to Molly's annoyance.
Libby simply decided to ignore Scratch as she continued to talk to Molly.
"Listen, Molly. I don't want you to get the wrong idea. I always love spending time with my girlfriend! It's just that there will be hundreds of people there watching me and I don't think I'll be able to handle it."
"Really? This coming from the girl who managed to improvise her singing act at the last minute on the day of the talent show?" Molly asked with an amused smile.
At that moment, Libby took a moment to think about what Molly said before she started to giggle.
"Okay! Point taken! But the dance is only in a few days and I'm pretty sure neither of us know how to dance."
"That doesn't mean we can't learn to dance together! I think it might be fun!" Molly smiled.
Deep down, Libby liked the idea of dancing with Molly. She would actually be lying if she didn't say that the dance sounded kind of fun. After some consideration, Libby made her decision.
"Okay! I think I might be willing to give it a try! I have to help my mom with the bookstore later today, but I think we can have our practice session tomorrow after school."
"Sounds good to me! I'm looking forward to tomorrow!" said Molly.
Despite how nervous she felt, Libby thought she should give the dance a chance. The thought that she would be with Molly the whole time was enough to put her worries at ease because there was no one else she'd rather go to the dance with.
