Chapter 2

We left off with Kagome going to check in on Shippo, so here is what happened with the others. The own known half demon is sleeping on the couch, Miroku was watching the demon to keep an eye on him, Sango was making a coffee for the four of them.

Sango placed the cups down on the table with milk and sugar. She got a cup for herself and one for Miroku. He nodded in thanks "So how is sleeping beauty?" asked Sango as she stood next to her husband to watch her husband.

"Nothing yet, but he should wake up soon"

Sango turned to Miroku "Do you think we should stay here until we you know if she will be ok?" As Miroku talked he turned towards Sango and so they did not see the demon move around and slowly wake up.

As the demon wakes up to the sounds of people talking to themselves he thinks to himself "Oh Kami, where am I?" Inuyasha (the half demon) looks over to the noise that woke him and sees two people talking "Gezz, they are load… Wait where am I? who are they? What have you gotten into now Inuyasha?"

Inuyasha decides to make himself known "Hey!"

The two people stop talking and turn towards him. Inuyasha looks at them and continues "Where am I? Who are you?"

The man places his mug on the table and clears his thought "Well, look who's up… do you need anything for your head?"

"What I need is to know where I am"

"Gezz, this one could be a bit more grateful you know"

"I should be grateful? About what? I don't know you or how I got here" Inuyasha stands up but he is still a little bit drunk, so he wobbles a bit while standing.

The woman places her mug down, and starts to move towards the demon "Why you.." she was about to continue but her husband stops her.

"Now Sango, he is right. Please forgive us… it's been a long night, I'm Miroku Hoshi and this is my wife Sango, we are here with our friend Kagome, who found you by the way in the alleyway… a little worse for the wear I might add…"

Inuyasha sits down to get his head under control as Miroku talks. Before Miroku can finish Inuyasha crosses his arms and turns his head to the side and said "Well in case your friend didn't notice I'm a half demon I don't need their help"

"From what I saw you did need some help" The people in the room all turned to see who just spoke. Inuyasha was taken back by this woman and her beauty.

"Oh, Kagome how is Shippo?"

"He is back asleep now, thank you so much for taking care of him"

"Anytime Kagome" said Miroku

"I'm sorry you two had to stay so late…now how much do I owe you?" asked Kagome as she went to get her purse.

"Now Kagome you don't have to worry about that, but we have to go now" said Miroku as he placed down his cup down. Sango did the same and went to give Kagome a hug "We will be right down the hall if you need anything"

"I know, but don't you worry"

The two of them said good night and left to go to their apartment.

Inuyasha cleared his thoughts "So can I use your phone?"

"I wish you could, but they won't be fixed until tomorrow…What's your name?"

"Oh, I'm Inuyasha Takashi, well if your husband or someone would drive me I can pay them for their trouble"

"I'm sorry to disappoint but it's just Shippo and myself. You are welcome to stay here and call a cab tomorrow"

"Thanks"

Kagome went to her linen cupboard to get a blanket and a spare pillow for Inuyasha "Here you go" Inuyasha took them and nodded thanks.

"Well, I have had a night and a half so I'm off to bed. Let me know if you need anything"

"Sure, and thanks" Inuyasha watched as Kagome left the living room and tried to make himself comfy on the coach.

The next morning, Inuyasha got a rude awakening of banging and clanging. Inuyasha tried to ignore the sounds but he could not take it anymore, so he sat up quickly.

"What the hell is that sound!" he said in a grumpy loud voice. Inuyasha then put his hand to his head trying to remember where he was. Last night slowly came back to him as the smell of eggs came into the room.

Kagome came out of the kitchen with a hot cup of coffee on a tray with milk and placed it on the coffee table. It also had some medicine for Inuyasha.

"Sorry about that Inuyasha, I've made scrambled eggs with some toast and the phone will start working soon"

"Yeah, thanks" Inuyasha got the cup of coffee and started to drink

"So, do you want to talk about last night?"

"Not really"

"Well if it's worth anything I'm sorry for what happened"

"Feh, you didn't do anything, where did you find me?"

"Near a restaurant Rose"

"hmm, must have ended up there after the bar, why did you take me? You do know that I'm a half demon right? I could have hurt you… and all my bruises are gone"

"I don't care if I see someone who is hurt, they could be a demon, half demon or human we are all the same, you needed help so I helped. What's so wrong about that?"

Inuyasha had never met anyone like Kagome before. Sure he had met some people that have treated him well but he had not met anyone that would accept others for who they are.

Kagome got up "I'm just going to check on breakfast, holla if you need anything" she turned and went to back into the kitchen.

While she was gone Inuyasha got to look around the place. It was a modest little apartment. It had a toy box near the left wall and above that it had photos of Kagome and a child and some of just the child, some of Miroku and Sango and some of the four of them.

There was a simple TV and DVD and a nice rug and coffee table, but not much on the walls except a few children drawing pictures.

It was a nice enough place for a woman and a child. Just as Inuyasha was trying to get his thoughts in order a child's voice interrupted his thoughts "Hello mister"

Inuyasha turned his head and saw a child with bushie orange hair and green eyes. This child was watching him from the edge of the couch. "ahh, hello"

"Are you Kagome's friend?"

"um yeah kid"

"Good, she needs friends, do you have a wife?"

"What are asking kid?"

"I wanna make sure Kags is going to be ok after I leave"

"What do you mean?"

Just then Kagome comes back into the room and sees Shippo "Oh Shippo, your up early is everything ok?"

Shippo turns to Kagome "I feel funny Kagome, I did my breathing and everything but nothing is working"

Kagome rushes over to Shippo and knees down to check on him. She places her hand on his forehead "hmm, it does seem like you have a fever. I think I'll have to take you to the doctor. Wait here I'll get some things ready" Kagome rushes out of the living room to another room.

When she leaves Shippo gets a serious look on his face and turns to look at Inuyasha and asks "Well are you married?"

"Well….no kid"

Shippo nods "Kagome is very nice, she is a good cook and she is the best person in the world… but she needs someone to look after her"

Inuyasha goes over to Shippo "Hey kid your going to be ok, Kagome will take you doctor and you will be fine"

Shippo shook his head no "No, the doctor in my dream told me that it was my time, so I need a man to man promise"

"Ok, what promise?"

"That you will look after Kagome after I am gone"

"But kid your goanna be fine"

"Just promise ok, she is not going to handle being alone"

Kagome came back into the living room in a rush and picked up Shippo "I'm sorry Inuyasha but I've got to go. Miroku and Sango live in 306. Sango will be home if you need to call someone, but I have to go"

"Yeah sure, no problem"

As she picked up Shippo and left Shippo called over Kagome's shoulder "You promise?"

"Yea… kid I promise" Inuyasha called back.
