Chap 3- I don't own anything

Later that day Kagome was pacing back and forth in the waiting room. After Inuyasha visited Miroku and Sango, both Miroku and Sango wanted to support Kagome by showing up at the hospital.

Beep…Beep….Beep

"Come sit down Kagome, Shippo will be fine"

Beep…Beep…Beep

"I cant, Sango I just… I just got to…" Kagome was so nervous that she kept on walking and looked at the clock

"How long has it been? They should have finished by now" said Kagome

Beep..Beep..beep

"Now Kagome, you know the doctor is very good and will let us know" said Miroku

Beep..Beep

"I know Miroku, I just want to know how he is"

"Thanks again, Miroku and Sango, tell your boss I'm sorry for taking you away"

Beep

"Its no problem"

"Yea Kagome anytime"

Beeeee

Kagome looked towards the doors that Shippo had gone through. She suddenly felt this overwhelming feeling of dread. Then Shippo's doctor came through the doors. He was still in his scrubs. He had a sad look on his face. With the one look Kagome had tears on her face. She got closer towards the doctor. Miroku and Sango came over as well.

"Miss Higurashi please have a seat"

"No, thank you doctor. Now what has happened to my son"

"I really think you should have a seat"

"Please just sit down"

"Not until you sit down"

"Ok, I'm sitting down" she said sitting down

The doctor sat on the opposite side of Kagome and took her hands into his. "Now this is going to be hard to hear…but I'm sorry Miss Higurashi but Shippo didn't make it he was very strong bo…"

"Your wrong, give me my son!"

"Please Miss Higurashi calm down"

"Please is it money I have more" Kagome went to her purse, Sango went too Kagome "Its ok Kagome, you need to calm down"

"But… Sango… Sango… Sss…Oh Sango"

Sango went down to give Kagome a hug and to comfort her "I know, I know"

"Miss Higurashi please know we did everything we could but Shippo's heart was very weak and unfortunately there was nothing we could do"

"Please no! please my baby, my baby" Kagome's body started to shake. The doctor went to her "She's going into shock I need some help here"

Two or more nurses and another doctor came over and tried to calm her down. They gave her some medicine to help her sleep. They placed Kagome on a stretcher. The doctor turned to Miroku and Sango "We will keep watch over her. I'll get one of the nurses to let you know what room she will be in"

"Th…tha..thank you doctor" said Sango with tears in her eyes. The doctor then nodded his head "I have to go and check on my patients" He then turned and walked away.

Both Miroku and Sango held each other in a tight embrace crying for the loss and crying for Kagome.

A few days later Kagome had come out of hospital, and organised a small funeral for Shippo. He was buried next to Ami, his birth mother. Only a few people showed up - Miroku, Sango, one of Kagome's neighbours named Kaede and Kagome.

After the priest said his final words, Sango, Miroku and Kaede placed roses on the coffin and they all had a moment of silence for Shippo.

"Could I… I please have a moment with Shippo?" Kagome asked the others. They nodded their heads. Sango placed her hand on Kagome's shoulder "We will be near the cars when you are ready"

Kagome's eyes were fixed on the coffin and just nodded her head. Once the others were away Kagome went to stand next to the coffin she placed her hands on the coffin.

"Oh Shippo… I…I am… I am so sorry, you are the best…. The best child in…the whole world" Kagome turned to Ami's resting place and had a small smile on her face "You would be so proud of Shippo Ami, he…he always.. had a smile on… his..face…he is… with you now.."

She then turned back to Shippo's coffin "What am I going to do now?... who am I going to… have popcorn fights with…I just.. I just…don't know…..shall I sing for you? 'You are my sunshine…..you make…me..happy…when skys are grey..so… please don't take my sunshine…away'"

Kagome moved away from the coffin and placed her rose on top of the coffin. The people at the graveyard, thinking that she was finished, started to lower the coffin into the ground.

At first Kagome couldn't think, couldn't move. Once she was aware of what was going on she fell to her knees "DON'T PUT HIM DOWN THERE!" she screamed and crawled to the grave. She was about to slip in when a pair of arms pulled her back and into an embrace "sh..sh.. its ok" said the voice

"DON'T PUT HIM DOWN THERE!" she screamed again. The graveyard workers did not listen to her pleas. Once the coffin had got to the bottom the graveyard people started to place dirt on top. Kagome finally could not take it anymore and passed out.

The person holding her picked her up and took her to the cars and went to Miroku and Sango. Both saw the two of them coming towards them. Miroku came over "Inuyasha, what are you doing here? what happened to Kagome?"

"I went to the apartments and was told you guys would be here. I'm sorry about Shippo… She fainted when the people working here started to put the coffin in the ground and she just lost it." He handed Kagome over to Miroku "I think she needs to head home" Miroku took Kagome and placed her in their car and turned towards Inuyasha "Would you like to come with us?"

"Nah I have got things to do but I'll come check on her"

Miroku nodded his head "Yes, I hope to see you soon" Miroku got into the car and so did Sango and they drove off.

Inuyasha went to the grave diggers "Could you not see that she was in pain?"

"Look bud we are just doing our job"

"Yeah we don't get paid by the hour"

"Is that all that it is?" Inuyasha grabs his wallet and takes out some notes and threw the notes at them "Here" he then turns and storms off.

With Kagome, Miroku, Sango and Kaede. Once they had reached the apartments they placed Kagome in her room and waited in the living room for her to wake up. Sango made some coffee.

The room was dead silent and no one knew what to say or do. Kaede got a photo album and started to look at the photos of the little family that they had. Miroku seeing this came over and looked at the photos.

What seemed like hours of them looking at photos and crying over their loss, there came a knock at the door. Sango went to answer "Yes who is it?"

"It's Inuyasha Takahashi, I was here a couple of days ago"

Sango looked to Miroku and he nodded his head so Sango opened the door. Inuyasha came in with some flowers.

He looked around for Kagome "Is Kagome ok?"

"She has not been sleeping very well, I guess it all caught up with her… she is resting" said Sango in a hush voice.

Inuyasha looked towards the hallway with a sad look on his face.

"Look not to be rude or anything but what are you doing here?" Sango asked

"Keh… not that it is your business but I'm keeping my promise I made"

Sango looked at Inuyasha up and down "What promise?"

"Like I said it an't your business so butt out"

"Look if it involves Kagome it is!"

"Keh" said Inuyasha and turns his head towards the kitchen and crosses his arms

"Why you…"

"What my lovely wife is trying to say is that, we are all on edge at the moment and Kagome is in a very bad place right now and we are just trying to look after her… right dear" Miroku said as he gets up and places his hands on Sango's shoulders to calm her down.

Sango takes a deep breath to calm herself down "Sorry Mr Takahashi… I just… it's just hard right now… I had no right to take it out on you"

Inuyasha turns and looks at the couple and says "No problem.. look I know you lot don't know me that much…but I want to help… there is something about her… I don't know.."

Miroku, Sango and Kaede all share a knowing look. "Do you want me to take the flowers and you can sit with us? I think you would like to hear a story about how we met Kagome" said Sango. Inuyasha smiles and gives the flowers over to her. He then sits next to Kaede.
