Bullying never pays, and it Harriet Potter had what others who have been bullied could only dream about, a way to get revenge in a legal very public and very expensive way.
Harriet Potter was strange, evil and wicked and she did not deserve to be at Hogwarts. That was what the majority of Hogwarts thought, and Harriet was sick of it. Bad enough in her first year one of the students thought it a great idea to try and kill her in her first game as a seeker. Then someone thought it even better to try and kill her with a troll. She had been attacked by the defense teacher in her second year who tried to wipe her mind after she had to kill a basilisk with a sword and her own wits. She had been bit and Fawkes had cried over the wound. Her heart was deeply wounded as she had grown up in a loveless but not abusive home to come to a school that was abusive and cruel.
She had gained some allies in the years she had been at Hogwarts, but there were so many who were very cruel and evil to her. She did not deserve any of it. She was not the evil little girl so many thought, and even the Daily Prophethad picked up on how cruel those in Hogwarts were to her. He relations simply did not care and treated her much as they had for years, giving her food, shelter and not much else. Harriet bought much of her own clothing and such and had for years. Now after years of being treated badly, years of hatred and fear even after she won the Tri-Wizard tournament, she was going to end all the bullying for good, and in a very legal way too.
Now she was seventeen and she was going to have revenge for all those years of bullying and at the staff table the professors knew she was up to something on this the fourth day of September 1997. It started when Harriet came down with goblins and a stack of papers. Harriet was wearing formal robes her long raven locks tied back and her scar, gone. She was no longer wearing glasses and one could see the two noble house crests on her robes. One was for Potter the other for Fleamont, yes her father came from two noble lines and Harriet was showing this off. The professors knew something was going to happen and those that bullied Harriet were about to pay dearly. There were a few families that were not concerned, the Weasleys looked determined as they had done everything they could to defend and protect her, Theodore Nott almost amused and Luna Lovegood nearly looked gleeful. Harriet followed the goblins forward to the front of the hall.
"Hello, you know me as Harriet Rose Lily Potter." Harriet said, "I am now seventeen years old and have taken over the head of two ancient families with the help of my exonerated godfather."
"Needs a flea bath." Severus Snape muttered.
"Now I was bullied for years mainly by a group of very unwise girls. Though most of the school left off during the tournament, these girls never did" Harriet said, "so now I am going to call in the debts that their families owe the Potter or Fleamont families, Miss Crest-Haven you can proceed."
"Fay Dunbar, your family debt is called in to be paid in full Mandy Brocklehurst, your family debt is called in to be paid in full to the Potter line, Lavender Brown, your family debt is the be paid in full to the Potter line, Lily Moon your family debt is to be paid in full to the Fleamont line." The goblin called Crest-Haven said getting gasps of shock, "to Millicent Blustrode, no debt but a token of thanks for being a friend despite the danger. To the Weasley family, all debts cleared to the Fleamont line. To Luna Lovegood, eternal friendship of the Potter and Fleamont lines, thank you for being a good friend."
"You can't do this!" Fay all but screamed.
"I believe she can, if you had not bullied her then you would not be here, your parents cannot even disown you to be rid of the debts, your whole family will pay." McGonagall said, "I warned you near the end of your first year to stop bullying and now you will pay the price."
"Yea but the Weasleys just played nice to get out of debt." Lily Moon said.
"It does not work that way." Draco said surprising everyone, "they have to had cared for Potter for it to work. Otherwise they would still owe."
"That is right." Millicent added, "Harriet is a dear, why you bullies could not see that is beyond me, enjoy being broke!"
"I quite agree." Severus said, "this is due, headmaster you have something to say?"
"Yes, yes I do, for too long bullying has gone on in Hogwarts. Miss Potter, fifty points to Gryffindor for your bravery. To Slytherin fifty points to standing up to a friend. To those charged today, be grateful I will allow you to finish your education, you are on academic probation and shall not be able to gain or loose points, participate in any activities that are not related to education, eating, sleeping or medical care in my school. This means no Hogsmeade for you, no more will bullying go on! I have tried to get you to stop but this seems to be the only way to get through to you that this will not stand! I am retiring as well, as it seems I can't even keep control of my own school."
"Sir it is not your fault." Harriet said, "you don't need to do that, you tried to help me."
"I feel it is my fault." Dumbledore replied sadly.
"I second Miss Potter in you staying." Severus said.
"I stand with her." Sprout added.
"There will be massive changes you can be sure of that." McGonagall said, "starting with more professors and two heads of houses, one for the boys and one for the girls. That it took me this long to stamp this bullying out because of one who was famous was wrong of me. It will be a long time before I can look myself in the mirror but I will do all I can to now end this."
"Bullies will no longer have a say in this school, you do not have to like someone, but by Merlin you will get along!" Flitwick said looking more angry than any had seen him.
"Here, here, I was a product of bullying, it's in part why I joined the dark lord V." Severus said, "perhaps if I had not been bullied that would not have happened. No more will this be allowed!"
Of course the girls could not see that what they had done was wrong at all. Such is how many who are bullies see things and these girls were no different. They plotted to take down Harriet but their plans were stopped by the minister (warned by Harriet of a plot against him) who found out his under secretary was plotting with them against the heiress of two ancient families. Cornelius Fudge was not the smartest minister but he saw it was best to side with Harriet than not. Which he did and helped have the girls and Umbridge tossed in Azkaban after fair trials with the best lawyers that could be found to represent them. He was fair after all and they did get just sentences. Life without possibility of parole, they would be dead within ten years.
A year passed and no one dared speak out against Harriet again, Voldemort came back but a well timed portkey and a shove from Harriet at the right time got rid of him. Sadly Harriet was too upset and scared to stay in England and so, with all her friends, which included the Weasley, Granger, Bones, Greengrass, Longbottom, Lovegood, Perks and Prewett families, she headed to America. Others followed and for twenty years any new muggleborn students never found their way to Hogwarts. Harriet had her revenge on a system that had failed her and lived well. She settled down, married a third son of the very American Stone family, had five children, two boys and three girls and lived a good life. For her she was able to live out her dream and destroyed her bullies in a very legal way and then went on to live a happy life forgetting all about them.
