In which the Dursleys are far too cruel to Harry and the Wizarding world is far darker than canon. Warrior take no prisoners Harry and bad ass Dumbledore.

Squirrel:

Harry Potter, or as he was known when he dared show his face in the magical world as the muggleborn Tony Gardner was truly grateful for his Animagmus form. When he had turned all those years ago to a common grey squirrel after escaping his not aunt and not uncle's house he had not expected that accidental magic to kick in. His not relations were extremely cruel and thought abusing a three year old was a perfectly normal thing to do. It wasn't, and Harry at that moment refused to accept them as any family of his or Privet Drive as his home. It took a week for death eaters to come calling and Harry escaped in the fight and transformed.

Now he had got away free and clear as had his cousin Dudley who had just enough brains to hide in the shed out back. This was where Dumbledore had found him after the death eaters had tortured the family nearly to death. Petunia had lived long enough to tell him what one death eater looked like and he saw enough in her mind as to how cruel she was to Harry. He had found Dudley and in his anger lashed out with words at the traumatized boy having seen into the tot's mind he was not thinking of a near baby when he did so.

"Your parent's deaths are on you boy." He said coldly, "if you had not lied and treated your cousin as kin your parents would be alive."

"I sorry, I sorry!" Dudley sobbed.

"Yes, a bit late for that now, but you do have magic." Dumbledore said scanning him with his wand, "you can make up for your lack."

Dumbledore had tried to be nice for years, after he had wiped out Grindelwald's forces after seeing what he did and locking up his former er friend (not out of kindness). He had settled down as the headmaster of Hogwarts when Dippet had died. He was a good head of house and did all he could to stamp out prejudice, but five boys and a spider of a head of house nearly ruined this next generation. Well, Severus had come back and after agreeing to spy and finally agreeing to take over from Slughorn was now bound to Hogwarts. Now he would be fully bound as Dumbledore was going to take out every death eater out there.

Severus helped him willingly, when he found out how Harry had been treated he agreed to help in the most painful ways possible. Dumbledore approved, Severus Snape used his own dark mark to create a potion that would take out every death eater out there. Dumbledore was impressed, but he did not want to loose Severus, he had become friends with the man and had taken him under his wing as his mentor. The student benefited from this as Severus took the time to teach and coach the students even with his dark humor.

"Are you aware you will die too?" Dumbledore asked.

"So? They will be dead, you have Lucy here now, you give it to him and it targets the mark, I took it willingly, I deserve to die." Severus replied.

"Did you torture or er harm women to gain it?"

"No, but I did kill one person, it was a mercy killing, he was suffering and I ended it." Severus replied.

"I will miss you if you die."

Yet Severus had not died, he came close but there is a thing about light potions as the one he used. It could judge others in away, as he was willing to die, it kept him from doing so even though it took his mark and left arm (he managed to get a fine magical replacement) the death eaters were dead. The ministry was on the warpath and wanted to find who did this but try as they might they would not find who had destroyed the death eaters. It was at this time they had found that Harry Potter was missing and so they set out to hunt him down.

This was why Harry found himself hunted and if not for his Animagmus form he would have been captured. The ministry wanted to turn him into their tool and did not see a little boy who needed a family and love. No, they saw something to control and bind. Harry learned of the magical world in a painful way, Dawlish captured him and instead of taking him in right away roughed him up with magic and told him what the ministry did to dangerous brats like him. Harry was seven and he managed to escape wounded he had ran away vowing never to get caught again.

Thus the war between Harry Potter and the magical ministry began. Harry managed to find an old warrior who had fought with Dumbledore who had been accused by the ministry of grievous crimes. His magic was taken from him and as everyone knows that was a death sentence. He had five years to live after and was thrown out like trash. He taught Harry everything he knew and Harry learned well the arts of war, then his mentor died. Harry made his first kill at nine when an Auror tried to use deadly force on him. Harry took the wand of Dawlish and found it a match. Harry was now wanted as a dark wizard and the hit wizards were now sent after him.

A nine year old boy who was suppose to be the hero of the magical world. Instead he was painted in the paper as evil and dark. That he was the next dark lord in training and a kiss on sight order was put in place. He was ten when that happened, at this time Peter Pettigrew was found and Sirius Black got his trail. Only to be found dead in his cell. It was ruled a suicide even though the cell was warded against things like that. The magical populous was running scared now, both Sirius and Harry were the heads of two ancient families, if they could be targeted like this what hope did others have? The muggleborn were the only ones who could fight back in any way.

When Harry was eleven Dumbledore found him, and he gave him a way to go to Hogwarts but not as himself. Tony Gardner an orphan muggleborn was born, a glamour earring and Harry now had brown hair and blue eyes, his scar had disappeared with the death of all the death eaters as had what was in it. He ended up in Slytherin as the sorting hat (with the blessing of the headmaster) decided to put people where they needed to go not where they wanted to. That was why Slytherin had Tony Gardner, Dean Thomas and Hermione Granger while Draco Malfoy went to Gryffindor and Crabbe and Goyle went to Hufflepuff. Severus Snape was a good but terrifying head of house, and there was more, Elphinstone Urquart had married Minerva McGonagall and had nearly died. However it was Severus Snape who saved his life from a poisonous bite.

He had moved into the castle and though not a teacher had become a co-head of Gryffindor and was well loved by the students. It was an arrangement that work so well that Flitwick's wife and Sprout's husband became co-heads of Hufflepuff and Ravenclaw respectively. Severus did not marry but Sinstra became his co-head and the houses were stronger and happier for this as the girls and boys had the attention they needed. At this time the ministry tried to take over Hogwarts but was rebuffed as the Hogsmeade valley was not British land but had home rule. This meant in theory Harry could have gone to Hogwarts as Harry Potter but both he and Dumbledore felt better that he did not. Dudley Dursley at the school was scandal enough in some people's eyes.

While Harry Potter was going to school in disguise the ministry was growing darker and more evil. They started to put restrictions on the muggleborn, however, instead of taking that, the muggleborn fought back. A manor house burned here or there of supporters of the new laws, or someone ended up beat up. After the first muggleborn death in public of a one Colin Creevy who was not armed and peaceful, the muggleborn attacked. They did not destroy any shops in Diagon Alley, they did not riot or even protest. Instead they took over the ministry, they had the numbers and so were able in a pitched battle take over the ministry.

They created a fair and balanced government, one that made sure that everyone entering the magical world knew the good traditions and customs of the world they were entering. That what had happened to Harry Potter and Sirius Black never happened again. For it was believed that Harry was dead, and that is how Harry wanted it. He still did not trust the government and would make those who had caused the death and suffering of those he loved pay. The death eaters might be gone but he still had revenge to get. His Animagmus form came in handy with this.

His first chance at revenge was going after Umbridge who had the completely illegal removal of magic of his first mentor. She had done other evil awful things and made it so that the name Umbridge no longer was honorable. Harry was going to send a message and that was why he did not torture her or anything like that. She died with a cut throat in her sleep. No sign of forced entry or anything and no sign of magic. Due to how Harry had been treated violence was the only way he knew how to deal with those who wronged him. The magical world was in an uproar at the death but he was never found out. He watched the Aurors as they found her body from a tree and their reactions.

This was how his life went for the next few years. Those who thought along the same lines of the death eaters die in the same manner and after a while when good people did not die, the panic died down. Harry was believed dead and Tony Gardner was able to live a free life. The only ones who knew who he was were Dumbledore and Luna Lovegood, who would not tell anyone and liked Harry as Tony. Severus Snape might know but he would never tell anyone. He liked that Harry could do what he could not after all. Luna did keep him from turning into the dark lord the papers accused him of.

If his relations had treated him with any decency or if the magical ministry had not hunted him like an animal things might have turned out differently. Yet they had not, so now he was as close to the monster as they thought him to be. Yet he did not cross the line and become the dark lord they feared. He did however get married to Luna and have five children, all of them could turn to squirrels and had though their parents learned their brand of justice.
