Sometimes, James feels like the king of the world.
Other days, he walks on thin ice, hairline cracks chasing his every step.
It's a fine line, wanting to be his funnyman self and striving to be a good student. He has feelings for Lily, of course, but sometimes he doubts if they're enough. Especially on days where it feels as though it's the whole world against him.
But, on those days, he's got Sirius. And James thinks back on their first meeting, wondering if you can meet your soulmate so simply like that, on the train to school, without knowing.
