"Mayumi," Lavender says from her perch on the couch, "I heard you invited a girl?"
"'Ep!"
"How'd you get her to agree?"
"I appeared before the 'damsel in distress' and gave her a rose."
A few of the girls, who doesn't seem to catch onto Mayumi's air quote tone, giggles. Harry shifts uncomfortably.
"You know, going with a girl doesn't sound all that bad." Lavender sighed, "Too bad I already have a date..."
"NO!" Ron cries out in alarm, "there are few enough decent girls in Hogwarts to begin with, if the rest of you self-digests, what are Harry and I supposed to do then?!"
Mayumi, ever helpful, laughs in the face of his misery, and quotes an explosive pomarian.

'Self-digesting' 内在消化 is a pretty Chinese joke I read somewhere before, referring to people who are homosexual. Usually used in danmei (Chinese BL) novels, comics, or fan work, and I've always found it quite funny. So I decided to plug it in here. What it means is pretty plain, basically just referring to the dating pool shrinking for the straights, but in like a funny way.
