The music starts with a close-up of Minah, dressed in school uniform, curled up on the ground under the willow tree of the grounds of Hope's Peak Academy, apparently asleep. However, this scene is blurry and hazy, the colours faded, while Minah herself is clear and bright. Slowly, she wakes up, and the song begins.

koujou no kemuri de tomarimasu no botan
shiranai tokoro ni oritatta totan
miruku to konkuriito de dekita neko ga
watashi no doku wo mite naite kureta
kaimonobukuro kara hamideta negi ni
poi sutesareta giniro no toreinaa ni
sukasuka de toroi noumiso wo
fuande mitashitemo hara heru yo

In the smoke of the factory, a stop button.
But as soon as I got down to the unknown place
a cat made of milk and concrete,
seeing my poison, cried out.
From a shopping bag a green onion is jutting out;
I notice a silver sweatshirt littered on the street
Even filling my empty and slow brain
with anxiety does nothing to relieve my hunger

Minah slowly stirs, rubbing her eyes and stretching, and then gradually sitting up. She appears disoriented, and so she does not immediately react, instead looking around her, dusting herself down, and simply appearing to try and get her bearings before she gets up and starts to walk across the grass. As she does so though, the blurry scene changes around her, morphing from a grassy courtyard to a classroom corridor.

fudandoori no dandori konashite konarete
kurikaeshite enjiru hodo
toozakaru mitai yudeagattenai
hada ni awa wo yogosu mitai
iro ga suenai aji mo yomenai
kodoku ga mabushi sugiteru hodo no DNA
daremo tatenai hodo no ikibae
I've grown used to the ripe goods, my arrangements are like always.
The more I repeat the actions
the more distant they seem to become.
It won't reach a rolling boil—
it seems to pollute the very bubbles resting on my skin.
I can't distinguish color, I can't tell tastes either.
DNA that makes solitude much too radiant—
it makes the glow of life too bright for anyone to stay standing.

Minah clearly notices the gradual change, and stops for a moment, looking around her wildly, before she shrugs and, with apprehension in her steps, starts to walk. The scene remains as a school corridor for a while before it starts to become the streets of Towa City. She keeps walking, looking around furtively, but the surroundings, despite having changed appearance, are still consistently blurry. At one point, Minah rubs her eyes, but nothing changes.

mada mayotte shimau kedo gaitou ga nai michi dakedo
todokanai kokyuu dake ariamaru
kono mama hansha shitemo
nanimo kawaryashinai koto mo
yogitte habikoru yo
I still get lost, and though there are no lights on this road
there's a surplus of breaths that don't reach me
Even if I live on reflex like this,
I pass by the fact that I can't change anything
and it runs rampant in my mind

Eventually though, the scene does change, taking Minah into a field, just as the sky around her darkens. It is still blurry, but it is clear that a number of flowers fill the field. As Minah curiously crouches down, they are easily identifiable as red spider lilies, purple hyacinths, zinnias, tea roses and some aloe plants. She touches the petals of a tea rose, and then looks up as a breeze brings in cherry blossom petals that swirl around her, around and around, in a storm.

When they fade away, Minah finds herself in a dark room, covered in flower petals from all the flowers found in the field. However, she barely seems to notice as she looks at the set-up of computers and screens, somewhat akin to the one that Mizuki and the others had set up with which to view the killing game. The scenes shown from them are all past events containing Minah, and all of them painful, negative ones. Minah sitting outside the police station; Minah overhearing Isamu and Principal Naegi; Minah running to try and save Manaka; Minah running through the forest with Shino, Kaneda and Kumori; Minah with her friends to stage their 'abduction'; Minah during one of the many panic room meetings; Minah pressing a pillow over Isamu's face.

ima wa kizutsuku koto mo negatteru
mita koto nai hikari wo nozomu nara

Now I'm hoping to be hurt
Because if I wish for a light that I've never seen—

Minah watches these scenes for a moment, at first utterly transfixed. But soon, her face creases and tears course down her cheeks. In what seems like a burst of emotion, she draws her arm back and prepares to punch the screen. But as she brings her arm forward and plunges it into the screen showing her killing Isamu, everything around her shatters, and before she can react, she is falling.

Even if I sacrifice my true feelings
to a pitfall that no one understands
Even if I fit myself into a box, I would just be abandoning
my self-esteem to the dimly-lit morning.
If I were to live according to script
by at times sometimes conforming
Then I'd just be nodding along without ever learning how to worry, or anything else
I would only start to break into pieces, with how I am now
If it were just with how I am now

Minah is now depicted falling through darkness, her hair somehow free from its ponytail and billowing around her head, while the petals lodge free from her and fall a little bit like rain around her. In the dark, different happy memories, whether with her three friends, the main cast or even from her distant childhood (usually showing her in the dojo with a dark haired boy-who must be the infrequently mentioned InSu- and other children), flash intermittently as she falls, falls, falls. Occasionally she tries to grab at a memory flash, but it disappears each time she tries. Gradually, the camera closes in on her face, at first anguished and then becoming resigned, before zooming back out, and changing the scene.

Now, Minah is ponytailed again, but wearing a white crop top and black leggings, and is lying on the floor of one of the 'classrooms' of the warehouse. But her neck is bruised and her eyes are fluttering. Just as they close for the last time, however, a tear escapes from each eye, and a small, tired smile appears on her face before the song ends and the screen goes black.

Translation from 'lyricstranslate'. I also took some inspiration from the MV of the original song for how this sequence goes.
