The SilverAsh family is not a powerful family amongst the powerful family nobles.
If compared, surely my family would be rock bottom in all terms such is our fate but our family contributed some achievements to the country as to why the SilverAsh family was a given a noble title.
The stares of envy of pure nobles from all directions. It was suffocating, I didn't knew how my father and mother endured the hardship. Hatred and jealously in the form of insults and assassination, each move trying to bring the family down. It as if the King was punishing us by giving us noble titles under the disguise of a worthy reward.
My parents left me at a young age, 10 years old I was when it all happened. It was regarded as an accident in the eyes of people. The King just nodded and accepted the fact that I don't have enough proof to blame on the other noble families.
The loving gazes of my parents... we lost it, Pramanix and Cliffheart were so young... they weren't supposed to grow up without parents.
That's where it started... my living hatred and the pivotal point in my life to devote everything in my power to quickly become a strong head of the SilverAsh family. I held the King in contempt along with the other trash.
I matured quickly, absorbed all knowledge of any kind whether it be combat or domestic affairs. I have sisters on my care, their the only family I have left but I left them to rise up as the head of the SilverAsh family.
I didn't paid attention to them, swallowed by rage and power.
I... didn't noticed their concerned stares... I was focusing on getting stronger so that my sisters won't become concubines of those trash.
Then, Pramanix, the second born was suddenly chosen as the next priestess. I didn't have political power then to object.
I heard the stories of each upcoming priestess. I know how it's tradition and painful to even endure. My little sister won't live through it.
It's like sending my sister to the graves and I am forced to see it. I tried... I even tried to kill the ones who took her but I was a child back then, against men twice as size clad in armor. She was taken... Cliffheart cried for days. The youngest didn't stop... crying.
That is where I broke... I am ashamed of myself. I... continued to learn and aimed to become such an unstoppable force that even the king should respect me.
Cliffheart, back then... I should've comforted her... She didn't have to go through to this alone.
I regretted it.
A few days later after the incident, she immersed herself in hiking. Sometimes, she will be gone a few days. Sometimes, a week. I didn't even noticed how much I changed and broke her.
Then, Pramanix became the true priestess after a few years. There was a parade, welcoming the birth of another holy priestess.
My position was strong enough now. I can save her from that seat. I confronted her and wanted to comfort her but she now has a higher position than me so I must follow the customs and I bowed to respect her.
I can't save her from that position. It is a sacred one that cannot be touched or else all you will be treated as a traitor. All the power that I gathered was still useless, it can't beat all the nobles and royal family's factions.
From that day on, my sister stop referring me as brother. It was painful... I... am sorry for not being strong enough. I should've worked... Harder.
[Enciodas' Room]
5:00 a.m.
I woke up. Freed myself from last night's nightmares and tears were flowing fluently out of my eyes. I feel lifeless... I achieved greatness in my position, head of my family and everything. I have everything... and the irony is that I don't feel that I have everything.
I steadied my breathing... making myself limp on my bed. It's a rare occurrence that I usually laze around like this.
"Courier... Where are my sisters?" I asked, the young servant appeared and told me the details.
The young kuranta decided to ignore his master's now wet eyes. I'm glad he's understanding.
"The priestess-sama is in doctor's library, she slept there and Cliffheart-sama is in her room. Her own room not the one outside"
"Thank you" I thanked him.
"Yes, of course Sire"
"Young Master! A letter has arrived!" Matterhorn came in like he was chased by Sarkaz mercs.
"From who?" I was quite intrigued when the Matterhorn looked quite distress. Usually, he would be more composed as he was calm, it was his nature.
Something bad happened.
"From the king..."
"What?!" I was shocked, jumped out of my bed and with a loud thud I hit the ground. Luckily, my servants are very understanding and kept their professional stance even though I look ridiculous.
I am glad that they are understanding that I have an off day today.
The current king's connection to my family didn't amount too much for him. I rarely went to the capital, surely my face wasn't supposed to be remembered.
The old king died of old age, I didn't even got my revenge on him.
Is it because of the loss of Pramanix, the priestess that he contacted me? I swiftly took the letter and read it. I refuse to yield my sister again, just once is enough, I won't let there be a second time, since we are not in Kjerag's lands. My eyes were moving at a speed comparable to lighting reading the letter.
Dumbfounded, I pinched the bridge of my nose.
"Does the king request something, Sire?" Courier was a little shaky when asking.
"No, there's something wrong here. The king's most trusted aide will come to Rhodes giving me something. It's vague, I don't know what something is" I replied.
"Do they wish to see the downfall of Rhodes by using me as a spy? Rhodes did become a huge deal recently in Terra..." I thought.
"The current king sure acts differently than his predecessor" The vanguard gave his opinion.
"Yes, I agree. He's more cunning and smart than his father" I spoke.
I took note of the date of when that aide will come. It took me a while, rubbed my eyes to see clearly.
There's something wrong here.
"When did letter this arrive, Matterhorn?" I asked.
"Yesterday" He replied, he and Courier locked eyes.
"Get dressed, now... He's coming today" I ordered.
"Yes, of course" the two said in unison.
The had their own rooms, but due to my tantrum and incident yesterday they insisted to stay in mine to watch over me at anytime.
"Brother? What's going on?" A familiar face came into view not long after the two went out.
"Cliffheart... little sister... It's difficult to tell you, just stay in your room and lookout for our sister- no Pramanix for me, okay?" I held her shoulders softly before patting her head and went to prepare myself.
"Just be safe, brother. I hope it'll be fine" My little sister put her arms around me giving me a light hug. My sister looked like she wanted to talk but she didn't let herself
I am so sorry that I didn't become your pillar of support, back when you needed me.
"Thank you, Cliffheart. Thank you"
"Hmmm... Nice. Do tell, what more do you do?" A blonde wolf questioned regarding the various mechanics of this so called Lancet-2.
"I am not a toy... I am a medical robot" Lancet-2 is pretty mad, her voice showing how much she irked this guy.
As the duo exchanged conversations and bringing up topics about the working of said Lancet-2, another duo was sweating and swearing inwardly.
"Matterhorn, I am sure that SilverAsh-sama said that his aide will come, not him personally" Courier whispered.
"I don't know... I think Lord SilverAsh will be very displeased" the defender replied.
"Are your sure this won't lead to war... he's stepping on foreign ground guarded by just a guy wearing light armor" The kuranta said, eyeing the king's bodyguard.
This was one of the reception rooms in Rhodes since a lot of people come to Rhodes for reasons unknown or known. There should exist a place quiet enough for discussions to take place.
"Who sent Lancet here?" Matterhorn questioned the kuranta.
"I don't know. She was here from the beginning" Courier was frustrated, it doesn't pose much of a question as to why the king himself is here.
Someone who could cut their heads off using his authority was insulted by their lack of etiquettes.
"Lord SilverAsh, please come quickly" both servants of head of Silver Ash family prayed in their hearts.
"Hmm... Where is SilverAsh?" The yellow wolf raised an eyebrow towards the two gentlemen.
"Uhm... He may be running a little late" Courier responded weakly, his smile weary. You can practically see him screaming internally.
The door opened revealing the said person in question. The young feline entered dignified, an aura of elegance and professionalism but that all broke when he met the one sitting on the sofa.
SilverAsh kneeled instantly beckoning for his aides to do the same.
"I am very sorry that we couldn't give a warm welcome. Please have mercy on my servants, it is my fault they haven't been on their best lately"
"You may raise. I don't want to make any fuss about etiquettes since we are not in Karlan even!" Kyle rolled his eyes before throwing a piece of paper rolled perfectly into the hands of the gray colored feline.
"I am here to give you that. Before you start doubting me, it is official there's a royal stamp and everything. Now, for the doctor, I will ask you-"
"I decline, your majesty" a straight up answer from SilverAsh.
"I didn't even finish. Whatever... Help him, SilverAsh. I am counting on you, he has great capabilities even so, he doesn't show much weakness" A tap on the young feline's shoulder, Kyle walked out the room along with his single guard.
"What is your aim?" SilverAsh asked. It may sound impudent, the bodyguard already unsheathing his blade before his master stopped him.
"Rhodes is a valuable ally, that is all. Toodles" was all he said before making himself scarce.
"Huh..." a long sigh of relief let out by Matterhorn and Courier, their legs giving out.
Their master was still standing but of course, his nerves have become such a wreck.
"What did he give you sire?" Courier asked.
"Impossible..."
"Sire?" The kuranta was beginning to worry for his master.
"We're free..." was all SilverAsh said before leaving the parchment of paper to his servants and exiting the room running across the hallway like a kid.
He wanted to find his sister.
"Huh?" that earned quite a confusion for the kuranta and Matterhorn.
I can't believe it. Everything is over... Pramanix! Anya! Sister! It's over!
I screamed in my mind before unconsciously breaking through the doctor's office door in which nobody stopped me. I opened the door to the strategist's personal library harshly before spotting Pramanix...
"Enciodas! What are you doing?!"
I instantly jumped on her... hugged her... muttering it's over...
Pramanix flinched a little... but did not pushed me away.
"Okay... Let's hear what you have to say, losing your cool is not the usual Enciodas..." Somehow Pramanix seems a little bit more gentle on meeting me.
I breathed, in and out slowly. I didn't know that I was gasping for air or the fact that I feel a little exhausted. I just felt relieved...
"You don't have to become the Priestess anymore" I said, seeing Pramanix into the eyes.
"So, Karlan doesn't want it's Priestess back anymore?"
"No... You're free..." I said that but our relationship as siblings may as well be non existent.
I thought of it... After solving this problem, would Pramanix forgive me and if not, what shall I do?
Those questions were always hovering in my mind. Even if she doesn't like me as her brother, I will still be responsible and give her care as a brother should. At least I could atone to my sin that way.
"Brother..." The former priestess said.
I was a little shocked at what Pram- no, my sister said. The word brother was heard for the first from her after a long time. It made break.
"I am sorry, I was weak. I am sorry, I was useless. I am sorry for leaving you alone. I am sorry for... everything. I am sorry" my tears fell to the ground, it looks like I am confessing my sins to the priestess.
"Brother!" The female feline squished his face and forced him to look at her.
"I am sorry as well. I shouldn't have lashed at you and took a grudge. You did everything on your own didn't you so did I. It was immature of me for not thinking that you are also hurting. Sorry, brother"
I brought Pramanix close to me and hugged her tightly.
"Don't be sorry. I am the oldest, I must be able to shoulder my own family"
That parchment of paper brought by that damned king was unexpected but it was very much welcomed. Although, I hated the royal family... I felt thankful for this generation's king.
I was on the ground my head on Pramanix's lap, the events of this day took its toll... I dozed into a peaceful sleep after many nightmares.
My sister is safe, my sister came back. I am glad that we can be a family again.
"Sister? Are you here? Doctor said you're here" A white furred feline came into the doctor's library.
"Shh..." the priestess held a finger to her mouth.
"Oh..."
Cliffheart laid her back against her older sister's side, she sat there quietly but in her heart joy blossomed.
Pramanix caressed her only brother's head... he seemed a lot more peaceful now rather than be his stoic self.
"Encia?"
"Hmm?"
"Do you think I am a good sister?"
"..." A long pause filled the library.
"I can't say that your good, to be honest... you might be a little bad at times but at least everything is over right? Do you hate me nee-san?" Cliff heart shrunk, hugging her legs not making any eye contact with her sister.
The former priestess didn't say anything, she hugged her little sister close to her.
The gesture was a simple one but it carries a meaning that can reach over the mountains of Karlan.
The three siblings slept there, the emotional impact may be too great for them. Nevertheless, they glad it happened, it may go a lot worse but they were happy it ended this way.
Author Note's: This is my take on SilverAsh's story... This is not canon... All the characters are not mine they belong to Hypergrph and Yostar.
