The bar they came to was pretty quiet for the time of night, meaning all the girls could take a seat at the counter, ordering their drinks in quick succession. Kami had stopped listening to Ella almost five minutes ago, her attention solely on her girlfriend, who had just ripped off the lid of a beer bottle with her bare teeth. Kami's mouth hung open as Maze spat the lid out onto the table, giving Kami a quick smirk.
"How…?" Kami trailed off, with wide eyes.
"I'll show you later" Maze winked, making Kami giggle, beginning to feel tipsy.
"Hey, guys. Do you recognise these women?" Chloe's voice echoed from the other end of the bar, where she was questioning two drunks about her latest case.
"Chlo! Enough, come have a drink!" Kami called out to her, as her sister rolled her eyes but came over nonetheless.
"The bartender said something was going on across the street in the abandoned building. I put a call in for a warrant to the judge, and I'm waiting to hear back" Chloe informed her, as Kami pulled out the stool next to her.
"Great. Looks like you have some time to kill. Drink" Kami insisted, as Chloe shook her head quickly.
"No. I'm gonna call it a night—" Chloe began, but was cut off by a familiar voice.
"Hello, ladies" Linda greeted, making Chloe frown.
"Hi. What are you doing here?" Chloe inquired, confused.
"Kami invited me. She said it's girls' night" Linda replied, as Chloe twisted around to give Kami an unimpressed look.
"No. I'm working a double homicide" Chloe muttered.
"Would it kill you to just relax for once? All you do is work, work, work" Maze mocked, taking a sip of her beer.
"Wow. Like you're one to talk. You're at Lucifer's beck and call 24/7. It's like you're his personal concierge" Chloe retorted.
"I'm not his personal anything, anymore" Maze all but growled out.
"Hmm. Well, you basically still live there, and it's not like he's pouring you any drinks" Chloe pointed out.
"Alright! Enough arguing. We're here to have a good time, not bite each other's heads off. Let's do some…female bonding" Kami suggested, as Maze quirked an eyebrow.
"What the fuck is that?" Maze murmured, not liking the sound of it.
"Really getting to know each other. Sharing problems, origin stories, secrets…Look, I'll start. Um...I worked my way through med school as a phone sex operator. 1-800-ProfessorFeelGood" Linda confessed, putting on a sexy voice at the end.
"I would totally call that" Ella replied, mouth wide open.
"Why did I never think of that when I was going through nursing school?" Kami chuckled.
"I'm Ella, by the way. I love that we just skipped the small talk…Um, okay. I'll go next, I guess…I used to steal cars" Ella admitted, earning an impressed nod from Maze.
"Who's next?" Linda exclaimed.
"I was forged in the bowels of Hell to torture the guilty for all of eternity" Maze announced, as all the women shared a look.
"…Interesting share" Linda stated, not sure what else to say.
"Kami, you're up" Ella told her, as the girl mulled over what to say for a moment.
"My dad hung himself when I was a kid" Kami informed them, only then realising how drunk she had become, as all the women went quiet.
Kami bit her lip, cursing herself under her breath, wondering why she had brought it up. She could see the pity on Ella's face, instantly regretting announcing the secret in such a way.
"Oh my God, I'm…I'm so sorry, Kami. I don't know what to say" Ella mumbled, a little taken aback.
"You never told me that" Maze frowned, earning a small shrug in response.
"It doesn't really come up much in conversation" Kami pointed out, as Chloe placed her hand on her sister's shoulder.
"Have you been thinking about it a lot lately? With all the…deaths going on?" Chloe guessed, as Kami nodded slowly.
"People just have a tendency of dying around me. That's my big secret" Kami scoffed, taking a sip of her beer quickly, feeling her bottom lip trembling slightly.
"It's a good thing I can't die then" Maze stated.
A second later Kami was bursting out laughing, shaking her head fondly at Maze's words. The others soon joined in with the laughter, feeling the tension leaving the air just a little.
"Now, you go, Chloe. Come on, Sis. What's on your mind?" Kami insisted.
"Um...a little divorce. Uh...single parenthood...possible homelessness and…most likely many, many cats in my future" Chloe explained, as Maze suddenly slammed her hand down on the counter.
"Wait…you need a housemate, right? And I need a house…" Maze trailed off, as Kami stilled for a second.
"Oh, that's not really—" Chloe began, but Maze cut her off immediately.
"I should move in with you guys!" Maze announced, as both Decker siblings shared a concerned look.
"Maze, we've barely started dating. Don't you think moving in together is going a little fast?" Kami pointed out, as Maze shrugged.
"But that's what couples do right? They start dating, meet the family, start living together…" Maze trailed off, seeing the look Kami was giving her.
"Not in the span of a week" Kami exclaimed, in a slightly panicked voice.
"No, you know what? This could work. I mean, Trixie already loves you, Maze and we do need someone to share expenses with" Chloe added, as Maze nodded excitedly.
"It would mean I could really step away from Lucifer. Become my own woman" Maze went on, as Kami let out a small sigh.
"…Why not? I mean, what's the worst that could happen, right?" Kami mumbled, as Maze's grin grew wider, as she pulled Kami in for a quick kiss.
"What's with you?" Chloe inquired, two days later as they drove through the streets of L.A.
"Nothing" Kami murmured, staring out of the window.
"I haven't had a car ride with you being this quiet since you were thirteen. C'mon, what's wrong?" Chloe exclaimed, as Kami ran a hand through her hair.
"It's just…I really like Maze, I do. But living with her? I mean, I don't even know her last name. Her parents, where she grew up…I mean what if she snores, Chlo?!" Kami panicked, as the blonde began giggling.
"Wow, you're really spiralling, huh?" Chloe mocked.
"I don't want to ruin what we have before it's even started" Kami explained, as Chloe's eyes flickered over to her sister's.
"Then you should talk to her. Say it's all moving too fast" Chloe pointed out.
"Maze has already packed up all her stuff. She's told Lucifer she's moving out, I can't just leave her homeless" Kami went on, biting her lip.
"Hey, I'm sorry. If I knew you were freaking out so much, I wouldn't have already put a deposit down on a new place" Chloe told her, as Kami shook her head.
"No. No, look it's my problem. You and Trix need someone to live, that's what's important. Maze and I will work things out. Besides, I can't say I'll hate sharing a bed with her. You know she can do this thing where—" Kami began, but Chloe was quick to cut her off.
"Nope. End of conversation" Chloe spoke up, putting her hand in the air.
"I hope the walls are soundproof, that's all I'm saying" Kami grinned, mischievously.
"Oh god, I think I just vomited in my mouth" Chloe gagged, making Kami laugh.
She looked down as her phone bleeped, and a photo notification popped up on the screen. She laughed a little harder when she saw it was Lucifer sending yet another picture of his night out. Lucifer was clutching onto Tony the Janitor's shoulders as the man of almost sixty gave him a piggyback ride, while Hyun was placing a sloppy kiss on Dan's cheek, who looked as if he was about to pass out.
A strange sound caught her attention a moment later, a fluttering sound, almost like the wings of a bird. Kami looked out of the front windshield, looking for whatever bird had made the sound, but the sky above them was empty. She didn't see the car hurtling towards them until it was too late, a strangled gasp leaving her lips just as an SUV collided with them, sending them spinning around the road. Despite wearing the seatbelt, Kami's head still collided with the side window, cracking the glass as the debris were sent flying around the vehicle. They came to a sudden halt a second later, as Kami blacked out momentarily. When she came to, she could feel something wet dripping down her face, causing her eyes to flutter open. She reached up to touch her cheek, grimacing when she pulled her hand back to see red was coating her fingertips. With an unfocused gaze, she looked up to see a strange man was staring back at her, standing motionless on the kerb. He was wearing a large trench coat, his hair grey at the roots, and large eyes seemed darker than they should have. He tilted his head for a moment, as time almost seemed to stop around her. Suddenly, Kami felt Chloe shaking her arm, all but screaming her name. A woman, who Kami thought might have been driving the SUV ripped open the broken side door, gripping her shoulder as she hauled Kami out of the smoking vehicle. Kami frowned when she looked back at where the strange man had been standing only seconds before, to find nothing there. Had she imagined it?
"Weren't you in another accident just a couple of weeks ago?" The paramedic, who had been busy bandaging a nasty laceration on her arm, inquired.
"Guess I'm just unlucky" Kami shrugged, hearing a familiar voice from a few metres away.
She leaned forward to see Lucifer arguing with a police officer just behind the police tape, clearly desperate to be allowed onto the scene. Chloe had also spotted the older man and waved him in, an onslaught of questions quickly being brought down on her. As soon as Lucifer could see Chloe was mostly unharmed, he was rushing towards Kami, a rare look on his eyes. Panic.
"Are you alright?" Lucifer questioned, kneeling in front of her, where she was sitting in the back of the ambulance.
"I will be" Kami nodded, as Lucifer let out a sigh.
He reached out to cup her cheek, which had been covered by a large piece of gauze, numerous cuts now covering the skin underneath. She had more cuts and bruises covering her body than she could count, but she was relatively unharmed. No broken bones, nothing punctured…she was lucky to be alive.
"How'd you get here so quick?" Kami asked, as Lucifer slowly pulled his hand away.
"I may have broken a few speed limits" Lucifer admitted, as Kami gave him a small smile.
"I thought I was going to die…again" Kami confessed, quietly.
"I would never let that happen" Lucifer told her, leaning forward to rest his forehead against hers for a moment.
"I'm glad you came" Kami mumbled, reaching out to clutch onto his suit jacket.
"It was the least I could do…" Lucifer trailed off, pulling away as he came to sit beside her, a guilty expression on his face.
"What's wrong?" Kami asked, as Lucifer let out a long sigh.
"There's a small chance that this, your car accident, could be the result of my father trying to send a message to me" Lucifer explained.
"Lucifer, it was a freak accident, okay? A dog ran into the road. It had nothing to do with you" Kami insisted, but she could tell he wasn't convinced.
"You're certain you didn't see anything strange or out of the ordinary?" Lucifer queried, as Kami's mind instantly went to the strange man she had seen.
"There was…I mean I thought…I don't know. It's nothing" Kami stuttered, shaking her head a little.
"What is it?" Lucifer pushed.
"I thought I saw a man watching the accident" Kami confessed, as Lucifer's eyes went wide.
"What did he look like?" Lucifer questioned.
"Normal, I guess. Average build, about fifty, was wearing this ugly ass trench coat. But he just…stared at me. I don't know, maybe I was imagining it" Kami shrugged, seeing how Lucifer had stilled.
"I hope you were" Lucifer muttered, appearing even more panicked.
"Why do you think your father would be trying to send you a message anyway?" Kami couldn't help but ask.
"When you were shot, I prayed to him. I asked him to bring you back. I'm worried that he's planning to take back what he gave me" Lucifer confessed, as Kami reached out to touch his arm.
"If God really did bring me back, then it's for a reason, Lucifer. He probably has a plan bigger than the both of us" Kami suggested.
"Do you really believe then? In God, I mean?" Lucifer frowned, as Kami mulled over it for a second.
"…I should have died almost half a dozen times this year, and for some reason, I keep surviving. If that's not proof of God…well, what is?" Kami stated, as a small smile grew on Lucifer's lips.
Maybe all of this really was part of his Father's plan. Maybe the reason why Kami was still breathing was more complex than just his desire to keep her alive. Perhaps she had her own destiny to live up to.
Just as Kami was reaching down to pick up a box full of her clothes, Maze beat her to it, hauling the box up with one hand, making it look effortless. Kami gave the older woman an unimpressed look, following her into their new bedroom. It was a decent size room, with their king-size bed in the middle, leaving little room for any furniture other than a wardrobe that would have to house both of their clothes. And whatever else Maze counted as her 'toys'.
"I can still carry a box, Maze. I'm not an invalid" Kami pouted, as she came to sit on the bed.
"You're human. That's close enough" Maze insisted, making Kami huff out a laugh.
"I was thinking about going to the station later to see Chlo. I know she's got a new case and seeing as I can't go to work like this—" Kami began, but Maze instantly cut her off.
"No" Maze stated, firmly.
"No?" Kami repeated, crossing her arms.
"Chloe's job is dangerous. Cops get shot at everyday" Maze pointed out.
"Well, that's a bit of a reach. Besides, it's not like I can just stay cooped up in here for the rest of my days and avoid the outside world" Kami explained.
"Why not?" Maze shrugged, opening the box of clothes with her nails.
"Because that's life, Maze. There's danger around us all the time. We just have to get on with it" Kami reasoned, as Maze mulled over her words.
"…Or Lucifer could make you invulnerable" Maze suggested, as Kami gave her a confused look.
"What?" She frowned.
"You could become like me. A demon. You wouldn't be in danger anymore. You would live forever…with me" Maze told her, with a hopeful look in her eyes.
"I don't want to live forever. Why would I want that?" Kami retorted, as Maze flinched back as if she'd been struck.
"But that means one day…you'll die. And I'll…I'll be alone again" Maze realised, looking horrified.
"Maze, you can't think like that. Besides, I'm still young. I've probably got at least another sixty years in me" Kami scoffed, but her words didn't seem to reassure the older woman at all.
"Sixty years? That's…that's not enough. What am I supposed to do when you're gone?" Maze exclaimed, confusing Kami further.
"How long are you planning to live for exactly?" Kami mocked.
"At least a few more thousand years" Maze stated, no hint of a joke in her voice.
"You are so weird sometimes" Kami chuckled, shaking her head a little, as she scooted closer to have a look at what clothes were in the box.
Maze had all but forgotten what she had been doing, feeling panic coursing through her veins. If Kami died, she would go the heaven, somewhere that Maze could never follow. She was going to lose her. What did it matter if it was tomorrow or in sixty years? Eventually, Maze would have no one again. She couldn't let that happen.
Lucifer hadn't been sure at first if he was simply seeing things at the latest crime scene. He had been sure he had witnessed the flash of a trench coat throughout the day, the feeling of someone watching him…but now he was sure. He could sense his brother. He made his way onto the rooftop of an abandoned building and heard footsteps following soon behind him. He tilted his head when he saw it was none other than Uriel, wondering what had brought his sibling down to Earth.
"Hello, brother" Uriel greeted, his coat flapping in the wind, a smug smile on his face.
"Welcome to Earth. Clearly, I got the fashion sense in the family. Word of advice: I'd lose the trench coat, 'cause as it stands, it's less cool, brooding angel, more sort of paedophile chic" Lucifer replied, grimacing at his brother's clothes.
"One joke down. One to go. Why can't you take anything seriously, Lucifer?" Uriel complained.
"What do they say? Laugh like no one's listening? Dance like you're standing on the corpses of your enemies?" Lucifer went on.
"And there's the other. Predictable as ever" Uriel sighed, clasping his hands together.
"What do you want, Uriel?" Lucifer inquired, taking a few steps forward.
"I came to you tell you that you have 24 hours" Uriel announced.
"I'll bite. 24 hours or what?" Lucifer asked, tilting his head to the side.
"To say goodbye to that girl. Before I finish what I started" Uriel informed him, watching with glee as Lucifer's face fell.
"The car accident…" Lucifer trailed off, in a small voice.
"I had hoped it would kill her. I suppose she's a little harder to kill. Like a cockroach" Uriel mumbled, as Lucifer all but snarled at him.
"You will not lay a finger on her" He warned, his eyes flashing bright red for a second, almost losing control.
"I take no joy in this brother—" Uriel began, when Lucifer suddenly grabbed him by the lapels of his coat.
"I made the deal to bring Kami back to life. I am the one who has refused to bring our mother back to Hell. Your quarrel is with me, Uriel" Lucifer growled, hands gripping roughly onto the fabric of his coat.
"Oh, Lucifer. You still think that's what this is about?" Uriel laughed, making Lucifer frown and release the other Angel.
"What are you talking about?" Lucifer inquired.
"Father did not bring that girl back" Uriel confessed, watching his brother's eyes widen.
"What? Then who did?" Lucifer insisted.
"That's the problem, dear brother. We don't know. And that's why the girl needs to die. She's dangerous" Uriel explained, as Lucifer shook his head, vehemently.
"No. She's my…my friend. I won't let you hurt her, Uriel" Lucifer told him, making the other angel all but snigger.
"You've grown soft, Lucifer. Or perhaps that thing simply has you under her spell" Uriel stated, raising an eyebrow.
"Brother, please. We can find another way" Lucifer exclaimed, a slightly pleading tone to his voice.
"There is no other way. You have twenty-four hours. Say your goodbyes" Uriel announced, before turning on his heel and walking away, leaving Lucifer shaking with rage.
Lucifer was pacing around his penthouse a few hours later, Maze and Amenadiel on either side of him, appearing just as worried. They all knew Uriel wasn't bluffing. Kami was in more danger than she had ever been before.
"Uriel won't be reasoned with?" Amenadiel asked, trying to figure out a solution.
"Well, I can think of one way. We give him that classy bitch you call 'Mom'. That ought to be enough to keep him satisfied for a while" Maze suggested, making Lucifer shake his head, ruefully.
"Uriel can come after celestial beings like us, yes, but angels aren't allowed to kill humans. Kami should be safe" Amenadiel pointed out.
"Yes, but remember, dear brother, that Uriel can play with patterns. He makes a butterfly flap its wings and a housewife gets chlamydia" Lucifer explained, as Amenadiel ran a hand over his head.
"Or Kami gets into a seemingly accidental car wreck" Amenadiel nodded.
"Too bad there isn't an easy way to make this all go away. Oh, wait, there is. Send your mom back to Hell" Maze insisted, pushing herself up from where she had been lounging on the leather couch.
"Uriel was very clear. He's here for Kami. Everything else seems to have taken a back seat. But worry not my little sex thug, because Uriel won't be a problem. We have a nuclear weapon" Lucifer announced.
"What's that?" Amenadiel frowned.
"You. Well, Uriel doesn't know that we're working together on this. We all know he won't listen to me. But he will if it's someone from the home team. So, you will go and convince him that he needs to go back. Or, you know, just punch him in his smug face. Dealer's choice. Gosh, it's nice having a super powerful angel on your side, isn't it?" Lucifer grinned, patting his brother on the shoulder, thinking he had everything sorted out.
"…What if Uriel is right?" Amenadiel questioned, as Lucifer came to a halt, twisting around to face him.
"I beg your pardon?" Lucifer replied.
"If Father really didn't bring Kami back, then that means something powerful…something that shouldn't even exist did. Perhaps we should try to find out why before we attempt to stop Uriel?" Amenadiel went on, as Maze gave him an icy glare.
"Are you suggesting we let my girlfriend die?" Maze growled.
"Perhaps Uriel knows something we don't" Amenadiel insisted, watching Lucifer's jaw clench.
"Either you are with us, or against us, brother. Which is it?" Lucifer insisted, watching Amenadiel sigh.
"…I will do what I can to stop Uriel" Amenadiel mumbled, a few moments later.
"See that you do" Lucifer exclaimed, feeling panic clawing away at him once again.
"If you ask me one more time whether I'm okay, I'm gonna punch you in the face" Kami announced as soon as she had entered Lucifer's car.
He had picked her up from Chloe's house, stating that he was planning to not let her out of his sight of the foreseeable future. Knowing better than to argue with him, Kami opted to go along with whatever ridiculous trail of thought Lucifer was having.
"Tough day?" Lucifer guessed, as Kami slumped into the passenger seat.
"I think Maze is planning on wrapping me in bubble wrap" Kami exclaimed.
"I can think of better outfits to put you in" Lucifer grinned, flirtatiously.
"Ha. I'm serious, she's been smothering me all day. She barely let me come out to see you" Kami muttered.
"Ah, moving in together becoming the disaster I knew it would be?" Lucifer guessed, as she glared at him.
"No! No, we just…need a short adjustment period, that's all. Now, spill. What's with the impromptu road trip?" Kami asked, as Lucifer let out a sigh.
"I was right. There are cosmic forces working against you…wanting to harm you" Lucifer told her, as she gave him an unimpressed look.
"Luce, I told you. It was a random car crash. There was no rhyme or reason to it" Kami insisted.
"…You don't have any friends in high places do you?" Lucifer couldn't help but ask a few seconds later.
"What, like rich people?" Kami frowned.
"I was thinking a little higher than that" Lucifer stated, making her laugh.
"Oh, like a Guardian Angel?" Kami giggled.
"I'm being serious. This is a life and death situation, Kami" Lucifer pressed, as her eyes softened a little.
"You're really worried about me, huh?" She smiled.
"Well…it seems you may have gotten under my skin" Lucifer admitted, making her smile widen.
"Hey, I'm not going anywhere, okay? I promise. Now, tell me about this new case of yours and Chloe's. It's something to do with the Bodybag movies right?" Kami inquired.
"You've watched them?" Lucifer replied.
"Hell yes. Dan and I went to watch Bodybags 5 back when I was a teenager. Oh my God, he was more excited than I was, it was hilarious" Kami laughed, at the fond memory.
"Well, then I suppose you remember Wesley Cabot? The star of the movies? He's copped it. Murdered. And now our prime suspect is Kimo Van Zandt—" Lucifer started, but Kami cut him off immediately.
"The Weaponizer?! Oh my God, I love those movies! Do we really think he did it?" Kami pouted, disappointed that he could be a murderer in real life.
"He lied to his wife, Jamie Lee Adrienne. Told her he was at ActionCon in Reno" Lucifer stated, making Kami frown.
"ActionCon? But that happened weeks ago" Kami frowned, as Lucifer clicked his fingers.
"Exactly" Lucifer nodded.
"Wait, I thought Jamie was married to Wesley Cabot?" Kami asked.
"Oh, that was years ago. Keep up" Lucifer dismissed, quickly.
"No, my point is, if you're married to two action stars…how do you not know when something like ActionCon is on?" Kami pointed out, as Lucifer's eyes widened.
"Oh, you are good" He grinned, suddenly pulling out of the parking space they were in.
"Jamie's involved in the murder" Chloe and Lucifer both said at the same time as they met at the car park of the hotel where their suspect had been spotted.
"Why did you bring Kami here?" Chloe frowned, quickly spotting her sister exiting Lucifer's car.
"I was the one who figured it out" Kami said, smugly.
"C'mon, we need to find her before she can get away" Chloe insisted, ushering Lucifer forward.
"I'll see if she's been caught on the security cams" Kami announced, rushing over to the front desk of the hotel.
Lucifer was about rush after her, when his phone began to bleep, and he saw it was Maze calling. He quickly picked up the call, expecting to hear all about how Amenadiel had sent their brother packing.
"So, I expect Urinal is back in heaven with his tail between his legs?" Lucifer grinned, holding the phone to his ear.
"Not quite. Amenadiel's hurt. Badly. This would never have happened if you'd listened to me earlier" Maze replied, unable to keep the disdain out of her voice.
"How is this possible?" Lucifer questioned, confused.
"I no longer have my powers" Amenadiel's voice came from the phone, likely on loudspeaker.
"Well, what happened to them?" Lucifer pushed.
"Oh, I don't know, Luci, pick a sin. Is it because I released a damned soul from Hell? Slept with a demon? Is it because I'm working with you? Or because of Mom? Or am I simply no longer worthy? It's time that I faced the truth, brother. I've fallen" Amenadiel sniffed, sounding close to tears.
"Well. Welcome to the club. Meetings are on Tuesdays" Lucifer scoffed.
"It's different for me, Luci. It's different. I no longer have my powers. My very strength…" Amenadiel trailed off, in a pained tone.
"Big deal! It's probably the best thing that ever happened to you. But right now I haven't got time to hold your hand, because I need to clear up your mess!" Lucifer exclaimed, angrily.
"My mess?" Amenadiel asked.
"Uriel's still out there. And the clock is up..." Lucifer trailed off, his head snapping up to find Kami was no longer at the front desk, causing him to instantly hang up the call.
"Kami!" He called out, in a panic.
Screaming filled the corridors of the hotel, as customers ran for their lives from the courtyard, which was exactly where Kami was headed. Her heart stopped for a moment when she saw her sister standing in front of Jamie and another man, her arms held out in front of her, as Kimo came into the light, holding a shotgun. Past Kimo's shoulder, Kami's eyes connected with a familiar set, feeling a shiver go down her spine. It was the man from the accident. Had he followed her there?
"Kimo!" Kami exclaimed, before she could stop herself.
The man instantly whipped around, turning the gun towards her, his hands shaking as he gripped the handle. He was clearly as terrified as they were.
"You know, I was about three when the first Bodybags movie came out" Kami announced, watching Kimo's forehead wrinkle.
"What?" He frowned.
"I snuck out of my care home to see the fourth movie. I got grounded for a whole month, but it was worth it. Everyone was talking about you. The Weaponizer. I've seen all the movies. You're a hero to a lot of kids, you know. They grew up watching you" Kami went on.
"Not anymore" Kimo murmured, shakily.
"That's not true. You haven't done anything that you can't take back. This isn't you, mate. What good will it do killing anyone?" Kami insisted.
"Jamie killed Wesley! She…she's been using me, trying to frame me—" Kimo yelled, but Kami stopped him.
"So?! You do this, and you're no better than her. Your friend, Wesley, do you really think this is what he would want?" Kami went on, as Kimo slowly shook his head.
"I only turned twenty-two a few months ago, and I really want to make it to my next birthday. But that's up to you. So, what's it gonna be? Are you a villain…or a hero?" Kami exclaimed, taking a few steps forward until she was standing right in front of the shotgun.
"…I don't want to be the bad guy" Kimo cried, his hands shaking even more.
"Then drop the gun. Put it down!" Kami commanded, as Kimo's movements suddenly stilled.
A split second later he dropped the gun as if he had burnt him, stumbling backwards a step. He looked down at his hands as if he was confused why he had done what she had ordered. A few police officers had arrived at the scene moments before and were quick to grab him before he could try to get the weapon again. Kami's eyes flickered over to where the strange man was still standing only metres away but was surprised to find him gazing at Lucifer. The man raised an eyebrow at her friend, a surprising amount of recognition being shared by them. Kami's mouth went slack as a realisation slowly hit her. Lucifer knew the man.
Did he have something to do with the crash? With everything that had happened since then?
