Chapter 2

One week later

It has been one week since Naruto's graduation from the academy. Today is the day he would be placed on a team. Getting off his bed, he went through his usual routine in the morning before heading down for breakfast. Afterwards, he went to the academy where he went to the graduating classroom. He immediately spotted Izumi sitting in the back and made his way over to her. They exchanged greetings and awaited their team placements.

Soon, the sensei for the class entered and began to call out the teams after giving the generic speech of how they are now ninjas and bla bla bla. "Team 11 will be Naruto Uzumaki, Izumi Uchiha and Takeshi Hideyo. Your sensei will be Mikoto Uchiha." As these words left the mouth of the sensei, both Naruto and Izumi were shocked at the thought of having their mother/aunt as their jounin sensei.

They got out of their stupor, however, as the door opened and Mikoto entered dressed in her jounin attire, complete with a sword on her back. She looked around the room before stating, "team 11 follow me please" and left the room. The three members of team 11 immediately followed their new sensei out the door.

Mikoto took them to training ground 11 and said to them, "usually a secondary test is administered by the jounin sensei in order to test whether or not the graduates are qualified to be genin. However, I do not believe that you would need such a thing. Instead, we are going to spar so that I can gauge your current levels as well as what you need to work on." Saying that, the spar began.

Once the spars were over, Mikoto called her new team over and informed them of her observations as well as informing them of what she thinks they need to work on and learn. For takeshi, she recommended that he advances his taijutsu and learn some medical ninjutsu since his chakra control was the best of the group and he would make a good iryo nin. For izumi, she told her to master her sharingan and learn genjutsu as well as some ninjutsu for back up. For Naruto,she suggested that he take up kenjutsu and fuinjutsu as well as nnjutsu. She did inform her team that they should always keep training in their current skillset as well so that they would not be caught unaware in case of a precarious situation.

After telling them that, she treated them to a late lunch at a restaurant after which she dismissed them telling them to meet in front of the mission centre for their first mission in the morning. She then left to inform the hokage of her team's fate. The three newly minted genin then left and each went their separate ways.

Arriving home, Naruto was met with an excited kushina who immediately bombarded him with questions such as who was on his team and who his sensei was. She was initially shocked to hear that Mikoto was their sensei. Her blood boiled as she swore to take a team next time to show her rival who the better sensei was. Naruto then asked for her help in kenjutsu and fuinjutsu as kushina was feared for her use of both kenjutsu and fuinjutsu. Of course she was no slouch in the other branches of ninja arts but preferred those in conjunction to taijutsu. She squealed with joy as she accepted.

Over the net two months, Naruto had to admit that they were the most boring time of his life as they were stuck doing various D-rank missions as the hokage did not wish to expose new genin to difficult missions as yet. The only consolation was the training he was getting from his sensei as well as kushina. Inside the mission room, we meet our favourite genin team who are ready to receive their first C-rank mission. "Well team 11 we have a c-rank mission for you today. You are to transport this scroll to the daimyo's office in the capital and receive a reply which will be brought back here," said the chunin at the desk. "Very well, team 11 accepts this mission," said Mikoto as she turned to her team and gave out her instructions.

Team 11 left the gates an hour later bound for the capital to fulfil their mission. Their trip there was uneventful, only a few bandits which wasn't anything they could not handle. They each made their first kills from this though and after some reassuring words from their sensei, they resumed their journey to the capital. They arrived to the daimyo's office where they completed their objective and collected the response from the daimyo himself. They bowed to him and left immediately to return to Konoha.

Halfway back to the village, they decided to make camp for the night and resume their journey the next morning. Morning came and the trip was resumed. On their way back, they were ambushed by twenty bandits and three missing nins of c-rank in the bingo books. The bandits were easily disposed of and soon they were engaging the missing nins in combat. While more difficult an opponent, the missing nins were also dealt with as Mikoto killed two and Naruto and Izumi killed the other. They collected the heads of the nins after checking their bodies for any equipment, which was shared amongst themselves, and made their way back to the village.

At the gates, Mikoto dismissed her team and left to file the report with the hokage. Upon arriving home, Naruto saw his mother prepping lunch. Turning around to see her son with bloodstained clothes worried kushina but Naruto assured her that he was fine and the blood was not his but some bandits and a c-rank missing nin. He left, going upstairs to use the bathroom and cleaned himself up before returning downstairs to have lunch with kushina who told him she was going to take some to minato and his team and asked if he wanted to accompany her.

Accepting her invitation, they made their way to team minato's training grounds where they saw Rin taking care of some injuries on Obito and Kakashi standing off to the side. Kushina called out to them and they all had lunch together after which Naruto returned home to get some sleep.

Timeskip 8 months later

It has been eight months since team 11 had their first C-rank mission and in that time, their team had gone on to complete one hundred and fifty d-ranks, fifteen c-ranks, three b-ranks and one a-rank which started out as a c-rank mission. We now see the team in their usual training grounds awaiting their sensei's arrival. After five minutes, Mikoto arrived and told them of their entry into this year's chunin exams. She gave them their entrance forms and explained what the exam was and where it was held and any relevant info they might need. The three genins immediately signed their forms an returned them to her. After collecting the forms, Mikoto gave them some new material to work on before the exam was over and assisted them as well as having their customary team training. After training was finished, they dispersed to their homes where they set out to learn as much of the new stuff as possible before the exams began.
