Chapter 8
Two years later
It has been two years since Naruto was promoted to jounin. Many things have occurred and changed over those two years. The first of which was that he and izumi had confessed feelings for each other and had begun a relationship much to the ire of fugaku uchiha but to the joys of Mikoto and kushina. Another thig that happened was both Izumi and Naruto joining the ANBU as agents weasel and kitsune respectively. Over the years, Naruto had grown in skill and reputation that he was placed in the bingo books as the 'scarlet devil' an A-rank threat with an engage with caution warning. Another event that changed Naruto's life was the fact that his sensei and his mother were both pregnant, with Mikoto having already given birth to a son who was named sasuke while kushina was due in October.
Entering the ANBU compound, Naruto went directly to the commander to deliver his report on his most recent mission. Since becoming an anbu agent, he was teamed with izumi and under Kakashi hatake, minato's student on team Ro. However the last couple of months had him working either solo or on a team of two doing missions. He was well on his way to becoming a captain, same as izumi. What neither of them were aware of was the fact that that time would be approaching sooner than they expected. As Naruto left the anbu barracks, he received a message to be in the hokage's office. Exiting the building and making his way over to the hokage tower, Naruto was met with izumi who had just completed her mission and was on her way to report it. Deciding to go together, they knocked on the door and received permission to enter. Going inside, they were greeted by the smiling face of minato. Allowing izumi to go through her protocol in reporting her mission first, Naruto hung back and awaited his girlfriend to finish giving her report.
After concluding her report, minato looked upon the two youngest ANBU agents in the history of the village. Even though they were young, they were extremely skilled. His thoughts went to their entire genin team who were doing quite well with their other teammate being in charge of hospital operations. Looking over Naruto, he could only marvel at how the young boy they found had matured and flourished over the years. The same could be said of the uchiha heiress. Smiling at them, he began "you both have been doing many missions for the benefit of Konoha over the last six months without rest. As such, I have decided that you have earned a small vacation of sorts. So therefore, after consulting with ANBU commander dragon, you both would have the next two weeks off and would need to report to commander dragon at the end of the two weeks to get your new duties." Accepting this the two nin bowed to the hokage and left the office.
Getting outside, they agreed to meet up the next day to spend the day together as they have not been able to do so with their mission load. Departing for their homes, they each looked forward to the next day. Arriving home, Naruto was met by the sight of kushina on the couch reading a book. Looking up, she saw her child and smiled. Naruto informed her of his vacation time and that he was going to go and wash up before coming back.
Returning downstairs after cleaning up himself, Naruto and kushina spent the rest of the day just laying around and enjoying each other's company. When it was time for dinner, Naruto elected to make dinner as he had not enjoyed dinner with his family for quite some time. Thinking about family made him wonder how his biological family were doing. Since arriving onto the elemental nations all those years ago, Naruto had not yet told anyone of his true origins. He was considering telling kushina and izumi as he knew that he could trust those two with anything. He did not know however, when he should do so. As he sat down at the table with a thoughtful expression on his face, he was asked something by kushina.
"I'm sorry, could you repeat that" said Naruto
"I said you look like something's on your mind. Wanna talk about it?'' inquired kushina
Sighing to himself, he looked at kushina and said that it was nothing just thinking about family. Not quite buying his reason but nodding anyway, kushina told him that it was just going to be the two of them as minato had to work late. Not really fazed by it Naruto accepted with a smile and enjoyed the dinner with kushina. After dinner, while washing the dishes, Naruto asked kushina if she would like to spend some time with him the day after tomorrow. Smiling to herself, she accepted since she has missed her naru-chan with all the missions he has been doing as of late and wanted to find out what was bothering him. When Naruto was finished, he left for bed telling kushina that he is going to be out tomorrow with izumi if she needed anything to let him know.
The next morning, Naruto awoke had breakfast and a shower before leaving to meet izumi. They agreed to meet up at a sweet shop almost in the middle of their respective homes. As he got to the meeting point, he saw izumi already there and greeted her, asking if he was late. She responded that he wasn't as she had just arrived herself. They then went walking through the village gazing at all the different shops until it was time for lunch. At this time, izumi told Naruto that her mother wanted him to come for lunch today as it had been some time since she saw him. Nodding, as there really wasn't much else he could do, they left for the uchiha compound and izumi's home.
Entering the house, they were met by Mikoto who caught Naruto in a tight hug and asked him how he was and if he was treating her princess right and made a not so subtle threat of what would happen if he wasn't. Needless to say, both Naruto and izumi were embarrassed by Mikoto evidenced by the blush on their cheeks. They then had lunch and Naruto was introduced to sasuke. Afterwards, they left the compound where Naruto took izumi to the top of the hokage monument and sat with her on top of the yondaime's head. Unsealing some dango, the two teenagers had dango and enjoyed each other's company for the while, neither saying anything to each other just taking in the serene atmosphere. As they sat there, they observed the sun going down and gazed at the sunset before leaving the top of the monument.
After leaving, Naruto escorted izumi back home and left after receiving a peck on the cheek for the good time. Naruto then took to the rooftops and made his way home. He arrived home and went straight to bed after cleaning up and fell asleep with a smile on his face.
