When Kevin awoke, his body was extremely sore. His bruises more apparent against his pale skin and his hair a complete mess. The scalp was vulnerable and although it didn't burn anymore it was still tender from his hair being ripped off. He reached to trace some of the scars on his chest and realized just how cold his skin was. Having had enough of staring at his injuries he decided to turn his attention to his surroundings. He quickly noticed that next to his hat and glasses now were his shirt and sweater neatly folded in a pile. Right on top of them was a small note written in elegant handwriting that Kevin recognized oh so well.

It instructed him to leave immediately after he woke up. This left little Kevin feeling extremely uneasy, and wondered if he should follow the demand or stay to at least...thank him? As oddly as that sounded, and it was very, very odd, he would feel beyond uncomfortable just disappearing. However, knowing Eddward he would have his head if he found him still in the house just waiting around.

So, he decided to do the next best thing. He grabbed his now clean shirt and buttoned it up slowly, then his sweater and gingerly pulled it over his head warmly enveloping his small frame in the comfortable fabric. The boy winced at the action letting out small whimpers as he moved around. He reached for his hat and his glasses slipping them on. He frowned feeling a bit somber at the realization that his three long strings of hair would no longer fall in front of his eyes. Well, at least for now until his hair grew again. He'd have to get a haircut before he arrived home, thank god it was the weekend.

The ginger boy grabbed a pen from his backpack and wrote on the back of the small note in his own messy handwriting a simple thanks. It was weird; this entire situation was weird and left the boy screaming out questions in his mind.

Kevin stood up and folded the blanket, then placing the pillow on top and continued to gather his things. Finally taking a moment to clearly see the room he looked around one last time. He noticed the other lamp had been turned off and he wondered why the family had taken out the lighting from the ceiling. Electricity problems?

He saw another archway leading into what seemed like the dining room. At the far end of the dining room he could see a pair of wooden double doors that led onto a porch where the backyard seemed to be. He was curious to explore the rest of the house but instead the only thing that caught his eye was the sole picture of a slender raven haired woman.

She looked much like Eddward quite frankly, she must be his mother. The woman had the same ocean blue eyes, the same striking black hair, and the same angular jawline and chin. The only significant difference between them was their skin tones. She was pale and he was tan, probably from his father's side Kevin thought. She was a very beautiful woman, seemed very kind and regal from the picture. He couldn't seem to understand why Eddward had developed the attitude that he had. The guy had a wealthy lifestyle. Most would dream to have his life living in a home like this and with his talents.

Aside from the sole picture frame in the living room he found it odd that the place was practically barren. There were no decorations to make the place feel like home, no television and no figurines that he would expect to be placed in a home as large as this one. He couldn't tell what kind of family lived here. Maybe they were minimalists? Then why have such a big house with empty spaces. The living room was all but a large couch, one love seat, a bookcase with only 5 books and a coffee table. It was the bare minimum and he wondered if Eddward and his family ever actually used this room. Kevin grabbed his things and slowly limped out into the hallway he had seen the bully disappear last night. He was speechless as he made his way in the direction the raven haired boy had turned and saw there was a large flight of stairs make their way up to the second floor. Kevin really wanted to continue further into the house but every bone in his body told him to stop and leave.

Stepping back into the hallway he now knew was the entryway he saw that on the other side there was another archway that led into a completely empty room. He did step into this room and with furrowed eyebrows he simply let his eyes look around. There was absolutely...nothing in this room besides white curtains that covered the two windows. The boy was extremely uneasy, so many questions he wanted to ask. This...well this isn't how a normal family lived right? No matter how minimal they were. He noticed this room also didn't have light bulbs in the ceiling. Had they just moved in? Was that why there was barely anything in the house? If that were the case shouldn't there be more signs that that was the case? Kevin let out a shaky breath he knew he had to let the disturbing thoughts go.

Kevin stepped back into the entryway and opened the double doors finally leaving behind the ghostly home.

...

The ginger boy was slammed against his locker by a tall platinum blonde. The blonde bully snickered and motioned to his bald companion. It had become the usual routine that the J's would find him whenever they felt like it and beat him slightly before school and then have their way after school ended. It was like a game for them, to see how much he could endure before passing out in the school's bathroom stall until Nazz would find him after school with tear stained cheeks. For days now, their Captain hadn't shown up to their appointments. Eddward wasn't seen with his goons anymore and the only times he saw the guy was in his AP Biology class as indifferent as ever. Acting as if he wasn't the one who was letting Kevin suffer so much.

Somehow, Kevin couldn't settle on being calm after being in the bully's house two weeks ago and ever since he was hyper aware of Eddward's piercing stare anytime he bumped into the tall raven hair around school. Almost as if waiting to see if Kevin would dare mention that Eddward had helped him.

Yet nothing from Eddward came. He would cut off his stare when he looked back, then those elegantly written notes had stopped, and that craze look of interest when Kevin would appear in the same space as the bully had gone as well. He was being ignored, as if he didn't exist and Kevin didn't know what to make of it.

All that he knew was that the J's continued to beat him up as if nothing was out of the ordinary. He did take note that they were more brutal than they used to be when Eddward was around. It was like Eddward's presence had been holding them back from going too far.

Kevin was torn, he wanted to badly go up to his bully and just shout at him. His mind could not stop questioning everything after being inside the Vincent residence. The ginger couldn't focus on any of his school work and club activities anymore. Everything about Eddward was becoming an obsession or rather desperation. The boy didn't know what to do with himself; it was all driving him crazy. He was beginning to slowly break from the J's constant beatings; he was close to having enough. That was what Eddward had wanted. It was never as bad when Eddward was around. What would happen if he agreed to just forget? Was suffering all this physical pain worth it? At the end of the day, what would Kevin accomplish by letting Eddward have his way with him?

As he slid down the locker from yet another harsh shove as he watched Jimmy and Johnny leave laughing along. Maybe he should just give up? He noticed a paper fall down from the wall a few feet away from him, it seemed to be announcing something big. But Kevin was stubborn, and he didn't want to let Eddward Vincent win. He sat up straighter and reached for the paper and realized it was the announcement for Friday's swim meet against their usual rivaling school from Lemon Brooke. Kevin read through the paper carefully noting down the date and time, this was a perfect chance to talk with the raven haired bully. The ginger smiled folding the paper and placing it inside his backpack.
