I recommend rereading this entire chapter because I added a lot more description to it.

The boy cried and cried…
His tears stained his flushed bruised cheeks and redden his unfocused crystal eyes. He felt his body engulfed in pain and his chest quickly becoming a vacuum of hollowness. His bones felt like glass and his heart had detached itself and dropped into a pit. The only functioning organ in his vessel was his brain causing him a painful headache from all the voices in his head screaming at him.
Why are you alone? They asked "I don't remember..." he mumbled out straining his eyesight to look up at the white ceiling.
Why aren't your parent's home with you? They asked "I don't know..." he looked over to his side seeing all the glass on the red rug.
Because you're sick, they announced. "If i'm sick...wouldn't my parents know how to cure me?" he croaked out staring at all the medical books on the floor.
Because you're WORTHLESS, they shouted at him in a rough growl. "Am I truly not worthwhile?"
BECAUSE YOU'RE A BURDEN, they yelled at him angrily. "Then why was I born?" he sobbed out glaring at the velvet leather seat.
The boy's body trembled uncontrollably as painful sobs slipped through his quivering bloody lips. They wouldn't shut up. They wouldn't stop repeating the same things. "WHY WAS I BORN!" He screamed back desperately needing an answer. He closed his eyes tightly, and with one hand pulled his knees tightly against his chest while the other pulled at his hair trying to somehow rip the voices out.
He felt something wet his knee and made him open his eyes.
The top of his knee was smudged red and he watched as a red drop slid down his thin injuried leg.
There was pain…so much pain.
The boy reached up to his head, and felt a thin open gash of flesh from his forehead to his scalp. He was bleeding.
Why are you wounded?

It felt has if Friday had taken forever to arrive, but once the day had come Kevin was feeling quite antsy. He had made no attempt to capture Eddward's attention throughout the days leading up to the meet. Afraid that he would tire the bully's patience by the big day. But it was finally the day, and Kevin couple help but feel nervous questioning how the bully would react. Would he lash out? Or would he be hyped from the competitions adrenaline?
Kevin kept looking at the clock every five seconds, just praying for the school day to be over. He knew that today was the perfect day to try and talk with Eddward. The bully would for sure be on his good side right after because it was certain he would win our school yet another competition. He just had to be in a better mood today. Maybe Kevin could then convince him to let him help somehow. Maybe today would be the last time the J's would come after him and that thought gave him just a bit of relief.
As terrifying as Eddward Vincent was, the entire student body knew that he was their schools pride and joy during these competitions. His glory made even the football team pout in jealousy. Kevin knew that Eddward loved all the glory, it showed on his face the following day at school. The thing was, Kevin had never actually gone to see one of Vincent's famous swim meets. It was thanks to the bully that this small town's belittled school had finally gotten some fame, they were finally respected.
If only Eddward used that power for good... Kevin sighed looking down at the random doodle he was drawing in the corner of his worksheet. An abstract drawing most likely illustrating his mixed emotions. The last class of the day was silent making the time go by unbearably slow. The atmosphere made Kevin feel like be was about to rip his hair out but then winced remembering the feeling all too well.
He had so many questions for his tormentor that needed to be answered and no matter what today he was going to get some answers even if Eddward didn't want to. Kevin was stubborn enough to put up with anything the bully would throw at him. And liked it or not Eddward would listen and talk to him.
The bell announcing the end of the school day seemed to sound like a sudden thunder waking up everyone in the room. Quickly he and everyone rushed to get ready for the swim meet. Kevin knew Nazz would never accompany him. She would go straight home with a roll of her eyes, it was all about Eddward to begin with. They usually left together arm in arm to Nazz's place to hang out, never once had they had any interest in all the exaggerated rumors of Eddward's wins during a meet. The school called him the king of sharks, but never had Kevin had any interest to see exactly why they called him that. I mean, why would Kevin ever find interest in someone who lived to brutally torment him?
The only reason he had interest now, was because it had to do with something serious. Something he couldn't ignore and something that caused him to have sympathy towards his bully.
So before school ended, Kevin sent a quick text to his best friend letting her know he had to do some chores for the day and wouldn't be able to go along to her place. He knew the goons wouldn't do anything; they always went to the meets only because after they surely would be invited to some junk party and get wasted. However rumors had it that even though the parties were to 'celebrate' Eddward's wins, the star himself was never there. He always stayed behind until everyone left. What was he up to? No one knew and no one seemed to care.
Kevin followed the big crowd of students into the schools natatorium. There was an explosion of loud music as everything was coming together and students where shoving their way into the space already chanting. Over half the seats had been filled by the time Kevin had managed to maneuver his way through the crowd, leaving him to squirm his way trying to find a good spot. He decided to take a seat in the front well knowing that he was shorter than most kids his age and would struggle to see the action. It was his first time witnessing this so called epicenes after all.
While the crowd was still settling down, the two teams had begun warm ups. Stretching on the sidelines and swimming a couple of laps. He waited to see Eddward get into the water but he never did instead helping his team mates in their warm ups. Kevin even with his bad sight could tell that Eddward's hair was already damped meaning he had already done his warm up laps. Before people had showed up. Kevin stared wide eyed as he watched Eddward with crossed arms talking with the coach and what seemed to be the captain of the girls team as he kept a careful watch on his team mates. It was weird to see Eddward in a leader like role that wasn't in a negative light.
Loud ringing could be heard from a whistle and then they were announcing the first event. Kevin had seen a sheet that announced that Eddward would be swimming four events that night. The 200 Individual Medley, 200 Medley Relay, the 100 Butterfly, and the 400 Freestyle Relay. He was already marveled at the level of physical endurance the teen must have to be able to do all four events. He noticed that most of the swimmers only participated in up to three events, only the captain of the girls swim team was daring to level with the king of sharks.
He heard everyone around him whispering both from sheer excitement but also from scoping out the rivaling team. The Lemon Brooke team wasn't too bad looking, but he noticed their captain wouldn't take his eyes off of Eddward and Kevin knew that Eddward knew. The shark was purposefully ignoring the Lemon Brooke captain.
Finally, the varsity swimmers on both teams put on their swim caps, goggles and lined up taking their positions waiting for the whistle to signal their green light for the first event, the 200 IM. The air was tense, Kevin watched as Eddward stood perfectly still and it made him hold his breath. Right off the bat Eddward was starting the competition. The guy was focused but Kevin could see there was a dimness on the bully's expression.
A dimness he had seen from the raven haired bully a handful of times. He never dared to provoke the bully during those moments, unsure if it meant Eddward wouldn't hesitate to put a knife to his throat. The expression was emotionless but that was what Kevin read from the expression and he feared for the Lemon Brooke swimmer.
The swimmers were piercing intently at the water ahead of them as they waited and it must have been the longest second Kevin had waited because it all seemed to move in slow motion. He noticed the side glance the Lemon Brooke swimmer gave towards Eddward, and he noticed Eddward's attitude shift from emotionless to determined as he let out a long breath.
The moment they heard the whistle they dived into the water. Kevin's mouth fell open as he witnessed the most amazing thing that he had ever seen. The moment Eddward touched the water he had transformed. The boy's body moved swiftly and expertly cutting right through the water. It was like Eddward was truly dominating and very clearly in his element. Eddward had become the king of the sea, well, it was true that they didn't call him the king of sharks for nothing.
The slim boy was fast, he was strong, and he was precise. It was truly like seeing a great white shark swim. Vincent's muscles and movements worked along with the water rather than against. However, his rival was close behind but he could hear everyone around them excitedly whisper something about this 'Lemon Brooke guy having nothing on their captain'. As soon as the wall was touched Eddward gracefully turned and started the lap back followed by his rival.
Although, Eddward's butterfly was powerful, his backstroke was incredibly fast. In mere seconds he was what seemed like miles ahead of his rival. Kevin had never seen someone swim so fast and now understood why everyone around him were so quick to mock the Lemon Brooke swimmer. They all knew Eddward's technique.
Kevin could almost imagine the cruel smirk the bully must have on his face at this very moment as he took the lead. He could imagine how proud he must feel upon hearing the crowd cheer him on. Kevin didn't know how to feel about this side of his bully. On one hand he knew for sure it must be all boosting his horrid ego but at the same time this wasn't something bad to be proud of. Eddward Vincent, as Kevin observed, was beyond this town. The Vincent boy was truly a prodigy.
Before he knew it, Eddward had finished the freestyle and as soon as he touched the wall everyone around him had stood up roaring with pride. Kevin stayed seated unable to fully comprehend what he had just witnessed. The Lemon Brooke swimmer had only just started the last stroke and Eddward had already gotten out of the pool. His teammates surrounding him and patting his back. Kevin expected to see the bully provoke the team with a smirk or a smart comment but nothing came. Instead, Eddward stood still staring at the pool water with that emotionless expression once again. The look heavily unsettled Kevin but he wondered if maybe Eddward was simply unhappy with his performance? However, the results said otherwise. Eddward had set his team ahead.
There were a total of twelve events that night and the more that Kevin watched the teams compete the more awed he began to feel. Eddward's teammates were all very well practiced but Lemon Brooke's weren't far behind. While the sharks were fast their rivals were strong in their strokes allowing them to win a few of the events. The following two events, that Eddward participated in were just as awe striking as the first one he had witnessed. But after every event, the emotionless expression on the bully only seemed to make Kevin doubt his plan. One part of him wanted to run away and another wanted to stay.
Finally it came time for Eddward to compete in the last event. It was the 400 Freestyle melody and he and three of his sharks stepped up to the pool along with the Lemon Brooke Captain apparently going last just like Eddward. It would be captain vs. captain.
As he watched the first round of swimmers start, Kevin held tightly onto the strap of his bag unable to rip his eyes from the action. Everyone was anxious unable to wait for the final round where they would see these rivals finally face each other. As the third swimmer was on their last round closely followed by the Lemon Brooke swimmer, Kevin made his gaze up to see Eddward. He was curious if now Vincent would recognize his rival, but instead of looking to the side...Eddward lifted his eyes up.
Kevin held his breath because he swore that for a mere second Eddward seemed to have made eye contact with him. It was as if the bully had been aware of his presence the entire time and that scared the hell of little Kevin. He didn't want to find out what would come of this after the meet, but he had to stay positive and determined.
Then they dived into the water.
The Lemon Brooke Captain had made it in first but as soon as Eddward was in everyone knew who would take the lead. In seconds, Eddward made up for lost time and swam harder and faster than before. Kevin found himself unable to breathe once more as Eddward had once again transformed and now saw a shark surpass his rival by a long shot. Everyone in the audience was cheering him on, and clapping before he had finished the round.
Once again, as soon as his tanned hand had made contact with the wall the entire audience erupted in cheering and clapping. Kevin was in awe, with his mouth wide open. What was THAT! His mind screamed. Only now did the ginger understand how Eddward Vincent was respected by the Peach Creek athletes. This boy was truly gifted enough to compete in the Olympics.
With that the meet was over and everyone began to sing and chant as loud music started playing once again. They announced times and scores but everyone already knew the winners of that dual. Eventually, everyone started to stand up and leave all cheering for yet another rad party at who knows place. Kevin eyed to the side as he caught sight of the J's making their way out as they very visibly took advantage of the fact that they were Eddward's goons to get into the party. Kevin rolled his eyes wondering why Eddward would hang around those idiots, clearly being far above them in intelligence. Maybe the teen just needed a shift in people to help him? But the thought of befriending his bully only gave him goosebumps.
Kevin stayed seated waiting for everyone to leave, not in much of a rush knowing Eddward was said to always leave last. In the meantime, he thought about what he would say and how he would approach the swimmer. The small teen was far more anxious than he should be. That was because he expected to have seen a huge smile on Eddward's face throughout the meet, especially after winning, but he was as serious as ever. He wondered if the bully was always like this after a meet? Maybe he was just that competitive and maybe the swimmer was expecting to be better today. Maybe he hadn't met his own expectations and Kevin hoped that that didn't sour the mood.
A handful of minutes later, the crowd had long gone and he saw both the sharks and Lemon Brooke team make an exit as they all laughed along and excitedly talking about the after party. The Lemon Brooke team although invited just shook their heads with a small glare in their eyes and left. Kevin then finally stood up, walking up to the locker room door and anxiously waited. His nerves beginning to get the better of him, was this a good idea? He questioned feeling his heart beating faster and faster.
Yet minutes passed and there was no sign of the bully. Kevin was sure everyone had already left for sure, and feared maybe Eddward had left through the back. The ginger began to panic debating to walk into the room or not, he didn't want to make Eddward angry. Although, he probably was going to anyways... "Fuck it..." He whined out and stepped into the locker room.
Just like the teen had thought, there was no sign of anyone else in the room, solely for the faint sound of water running. Kevin walked around looking to see if the bully was still around, and when he saw a closed shower stall he figured the boy must be inside. He debated once again thinking if he should go back outside, and give the bully his privacy. However, he heard movement within the stall and saw the figure sit down on the floor. Confused Kevin stayed quiet and still simply observing. He saw the black swim attire
Ever so slowly he saw red begin to spread throughout the floor washing away with the running water. Kevin's heart stopped, he eyes flew wide open upon seeing there was a lot of it... And he knew what it was.
"EDDWARD" Kevin yelped out rushing to the stall and trying to open it, but finding it was locked.
He heard a breath of annoyance behind the stall before the bully spoke "Leave you damned imbecile..." A chilling calm voice called out from behind. Kevin knew for sure the boy must be rolling his eyes.
"Eddward...god damn it you're bleeding! Open up!" the ginger tried his best to shake the door open "You're gonna bleed to death you idiot!"
Kevin heard Eddward let out a faint breathy chuckle "Then, I suppose this is your lucky day Minnow"
"Damn it you bastard, let me help for fuck sake!" He pounded his small fist against the door irritated at the bully. Why was like this? The ginger looked down, and for once in his life thank god for his tiny figure. He knew he could fit under the stall perfectly. Kevin took his backpack off and threw it aside bending down on the floor to crawl under the door.
What he saw chilled him to the bone. Eddward was sitting on the floor with the calmest expression while both his wrist had been cut into and were bleeding. Holding his breath, he quickly slid up and shakily grabbed Eddward's wrists. The tiny ginger began trembling, with many more questions and concerns running through his head. He tried to open his mouth to say something but his throat was clogged with the words he wanted to get out. Swallowing his fear, he looked up to meet the teens dim blue eyes, they were observant, calm, and there was a slight glimmer of...tears.
It took everything for Kevin to rip his eyes from Eddward. But after finding the strength he stood up and turned off the running water, bending down to grab at Eddward's arms again. He saw the bloodied pocket knife on the floor and he wanted nothing more than to disappear the weapon."...Please let me help..." The boy pleaded as his own olive orbs began to become teary at the gory sight. The rip of skin long and swift as if done by a practiced hand. The red flesh although thin was still so raw and deep enough, it made him nauseous knowing that it could have easily led to this boy's death if he had cut just a tad bit deeper.
What would have happened if Kevin hadn't insisted on staying behind to talk to him? Would he have actually stayed here to die? What was wrong with him? Kevin didn't know how to breathe, he didn't know what to think but he wasn't about to let this boy go. His teary eyes carefully looked up to meet Eddward's once again "...Please" Kevin's voice was quiet and quivering but it held all the strength of his desperation.
Somehow, Eddward's expression softened and with a sigh he complied and let the ginger help him stand up. Kevin felt a breathtaking relief engulf him as he watched the raven haired teen allow himself to get help. The sensation caused his tears to escape from his eyes. Kevin quietly asked "...I-Is there a f-first aid in the office?"
"It's locked already" Eddward's cool voice answered back his dim blue eyes unwavering as he stared at the smaller teen. It almost felt like Eddward was studying everything about him and it only made Kevin more nauseous.
Kevin then took off his hat and sweater throwing them on top of the stall. He took his shirt off as well ripping it into two and placing it on the boy's wrist and pressing down at the wound hoping they would stop bleeding. He then looked up to meet Eddward's observant stare "Then let's get you home...?" He somewhat asked waiting for the taller boy's approval.
"Do you drive?" The raven haired asked holding his stare. His voice still calm and collected as if he wasn't currently bleeding.
"Yeah" Kevin responded.
"My keys are in the back pocket of my pants" he gestured outside to the lockers.
Kevin finally felt his legs come to life as he rushed out of the stall to an open locker with Eddward's belongings inside and began looking for the keys. He took out Eddward's small backpack opening it up and placing the folded pants and shirt inside the bag. He turned towards the stalls and saw the boy walking up to him still pressing down on the wounds, and he handed Eddward his black jacket. The ginger watched the boy gingerly slip it on, and realized he was bare as well and went over to grab his oversized sweater and hat and put them on. They were damp but in the moment it didn't matter.
Grabbing his own backpack and Eddward's, they both made their way out of the school trying to avoid any possible teachers, students, and janitors that might still have been roaming the halls. Following Eddward to the parking lot in the back of the school Kevin's panic began to take over him with every step he took. He felt like he didn't know how to breathe. Why was Eddward so calm! He was still bleeding!
Hesitantly, Kevin opened the driver's door to Eddward's black car and watched the other teen get in as well. The gingers body began to tremble at the sight of his own what used to be white shirt engulfed in a dark shade of red. He reached over to help the taller boy put on the seat belt and then put on his own. He started the car, and tightly held onto the wheel trying to calm his nerves, there was just so much blood and it wasn't even that deep of a cut. Yet somehow Eddward didn't seem disturbed in the slightest, like it was such a normal thing for him. He felt his chest rise and fall but it was like his lungs weren't able to be filled with air. As if there was something blocking them.
The sudden feeling of a slim cold hand on top of his made him gasp. Kevin followed the arm up to meet ocean blue eyes, and for a moment his mind had numbed. "Breathe Barr... you're going to get us in an unnecessary accident with your nerves" Eddward looked so collected, yet Kevin could tell he was beginning to feel faint as his skin began to pale from the loss of blood. So Kevin nodded and complied. He breathed in and out slowly relaxing his grip on the wheel. "I'll give you directions as you go, just head for the west side of town."
Kevin nodded and began to drive out of the school following the directions as he was told. The drive seemed so slow and painful to the tiny ginger, and with every red light they hit he hissed under his breath. Somehow just as his panic began to creep again, Eddward's quiet voice made sure to calm him back down with a simple direction. Kevin repeated the direction in his head until Eddward said another just to keep his mind focused on something other than the fact that the boy next to him seemed to start to drift off.
Turning into a neighborhood, Kevin immediately recognized the big white home and pulled up to the driveway. He stopped the car in front of the garage, took off his seat belt and turned to Eddward undoing his. "Eddward we're here" he lightly shook the boys shoulder. Once Eddward opened his eyes as a response Kevin got out of the car and went over to the other side to try and help him out and walk inside. Kevin was a tiny guy after all, and it took him all his strength to make himself become a crutch for the taller boy to lean on.
The ginger slipped under Eddward for a moment to open the door to the house. Immediately, he hugged the raven haired again and helped him inside. "Upstairs..." The slim teen groaned out. Kevin breathed in feeling unsettled being inside the eerie home. They went straight down the entryway and ever so slowly made their way up the stairs.
Once at the top he saw two small halls at opposite ends that led to two rooms each. "U-um...w-where is your room?" He quietly asked. He watched the taller boy open his eyes for a second and then point to their right.
"Left door" Eddward weakley mumbled out. As they made their way around to the right side Kevin looked up and noticed that once again, where there should be a chandelier, there was nothing once again. Where there should be portraits of Eddward and his family there were just plain white walls. As they made their way to the room there was a small loft area where he noticed had a view of the front lawn and street. Kevin with trembling hands and a hold of his breathe hesitantly opened the wooden door of Eddward's bedroom.
The first thing he noticed was, although the room was almost just as minimal as the rest of the house, it actually had more life to it. There was a full sized bed right in the center under the only window. To the opposite side of the door there was a white desk with texts, journals, a small lamp and a planner with a calendar on the wall. As he quickly ripped his eyes from the desk, he focused on getting Eddward to his bed first. He helped the injured boy sit on the bed and looked at his wrists once more holding back his nausea. Sometime along the way, they seemed to have finally stopped bleeding. Kevin sighed in relief closing his eyes for a second "W-where is your first aid?" He asked looking around the room. The freckled boy got chills feeling the hairs on his arms stand up upon realizing just how cold the room was, even for spring.
Eddward with closed tired eyes just mumbled out "the right door, inside a right cabinet" he sighed tiredly.
Nodding Kevin turned his head seeing the two doors and rushing into the right one. It was a small bathroom but big enough to have a shower with a tub as well. Kevin walked in and began his search for the kit opening all three of the cabinets on the right side. Not more than 5 minutes later Kevin was back beside Eddward.
He saw the raven haired boy lying down on the bed and seemed to be asleep. He carefully placed the kit on the bed and fearfully sat next to the boy "Eddward..." He called out in a whisper and got no response. Kevin then took the wet gauze sponge and gently grabbed Eddward's right arm pulling his sleeve up. The teen felt his panic start again at the sight of the cut. Why did he do this? Wasn't he alright? He just won our school yet another competition, so why? Why? His eyes began to tear up again as he softly tapped the wet gauze onto the wound. Why would he do this to himself? Kevin tears finally fell upon noticing the faint scars encompassing the boy's arms.
Running a shaky finger through the entire forearm, he felt the roughness of his skin and the slight bumps caused by the scars. He noticed how several of had been cut into more than once as if Eddward hadn't any more available skin for new ones. The scars only trailed between his wrist and the end of his forearm. Kevin figured this was because of his swimming, any further and people would see. But how did he hide them? How did no one on his team know about this? Just how great of a liar was Eddward Vincent?
Kevin finished cleaning the wound with the gauze and sniffed holding back cries. He quietly opened the kit and gently started pouring some rubbing alcohol into a dry gauze. His tears wouldn't stop pouring and he didn't entirely understand why. Why was he feeling so much over his tormentor? The last thing he ever expected was to cry over the well being of Eddward Vincent.
The ginger saw the hand he was holding tear away from his grasp and held his shaking hand tightly instead. He felt his chest rise and fall choking him once again. Hesitantly, he looked up to meet the raven haired boy who looked up at him for the first time ever with concern. "...breathe..." Eddward whispered watching the ginger through his tired lidded eyes.
As soon as the freckled boy was able to regain his composure he looked away from those blue eyes. Kevin wiped his eyes with the sleeve of his sweater and resumed to clean the wound again, sniffing here and then. He found it ironic that Eddward was the one doing the comforting, for many reasons. Once done, he put a Band-Aid on and moved to the other side of the boy to clean the other wound.
When the ginger had finished, Eddward had already fallen fast asleep. Kevin placed the kit and his own hat on the night stand and quietly made his way down stairs. This time taking the time to explore as he went down. He noticed that between the two ends of this circular hall as another set of double doors. He peeked inside noticing there was a small round table with two chairs to accompany it. There was a built in bookcase with only about 30 books, but it could hold many many more. The room had a light grey rug, the only true color in the room and a reading nook on the window. He stepped forward taking a seat on the soft cushion and looked outside. He noticed that he was right above the garage because right below he saw Eddward's car. He looked at the neighborhood realizing how oddly isolating it was. Every home had it good space of land separating every house equally. There was only one other house that he saw from up where he was that just as big as this one and it was farther down the road. He turned back looking up noticing that this room did have lighting on the ceiling as well a tall lamp.
After a long moment of being alone with his numbed mind and feelings he finally stood up and went to grab their backpacks from the car and closed the door. He entered the living room where he had spent the night, and placed the bags next to the small couch. He grabbed his phone and sent a quick text to his father, lying once again of his whereabouts. Kevin recognized the blanket that was folded lying on the couch as the one he had been covered with the last time he was here. Grabbing the blanket he made his way back upstairs into Eddward's room. One his way back he saw another set of double doors on the opposite end of where the stairs were. He wondered where it led, but he was too tired at this point to explore further.
Kevin made his way up the set of stairs glancing to his left feeling more uneasy so he rushed past towards the right side. Quietly, he entered the cold room once again seeing the stillness of Eddward's body. It made him want to panic but as soon as he saw the soft movement of his chest and twitch of a hand the smaller boy let his worries wash away. He unfolded the blanket and covered Eddward's sleeping body. He sat on the desk chair and turned his attention to the items on the desk, the calendar on the wall had a photograph image of a hunchback whale. It was then he noticed there was a label right underneath the calendar that simply said...calendar. Looking down he saw another label on Eddward's notebook, saying History Notebook, and another right on the desk saying desk. After everything that happened that day, after all the emotion and panic...Kevin smiled.
He turned in the chair to look out the window. It was a lovely view of the sky only some tall trees coming into view. It was still pretty early, the sun was still high up in the sky. Slowly, Kevin began to flutter his eyes close until he had also fallen asleep.
...
Hearing faint whimpers, the tiny ginger opened his eyes again. His heart stopped for a moment as he realized he wasn't in his own room. It only took a second, before the memories flooded his brain and he relaxed. He saw that the sky had darkened and the stars had begun to show brightly.
Hearing whimpers once more, Kevin turned towards the sound. His eyes went wide with panic as he saw Eddward shivering under the blanket, was it because he had slept in his swim wear? Kevin hoped the boy hadn't gotten sick. He quickly stood up and quietly walked over to the boy.
As he watched the fearful expression on the raven haired teen, Kevin assumed the teen was having a nightmare. Kevin saw the boy tightly grip at his hair from under his black striped beanie, and his lips muttered out words the smaller boy couldn't seem to make out. The ginger sat down on the bed and placed a hand on the boys shoulder leaning down "Hey Eddward...it's alright" he whispered trying to calm the boy.
Before he knew it, Eddward's eyes flew open and he reached up to grab Kevin by the neck pulling him down underneath him. The raven haired tightly gripped the gingers neck, eyes filled with anger and tears "LIAR!" He yelled out. Kevin immediately had his trembling hands tightly gripping Eddward's, as he gasped out trying to take in air so he wouldn't suffocate.
"E-Edd...ward!" he choked out as he pulled at the boy's hands desperately, his feet slightly kicking at the boy on top. At the sound of the freckled boy's voice Eddward's eyes focused on the boy beneath him. Realization hitting him of whom it was that he was choking, he relaxed then releasing Kevin.
Kevin gasped out for air and coughed feeling his lungs and throat hurt. He grabbed at his sweater squeezing his eyes shut trying to calm down. Then his gaze moved over to the boy next to him who had his face hidden in his hands. After some minutes Kevin felt air enter his lungs comfortably once again and he gently sat up observing the hunched teen. He was looking at the most naked part of Eddward Vincent and Kevin didn't know how to feel. He was still trembling, unsure if it was from fear, panic, or just a mixture of both. Hesitantly Kevin tried to reach a hand to the raven haired but stopped before he touched the other and pulled back looking down at his trembling freckled hand.
He was undeniably afraid.
They shared a long moment of silence in the dark room, Kevin trying to calm down and Eddward quietly whimpering. "Sorry..." Eddward's cool voiced whispered out "...I confused you..." He breathed out in a quiver.
Kevin could tell the tremor of sincerness in the boy's voice as he spoke out. "It's..." He began to speak but was afraid of triggering something again. Instead he stayed silent looking up at the boy sitting next to him. Questions, so many questions storming his brain as he saw the heart tearing expression on Eddward's profile, but now wasn't the time. After many more long minutes, he finally felt confident enough to reach and hold Eddward's hand tightly in his own.
They continued to stay silent for the longest time, both consumed in their own thoughts and appreciating the compy of the other. As the moon began to brightly shine through the darkness of the sky, the boys began to drift back to sleep leaning against one another.
For the first time in years Eddward felt warm.
...
