My Iron Giant
-The Iron Titans-
Part 3
Not even in another world could a few days pass without something happening. His multiple cameras across his body continued to scan everything, making sure no threat was going to teleport to them. Izuku was right behind Ochaco as she sat on the couch next to Momo. Knight was right beside him, seemingly lost in thought if his lack of movement indicated anything. Melissa was typing away at her laptop, keeping herself constantly active as she paced back and forth. Nezu stood near the windowed wall, looking out towards the school property.
Then there was All Might, leaning behind them on the back wall. One of his glowing green cameras made contact with the blue eyes of the hero. Izuku turned it away, unable to look at the man. The last time something bad happened...he didn't want to think about it. An internal promise was made, Izuku wasn't going to let another world lose its symbol of peace.
"Ugh… it's no use. I have only the emergency signal from the Den to work with. It's too weak to get any significant progress in accessing the island's intranet." Melissa announced, sitting on the corner of Nezu's desk as she didn't take her eyes off the screen.
"Do you know what happened to Luna?" Knight asked the question on everyone's mind.
Izuku wasn't sure how to feel about artificial intelligence upon meeting Luna the first time, yet her childlike eagerness and curiosity felt genuine. The moment she called him uncle, it struck a chord in him. Whatever Luna was, she had innocence. That had to be protected.
"She is safe for now. I can tell from the telemetry that she was put to sleep because of the lack of power. The Den is operating on emergency power right now, it will last for a few days at this rate, around a week…" Melissa continued to work, the dark circles under her eyes becoming more prominent by the minute. One could only imagine how she was feeling. Her home was cut off, her father along with it.
"For some reason the automatic defences of the island were not triggered, a mass evacuation was performed too. What really worries me is this." Connecting her computer to the tv on the wall, an image was displayed from one of the security cameras of the island. A massive ship was halfway into the battletorn runway, latched onto the ground by thick chains. Ramps descended from the vessel with mechanical soldiers marching down them and spreading across the island.
Momo shouted with recognition when she saw it. "Those robots look like the ones from USJ!"
"I thought that too, you saw them from much closer so it's fully confirmed now." Melissa nodded, her fingers moving faster on the keyboard.
"So the MLA makes its first move…" Nezu said, mostly to himself.
"Gaining an upper hand with the portal disruptors we failed to remember that it isn't their only mode of transportation. It's rather funny how even I wasn't able to predict that, especially as it is so basic." He continued, not turning around.
"So what's All Might doing here? They don't seem to have any super weapons or giant monsters. He could just go over and solve it faster than any of us." Uraraka asked, finally speaking up in the tense air.
That was a good point, All Might had fought armed criminals and villains several times. If these were robots then he wouldn't have to hold back as much. Though, in case there was some mechanical Nomu waiting, Izuku would be ready to act.
"It's not that easy young Uraraka." All Might spoke to them, taking a few steps forward. " The HCI gave out an order to every hero under it's employment. Because of the threat from MLA all heroes are to be on standby, under no circumstances we are allowed to leave the country." His knuckles cracked as he tightened his fists, infuriated with having no ability to aid his friend.
"To make matters worse, there was no official statement of any kind from the commission. It's entirely possible that they don't even know about the events that transpired on the island." Nezu turned around, taking a seat at his desk.
"What about the people that live there? What about uncle David?" Momo asked with clear worry in her voice.
Melissa stopped talking, closing her eyes as she took in a deep breath. "Taking into consideration that the personnel is one of the most precious things there… I think that Papa will be alright… I hope…" Her voice wavered, her emotions threatening to break through.
"Nezu." Knight interrupted with no hint of emotion. "What are the chances that a rescue mission will be organized in less than 6 days?"
"With the current state of affairs I'm afraid they are rather slim to none." The small rodent replied quickly, as if he already asked that question himself.
"Then I'll do it myself." The Vanguard class Titan stood at attention, handing the lifeless white drone to Momo.
Izuku watched him, considering the option himself. Either one of them could most likely handle a small army like that. The only concern was that Knight had limited power, while he himself didn't.
"I'm glad that as a hero hopeful you are eager to do such a thing, but as the Principal of this school I can't allow my students to endanger themselves in such a way." Nezu said, shutting the titan down.
"Are you serious? I'm more than capable of taking care of myself. Luna doesn't have the luxury of time, we need to act now." He spoke threateningly, with clear anger.
"Zuku? What do you mean she doesn't have time?" Momo asked in a whisper.
"It's because of the way her hardware works." Melissa began to answer. "In order to achieve sufficient speed of calculations needed for her personality matrix to work it does not incorporate any storage devices. Her server, the brain, is constructed from a series of quasi four dimensional random access memory shards connected via prototype quantum entanglement nodes. It needs a large amount of power to run at full capacity."
"If her power supply fails she will be erased, returned to the state when her construct was uploaded and started on the servers." Melissa stated with dread.
"Wait… If her brain is in a computer, can't you make a backup copy or something?" Ochaco asked with some hope.
"It's not that simple. Her basic construct is already massive in terms of standard data storage requirements. Now after she was active for over a month she stabilized and grew, she gained memories and experience of her own. It's physically impossible to transfer her back, unless we have a second server cluster that could support her fully." Melissa replied patiently. She took off her glasses to rest her tired eyes a bit, massaging the bridge of her nose.
"That's why I'm going. She is my only family, I WON'T let her down." Knight stated once more, no room for argument.
"We, can go." Izuku sat up straighter, meeting eye to eye with Knight. "Safer that way." He already has taken on enemies that would crush armies. Dealing with lifeless machines would be no issue.
"Yeah! And if I pilot with my Izuku, we won't have anything holding us back. No way would they see that coming." Ochaco stood up, taking his side. He was acting, choosing, no way was she not going to support him.
"Now, now. Let's not get hasty here." Nezu clapped his paws, flinching under the direct gaze of the two metal giants.
"As I said before, being the Principal of this school I can't authorize my students to go on a dangerous mission like that. It would require a lot of careful planning and preparation. You certainly have sufficient combat abilities but your training has only just begun. In those circumstances, as a member of UA's faculty, I can't let you children go off into danger like that." He reasoned with caution, reaching into one of the drawers of his desk.
"You won't stop me." Knight spoke harshly.
Izuku glanced to the titan beside him, the one that seemed ready to charge out of the school at that very moment. Were they doing this? Right now? If they go to rescue I-island right now they might lose their chance to get help from the school to get home. He gave a glance to Ochaco, the girl he would always protect. That was the price, act now to save them, and prevent her from getting home.
Was it worth it?
"Well, on another note~" The odd tone from the principal confused everyone, halting any further action.
"It seems that the arrival of our two guests here did quite a number on our support course facilities. I will need to ask you to safekeep your equipment and weapons until further notice, Knight-san." His paws grabbed a thick folder tucked away at the bottom of the drawer. Taking out a pen, he scribbled along some of the paper.
Izuku looked at Ochaco, hoping that she might have an answer to what he was doing. She seemed just as confused.
"Oh! Look at this! Mrs. Yaoyorozu applied for a one week leave permit instead for a one day one. It probably was only a mistake but you can use it if you want, it would be too much hassle to change it now."
Their eyes widened, especially the blond hero's.
"Sir… I'm hoping that you know what you are doing." All Might smirked, giving a wink to one of Izuku's cameras.
He wouldn't let All Might down again.
"I think that this meeting should end now. There are a lot of things that need my attention, the training sessions with pro heroes won't organize themselves." Nezu clapped his paws, dismissing them. Melissa folded up her laptop, dead sprinting out of the room before anyone else. Momo and Ochaco followed right behind her, keeping pace with the intelligent teen. As soon as they were clear of the door Knight stepped out into the hall with Izuku beside him.
Their metal footsteps nearly cracked the tile under their feet as they charged forward to catch up to the girls. It didn't take long, given the fact that each stride was ten feet long. They had to slow down when they caught up, but they were ready to help.
Melissa looked up at Knight as they moved forward. "We need to get-"
"On it." Knight picked up Melissa and quickened his pace.
"What about us-Woah!" Momo yelped as Izuku picked her up along with Ochaco in different hands.
"Izuku." Ochaco turned to her friend as she held onto his thumb. "I need my guns."
"They should still be in my room. We can go there first as Zuku helps Melissa get her things." Momo said, getting a nod from the Titan and Ochaco.
They nearly broke down the doors as the two metal giants stormed out of the building. Knight charged straight to the support workshops with Melissa while Izuku brought his two passengers to the dorm buildings.
All of them, were preparing for war.
Sitting on Izuku's shoulder, Ochaco waited with the two Titans by one of the back entrances onto UA's property. It was quite far away from campus, surrounded by a large forested area and certainly out of sight. She ran her hand over the rifle on her lap, the one recently gifted to her by her teacher before being sent to another dimension. At the moment she wore some casual clothes gifted to her by Momo, contrasting the militaristic titans and weaponry around her.
She didn't think she would be facing real conflict so early, willingly too. The only comfort she had was that she wasn't fighting people, just machines. Snipe had trained her to be ready to take a life if necessary, but she really hoped it never would be. The Nomu didn't count, that was a monster. Glancing at Izuku, or where his body really is in the walking laser tank, two of his cameras turned to her.
When he wasn't in control of himself, he was ready to take Bakugo's life. Was that still the case? Shaking her head, Ochaco dispersed the thought. Izuku was fine now, himself, just with a metal body. He's in control of himself again. Speaking of cases..
"Hey, Knight-san. What do you have in the crate?" She asked after a long silence.
Knight was heavily armed, strapped with a big gun on his back, shoulder mounted weaponry, a sword, pretty much everything he could fit on him. He was standing near a large container with a few lights and a computer screen on the side.
"It's Melissa's Javelin." He replied, barely acknowledging her.
"I really hope that's not just a box of spears, right?" She should be used to technical terms by now, but nothing came to mind about what a javelin should be besides, well a javelin.
He was about to answer her, but stopped to stare at the now opening gates of UA. "They are here."
With the gate now open a large semi truck rolled in dragging a slightly oversized trailer behind it. It looked rather sleek and expensive, even for a vehicle of this sort. A massive bull bar at the front of it wrapped around the cabin like a protective cage. It was painted in black, red and green with the trailer being in the same color scheme.
It pulled up next to them, hissing as the brakes slowed it to a gentle stop. Wow, that looked expensive.
"Hey guys! Sorry for the long wait!" Melissa shouted, unrolling the driver's side window while Momo stepped out of the passenger door.
"Let's pack up. I hope that you two will fit in the back, they didn't have anything bigger than this." The raven haired girl said, Knight picking up the large box and bringing it to the back of the trailer. Izuku followed him, seeing it was the only place they were going to fit.
"Where did you even get this truck? It looks brand new…" Ochaco asked, realizing again how much money Momo has.
"I bought it? It's surprisingly easy to get one of those."
Friggin rich people.
"Yeah, Izumi would love that dude that could change the colour of things he touched to customize the vehicles they sold. You didn't have to take so long to choose this color scheme though." Melissa said with a strained smile, exiting the vehicle.
"It's a bit tight but they did fit inside, it's good that they don't get cramps from folding themselves so much." She opened the door for them, letting Ochaco take a look as she sat in the center.
It had that new car smell, custom made to fit leather seats, heated/cooled cup holders, anti frost windows, multi safety cameras with blindspot viewing, auto parallel parking!
Friggin rich people, buying such fancy cargo vehicles she didn't even know exist.
Wait, Melissa was driving?
"So in this world you can get a license at such a young age? That's convenient…" Ochaco said aloud, but Melissa started looking more and more, mischievous.
"Well… about that… I don't really have one."
Maybe she should have just ridden in Izuku's cockpit. It was a hell of a lot safer in there, and cheaper.
Izuku sat in the back, cramped inside the trailer. His finger kept twitching, tapping against his leg as he mentally prepared for battle. All Might probably felt like this when he went to confront All for One. Though this wasn't some ancient villain, this was an army of tin soldiers. The enemy didn't seem very strong, but lives were still on the line.
When this was over, could they make it back home? He had just started making good friends, and it seemed the same case for Ochaco. The loud Setsuna, the strict Tenya, the sweet Pony, the humorous Manga, the caring Shiozaki, the manly Tetsutetsu, and the shy Kinoko. It took a lot of convincing from Nana to show him Ka-Bakugo wasn't a friend anymore. He was still getting to know all his fellow club members, but they seemed nice. Izuku's family was also bigger than he thought it was, his Dad was back, he was related to the Todorokis. Oh damn things were way too confusing. That wasn't even including the mysteries of his quirk, power, robot stuff.
Worst part was, he couldn't even properly talk about it to anyone.
The main optic on his body turned to where Ochaco was in the center passenger seat in the semi. Walls weren't an issue, as he easily saw through them to see her. She was on her phone as Melissa was ordering in the drive thru. Did she even have a signal in this world?
Hold on, if he had the ability to control machines, then that means..

[Rewriting Data, Reformatting Memory and Apps, Optimizing preferences]
'¸,ø¤º°`°º¤ø,¸¸,ø¤º°'
He could see the text across her screen, those unknown symbols that spoke for him to technology. The longer he stared at them the longer his thoughts became distant. Directives, goals, missions, the primary one was clear yet there was another. An original directive.
It called to him.
[Incoming Communication]
Maybe not that literally.
"Did you just hack my phone?" Ochaco's voice came directly beside his ear, his real ear inside the metal man.
'Yes. Sorry, still figuring this out.' There wasn't a voice, but a quick line of text came up on her phone.
"You're fine, not like I have anything on it that you haven't seen. Hey! At least we can talk over distance now! I was going to try having Melissa-"
"You were gonna have me do what?" Melissa's voice came over the phone.
"Not you." Ochaco clarified. "Our Melissa. You're still great though."
"Can I get eighteen number nines on top of my order?" Momo tried to whisper to Melissa, yet the microphone picked up on it easily.
"Where do you even keep all of those calories?" Ochaco asked curiously.
"Well, because of my quirk I-"
"Who are you on the phone with anyways?" Melissa asked with some concern in her voice.
"Izuku."
"How? Your phone shouldn't be-"
"Can I please get your order?" The exhausted part time employee begged.
"Sorry." All three girls apologized.
Hanging up to no longer bother them, Izuku was again left alone with Knight in the trailer. Turning towards his fellow interdimensional Izuku, he saw him in the exact same position, staring at the floor. Each of his metal digits were clenched, grinding against each other. It was concerning.
"Are you… Okay?" Stupid question, one of the worst quesitons to ask someone. Izuku learned that at the funeral, but Knight seemed honest and simple so maybe a question like that was best.
"... I guess I'm not. I'm angry at myself that I didn't predict all of this, and worried for Luna." Knight said, his voice low and soft.
"Can't predict… everything." Izuku replied, it was all he could come up with given his lack of vocal skills. If Knight had a phone or something he could take over that would work. He dared not try taking over him directly, not knowing what kind of outcome would come out of it.
"What's your world like?" Knight asked suddenly, surprising his companion.
"Like this one… I guess. No war… but villains are strong too." Izuku tried to describe. All for One was something both their worlds shared, the Nomu not so much. "How's yours?"
If Izuku recalled correctly this wasn't even Knight's original world. Whatever brought him here, maybe they could use that after this was over.
"I don't really know. I guess that it's a rather good assumption that I'm like you, not from this world I mean. I remember a few things, flashes of people and places. I remember a few people that I met since coming here, but they don't recognize me. There was a conflict of some sorts going on, I was in a team tasked with protecting the life of everyone else." Knight slowly explained.
"You were a hero?" Hopefully he would be able to find an appropriate time to write down his hero stats in his notebook.
"A friend I remember called us the defenders of humanity. Probably for some we were like heroes. Not everyone had a meta ability back home, judging from what I remember they were rather rare to be completely honest. A complete opposite of what's in this world."
"Quirks are, " Damn, another word he would have to practice.
"I haven't looked far into the details of how such abilities could develop, but they are indeed a curious phenomena." Knight's main optic traced over the body of Izuku, reexamining the frame that resembled an Ion class Titan.
"Yours is particularly unique, defying most known laws of energy conversion and transference. I am able to understand and recreate nearly all functions of my body. Yet you seem to have control issues." Just about every quirk that he has analyzed had rules to them, organic functions tied to every detail. Perhaps it was common for Izukus across the dimensions to have mysteries.
"Only, got it..a month ago."
Well, it awakened a month ago, or was a part of One for All? Thinking has been way too hard lately.
"You mentioned your power source is your quirk, correct?"
"Yes."
"If you already have a quirk that's being used as energy, then what is it powering?"
….That was a good point. Was it a quirk powering a quirk? Or something else entirely? If this, machine, wasn't a quirk….then what was it?
"This is where we are now, and this is the course that I-island is on right now. We have a small window to catch them around here." Melissa explained, showing a map on her laptop and munching on a burger.
After getting some food from a drive thru they arrived on the coast, nearly a full day of driving away from Musutafu. All of this to avoid anyone that might report a large expensive semi that was definitely larger than most road laws allowed in any country driven by a teenage girl.
"Hey-" Ochaco tried calling out, popping another fry into her mouth.
"I should be capable of achieving independent flight if necessary, albeit with a massive dent to my power core as the cost." Knight suggested.
"Guys-" She had a great idea that could really get them to I-island easily.
"It would be better to avoid that, Mo could give you more palladium but it would take time to replace and that could prove difficult once we are onboard." Melissa rejected the idea after a few seconds.
"We could just-" Was anyone going to listen to her? Izuku was right next to her, half his cameras on the group but his main ones at her. At least he was, but he always was.
"If we drive to Nagoya airport we could use one of my father's Atlas planes. They can lift nearly 200 tons, it would be easy to just jump down onto the island." Momo proposed, beginning to eat another burger by herself.
"Whatever." Ochaco wiped her hands on a napkin, throwing it into the air. Izuku's eye shot a laser at it, burning it instantly to avoid the villainous crime of littering. She gave up trying to interrupt their brainstorming session. Whether it was because she knew nothing about I-Island or they sincerely didn't notice her trying to pitch ideas, it was still annoying to be ignored.
"It's risky and Uncle Takahashi would probably chew our heads off for that, but… The I-island's air defence is quite powerful, we would need a perfect angle of approach and both Izuku's would need to soak up quite a bit of gunfire… It's doable. We would need to watch out to not pierce through the structure itself upon landing too, otherwise we will just fly straight into the ocean below." The blonde inventor replied, trying to gain as much information about the state of the defense systems on the island through her limited connection.
"Hey Izuku." Ochaco got the attention of her giant friend. His main eye looked back to her, ready for whatever she could ask.
"When's the last time you got big? Like really big?"
"A week?"
"Do you remember that one movie my Dad recommended? That could carry us there."
His single lens widened, an internal smirk appearing on his actual face. Ochaco could practically feel the excitement coming from the boy. Who didn't love that movie?

[Upgrading..]
The metal plates across his body shifted apart, allowing even larger ones to take their places. Larger, bigger, the more he grew the more the sand shifted under his feet.
"If it's too risky to go by air then maybe we could go by sea." Momo moved her burger like it was moving across the waves of the ocean.
"That's even less likely." Melissa took off her glasses, rubbing her nose. "Even if whoever has invaded the island didn't manage to get the ground defenses online after disabling them, we would sacrifice too much speed and maneuverability to avoid any resistance."
"If we modify an existing aquatic vehicle made for stealth we might be able to disrupt their equipment to get on board. Although we would need near military grade quality that is large enough to carry all of us. Purchasing anything like that would attract attention from Japanese officials. I doubt Nezu would be able to properly explain why we are heavily armed and seeking to leave the country." Knight said, trying to help with ideas. The more and more they discussed possible plans the less likely it seemed they could get to the moving fortress.
A large shadow began to fall over them, darkening the beach. The first thought in their heads was that it might be a cloud, until they made out the shape of it.
It was humanoid.
Turning around, they saw Ochaco standing with her arms crossed with the biggest smug grin on her face. Next to her was no longer the Ion Titan they knew, but something much bigger. Izuku stood at nearly four hundred feet, the exterior metal a dark military green. His head had one visor that stretched across the face, two green glowing orbs under it that blended with the clear material. The three were in awe of Izuku's newest form, the colossal recolored version of Gipsy Danger that was much larger than depicted in the film.
"We can walk." Izuku's voice boomed, shaking the ground they stood on.
We finally see it, a Jaeger from Pacific Rim. I don't know who might have noticed but I did reference it early on in the fic. We have about two more chapters in the crossover before we get them home and ready to kick ass at the sports festival.

I don't think I'll end up doing something that specific, but it might be mentioned as an idea.

Well, he probably doesn't want to let his Mom see him hooked up to a bunch of cables and wires in his body. Even if he is clothed.

MLA is confirmed to be making moves against I-island, pure invasion. As for space battleship, I have stated many times before in Author comments that Izuku will always turn into a humanoid form, no beasts or vehicles.

Even if they had the option to not go and fight, everyone knows that they'll get themselves involved.
