Episode 11: Blazing with a Blade

One morning in the gym, Phoenix, who is in demon-like form, lands her feet against the wall and bounces off as she holds the kanata in her hands. Cloud is below as he stands his ground. Phoenix swings her sword as Cloud does the same with his, and both swords collide with each other. Phoenix and Cloud continue to clash their sword against one another as they also dodge their attacks.

Sitting on the bleachers are Conan, Grace, and young Zǐ Māo. They are watching Phoenix's training and are very interested.

"Phoenix is doing really good with her sword fighting," Zǐ Māo says.

"Yeah. She seems really good, but Cloud is still the master swordsman," Conan says.

"That's true. He's been training for years since he got to Hell. Even when he was alive he was an expert with a sword," Grace says.

"He is?" Zǐ Māo asks.

"He really is. That is one of the reasons why he became second in command of Satan's royal guards," Grace answers.

"Oh," Zǐ Māo replies.

Phoenix then skids on the floor with her feet and comes to a stop. She then pushes herself to pick up speed and uses the power in her hand to create a kunai. Then she begins to attack, but Cloud uses his sword to prevent it. Cloud then begins to attack, but Phoenix dodge and jumps back as she lands on the ground. The two then stare at each other as they take deep breaths as they wait for the next attack and yet, aware that the opponent is ready for it as well.

Cloud then stands up and places the sword in his scabbard, "You did an excellent job with your sword wielding. Your speed and skill is improving, but you will need to make sure you practice trying to use your powers into your sword and your other abilities."

"Thank you, sensei," Phoenix says and bows her head.

Cloud bows his head and says, "Good job, that is all the practice for today. We shall continue first thing tomorrow."

Phoenix nods her head in reply.

Conan, Grace, and Zǐ Māo walk over to her as she changes back to her more human form.

"You did great on your training today, Phoenix," Grace says.

"Yeah. You were great," Zǐ Māo happily says.

Conan turns his head a little away as he says, "Yeah. You did a good job."

"Thanks. I'm feeling beat. I'm going to go up to my room a little while," Phoenix says.

A little time later, Phoenix heads into her room to see Kyuubi sleeping on the bed. She reaches her hand out and pets the little fox on the head. He stirs a little, but falls asleep. Phoenix giggles in reply. Since she has a long day of training, she heads to the restroom and starts the water in the tub to wash herself after her training.

Sometime later, after Phoenix has her bath and changes into some clean clothes, she is hanging out with everyone else in the dining room. Phoenix is playing chess with Angel Dust. Angel moves one of the pieces to a box on the chess board.

Phoenix then moves her piece to a box and says, "Checkmate."

"Urgh, again! That's the tenth time in the row!" Angel groans and brushes his hair back.

Vaggie chuckles, "She beat you again."

"That's like ten times," Grace says, and giggles.

Angel glares at the girls, "Yeah yeah."

"You wanna play again?" Phoenix asks.

"And get beaten by you again? No thank you," Angel answers.

"So anything that we should do today?" Phoenix asks.

"Not really. So far, no one seems to want to join the program," Charlie says, sounding a little disappointed.

"Yeah. Well, it is what to be expected. No Sinner wants to be redeemed. They think it's a stupid idea," Angel says.

Phoenix sternly says, "Well, we didn't help on the matter when the news about us being in that Turf War appeared on television."

"Correction Phoenix, Angel is the one who didn't help on the matter. You just happened to end up in the wrong place at the wrong time, you had no idea that this was going to happened," Vaggie says.

"I guess. The only thing I ended up was transforming, kicking those Sombras and those demons and ended up beginning a big hit on the news, but mostly a big target of all of Hell," Phoenix says.

"True, but you ended up becoming a big celebrity. Everyone wants to know who you are and want to get to know you, you. And I'll bet you'll end up with a few fans," Angel says.

Phoenix sighs, "Forgive me that your words do not inspire a great deal of confidence."

"You need to learn to relax my dear. You should be moved that you become a big success in all of Hell," A familiar radio voice says.

Charlie and the others scream in surprise while Phoenix turns her head to see the Radio Demon.

Vaggie angrily glares at him, "Can you stop doing that?"

"Stop doing what?" Alastor asks.

"Stop appearing out of nowhere and freaking us out," Vaggie sternly says.

"God Al, somebody oughta put a bell on you or something," Angel adds.

"Now now," Charlie says, trying to calm the mood.

"You all need to learn to have some fun, nothing like getting the old blood pumping. Sort of speak. We need to have a little excitement in this hotel," Alastor says.

"That doesn't mean scare the crap out of us," Husk says.

Outside the Hazbin Hotel, Cherri Bomb walks over to visit with a friend of his.

"So Angie is staying in this piece of junk. It's a little run down," Cherri says.

Cherri Bomb walks over to the door with her backpack in her hand and knocks on the door.

In the hotel while the argument is going on Charlie and Phoenix hear a knock on the door.

Phoenix stands up and says, "I'll get it."

Phoenix walks over to the lobby and reaches the front door. She opens the door and to her surprise, she sees a friend of hers.

"Cherri," Phoenix happily says.

"Hey Phoenix, so you're staying here too?" Cherri asks with a grin.

"Yeah. It's a bit of a long story, but I didn't expect to come for a visit," Phoenix says.

"I'm mostly here to visit Angel since he told me that he'll be living here. Is he here?" Cherri replies.

"He is. He's in the lobby with the others," Phoenix says.

Phoenix opens the door and moves over, "Come on in."

"Thanks girlfriend. Glad I know I get to hang out with you, your little fox, and your young feline friend along with Angel," Cherri says, and walks in.

"Glad to have you here. We're actually kind of bored anyway," Phoenix says.

She closes the door and walks with Cherri to the dining room. Soon, Phoenix walks back into the dining room with Cherri Bomb close behind.

"Hey Angel, look who decided to visit," Phoenix says.

Angel turns his head and shows a grin on his face, "Hey Cherri, didn't expect you to come? Great to see you."

"You too, Angie. I was getting bored so I decided to come over and hang out with you. But it also looks like I'll be hanging out with Phoenix and the others too," Cherri says.

Angel walks over as he says, "You know it sugartits."

Soon, Zǐ Māo walks over to the group and says, "Um, hello Cherri."

Cherri kneels to the cat's height, "Hey little guy, see you're doing great."

"I suppose," Zǐ Māo answers and hides behind Phoenix.

Soon, Charlie, Vaggie, Conan, and Grace walk over. Vaggie is not looking pleased with the frown on her face and her arms crossed.

Charlie happily walks to her and says, "Hello. Welcome to the Happy… I mean Hazbin Hotel."

"Yo. Princess Charlotte, right?" Charlie replies.

Charlie nervously laughs, "It's just Charlie. No need with the formalities."

Then hugs Vaggie, "And this is Vaggie, my girlfriend and also an employee here."

"What's up," Cherri replies with a wave.

Grace says, "i'm Grace and this is my brother, Conan."

"Hey," Conan says.

"Hey yourself," Cherri says.

Cloud walks over, "I'm Cloud. I'm their mentor."

"Nice to meet you," Cherri replies.

Then looks around, "So this is the hotel you're staying at. I picture it to be more run down and such."

"It was. Until the mini cyclops was able to clean this place in the matter of minutes," Angel says.

"Who?" Cherri says, confused.

Suddenly, Nifty zips in and happily says, "That's me."

Cherri steps back with a yelp, "Where did you come from?"

"I was in the laundry room doing some laundry, but I heard there was a visitor so I decided to see you. Hey you're a cyclops demon like me. And I know you're the Spunky Powerhouse, Cherri Bomb. I saw you on T.V a lot. You really know how to give people a good bang and…" Nifty continues to talk fast and with a big grin that it's kind of hard to understand her.

Charlie giggles, "It seems that Niffty has gone off on a tangent."

"She'll be like this for a short while," Husk replies.

"And who are you supposed to be?" Cherri asks, looking at the cat.

"That's Husk. He's well, working here at the front desk in a way. He was brought here by Alastor," Phoenix says.

Cherri grows weary and asks, "Alastor? You don't mean the…"

"That will be me my dear," Alastor says, appearing next to Cherri.

He then grabs her hand and says, "Alstor, it's nice to meet you. Quite a pleasure, sweet heart."

"Alright. First off, don't go calling me sweetheart. Second: What in hell are you doing here?" Cherri sternly says.

Charlie quickly says, "Don't worry Cherri, Alastor is actually helping me with the hotel. As long as he doesn't do any of his VooDoo magic and whatnot."

"Are you shittin' me?" Cherri asks with a straight face.

"She's not. Alastor agrees to help as long as he stays out of trouble," Phoenix says, turning to Alastor.

"Me? Get into trouble? Wouldn't dream of it. Ha ha ha!" Alastor says with laughter.

Phoenix thinks, "Why do I get the feeling that he would get himself into trouble."

Meanwhile, outside of the hotel, Larry is watching the group from the window and is holding a cellphone in his hand.

Larry says, "Yes boss. Phoenix Magne is in the hotel right now. But the Radio Demon and the Dog Demon, Cloud and his appearances are in the hotel. Not to mention Princess Charlie and Cherri Bomb."

"Hmm, quite an interesting development. I figure Satan would bring his second in command to train her. Along with his appearances," The master says.

"But um, how are you supposed to get her with those powerful demons around?" Larry asks.

"I'm sure we can come up with a way. For now…" The demon says.

Suddenly, red glowing eyes and a white mask appears from behind.

The demon turns his head towards the creature, "It will be a good idea to test the girl's power and strength. I'm very intrigued since that new transformation she experienced."

"I must agree. It was quite a sight," Larry says.

The master says, "Remember to remain hidden when my Dark Sombra arrives to test the girl's skill."

"Of course," Larry says.

Larry then hurries away from the scene, knowing the shadow will be coming soon. In the hotel, things are actually remaining calm. Well, as calm as they can get.

Vaggie asks with firmly staring at Cherri, "You're not here to cause any trouble are you?"

"Uh no. I'm just here to hang out with Angie, and it looks like I get to hang out with Phoenix and the others," Cherri says.

"Well, you better not get into any trouble. We already have enough problems in this hotel," Vaggie says.

Cherri whispers to Angel, "What got her hair in a knot?"

Phoenix walks over and asks, "Remember the Turf War we ended up in and that we were attacked by the Shadow creatures?"

"Yeah?" Cherri says, confused.

Angel nervously laughs and says, "It was on the news when Charlie was doing her interview about the Rehabilitation Hotel here. It didn't go so well."

"Oh. Well, they problem didn't have it as bad as we didn't when we were attacked by those Shadow monsters," Cherri says.

"I think we all had it rough," Vaggie says.

"Especially when Sir Edgelord tried to kidnap Phoenix, twice!" Angel says.

"What?!" Cherri exclaims, shocked.

"It's true," Vaggie says.

"We found out that the stupid snake somehow broke into the hotel and somehow survived Alastor's wrath. Alastor ended up throwing him out, so we won't be seeing him anytime soon," Conan says.

"Holy shit," Cherri comments.

"Yeah. I think he's still mad at the fact that I blasted him with my powers and well, wants to use me for whatever plan he has," Phoenix says.

"Wouldn't put it past him," Cherri says, rolling her eyes.

Charlie asks with glee, "So Cherri, do you want us to get you something? Maybe a drink or snacks?"

"Sure. I would use a drink," Cherri says.

Phoenix says, "I could go for a soda right about now."

"Hey get me one too," Cherri says.

Suddenly, they hear glass shattering and quickly turn their heads to see a shadow creature around Alastor's heights and has the same mask as those monsters.

Phoenix says, "But looks like I need to take care of that Dark Sombra first."

Phoenix lifts her hand with her bracelet and once again, it begins to glow.

Phoenix's body begins to glow red. Then coming out of her right hand is burning fire. She raises her hand in the air and controls the fire to fly around like a large, long ribbon. The fire then begins to coil around her upper body, her arms, and legs. The flames on her upper body transform into a red sleeveless kimono top up to her knees with a black emon and lace. It has a silhouette of a flaming bird on the left side and fire on the right side. Then a bright orange ribbon wraps around her waist and forms an obi ribbon on the back, a gold string buckle appears around the ribbon, and black tights that also cover her ankles.

And then, fire patterned gloves appear on Phoenix's arms that go up to her elbows. Instead of covering the hands, they only cover the backhands and have a band attached that is around the middle finger. The flames around her legs transform into orange ballet flats. The yellow ribbons are wrapped around red leg warmers.

After that, her small gold crown with a pentagram gem appears over her head. She puts it on and her hair begins to glow red. A black choker with a phoenix feather appears on her neck, a red star earring appears on her left ear while a black crescent moon earring appears on her right ears. Then her hair becomes covered in fire. And soon, her hair turns into a glowing color of flames and slightly moves.

Phoenix then lands on the ground, and enchanting wings of a fire bird appear on her back. The feathers of the wings are the colors of fire. She then opens her eyes, her sclera are red with gold yellow pupils in the middle. At a split second, fire flashes in her eyes. Lastly, a red lined pentagram a black crescent moon having two circles and symbols around it appear on her forehead.

Phoenix announces as she moves her hands around, "A Courageous and Majestic Bird that Soars through the Flames of Hell!"

Then fire appears from her hands.

Phoenix spins around in a circle, and announces, "Blazing Phoenix!"

She then finishes with a pose. Her left knee is bent while her right leg is in a forty degree angle. She has her right hand with the palm down across her body while her left arm is presented forward with the palm facing front.

Phoenix is soon transformed and brings out her sword as the dark Sombra ends up bringing out a medieval sword.

"Phoenix be careful," Charlie calls out.

"I'll be fine, just focus on getting everyone out of here. I'll handle this," Phoenix says.

Angel turns to Charlie, "Besides, you know that she took care of a giant one before."

"And it will be a good opportunity for her to train a bit with powers," Cloud says.

Charlie turns to the scene where Phoenix has her sword out. The same goes with the shadow. The Dark Sombra then charges towards Phoenix. Phoenix does the same. Both the Sombra and Phoenix clash their word together and press the swords together. Phoenix then jumps back and then zips forward to try to attack, but the Dark Sombra repels the attack with his sword. The Dark Sombra pushes back with his fist and prepares to slash her with the sword. Phoenix dodges the attack and jumps in the air. She then swings her sword, but the Sombra repels it with its own. The Sombra then pushes Phoenix back and lands on her back to the floor.

"That has to hurt," Charlie says.

"She's tough," Cherri says.

Phoenix looks to see the Dark Sombra diving towards her, but Phoenix dodges and kicks the Dark Sombra in the head. Cloud and the others watch as Phoenix fights against the Dark Sombra with full force. Phoenix is able to use her wings to fly in the air and dive in to give the Sombra a hard kick in the face.

Alastor says in reply, "Hmmm, that Dark Sombra is rather interesting, especially with that interesting sword."

"I suppose, but Phoniex is very good, and yet, the demon is looking rather strong," Charlie says.

"You worry too much, princess. Your cousin is young to trash that shadow," Angel says.

"Angel!" Vaggie angrily scolds, covering Angel's mouth.

Cherri becomes confused, "Wait, cousin?"

Then Cherri turns to Charlie, "She's your cousin?"

Charlie nervously answers, "Well… I… uh… well… you see…"

Suddenly Alastor says, "Why yes. Yes she is."

"Alastor!" Charlie, Conan, and Grace angrily scolds.

"What? She asked," Alastor says.

"So she's related to you, but she looks too human. Then again, you don't look demon yourself," Cherri replies.

Charlie and the others look at each other in concern, except for Alastor, Niffty, and Husk who are still watching the fight.

Charlie sighs and confesses, "Yes. Phoenix is my cousin. In fact, her real name is Phoenix Jeno Magnue and the daughter of Satan Magne, my Uncle."

"Wait wait wait. Satan Magne? As in Lord Satan Magne? Your uncle, captain of your father's guards and also in charge of making sure the Overlords stay in check," Cherri asks.

"That's him," Vaggie says.

"Woah. no wonder she's fuckin strong and now that I think of it… she actually look like him," Cherri says, looking at Phoniex fight.

"Yeah. It actually caught me off guard as well, but she's still a cool kid to hang around with," Angel says.

"Man, I like the kid before, but after hearing about that, I like her even more," Cherri says.

"Alright guys, we get it," Vaggie says.

Charlie then says, "Yes. My father is trying to find a way to announce it. Until then, you have to promise not to tell anyone. If anyone finds out who Phoenix really is other than a hybrid, who knows what they'll do."

"Don't worry princess, my lips are sealed. I may be a spunky powerhouse, but I always got my friends back, especially Angie's," Cherri says.

"And I also got yours," Angel says.

Suddenly, they hear a loud crashing sound and turn to the fight to see Phoenix has been slammed onto the table by the Sombra. The Sombra is standing over her and about to stab her with the sword. Luckily, Phonies dodge and the sword ends up stabbing the table. Phoenix then uses the opportunity to kick the demon off of her and charge at it while using her sword to give it scratches. With the final blow, Phoenix slices the mask in half with her sword and the Sombra disappears into thin air and a black pearl has fallen to the floor.

Curious Phoenix picks up the black pearl and suddenly, it changes to a crimson red color.

She thinks, "Another pearl, but this one is red."

Suddenly Charlie runs up to her and hugs her, "Phoenix, are you okay? Are you hurt?"

"No. I'm fine. Just got a bit of a scuffle is all," Phoenix says with a smile.

"Glad to see you're okay. You kind of have me worried there," Charlie says.

Conan says, "Still, you were awesome."

"Yeah. That was a close one," Grace says.

Cherri gives Phoenix a fist bump on her arm, "Watever, you totally kick some ass!"

"Yeah. You were fuckin' amazing," Angel says.

Phoenix smiles and says, "Thanks."

Sometime later, after spending some time together, Cherri is heading back to her apartment.

"Thanks for letting me hang out with you guys. Hope we get to hang around sometime," Cherri says.

"Yeah. I'm sure we'll like it too," Phoenix says.

"And hope you can livin' up to this place," Angel says.

Charlie then asks, "Are you sure you don't wanna stay? I'm sure you can join us with Rehabilitation."

"Nah. You can't keep this girl tied down. I always like to leave with a bang," Cherri says.

"Just make sure you don't do that with the hotel," Vaggie sternly says.

"Amway. See you bitches another time," Cherri says.

"Bye Cherri," Phoenix says.

"See you around," Angel says.

Cherri Bomb then leaves the hotel to head back home for the night.

A few days later on a dark and rainy night, Phoenix is in the kitchen making herself some hot tea. When she sees the water boiling, she turns off the stove, takes the pot by the handle, and pours it into a mug. Then places a tea bag in it.

Phoenix says, "I think a nice hot drink will be good for this weather."

Phoenix then takes the tea bag out, once the tea is mixed in and puts a little sugar in it. She mixes the tea with a spoon and drinks her tea. Suddenly, she hears a knocking on the door.

Confused, Phoenix wonders, "Who could have come this late at night?"

Phoenix walks to the lobby and hears the front door knocking again. Phoenix then opens the door and to her surprise, she sees a demon at the door.

The demon has the appearance of an owl and it's a girl. She is lanky and unkempt with a coat of gray feathers, a pink stripe around her neck with a white stripe in the center, pink eyes with bright pupils, while below the eyes are three tear-like streaks, a white mask-like face and light pupils, shaggy, scruffy hair feathers with yellow at the end, giving them an ombre. She wears a pink glittery dress, a dark feather shawl around her shoulders, pink arm warmers with stars on them, and a pale tiara along with a black beanie hat.

"Um hello," Phoenix calmly says.

Is this the Happy Hotel? And is Charlie here?" The Owl demon asks.

"Um yes. This is the Happy Hotel and Charlie is here. But um, I'm afraid she and everyone else in the hotel are asleep. But you're happy to come in," Phoenix says.

"Okay," the Owl demon girl says, and walks inside.

Phoenix closes the door and asks, "So um… what's your name?"

"Octavia. My name is Octavia," The Owl Demon girl answers.
