Thumper, Bambi and Ronno continued their walk through the forest until a loud flash of lightning and sound of thunder made them stop in their tracks, eyes wide.
''I think I'd better go home now-'' Thumper said before quickly running off, leaving the two princes alone.
Ronno stared after him and then up at the sky. Bambi took a few steps forward before another loud crack of thunder startled them both, Ronno running away as fast as he could, Bambi jumping into the air out of surprise before following him.
They joined their mother in the cave as it slowly began to rain. Bambi lied down alongside her and yawned while Ronno glanced up at the sky before lying down as well.
Raindrops started falling on the leaves and to the ground, catching Bambi's attention. It seemed as if the rain was trying to create music.
Ronno raised his head and looked around, becoming engrossed quickly as the raindrops fell from one leaf to another and a small current washed away a few leaves that had fallen into it.
Soon enough, they found themselves getting tired.
Ronno lied his head down and closed his eyes, awaiting sleep. Bambi took one last glance at his surroundings and then lied his head down as well.
It had barely been 10 seconds before a flash of lightning striked, accompanied by thunder. Both fawns flinched, raising their heads. Ronno crept closer to his mother, glancing at the sky above. Bambi got up, looking around fearfully. Another combination of thunder and lightning made him flinch before burying his face into his mother's and brother's fur. He glanced at the sky again as the flashes and cracks kept coming.
Their mother nuzzled Bambi gently to comfort him, Bambi flinching when it happened again, trying to bury his face into her fur as much as possible. Ronno flinched as well and pressed his head against his mother's leg, closing his eyes.
The rain kept on pouring down, lightning striking madly and it seemed like it won't stop anytime soon.
But a few minutes later, the rain slowly stopped and disappeared for good, as well as the thunder and lightning. Ronno and Bambi had finally fallen asleep during it, snuggled close to her. She licked both of their heads gently before lying her head down as well.
''Mother, what we gonna do today?'' Bambi asked the next morning as they were taking a walk.
''I'm going to take you both to the meadow.'' She replied.
''Meadow?'' Ronno questioned before running to keep up with them.
''What's the meadow?'' Bambi inquired, curious.
''It's a very wonderful place.'' Their mother replied as the twins looked around the forest.
''Then why haven't we been there before?'' Ronno piped up.
''You weren't big enough.'' She said.
''Hey mother! You know what?'' Ronno asked, leaping to her side.
''What?''
''We aren't the only deer in the forest.''
''Where did you hear that?'' She questioned.
''Thumper told us.'' Bambi replied as he and Ronno followed her.
''Well, he's right. There are many deer in the forest, beside us.''
''Then why don't we ever see them?'' Bambi asked.
''You will, sometime.'' She said, looking ahead.
They were really close to the meadow now.
''On the meadow?'' Ronno inquired, curiously.
''Perhaps. Hush now.'' She stopped, looking around, Bambi and Ronno stopping as well.
''We're almost there.''
