A/N: so I decided I am going to do shorter chapters and publish more often because I'm so impatient lol. I hope you guys are having and amazing Christmas.

She spent the next few nights contemplating what to do, what had happened. She couldn't be an airbender, she was a firebending prodigy. Unless…. No! She could be! The avatar was dead. Gone for good. That's what her father said, so it had to be true. Right? These were the questions that kept her up, the things that she could confide in no one. If there was even a chance she may have been the…. If they found out surely she would be disgraced. She would be worse than Zuko. Perhaps her father would disown her. That is why for the next two years she told no one. She decided she would just live as normal of a life as was possible for her. She would practice hervfirebending forms and nothing else. That all changed when her brother was banished.

It was the night after he had left with her dear old uncle, and she should have been happy. She should have felt free. She was now the crown princess of the Fire Nation. But, when she saw her father burn her brother, something happened. She found it quite amusing, yes. And she laughed at poor Zuzu. But some part of her didn't enjoy it at all. This concerned her. She always took pleasure in other's suffering. The fact that part of her hadn't scared her. She decided she couldn't keep it a secret any longer. She had to tell someone, only she didn't know who. Who would possibly understand what was happening to her without telling anyone.

Her manicured nails dug into her palms as she walked down the dark hallways of the palace. It was late at night and most of the staff was asleep. Those who did see her didn't approach her. She didn't mind it, but she did mind the glances of pity she was given. It was as if they thought she was to be the next burned by her father. And, if he found out that would be true.

The palace was filled with secret passageways, all of which she knew. She had spent countless hour wondering the halls exploring the secrets. The Old Firelords had always been paranoid, and she used this to her advantage. There was a specific passageway she was using tonight. It led from the palace all the way to the outer ring of the city, right by the wall of the Caldra. From there she would go to her friends house and —

Her thoughts where interrupted by the sound of boots on the floor. She listened intently as the footsteps drew nearer, daring not to turn around. She knew no servant would dare aproach her, and all the noblemen had left the palace. This left one person, the only person she truly didn't want to see right now.

"Azula," his voice called her angrily, forcing her to turn around. "What are you doing wandering the palace this late."

She tried not to roll her eyes. I could ask you the same thing, she was about to say. However, she knew well enough not to. Instead she wore her giddy smile and staired up into her fathers eye. "Just enjoying the lack of a certain someone." Azula smiled at him.

His lips curled up into a smile and he laughed deeply. "Yes now that the weeklong is out of our palace we will once again be strong. Not to mention he took my brother with him." Ozia smiled at his daughter.

"The deserve each other," Azula said laughing. Truly they did. The coward and the weakling. Who knew? Maybe they could find a nice farm in the earth kingdom and settle down. Maybe they could even find her mother and then they would be one happy family. The thought angered Azula, though she knew not why. She decided to push it from her mind.

"Yes," her father smiled at her cruelness. "In light of the previous events, I have come to realize something." Her father now knelt down so he was level with her. "Just like my brother, yours was unfit to rule such a mighty nation." Azula smiler, knowing what would come next. He grabbed her chin so she was staring directly into his eyes. "I Firelord Ozia give you the honor of being the Fire nations crown princess." She gasped. Though she knew this would happen it still made her heart flutter. She was officially crown princess, soon to be Firelord. "It's only beditting that one as powerful as yourself be the first to bear this title." He gave her the pin that was to be worn by the fire lord to be. It was true, she thought. If there was going to be a first crown princess it may as well be her. It was at this moment that she contemplated telling her father. Maybe he wouldn't be angered, perhaps he could help her. Maybe she could even help him.

He's manipulating you, a voice she had never heard before told her. And, strangely she listened. She smiled at him taking the pin and then yawned. "You honor me father, truly. But I am afraid I must retire for the night." He nodded and left her without any other words.

Once his footsteps had retreated she quickly approached the painting. The beautiful painting of a dragon abs cured the passage from view. She moved it aside and examined the door. Placing her hand on the gem she began to heat it up. This door could only be unlocked by a firebender, but lucky for her she was top notch. The door slid open and she climbed into the chamber, carefully placing the painting back.

As soon as the door closed she was engulfed in blackness. As a fire bender she did not like night, and the darkness only reminded her of it. However, the room was not dark for long, and soon glowing with the blue light of her flame.

She made her way down the passageway, and reached the end in no more than 1 hour. When she did, she was glad to excite the tunnel into fresh air. She took a deep breath. After being trapped in the tunnel the air gave her a sense of freedom. Smiling ear to ear she made her way to Tylee's house. When she reached the door she knocked, and was greeted by Tylee's grandma.

"Azula sweaty what are you doing outside of the palace so late?" The old hag asked her. Azula rolled her eyes, she truly hated Tylee's grandma. She was too sweet, it was strange. However, Azula could use this.

She became a cold and scared child, clutching herself tightly. "I'm sorry, I'm just scared." She lied.

The women ushered Aula in. "So it's true?" She asked the child. Azula nodded, shaking and sobbing. "There there child." The old woman said as she hugged Azula closely. Azula didn't like to be pitied, but it would serve her purpose.

"Please don't tell my father." Azula sobbed. While most nobles would jump at the opportunity to spread news of what had happened in the palace, Tylee's grandma wouldn't. There was something different about the old women. Though she hated to admit it, this had always fascinated Azula.

The women assured Azula she would not and led her to the dining room of the estate. It was much smaller than Azula was accustomed to, with a table that only seated eight. Azula assumed that the bigger chair was for the grandma while the others were for Tylee's sisters. After the women had spent way too long reassuring Azula she would be alright, Azula finally asked for Tylee. The women of course agreed, and she was led to her friends room. The women quickly left, leaving Azula with the sleeping girl.

No older than Azula, the girl layed stretched out on the bed. For being so small she took up alot of space. And, she was not a graceful sleeper. Her limbs hung all over the place and you could hear the soft whimpers escaping her mouth. Any other person would have felt bad waking her, but Azula didn't.

She ran over to the girls side and began shaking her ferociously. She didn't have much time before she needed to head back to the palace, and it was a much harder task than getting out. Azula could not return through the passage as they were only one way, so she would had to sneak past the guard. She knew she could do it, for she had memorised every shift change and blind spot. But this didn't change the fact that she had very little time.

Azula was drawn out of her thoughts as the girl began to stir. Encouraged by this, Azula tugged at the sheets. The girl whimpered and grasped onto them, but Azula was stronger. With a thud the girl fell to the floor. Azula rolled her eyes, not feeling bad for her one bit.

"Owwie," the girl said as she pulled herself to a sitting position. She was still half asleep, but Azula could not help noticing how beautiful she was. Of course, she wasn't as beautiful as Azulla, but she was close. Her hair, which was normally in a tight braid, hung loose to her back. Her lips, normally stretched in an unnatural smile, hung slightly open as she stared dazed at Azula.

"A--Azula," the girl said, rubbing her eyes and yawning.

"Yes it's me Tylee," Azula said rolling her eyes. "Now wake up, I have something important to discuss with you."

The girl yawned, but seemed more awake than she had been previously. "Is it about what happened to Zuko?" the girl asked, rubbing the sleep from her eyes.

"No, it's not about what happened to dear Zuzu," she rolled her eyes again. Why would anyone actually care, as Ozia said, her brother was a disgrace. The fact that he was no longer fire nation and still.had people pitying him marveled her. But then he always did have that effect on people. "It's about his more important sister," she finished.

Confused Tylee tilted her head slightly. "What about her?" Azula mentally facepalmed, she should have told Mai.

"Look Tylee what I'm about to tell you is very important and you must not tell anyone." Azula said to her friend. Scared of the tone she was using, Tylee nodded.

"Of course Azula," she said smiling.

Azula had thought about giving some long winded explanation of explaining how she loved her nation and would never betray it, but the three words that came out conveyed the opposite. "I'm the Avatar."

Guys I just realized it was like 5 am when I wrote this. Also sorry for any typos, my nails make it difficult.
