BOOK TWO: WATER
CHAPTER ELEVEN: TRUST PART 2
……………...
Destiny is a stream that we are all trapped in. It pulls us closer to some and pushes us away from others. However, in the end we will all reach the sea.
………………
Azula's eyes opened slowly. Strange, she thought to herself, she hadn't even realized they were closed. But, they were open now. She was sure of it. So why was everything so dark? Not black, just dark. She was surrounded in fog. And, this time, it wasn't of her own creation. No, it wasn't a shield to protect her from the outside, it was a cage to keep her in.
The fog felt heavy, as if it was weighing her down. Her clothes stuck to her form as she proceeded to walk around in the darkness. She could feel her feet on the ground and could move them. She was able to move freely, nothing holding her back. So, why did she feel so trapped? Why did everything feel so hopeless, as if this great fog was weighing on her soul.
She attributed this feeling to the fact that unlike other times, she wasn't in control. The fog didn't disappear with her willing it so hard to. She felt as if she was the foreing thing here, not the fog.
Azula closed her eyes, focusing on the prickles of water as they touched her skin. She felt the way they formed the mist surrounding her. She inhaled a deep breath, sentering her chi at the base of her spin. Slowly, she began moving her arms in a familiar waterbending form. One she herself had created in the desert. She used it to pull at the water in the air, and it had always worked before.
Only this time, it didn't. Azula opened her eyes, panic setting in. She tried again and again, but nothing changed. She thrust her palms forward, trying to push the fog away with the air. But, the air didn't move, and neither did the fog.
Fear took over the girl's form as she experimentally focused fire in her palm. Only, fire didn't appear. Azula couldn't bend.
…………..
Vaatu loomed over Aang, the monk staring fearfully into the eyes of the spirit. He had heard ancient tales about Vaatu. He was the spirit of discord and chaos, everything the air nomads stood against. But, ten thousand years ago the first avatar had defeated him, destroyed him, so how was he here now, and more importantly, why?
No one knew how to break the silence. The room was filled with fear, an energy so thick you could slice it with a knife. Only, they were scared to. For they didn't know what came after the silence. Unsurprisingly, it was the scoffing voice of Sokka who spoke first.
"Look angry, Azula spirit thing, you've got the wrong kid." He said as he sat down comfortably on the floor, seemingly unbothered. "That's Aang, the Avatar. But I'm sure you'll find whoever this Raava dude is." He shrugged, walking over to Aang and crossing an arm around him protectively.
Vaatu corked one of Azula's eyebrows. Surely these children weren't that foolish. He would know, wouldn't he? No, of course he wouldn't. Raava was always stingy with her secrets, even to her lives it seemed. Vaatu burst into a toe curling laughter.
Toph became angry and stood up on her wobbly feet. "I swear to god if you don't tell us why your laughing -"
The blind earthbender was interrupted by the aged voice of iroh. "Aang is Raava."
Everyone but the spirit turned to face a grave faced Iroh, fear written all over his features. Fear because his niece, who he was never truly fond of, was looming over the small scared boy. And, he knew how this was going to end, badly.
"Ahh, I see one of you is wise enough to know the story. Ten thousand years ago, Raava merged with the first avatar and defeated me. However, a hundred years ago she split herself in half, allowing me the power to grow in this angry, fearful child." Vaatu lifted Aang's face and studied his fearful eyes. "But strong nonetheless for…" the spirit paused, his hands falling from the young Avatar's chin.
Vaatu slowly turned to face Zuko, the scared prince staring up at him in terror. He scoffed, this boy was filled with visible weakness. At least Azula hid it. But her brother, he was simply pathetic. The way his golden eyes widened with terror. The shake of his hands as his nails bit into his palms (must be a family thing). The tears, actual tears that streamed down his face. And his father only burned him once, he only had a surface scare where Azulas ran much deeper.
Though the spirit would not admit it, he was perplexed by the girl. She had multiple chances to end him but didn't. Even after the pain she had suffered because of him. That took more than power, that took strength. No matter, if she couldn't do it he would. Zuko was an obstacle in her path and Vaatu would remove him for her. "Your sister is much stronger than you, prince Zuko. rest in knowing that we will take care of your nation." With that, crimson red flames engulfed her hand as she pulled it back to take her aim. And, with the exhale of breath, the red flames rushed towards the young prince. However, they never hit their mark.
Instead, they were intercepted by an even stronger stream of fire. Orange flames rushed into the red ones, forming a color akin to the sky streaked my sunset. Being ripped away from the element startled Vaatu, as he was unused to using the elements like the humans. But, being as old as the universe itself, he would manage. No pesky humans could stop him.
Anger redirected at the fat uncle, Vaatu sent a gust or air his way, assuming it would knock him off his feet. However, he must have been heavier than he looked (which was surprising), because the old man managed to block it with a shield of fire and stand his ground. The spirit seethed with anger and readied another strike, however Vaatu was knocked over by a gust of wind from behind. He couldn't see or breath, a feeling un akin to anything he had ever experienced fell over him. Pain. he had never felt it, for, he was but a spirit. But now, in the princesses body, he felt what she felt. The pain as he hit the ground, the wind being knocked out of him. And the fear as the blackness took over his vision.
Had it been Azula, she wouldn't have passed out. She would have got back up and defeated everyone who betrayed her. However, though it was her body, it wasn't her spirit. The one possessing her did not have the will of strength the fourteen year old girl did. Instead, he found himself fleeing her body, the mortality too much for him to experience. He gave into the blackness.
………….
Azula was huddled on the ground, crying. Or, at least that's what she thought her name was, she could no longer remember. That, along with her very being had left her. Trapped in this fog, her soul lost. The screams of the other lost souls filled her senses and drove her to the point of insanity. Well, that would be implying she was sane, which she wasn't. She was broken, a shattered mirror on a blood covered floor. Though she knew not how she had shattered, she knew she was. You don't need to remember how you broke to be broken.
Her tears silently fell to the soggy floor, forming pools of water barely visible through the fog. She felt so hopelessly and utterly alone. Had it always been this way, she couldn't remember, but something told her it had. She found herself constantly looking around, eyes darting from side to side. It was dark, and the darkness scared her. She feared one of the howling souls would find her and destroy her. Although, she didn't know whether that would be worse than this. She found her mind becoming lost in a fog, much like the one that trapped her soul. However, it didn't stay that way.
She saw a light, dimmed through the infinite wall of fog. The light was orange, and seemed to flicker in and out like the flame of a candle. "Fire," she mumbled under her breath, the word so familiar. For, one of the few things she remembered was fire. Fire meant warmth and light. And so, she found herself rising from the ground, trying her best to whip the mud off her back.
She found herself walking through the vast expanse of unknown territory, heading through the fog to the flame. She did not know how far away the flame was, but it didn't matter. It could take a day or a year, either way, her destination would be the same.
It was a day later and she was still walking, her feet dragging on the ground. Her clothes clung tightly to her skin with fog and sweat. But, it didn't matter. Every time she inhaled her lungs filled with the thick, humid air. But, she didn't mind. Her feet were blistered and her legs ached. But, she wouldn't rest. No, she had a destination and would not stop until she made it.
As she drew closer to the flame, she realized it was not just flickering, but changing. The form or it was changing, lighting different patterns in the dark world she was trapped in. she smiled at the thought, it was so beautiful, the way it moved. It was like something she had seen before and couldn't seem to remember. However, she found herself drawn to it.
After two days of continuous walking, the fog stopped. Not entirely though, it seemed she had reached a clearing. It was as if the fire repelled the fog. Slowly and hesitantly she stepped through the curtain and into the vast open space. It was beautiful.
Truly, it wasn't, but after days of walking in this horrible fog, it was a sight. The ground was rocky and jagad, and in front of her seemed to be a makeshift tent. But, it wasn't the most fascinating. No, what fascinated her the most was the man who was moving and shifting the flames. Firebending, she remembered as if the fog on her mind had cleared.
She moved closer towards the figure, careful not to make herself known. However, just beijing her luck, she stepped on a twig. Where the twig came from, she didn't know. But, of course, she had stepped on the one twig it the whole freaking world.
The figure who was firebending abruptly stopped, turning themselves to see who it was that was approaching. However, as the figure faced her, the fire illuminating his face, she knew exactly who it was.
"Zhao."
……………
Katara sat beside Azula's motionless body, her hands encased in water as she circulated the girls fading chi. The four girls had been separated into different rooms, Mai and Ty Lee were together while Katara was with Azula so she could focus on healing her. However, so far she wasn't making any progress.
Azula still hadn't woken up, and it had been two days. Katara had been working on her tirelessly with her limited healing water she was allowed, as well as the water they had been given to drink. Her throat was dry and horse from crying, however still she would accept none of the water for herself. She only ate when she needed to and didn't dare sleep. Not until Azula woke up, a prospect that became less likely with each day.
Katara could feel Azula's spirit slipping away, away into whatever prison she was trapped in. if the waterbender didn't find a way to say her fast, the girl would be a husk, a body without a spirit. Katara bit her lip as she concentrated hard on her friend, a trickle of blood drifting into her mouth. Blood, that was it.
Katara knew what she had to do. She didn't have enough healing water to keep Azula alive, but she had blood. Blood that was pumping through the girls veins even as she was unconscious. Blood that had a stronger connected to her spirit that water ever did. Because, it was her blood, her chi. Katara dropped the water back in the canteen and placed her hands on Azulas heart, feeling the blood pump through her veins. She felt the rhythm, weaker than should be but steady nonetheless.
Closing her eyes, she focused on the pool of chi, moving her way up her spin and to the place that seemed to be the problem, her seventh chakra. It wasn't blocked, it was gone. Which, truly didn't make any sense. Because, everyone had the chakra. Only, it was like something was ripping the girl's soul from her body.
And so, Katara focused on bringing her back in. she pulled on what little remained of the chakra, hoping that maybe her friend would wake up.
--
Toph scoffed and threw her hands up in the air. "Really? You think we should execute them?" she asked, staring at Iroh in disgust. No wonder Azula had tried to kill him, he couldn't care less about her.
Iroh sighed as he looked at the blind girl. Though she wouldn't care to admit it, he could tell the earthbender had developed feelings for the girls. Azula had a way of doing that. Much like her father, she could cause herself to appear as human. But under the porcelain skin and innocent smile hid a monster. And after seeing the power she had, Iroh couldn't let her remain alive. Even though he still cared for her deeply, he had a greater duty to the world.
"Vaatu is dangerous, if he somehow has a hold in Azula, we need to eliminate him." Iroh said, turning to the avatar, who was evidently making this decision. He knew it would be hard for Aang because he was raised as a monk, however he knew the boy would make the right decision.
"What I don't understand," Long Feng said, stroking his goate contemplating, "is how this demonic spirit came to posses the firelord's child." he paused before continuing,"and how the hell is she so powerful?"
Aang sighed, realizing that it was time he told the truth to log feng. After all, he did run the city and the military in the name of the earth king, he needed to know. "Azula's the avatar." Ang said, wincing as the words left his mouth. Because, they were true. He was just some fluke, right?"
Long fengs mouth opened in astonishment. How, no the airbender was the avatar, it was impossible that. "How can this be the case if you are the avatar?" He asked the young boy, truly confused by the change in events.
Aang looked to Iroh to explain, as he really didn't understand it himself. And, i mean he was the avatar kinda sorta…
Iroh sighed as he thought of a way to explain this that would be kind to the young monk. He knew Aang had been through a lot with the betrayal of the waterbender and didn't want to upset him more. "You see," he began addressing the room. "The avatar is a person as much as a spirit. Ten Thousand years ago the spirit of light, Raava, merged with the Wan, the first to master all four elements, to defeat Vaatu, the great spirit of darkness. This created the first avatar, the next one being born into the air and so on…" Iroh recounted the tale of the first avatar, pausing to allow time for the information to seep in. He handing truly explained it to them yet, as he himself didn't understand it. However, he would try his best. He continued to explain the history behind her mimic conversions and the separation of Vaatu from Raava. After the first avatar had defeated
Long Feng nodded, part of his rise to power engulfed a trip to Wan She Tons library, were he had uncovered the long lost origin of the avatar. Only, it had mentioned nothing of the dark spirit Vaatu. Perhaps something had happened to the pages or the were hidden. A mystery he would be sure to solve later. However, say this version the old man was telling him was true. The demon spirit was dead, Raava had defeated him. So, how was he a problem now?
"You see, though Vaatu was defeated, he was not fine for good," Iroh. "you see, there connot be light without darkness. And, with the 100 year war, Vaatu had alot of negative energ to grow on. However, he wasn't able to break free from Raava until she split herself from Aang." Iroh continued, proceeding to explain just how Aang had serviced. And, how they were both in fact the avatar.
"So, you mean to tell me that The daughter of the firelord is the Avatar? Is the Avatar not supposed to fight for balance. How can we claim she did anything but when it is in her nature?" Long Feng asked, understanding she was fire nation but also understanding that she was the avatar. With the boy alone they could not win the war, but with the the princess as well they stood a chance. Not that he trusted her. No, he had better ways on convincing her to join there side.
"She's corrupted by the great spirit of Vaatu, to trust her would be foolish as would to let her live." Iroh sighed. His niece was evil but did not deserve the fate she had been born into.
The argument seemed to go on. However, Aang wasn't paying attention. He was already positive that he wouldn't kill Azula. At first, he wasn't sure. It had been a question that kept him up hours on end thinking. If she truly was merged with the great spirit of darkness they had to end her. But, it was against his nature. And, furthermore, she wasn't evil. She had saved Sokka. Aang tried to contact the previous Avatars, however, for reasons unbeknownst to him, he was unable to. And so, he hadn't been able to find a answere to his question. Funny enough, it was Zuko who had convinced him not to. He had said something about Azula being to Callie able to die. Only, he hadn't meant to them. He had meant to Ozia.
And so, Aang was contemplating how exactly to use her to end the war. He had to make a deal that stopped the violence, however he also had to make the firelord happy. For if he wasn't who was to say years later they didn't go back to war. No, a hundred years of war couldn't leave the firenation with nothing, it would cause major resentment towards it's government. An idea came to him. Aang knew how everyone could win.
"I have an idea," he said confidently. And soon, he was explaining just what they would trade Azula for. It was the closest thing to peace they would get. The firenation would keep the lands it conquered to the west of Ba Sing Se as well as more farm land, while all the other lands would return to there original government. The earth kingdom citizens who occupied these lands would be allowed to escape to Ba sing se and the firenation would release Omashu . It made sense, the firenation would gain land whilst not gaining political and military strength in the earth kingdom. And, the firelord would get his daughter and heir back.
Long Feng thought long (yes I just did that, I'm so sorry) and hard on this. To do this would mean the earthkigdim losing land. However, nothing truly mattered for him outside of Ba Sing Se, and, with the war over he would be able to get more resources as well as take back the earthkigdim. So, yes, it was the plan that made the most sense. However, Azula was very powerful, so he was weary of giving the girl to her father. So, he agreed.
Once he convinced Iroh, it was decided. All that was left to do was to send a message to the firelord. He had been reported heading west towards the rocky islands, his fleet coming to conquer Ba sing se and save his daughter. Luckily for everyone, this was very close and they would be able to meet in two days' time. And, if all went well, soon the girl would be headed back to the fire nation with her father.
--
Azula shook her head, it was impossible. She had killed him. Burn him alive with flames hotter than the sun. And here he was, trapped with her in the spirit world. Not only that, but he was bending. She began walking backwards, with every step she took her mind became more clouded. She was on the edge, about to reamurse herself it the fog when the man bending his flames saw her.The minute his yellow eyes met her gold ones, she ran.
She didn't know what from, or even who this man was. But, she knew that she had to get away from him. Perhaps she couldn't remember who she was, but she remembered how she felt about him. Her legs already ached from the walk to… she couldn't remember what she had been walking to. Her feet where calloused and bleeding, but it didn't bother her. She kept running over the rock floor, slippery with fog. Every breath she took was excruciating, until unable to go on any longer she stopped.
Huh, that was weird, why was she so out of breath, she asked herself as she bent over exhausted. It almost felt as if she had been running. The way her lungs were fighting for air. The way her heart threatened to explode from her chest. The aching in her thighs, why in the name of Agni -
Her thoughts were cut off by a blast of flames coming towards her. To shocked to move, she braced herself to be hit by them. Only instead, they hit the ground in front of her, burning long enough for the fog to shrink around them.
It was as if the fog was a creature, fleeing the flames so as not to get burnt. Strangely, as the fog cleared, so did Azula's mind. The chains of her shackles being broken by the blast of fire. Remembering what was happening, she turned around, facing the admiral.
"How?" was all The princess could manage to ask. She was tired of running, running from your father, from the truth. She wasn't gonna run from Zhao. So, she faced him.
"Those flames you burnt me with weren't ordinary flames. You unleashed the rath of the spirits on me, and sent me to a most legendary prison. A prison you find yourself in as well. Why I wonder?" The admiral expertly flipped the question on her, cracking a sly grin.
Azula didn't see the point in keeping her predicament a secret. "A spirit hijacked my body and sent me here," she said, shrugging her shoulders in indifference. "I supposed it's to much to ask if you know a way out."
Zhaos cruel laughter filled the air, sending a shiver through the fog. "A spirit can only take over the body of a willing participant. And as for you way out, I know a way."
Azula looked at the admiral skeptically, assessing weather what he was saying was the truth or not. It seemed to be true, only it didn't make sense. "If you know a way out, why are you still here. "
He smiled, stepping closer to her. "Because it can only be done by the avatar." His breath was hot on her face as his sweaty hands grabbed her hair, twirling it around a calloused finger. "Let's say we make a deal."
Ty Lee chewed on her nails concernedly, something she hadn't done since she was a child. A child waiting for her friend to climb through her window covered in burns and bruises. It had been three days, three days and she hadnt heard news of Katara or Azula. She was growing crazy not knowing if her friend had woken up yet. And, worse was not knowing what would happen when she did.
Ty Lee tried to distract herself. She stretched, practiced her chi blocking on the wall, which hurt, and sang songs her nana used to sing to her. She tried her absolute best to pretend everything was fine, but she couldn't get the nervous feeling from her stomach. A feeling that told her something bad was going to happen. And so, her nails had become stubs, she lost her voice, and her friend was majorly annoyed.
Mai sat silently at the other side of the room, trying her damn hardest to figure out an escape plan. But, if was very difficult when her cellmate was either singing of punching the wall. However, finally, Ty Lee had quieted down enough for her to think.
Every cell had a way out, Azula had taught her that. The weakness in the firenation prisons was the metal around the hinges, on could easily cut through it if given the right material. And, the weakness in earth kingdom cells were the windows, an easy way to escape. However, there were no windows, and the hinges were not week. They were two nonbenders stuck in a cell made for the most powerful of benders, how in the world were they to escape.
And, perhaps it was here that Mai would have had the revelation she needed to escape. Perhaps she would have realized that because these cells were made for benders, they had an advantage. But, she wasn't given that time to think because suddenly the door to the cel was pushed open, and in walked a small, blind, earthbender.
"Hey circus freak," said the gruph voice of the child.
As soon as they heard it, two heads shot up, eyes staring at the earthbender in shock. Mai managed to recompose her nonchalant expression, however Ty Lee still stared at the girl, a mixture of shock and anger written in her delicate features.
"Chill pinky Pie, I'm here to tell you the good news. Aang convinced the council of five to let you go, as long as you leave the city you two should be fine." Toph sad as she bent the earth chains around the girls wrists to escort them from their cell.
Mai's mind found itself racing. What, why were they being let go. Aang seemed so adamant about how evil Azula was. I mean, he even neglected to listen to Roku and his other past lives. How could someone just change sides so suddenly. Unless….
"What about Azula?" Ty Lee asked, surprisingly coming to the conclusion before Mai had.
"She's going back to Papa sparky, being traded for a peace deal with the fire nation." Toph said as she began leading them from the cell, much like one would their dog. Toph thought the news she was delivering was good. She had been the one to push for the trade. But, as soon as the words left her mouth the girls stopped dead in their tracks.
Mai started laughing, her laugh worse than that of the evil spirit Vaatu. It was full of fear, scorn, and mocking. "And you believed that? How dumb are you?" she spat at the earthbender.
Toph was utterly taken back by the emotionless girls actions, and offended aswell. She had grown to like Mai in the time they spent together. But frankly, she was being a bitch.
"Now listen here ms. i couldn't care less. You should be grateful your friend isn't being hung for everyone to see. Because that's sure as hell what long feng wanted." Toph spat back, angered by the attitude she was geting.
"Oh we should be grateful. You sold her out Toph. Agni you knew she wasn't lying and you still send her back to her abusive rapist of a father. What kind of shit…" She began crying and whimpering into her hands. Her friend was being sent back to the man who abused her since she was a child. How could she have let this happen.
"What?" Toph demand after hearing the words Ty Lee didn't even realize she had said. After hearing the confession of what happened to Azula. Suddenly it all made sense. The scars, the fear, the anger. Her father had been worse to her than he had to Zuko, and now she was on a ship sailing right back to him. No, she may even be in his arms.
——————————
Zuko and Iroh stood on the deck of the war ship, one of a fleet of hundreds that had come to greet the single fire nation one. In between them, hung the unconscious body of the firenation princess, the light still glowing behind her closed lids. It was eary at first, but Zuko had grown accustomed to it.
So, when he stared at the body of his sister, he didn't see a monster, but a girl. A girl who had been used much like he had been. Someone who had been taught revel in the suffering of others. His baby sister. And here he was giver her back to the same man who had used her in such ways. He felt a pant of guilt simply handing her over. Only, he knew it was for good. This could stop the war in the earth kingdom, and perhaps they then could negotiate for peace.
He was drawing from his thoughts by the sound of the metal draw bridge coming down, connecting the two ships. The dia Lee agents beside them stiffened and adjusted there positions readying there earth weapons.
Slowly, Zuko looked up, see his father surrounded by a group of elite firebenders. He recognized one, the third eyes man. He had heard stories of the titan, the man who could blow things up with his mind. Only, he thought they were stories. However, seeing him there, he now knew the stories to be true. Perhaps the last part exacerbated because no one could blow stuff up with there minds.
However, the giant was nothing as terrifying as the man he was protecting. Ebony hair feel loos to his waist, a heavy firenation regally weighing him down. Sitting atop his head was the crown mad of gold, molded by the first fire. His eyes of the same gold burnt with a coolness. As if they were fire and ice at the same time. Slowly, he stepped across the draw bridge onto the enemy ship, leaving the guards behind him. It was intended as a sign of peacefulness. That he didn't come to fight. However, it made him all the more frightening.
Iroh looked to his nephew, telling him with his eyes to stay still, and lifted his unconsouse niece into his arms. Cradling the child he had failed as he brought her back to the brother he had betrayed. He looked down at her. Her eyes reflected his, in her he saw himself. And that's what made this harder. He knew she was lost to the darkness, but to give her away, to abandon her again. A single tear rolled down his cheak slowly.
—————————
Azula felt a droplet of water fall to her face, and struggled hard to open her eyes. Only, she couldn't. The exhaustion she felt was emobolizing, and, she feared that if she opened her eyes again, she would be back in the horrid fog. So instead, she kept them closed. Ears intently listening to the waves crashing against the hull of the ship. It registered in her mind she was on the sea, but her mind was still fogged enough that it didn't quite sealed her senses.
She felt herself being shifted from one holder to another, and felt a wamrth. A familiar, safe warmth. She found herself moving ever so slightly, curling into the warmth of the hands that held her. She felt them cling tighter in response, pulling her closer to the center of the warmth. The hands became iron around her, no longer armor to keep her safe but a cage to keep her trapped. She was confused at first, until she felt his breath tricking up her neck.
"Don't worry my little princess, daddy will protect you." He spoke and she felt the grin he must have been brandishing.
The small bit of peace she had shattered, and her eyes flushing open to see the face that haunted her every nightmare. She was overcome with a instinct so primal, so raw that it controlled her very body. The instinct to service.
She began flailing and clawing at her cage, desperate to free herself. "Let me go," she meant it to come as a yell, an order, but instead it came as a plea. The plea of a helpless girl. Only, her capture didn't care. Instead his grip tightened painfully, a hand coming around her throat to demobilize her.
"You ungrateful brat," he said as his grip tightening to the point of pain. Her vision began to blur as he continued. "You are coming with me child." He growled and tossed her over his shoulder as he began to walk away.
Zuko looked at the scene, utterly shocked and horrified. His sister was being abused before his very eyes. As his father flung her over his back, his eyes looked straight into hers. And, he saw the butter horror in them.
Without thinking, Zuko through a blade of flames at his father, who, turning around, was forced to drop his sister to block. The firelord turned around, facing his treacherous son.
"How dare you attempt to strike me boy." The firelord growled as he shrugged off his armor. As soon as he was released of it, his hand went to his hair, pulling the crown out and flinging it into his brothers sizeable gut. With him out of the way, he began to move his fingers, calling the coldest flame that resisted to punish his son. Zuko was a shame to the firelord. For, he was his spawn. He had to erase the blemish from his bloodline.
Azula was fairly aware of being dropped to the floor, the wind being pulled from her lungs. She saw her father and felt the air become static. Then she saw her brother, standing utterly still and terrified. Without a seconds hesition she jumped infront of her father, her hands grabbing his stopping the movement. However, the energy had already built, and it had to be released somewhere.
She felt it serge through where there hands connected, her whole body becoming static before an explosion erooted between the two benders. Azula felt her body falling into the ocean once again, her mind giving way to darkness. She tried to reach for the light as she had done last time. Only, Raava wasn't there. It was as if the spirit had given up on her. Instead, she allowed herself to be swollowed by the ocean.

They had been taken by surprise, not even Aang had seen it coming. He was facing the earthking with the truth when. At first it felt like an earthquake, the ground shook and the palace seemed to shudder. But then, then something happened. The smell of burning flesh filled the longs of every resident of the upper ring. Along with the sound of screams. Aang hurried outside, only to see the upper wring in flames. Above the dirstriction, high in the sky, floated war balloons, and from there bellies bombs where dropped. One after another until the upper ring had been reduced to ruble.
"You should go avatar," the saddened voice of the earthking came from behind him.
Aang looked in shock at the man, taken aback. No he had to stay and fight this. About to tell him that, but a whole burst open, spitting out the blind earth bender from the ground. "Aang what's going one why is the city crumbling." She asked him feee written over her features.
Aang sighed as he looked out to the horizon. "The firenation won."
—————-
Long Feng stared into the monsterous eyes ouf the sky bison, the creature growling as he aproached, understandably not so fond of the man. However, he wasn't here to further hurt the creature. He opened a whole in the ceiling, reveling the sky to the creator before cutting the chains that bond him. His slipped a note to the creators horn before cutting the last bond. On that note was a date, the day of back sun.
Perhaps he wasn't able to protect his people, but you could be damn sure he would avenge them.
