A/N: When I picture I picture the late George H.W. Bush in his 60's. I mean if you don't agree with me then picture someone else. Or if you don't understand, put a picture of Bush and Connor Trinneer up next to each other and then you'll get me. Then if you really don't get it watch American Made you have to get it if you do.
The next few days Commanders Trip and T'Pol were in Sickbay almost the entire day, only leaving to take showers and eat. Archer let them take a break from work until Elizabeth was out of the place, even though it hurt the wedding was planned to be next week with both of their families coming to Enterprise to see it and meet the baby. Trip asked if Jon wanted to be his best man but Archer turned it down. Trip ended up asking his best friend of the last year and a half, Lt. Malcolm Reed, the tactical officer. T'Pol's maid of honor is going to be ensign Hoshi Sato, the communications officer and one of her best friends on the ship.
Today three of the Admiral's are coming to the ship to meet Elizabeth, the admirals coming are three totally different types of people. Admiral Gardener, he just wants whatever Admiral Forrest would have wanted. Admiral Black, a by the book xenophobe. Then there is Admiral Hazelwood, the type of Admiral who would do anything for anyone if she thinks it's the right thing to do even if she gets into a lot of trouble doing it, as she would put it what's worth the prize is always worth the fight, and that she just doesn't give damn.
Also coming today is the Trip's family. T'Pol is nervous to meet them and doesn't know how they will react to her being Vulcan. It also doesn't help that Trip is nervous but she can't do anything about that. T'Pol gets off of her Bio bed and heads over to her child. She just stares at her amazed that this little baby is hers. T'Pol picks her up and sits down softly humming a Vulcan lullaby her mother used to sing to her. T'Pol missed her mother everyday and knew that Soval did too. Growing up with Soval as a father wasn't easy, he was distant even for a Vulcan and was gone all the time. She never really saw him as a father figure until the day she arrived back from the expanse and made sure she had a place to stay on earth for a while until she went on her infamous trip to Vulcan.
She came out of her thoughts when she felt a strong arm go across her shoulder. Trip had been watching T'Pol humm her song to their daughter and could feel her rollercoaster of emotions.
" So what does Soval think of being a grandfather?" Trip asked smirking but secretly terrified of how he was going to think about all of this.
" When I told him that she was going to be alright he seemed gratified." She said looking up to meet her gaze knowing that her future no matter what anyone thinks of her little family was going to be a happy one just because of this one man.
Three hours later the three Admirals, Captain Archer, and Malcom Reed came walking through into the room with the Tuckers. The Tuckers included Cathrine Tucker, Charles Tucker Jr., Rachel Tucker the oldest of the kids with her husband Jerry and 16 year old son bobby, Burt the second oldest son with his husband Calvin and 13 year old son Ryan, Jamie one of the youngest with his wife Sarah and his three boys 8 year old Matt, 6 year old Henry, and 4 year old Owen, and finally came Joe the twin brother of Jamie and his wife Hannah. If Lizzy was still around she would have been the youngest.
" Alright everybody before the pleasantries are shared I have a few announcements that involve everyone in this room." Admiral Hazelwood projected her voice as she is the most senior Admiral. " First off I want to congratulate the commanders on finding this most beautiful little girl. I and the rest of the StarFleet top brass are very happy for you, right Black?" She asked with a devilish smirk on her face projected at Admiral Black.
" Of course." Black replied hesitantly. That gave Gardener a huge smile.
" Next I would like to say that we are lifting the no frat rules so the commanders can get married, which if you ask me is a longtime coming both the lifting of the rule and the commanders getting married damn you Koss." she shook her head then went on. " This announcement kinda goes with the last one, please don't make it known that the no frat rules are lifted because people break up and that causes problems." After that one she let out a sigh. " Next is that we are allowing baby Lizzy to grow up on Enterprise not just because we need her parents out here for reasons I will explain soon but also, Vulcan is in the middle of a huge government change, again long overdue. Then earth well just isn't safe so yay." Courtney takes a breather. " Finally but certainly not least, there will be promotions! Yes I know it is exciting. The first one I like to announce is that Captain Archer is getting promoted to Admiral to take over for the retiring Admiral Cunningham." This announcement made all of the heads in Sickbay look at the man of the conversation. The same man who said he will be a captain till Enterprise is decommissioned. " So you are probably wondering who the next captain of Enterprise will be. That job will go to Commander T'Pol, with your command records and experience it wasn't that hard of a decision. Though this will be the first real test of if being in command and being a parent will be too hard to handle, I hope you can make sure our decision is the correct one Commander." Hazelwood said, giving a pointed look to T'Pol.
" Yes Admiral." T'Pol replied with a short nod
"Lt. Reed will be promoted to so Tucker can continue to be chief engineer and he can play First Officer. Well that's about it. The Tuckers will be staying in the guest quarters for the wedding, I will also be staying on Enterprise for the promotion ceremony and wedding, the wedding is being held on thursday of next week as you are all aware. The promotion ceremony will take place the day before that so good luck to those of us who are a part of those events. It will be a busy week, yay. I believe Captain Archer had something to say to the group." She finally finishes her very boring update and hands the floor over to Archer.
" Thank you ma'am. Well for the past few days while you were showering in Sickbay's bathroom and well living in Sickbay the engineering crew made some adjustments. Whoever is staying aboard follow me." With that Admirals Gardener and Black left for the shuttlebay and the rest of the group followed Archer to the Captain's quarters.
" As Admiral Hazelwood said in her lengthy report T'Pol will be promoted to captain next week so that means she does get the new modified Captain's quarters." He types in the override code only given to senior officers, tactical officers, and medical officers and goes into the room. The cabin is doubled in size and the bulkhead separates that and the next door cabin. The cabin has a main living room, two bedrooms and a bathroom.
" So let me get this straight: you got to bring a dog aboard when you became captain, and she got to bring a baby aboard when she became captain? Man I'm the coolest boss ever."
" Funny Hazelwood funny." Said Archer with a smile " Well me, Reed, and the Admiral will let you guys be your son or maybe a crewman can show you guys to your quarters when you're ready." With that the three of them left creating some serious tension.
" So everybody this is T'Pol, T'Pol this is everybody." Trip tried to break the tension but that didn't really work.
" Can we see the baby?" Catherine asked eager to meet her new granddaughter
" Of course you can." Again answered Trip who was holding the baby. Trip gave his daughter to Cathrine who turned to let everyone see her. T'Pol stood back and watched as all the Tuckers cooed over Lizzy. Then her commed sounded.
" Archer to Commander T'Pol." Hoshi's voice rang through the room causing the talking to stop.
" T'Pol here." She replied using her intelligence training to look at the Tucker's without them noticing.
" Ambassador Soval is coming up from earth and I would like you to join me in greeting him." When all the adult Tucker's with an exception of Trip heard the Ambassadors name they rolled their eyes and shot each other annoyed looks. This did not go unnoticed by either one of the new parents.
" Yes sir, T'Pol out." When she turned around Trip shot her a look that said just go along with this.
" Hey darlin, you should bring Lizzy with you. I mean the Ambassador must be pretty excited to meet his first grandchild." When he said that everyone kept shifting their eyes from one commander to the other.
" Yes, my father has had a rather bad year. It must be very agreeable to have good news." She said looking down trying not to remember her mother's horrible death. Even though they rarely got to see each other her parents loved each other.
" A bad year? He and your people are the reason Lizzy isn't here right now and think you can say he or any other one of you unfeeling aliens can be having a bad year? I and the rest of my family will be having bad years for the rest of our lives because of you. Do you know how hard it is to lose a sibling because of some alien race that could have been prevented?" Joe went off having enough of this Vulcan who thinks can join their family. Before this the entire family decided that they will still accept Trip and the baby but refuse to accept her.
" I think that should take my daughter and meet my father." She said quickly already late to meet the captain and not wanting to relive the hurt she felt when her brother who was also her best friend died. Then she saw the satisfied smirks on their faces and knew she had to tell them. " To answer your question yes I do know how it feels. But here is my question to you: do you know how it feels to lose your mother 6 months ago to the same race that could have prevented your brother's death years apart. Then finding out that everything that you have learned about your planet was a lie and your mates' family is blaming you and your people for something that was the fault of the aliens that killed your brother and mother, and not the fault of your people. Are you being discriminated against by people of a world that you owed nothing to, quit your life's work to save, and are permanently damaged because of that? Has your mind been broken into on three separate occasions by three different people? Have you served in 2 different wars mentaly damaged by both. No don't think that has ever happened to you or your family so thank you very much but I think my life has been a little bit harder than yours. I have always been sorry for your loss but don't blame it on me or my father who's job is to just tell people of what the Vulcan government that was infiltrated by the aliens that killed my mother and brother said." With all that said she left a room full of jaws that have been dropped. It was the biggest emotional slip she has ever let up since she was a child. Trip could feel her concern and gave his family a disappointed stare before he went off running to catch up to his fiancée and kid.
