Chapter 5

Conducting Research

~Martin's Room - 6:15 PM~

After getting through an unpleasant goodbye to Diana and the days lessons and some angry ranting from Jenny Martin retreated to his room for some alone time. Holding the address in hand that the Professor had given him, it was time to do some digging into the Institute. There had to be something about the place Martin could expose. Something that would work in his favor to get the job done. Only one problem stood in his way. He had no idea what he was looking for or what he was actually trying to prove. Why was he trying to go through all the trouble to expose a school he never heard of? Was Diana's departure and what she said getting the better of him?

Shaking his head Martin tried to think straight. He was overthinking about what happened this morning. So what if Diana left Torrington again? She was bound to return once she realized how dumb she was behaving. Clearly she couldn't take a joke nor could she take responsibility for her actions after working for Octavia and stealing all his monsters. Why did Diana have to show him up like that? Clearly he deserved that upgrade on his evaluation. He was a great agent after all. Probably the best in the business. Course little Ms. Perfect couldn't accept her own evaluation or his own out of jealousy. Now she took off for another school just to show him off, again.

Well Diana could act out all she liked but Martin wasn't going to play her game. This was just a cry for attention. He figured give it a couple days and Diana would come crawling back to Torrington to admit she was wrong. The thought of that made Martin chuckle. Oh that would be a rich sight to see but for now he had bigger fish to fry. If he couldn't dig up any dirt he could at least learn more about this so-called school the Professor was running. Using his computer Martin typed in the school's name to learn more intel about it. From what he found the school seemed like ones typical school for children who were gifted. Not exactly out of the ordinary. Martin tried to look up more information but nothing stood out as something he could use to expose the Professor.

At this point it was pointless to continue looking into something that had a clean record. How Diana got into such a school was beyond him. And then it hit him. Diana must have gotten an invitation to join the school and said invitation had to be in her room. If he could find it he could find the answer to his question. His snooping was go on the road, or down to Diana's room anyway.

By now her bedroom would be locked since she was no longer bunking there. Who needs a key when you can use the eye cutter on your U-Watch? Martin just used the eye cutter to open the door and walk right in. (I think the best way to describe how he did it was by using the eye cutter to laser point through the metal rim the door knob is attached to.) The room was still furnished minus all the belongings Diana had put in. There had to be a clue around here somewhere. So Martin began his search through Diana's room. He searched high and low for anything that might be helpful with putting two-and-two together.

He checked the closet.

He checked in the desk drawers.

He checked the garbage can.

Nothing.

Diana had cleaned the place out before she left.

However, her computer was still in place. Perhaps the files were still in tact, Martin could go through them and find anything that screamed suspicious. He sat down then turned on the computer. Only to be meet with a screen asking for a password. That was a problem but he was sure to figure it out. He started typing in random passwords like his name and Diana's birthday and dictionary but none of them worked. How was he suppose to know what kind of password Diana had used? Not like she left a note with the password written down on it. Or had she? Martin didn't notice it before but on the left hand side of the computer there was a pink sticky note. He peeled off the note reading what it said.

Password: PinkFairyBunny9

Kind of an odd password he thought but gave it a try. Luckily it worked, Martin now had access to Diana's computer. Now the real fun could begin. Martin looked at Diana's screen and all the files that were on it. It didn't look like anything was erased which meant this would be an easy search or it would be if Martin knew what he was looking for. Well he knew what he was looking for just not what to look for. Since there was no actual note that meant there had to be one of the computer. He just had to find a file that stood out as containing a note of some sort. Martin clicked File Explorer to search the files. Something would stand out and when it did he would claim his reward.

It was all about patience and observation. Within moments Martin found the file he was looking for. A file addressed to Diana from the Professor. Clicking on it Martin uncovered more information then he expected. It was a letter which talked to Diana about helping her with her mutant abilities. Say what now? Martin re-read the letter to make sure he read it right. Then he re-read it again to make sure he had not misread anything. Sure enough the letter was as it should be.

This made no sense. Diana had no mutant abilities or at least not anymore. M.O.M. had cured Diana of the mutation after the pair took down the ultimate creature. Now Martin was reading a letter saying Diana still had the mutation and was invited to the school he was just looking up online to get dirt on. Why didn't Diana tell him she turned back into that freaky lizard form again? He would have taken her to the Center to get checked out. He could have helped if she just told him. Now she was gone but not entirely. Martin had the address to the school. He could go there and bring her to the Center then once she was back to normal she was sure to come back to her senses.

That settled it.

Tomorrow Martin was getting his sister back.

Short chapter, next one might be longer
