James Madison POV:

I was pacing in the library, waiting for Thomas.

When he finally came through the door he said "Sorry I'm late. You know I drive Lafayette to school on Thursdays."

I rolled my eyes. Thomas could usually make it to school on time to be a library assistant, even on Thursday.

"Besides," He added "I was doing stuff last night."

I cringed. Was 'stuff' Angelica? I wondered. Was he doing Angelica last night?

Thomas noticed my face. "What?" He asked as he set his laptop on the table.

I waved my hand in a 'forget about it' gesture. His love life and who he sleeps with should be none of my concern, so I decided not to ask about it.

Thomas started to print out something.

"What are you doing?" I asked.

"Merde." He muttered while face palming. "I should've texted you last night. I'm sorry. Me and Angelica made a plan to alternate campaign days and I have posters to print out for her." He said a bit louder to me.

I bit my lip. "Don't worry." I said trying to shake it off. I shouldn't be worrying about things like that.

I started reading a book while he hung up the posters. When he finished, Thomas started to play on his phone. There was an awkwardness between us that wasn't normal.

"So... how's Lucy?" I asked trying to spark up a conversation.

"Fine. She thought Angelica was my girlfriend last night." He said.

I bit my tongue. But, Thomas could still see the scorn on my face.

"Are you okay, man?" Thomas asked with pure concern in his voice.

"Yeah, I guess. There's just a lot of things on my mind right now." I said, burying my face into my hands.

I heard his footsteps coming towards me. I decided to ignore them. But then he grabbed my wrists and unburied my face.

"Don't hide your face, it's beautiful." Thomas said to me.

I started to feel face getting hot. Thomas let go of my wrists.

"Th-thank you, T-Thomas." I stuttered.

"I'm just saying the truth." He said.

I stood up. Thomas grabbed my arm and said "If there's something that is bothering you, you can tell me. You know that right?"

"Y-yes." I barely got the words out.

I took some deep breaths. I already decided that I had to tell him eventually, but that make it any less hard.

"I-" I tried to speak but the words got lost.

"It's okay." Thomas said. Giving my hand an encouraging squeeze.

"I'm g-gay." I finally spit out.

Thomas said nothing, instead he hugged me.

I hugged back. I wanted this moment to last forever.

"Thank you, for telling me." He said in my ear.

I just nodded, not wanting to ruin anything.

The highlight of my month was interrupted by someone swinging open the library door.

"Hey, Thomas! Sorry I'm late I-" Angelica stopped in the middle of her sentence when she saw us.

"I hope I'm not interrupting anything." She squeaked uncharacteristically.

"No, not at all." Thomas said, letting go of me.

Angelica stood there awkwardly. She was wearing an oversized pink hoodie and had her hair up in a messy bun. Angelica reminded me of a lost puppy looking for it's owners, but not wanting to bother anyone. It made sense; she barely knew me and was probably making out with Thomas yesterday. That was a recipe for awkwardness. Angelica decided to move. She set down a tray of three coffees.

"I-I got you guys coffee." She said.

"Thank you, Angelica." Thomas said grabbing a coffee.

He took a long sip then said, "I hope you don't plan on spilling any of this on me."

A blush danced on Angelica's cheeks.

"Well, now my master plan of wasting food is ruined!" Angelica said sarcastically.

I had no idea what they were talking about.

"Umm.. what?" I asked.

"Inside joke." Angelica replied.

"Angelica likes to throw food at me." Thomas replied.

Okay then.

I started to drink my coffee, while listening to Thomas and Angelica's chat.

"So, I already hung up the posters for you." Thomas said.

"Thanks. They look great." Angelica managed a smile. "I can leave if you want." She nervously said whilst jabbing her thumb in the direction of the door.

"No!" Thomas outbursts. "I mean, you can if you want to." He said calmer.

"I think I'm just going to go." She said, packing up her things.

"Bye." I waved as she walked out the door.

I spent the next few minutes talking to Thomas. He listened intently. That was ruined when the bell rang.

"Let me walk you to your class." Thomas offered.

"O-okay." I replied.

Thomas put his arm around my shoulders and we started walking down the hall. He then dropped me off at my art class.
