Author's Note:-
Hello, my faithful readers! I have come up with another update. Sorry I was late with this one. It was confusing because I didn't know how to start chapters. It's hard to think of openings and middle parts of a fic even when everything is planned out. Not to mention my IRL problems, starting with college. I'll still try to upload as much as I can. Thank you for your patience
Please leave reviews it helps me a lot in both motivation and increasing my skill in writing.
Without any delay, let's begin.
A graveyard is a place for the dead to rest. A place where their bodies are buried. A place where people come to mourn for their passed away loved ones. A place where currently, several police officers stood, taking pictures of an open coffin. Working around and collecting any possible clues left, with a couple tightly hugging each other as one of them is clearly suffering from a near mental breakdown.
"I'm sorry for your loss ma'am", the police officer said with sympathy towards the woman in front of him. Summer Rose would have been mentally broken down if Taiyang wasn't there to comfort her. The second he heard from Summer about a possible theft from Qrow's grave he took an early leave from Signal and hurriedly approached the graveyard. Right now, Summer wasn't letting go of Taiyang as she tightly hugged, and she wet his shirt with her tears. Being the only one who was capable of holding Summer together, Taiyang didn't let go of her either.
"What has been taken?", Taiyang asked as he figured what the officer meant. Anger was visible on his face, anger which was justified as to how and why would anyone would disturb the dead, especially his friend.
The officer looked at his report and answered, "It is the Huntsman's weapon"
"The Harbinger!?", Taiyang exclaimed
"The only thing surprisingly", the officer said, "the body was disturbed harshly, resulting in it in breaking down but nothing else was taken at all", Summer held Taiyang even tighter after hearing it. It was too much for her to bear. The officer thinking it was enough held his cap, "I'll be taking my leave. I will notify you of anything that happens in our investigation", and left the two alone, "I'm sorry for what happened".
The two stood there for a while as the police went away after investigating the scene.
Taiyang looks down at Summer with sad and worried expressions. Sad as what just happened and worried for Summer, but there was something even more worrying. What will Raven do if she hears it?
As for Summer, she was just wishing this to be a bad dream and that she would wake up any second now.
Qrow woke up with pain all over his body. He groaned as he pushed the ground and got up. His head hurt a lot, and then slowly, the events that happened earlier started coming to him.
He went to get help from Ozpin, but instead of getting help, he got beat down by the reincarnating wizard.
He crawled towards one of the walls of the warehouse and pressed his back against it and rested. His eyes showed only 2 emotions, disappointment and loneliness. He wallowed in self-pity until the shadows shifted in front of him, and the old man returned. His face was unreadable, and he asked, "How did the reunion go?"
Qrow swallowed a lump down his throat and answered, "I'm still here and my body hurts. What do you think?"
The old man's face showed a grim expression hearing it. Basically saying 'I told you so', without actually saying it. Qrow groaned seeing him and wanted to say 'fuck you', but he was tired to do all that. Not physically but emotionally. He didn't want to deal with him or any of this right now.
The old man asked, "How are you feeling?"
Qrow replied, "As good as I can feel right now.", Ozpin hit Qrow heavy. It was a miracle there was still a shadow in the room that allowed Qrow to escape, if not for it he was sure he would have become Spawn flavored sheesh kebab from that giant fireball Ozpin threw at him. He wondered if what happened at Beacon got spread like a wildfire. Probably not. After all, Ozpin is good at keeping secrets.
"Well...", the old man said, "you gonna stay there in self-pity, or are you gonna do something about it?"
"What?"
"If you can't even hold your own against Ozpin, do you seriously think you can hold your own against the others that roam around?", the old man asked.
Qrow thought about it, and while some part of his brain did think about giving it up and letting himself die, the other part was not that willing to do so at all. He looks down at the ground looking defeated and said, "What's the point of all this?", the old man stayed silent as Qrow started increasing his voice and showing his anger, "I died! My body is buried 6 feet down below! No one recognizes me anymore, no matter what I say! The only man in the world that could help me nearly killed me just because I exist, and now I am targeted by many things because I EXIST!", he vented all the frustration he had within this past couple of months. Once let it all out, he took a deep breath and fell back to his defeated state. He said, "Tell me... what's the point of me going on anymore?"
The old man and the Spawn, the two creatures from hell, stayed silent. One waiting for some form of an answer from the other, and after a while, the old man spoke, "What was the deal?", Qrow looked up at him with confusion written over his masked face. The old man continued, "Tell me. What was it that had you to make the deal with the devil himself so you could return to this world even though you died?"
The Spawn replied, "I... I don't know?", the old man felt flabbergasted at this even though his face didn't show it much, "I don't know why I would do it? Sure, I died a bit young without getting a chance to get a proper life. But I didn't have any regrets. I died protecting my friend. I don't regret that. My chance at a normal life was already busted the second I was born into a tribe of bandits but I don't regret that. Then why would I deal with the devil to get a second chance at this life is something I don't know"
The silence once again filled the room. Both the otherworldly beings now stood confused. The Spawn wanted to find answers, but all he got was more questions. Sure, he was getting answers and fewer questions now, but he still had some. The biggest one that was shared between him and the old man standing in front of him.
A pregnant silence followed, both of them looked at each other for answers. The moonlight started coming through the window, indicating that a lot of time passed. The rays from the illuminating moon entered through the windows and shined across the old man and the area around him. He raised his head and spoke, "Then find it!", Qrow looked at him with a surprised expression. The old man continued, "You are a Spawn! A general at the hell's army, whether you like it or not! You are not just wearing a costume, but also a uniform! A uniform that shows that you are nothing to scoff at! You sold your own soul for a reason and you don't even know!? If you can't remember it then find it! No one sells their own souls without any reason! Even the vilest beings sell it for mere things like power!", he walks towards Qrow with fierce eyes and offers him his hand, "If you can't find it, then all you did and all you sacrificed will be for nothing"
Qrow takes it all thinks. The old man had some truth in his words. No one sells their own soul for nothing. This costume, this power, this madness, this was a part of him now, whether he liked it or not. Everyone he knew are lost to him, or would not accept him even if he were to prove he was Qrow, thus leaving himself alone, but what he knows is that he came back for a reason. And he will find out what that is. He takes the old man's hand and gets up. They look at each other and Qrow responds, "Thanks, I needed that", he then quips, "you are a great speaker"
The old man chuckles, "I get that a lot"
Qrow looks at the sky through the window and asks, "How do I find out about what I came back for?"
"I will suggest you look into the people you used to know. Usually, they are the ones which hold the key to all this"
"Understood. I will look into it", Qrow then walks towards the shadows. After surrounding himself by it he turns his head and looks at the old man and says, "Thanks. Once again", and vanishes into the darkness.
