"Oh, how could I forget my dear granddaughters' birthday? Both of you, so grown up now. I cannot believe it's been fifteen years." Grandpa Higarashi sighed, making Saria flush.

Kagome, naturally, was more moved by the presence of presents. "A present for me?!" She said, excited.

Saria was just happy to be remembered, being adopted wasn't always a cakewalk for some but the Higarashi's never failed to include her in anything. They made her feel as loved as could be, and she loved them as fiercely in return.

"The mummified hand of a water imp is sure to bring happiness." Their grandpa said as he handed her sister, her "Twin", a mummified hand. "In fact, the origin of that is…"

Disappointed, Kagome handed the hand to their cat. " Have a snack, Buyo."

"No, don't give it away!"

Saria frowned at her sister. " That's rude, that meant a lot to Grandpa." Kagome just shrugged, coldly. Kagome could be great, but boy could she be shallow. Turning back to her crying Grandpa, Saria smiled. "It's okay, I am sure whatever you got me is lovely."

The man smiled. "That is why you are my favorite." And he handed her an old book. "I know you want to take over the shrine when you are older, So I found you this book to learn from and protect. It was tucked away, in our shed. I have no idea about it, only that it is rather recent in comparison to the other older relics. Use your time to unlock his secrets to educate and preserve it's history."

Smiling, she embraced the old man. "I love it already." The moment she made contact it, however, a rush of cold washed through her body and she felt a rush of energy, not entirely unlike adrenaline overtake her. 'Am I that excited over this book?' That seemed... doubtful.

:::

"Is this blood?" Saria asked, opening the book the next day as she slowly walked out of her house, waiting to walk with her sister to school. Saria may be nearing college already, a perk of studying hard and being smarter then smart, but that didn't mean she didn't enjoy hanging out with her sister. " The words seem to be written in blood, but it's sort of smeared and hard to read. And what is this made of, skin?" A Scream drew her attention sharply and she rushed outside where she saw a horrible sight... her sister being dragged into the Hidden Well by what looked like six massive white hands. Sota was screaming in horror, but Saria was made of sterner stuff and rushed as fast as she could to her sister's aid. "Hold on!" She said as she threw herself into the well...

And into what could only be described as a vortex of blue and purple energy, that seemed to slow her descent just behind her sister. She saw a massive monster, a human centipede hybrid with a flawless human top grasping her sister coldly.

"You have it, give it to me!" The woman screamed, licking her sister's cheek.

Kagome, not having that, pushed her away. "LET GO!" She screamed as pink light exploded from her hand, blasting the monster away and tearing off her arm.

Saria saw her sister land, moments before she did the same. "KAGOME!" She called out, making her sister flinch as she threw herself at Kagome, horrified at what she just saw. "Are you okay?"

"I was so scared, what the hell was that?"

They both shivered, terrified and confused. "We have to get out of the well." Standing, the sisters looked up and saw... " Is that an open sky, how is that possible the well was in a hut?" Sharing a confused look, they swiftly climbed out of the hut... only for Saria to realize the book was still in her hands. She hadn't let go of it, not through all of that.

Kagome called out. "Sota… Buyo… The shrine is gone. Saria, it's The Sacred Tree! What a relief! We're close to home!" She said as they rushed towards the spot where they saw the Tree towering over the forest, pushing through some bushes. Only for Kagome to stop so suddenly Saria almost ran into her.

Looking up, Saira saw why. A boy was pinned onto the tree, with roots growing over him. An arrow pierced through his chest, he was wearing a red kimono and had silky white hair that feel thickly around him. He was beautiful... even with his Doggy ears! Yes, Saria swore she saw Doggy ears on the boy.

"A boy? Kagome walked, never afraid, towards the boy and climbed the roots to ask. "Hey, what're you doing? These…aren't human ears. I want to touch them…" And then she rubbed his doggy ears.

"Kagome, with that monster lady from before... he can't be human with ears like that."

Naturally Kagome ignored her... and then a rustling drew their combined attention to a group of men with bows and topmots. "You there! What're you up to!"

Thankfully, even though they fired, not a single arrow hit her sister. Still, Saria was pissed and her self-defense training kicked in. Lashing out, she kicked one man into another, then she socked the leader in the face, making him gasp. She stole his bow and smashed it over his head. "Attacking innocent women, what are you thinking you brutes!"

The man called out, fleeing from her in shock and terror. "A witch, she has to be a witch!"

"I am not a witch, I am just not the kind of girl that lets people bully them now apologize for attacking my sister." She moved closer, threateningly and the man fell into rapid apologies. "Good... now help us out, we are lost and we need help. Where is the nearest town or village, actually where the hell are we?"

Within twenty minutes, they were in the center of a small, rustic village that oozed charm and poverty all at once. As she and her sister waited to see their leader, they listened to the many villagers, all garbed in old clothes, chatter about them.

"Two Young girls in strange clothing.

"From a foreign land?"

"Will there be war again?"

Yukichi: Just before rice-planting season? We're so short-handed as it is!

"Perhaps she's a fox in disguise?"

"Better a shape-changer than another war."

Yukichi: Make way for High Priestess Kaede!

An old woman with an eyepatch in priestess clothes, holding a bundle and a bow, walks towards them. Not at all afraid, she marched up the clearly in charge woman. "Your men attacked us, unprovoked, nearly killing my sister."

The woman recoiled. " They said you were demons, trying to awaken Inuyasha?"

"You mean the clearly dead boy pinned to the tree? Yeah no, we are just lost and were stunned to see someone pinned to a tree." She frowned. "We were attacked by a woman with the lower half of a centipede, well my sister was... is he really a demon, there are no demons where we are from."

The woman gasped. "No demons... how is that possible?" She then turned to Kagome and oozed shock. She looked at her while walking closer. " You there. Let me take a good look at your face." She grabbed her chin and looked at it from every angle. " Look clever, girl! Such a likeness… to my sister Kikyo."

Kagome and Saria both looked shocked. "Huh?"

"Please, forgive us... you can stay with me in my hut tonight... it is the least we can do after attacking you poor girls."

Later that night, after they settled in, the two girls were served stew by Kaede.

"Looks delicious! Thank you!" Kagome said as she drank the stew.

Saria nodded in total agreement. "This is lovely."

Kaede sighed. " Forgive us. With so many wars these days, our young ones have become rash. Even if I tell them we've no business with wars, they refuse to listen and only give me more to worry about."

Kagome put her food down. "This, uh… isn't Tokyo, is it?"

"Tokyo"…? Never heard of such a place. Is that your homeland?"

Saria nodded. "Sort of... though I have a feeling we've traveled through time. I know my history, and I have heard of Kaede the priestess who stood guard over this place for nearly a century. Grandpa Higarashi told me about you, you are something of a local legend."

Kaede gasped. " Time travel, that is possible in your time?"

"I am not sure, magic may be able to do it but as far as I am aware there is no magic in our time."

A massive crash and then A bell ringing drew them all from the hut.

Kaede called out to a villager. "What's going on?!"

"An evil spirit!"

The centipede monster that grabbed Kagome nto the well appeared, holding a whole freaking horse in her mouth. Several villagers fire arrows at her, whom she swipes away with her tail. She flung the horse at Kagome, Saria and Kade but someone they managed to dodge it.

Kagome called out. " That again!"

The Demon screamed. "Hand me the Sacred Jewel!" She flew at them, missing barely.

Kaede was stunned. "The Sacred Jewel? Do you have it?"

I don't know! I don't know about any Sacred Jewel!

Two villagers fire arrows at the centipede while she's midair. "Give it to me! Give it to me!" The demon then started to spin rapidly, destroying huts and throwing people in each direction.

A man came to Kaede, the same one from before. "Our spears and arrows have no effect!"

Kaede nodded. "We must throw her into the Dry Well!"

"Dry well?" Kagome asked.

"The well in the Inuyasha Forest."

"Which way is the forest?" Kagome asked. " Where the light is shining? " Then she ran off, towards the forest... to where she apparently saw lights.

Kaede was even more stunned. " What did you say?!" Before Saria rushed after her sister, grateful for her athletic body less she would be screwed in the high grass and loose dirt roads.

Kagome called out as she reached the forest. "Let it pursue me! Gramps! Mom! Save me! Someone help! Someone help me!"

Saria, still carrying her book, felt her heart break out of both fear and shock. "Please, please be safe. If there is anyone out there, if there are gods are there are clearly demons... help us, help me save my sister."

The book, still in her hands, throbbed and pure cold shot through her body. She felt stronger, not questioning it, she rushed even faster to save her sister and hopefully keep her beloved family whole.
