This is the accumulation of all of OUAT stories I have written. I think I figured out the formula for making them... This oc was inspired by Aaron Mathews, my Percy Jackson Oc.
I wanted to see what a pure human without bloodlines or inherit powers could do. Someone that has eto earn it all, respect, influence and all of it. He is sort of non-evil male Cora in a way. I really liked how she went from nothing to strong enough to fight Rumple and nearly win!
I hated how the Blue Fairy was so judgemental but loved her power and influence so I am making her a bigger character.
I needed some ideas though, some sounding boards etc... I want this to be epic. I am not too proud of this first chapter, but I do like it.
Please enjoy.
Bryce was shivering as he marched through the woods, he was cold and hungry and miserable and very, very tired. Like earth shatteringly tired, his very soul ached. He hated life if he was being honest, especially his life. It had never been kind, not in seventeen years, not even once. Every time he thought it had been getting better it had been crushed and he had been thrown into greater despair. Hence why he ran away from yet another fosterhome, running across State lines to Maine. It had been a foolish choice, but he had to get away from the religious nutjobs he had been living with.
So here he was, walking in the woods towards nowhere, cold and tired and alone.
As he stumbled along, the boy tried his best to stem his hunger, hoping there would be some place to steal from eventually. He might pass otherwise, and that would be potentially lethal... he may hate his life, but he did not want to die. Odd as that was to say.
After an hour or so of walking, and seemingly no closer to a town, something... strange happened. Several strange things actually.
First there was this strange ripple, like a wave of tender heat that felt like a hug. He shook it off though, thinking it was a hallucination from hunger... then the purple Mist came. It was a like a tidal wave of Purple Mist, radiating across the ground like an avalanche. He hadn't noticed it at first, looking at the ground so he didn't trip over a root, but at some point he felt like he was being watched and looked up just in time for it to wash over him. His skin tingled and, to his shock, his hunger faded.
"What the hell?" he gasped, breathing in what had to be poison, as his skin and soul warmed. He felt better than he had in so long, stronger, smarter and more aware.
The mist faded slowly, only to reveal that he was no longer in the woods... but by a sign on a road. "Welcome to Storybrooke. How the hell did I get here?"
Confused, he marched along the path ahead of him, wanting answers but also following the strangest feeling in the world. It was like a magnetic pull on his heart, leading him onward. He was all to used to following his instincts, they had kept him alive through many terrible situations. This was no different...
Or so he hoped.
Walking along the road took about an hour, but before he knew it he was entering a small town that radiated charm and an old-fashioned feel. He couldn't help but smile as he looked around. There was a beautiful clocktower, a set of charming shops, and an air of peace. He loved this place already. There was even a dinner, Granny's Dinner it was called, and he was starving.
"No one is in... actually there is no one here... what the hell..."
Tired but deeply curious, he continued walking until he finally saw someone. Several someone's actually, they were standing outside a massive manner, shouting like a mob.
A beautiful but angry-looking woman with short black in a pantsuit walked out of the house, sneering. "What? Now you're gonna kill me?" Her tone was so hateful even Bryce felt afraid like she would and could do quite a bit of damage on her own.
A man, a doctor by the looks of it, walked forward. "Eventually. But first, you need to suffer." That made Bryce shiver, he kept back unsure of what to do. He was clearly in the middle of something terrifying.
"Listening to you has been enough suffering for all of us. That's right. You wanted to see your Queen? Well, my dears. "She slowly raising her arms and enunciating." Here she is! " She flung her hands forward and the crowd cowers and ducks, it was so strange that she did that and people reacted but nothing happened. Why had they reacted that way? Nothing happened...
"She's powerless!
The woman looked terrified and confused. "What?"
"Get her!"
The Dr. moved forward. "Now, "He shoved her up against a column. " where were we?"
Bryce broke through the crowd and shoved the Dr. away. "What the hell is wrong with you? She's unarmed and no clear threat. If she really did something to you people, take her to prison of something."
"He's right. Let her go!" A woman said, rushing towards them. She was blonde and beautiful and very strong looking. She was accompanied by a small pretty woman with brown hair, and a very all handsome looking buff guy.
The Dr looked at her. " Why should I listen to you?"
"Because I am still the Sheriff." The blonde said.
The Handsome man nodded. "Because she saved you. All of you!"
The small woman spoke. " And because no matter what Regina did, it does not justify this!"
"We are not murderers here."
The Dr snorted. " Well, we're not from this world." As if it was the most natural thing, confusing Bryce deeply.
The woman, the Sheriff stepped up. " Yeah, well, you're in it now.
The Big guy moved in between them. " Okay, Whale. We're done."
"Back off! You're not my Prince."
After a pause, the big guy asked. " Who are you, Whale?"
"That's my business."
"Well, my business is making sure this town doesn't go to hell, so whether or not I'm your Prince isn't the issue. We have a lot to figure out. And this isn't the way to do it."
The pretty small lady moved next to the mean lady Bryce protected. And Regina's death won't provide any answers. She needs to be locked up. For her safety, and more importantly, for ours."
Bryce had enough. " Can someone explain what is going on? I mean first I was in the middle of the woods, then that purple mist came, then I was by that Storybrooke sign, people are talking about another world and trying to kill an unarmed lady... what the hell is happening?"
Everyone turned to him, stunned. "What do you mean?" the Sheriff asked. "Don't you have your memories of the Enchanted Forest back?"
Regina, the pretty lady he saved, groaned. "The curse was undone, the magic preventing people from entering has faded. He is from the outside world. He has no memories to bring back. I can feel it, he has no magic on him."
Everyone turned to Bryce, with shock and fear in their eyes. Oddly Bryce wasn't too shocked, a little numb maybe but not too shocked. "That explains that cloud of purple smoke, was that magic?"
"Yes, that was someone returning magic to the town though I do not know how... now I should also explain that in your world, we are all Fairytale characters. We had entire lives in the Enchanted Forest, that includes many grudges" The Nun said. " I am the Blue Fairy, the woman you are defending it Regina, the Evil Queen. Her actions are evil beyond counting."
"Oh... okay... is she as bad as she was in the story or worse?"
The Blue Fairy sighed. "Far worse, she has killed, raped, tortured and worse. She cursed us all into miserable forms, stuck in this world where she and only she had happiness. To be frank, She deserves death."
"Then... go ahead I guess. I mean I do believe in the Death penalty." He moved away from Regina, frowning. "Before anyone judges me, I literally just saw people attacking an unarmed woman, I think my actions had merit." He turned to the Fairy. "Can I get some food now, I haven't eaten in days... and I kind of want to learn magic, if it is possible. Oh and I should say that I won't ever tell anyone about this town, even if I was believed the Government might overtake it. I don't know you people but no one deserves that."
Everyone cringed at that reminder but the Blue Fairy smiled. "You are a kind soul... and wiser than I would have guessed. Now let's get you some food and... maybe. It has been so long since I have taught magic." She turned to The so called Prince. "I will take responsibility for him. Normally I would suggest erasing his memories but spells like that should never be performed on a child. It is safer and kinder to simply allow him to adapt, no differently than Henry has here.
The Prince nodded. "If you think that is best.'
"I do..." She linked his arm in Bryce's and they moved through the crowd. "What is your name, child?"
"Bryce, I don't use my last name."
"Well Bryce, I appreciate that you realize the severity of keeping our secret."
He smiled at her. "Well... It is only logical. I couldn't live with myself if I revealed your secret and doomed your entire people to death or worse."
"It is precisely that attitude that is why I am considering teaching you witchcraft." She went quiet then, whispering. " We need more practitioners, we have two incredibly powerful magic users here. Rumplestiltskin and Regina. We need to be armed if we are to survive. To be honest that is the main reason I may teach you magic. I have to ask though, how are you taking this so well? Even Emma, the Sheriff, had to go through much to even see magic. Her mind was never open enough for that..."She looked at him with curiosity.
He just shrugged. "I am not sure. I would love to be a writer one day, I love magic and fantasy... so maybe that helped me with an open mind?"
"It would have helped I imagine." She nodded, pleased. "At any rate, I have to ask... are you homeless?"
"I am a runaway. My fosterparents were abusive."
She sighed. "I am nun here, we are separate but connected to the outside world. I will see what I can do about allowing to stay with me and my fellow Fairies."
He felt a rush of warmth. "Thank you."
"No one should be homeless, or helpless... especially a child." She sighed again. "We will go to Granny's dinner and I will catch you up with everything. I know most people in this town, I can help you determine who is who so you are not blindsided."
"A good idea... um... if Regina is really the evil Queen and is so magical, I should probably learn self defense. I'd rather not be turned into a toad."
That made the Fairy laugh. "She would rather tear your heart out."
"I thought that was the Queen of Hearts?"
"Her mother actually, Cora, was famous for that. Any Dark practitioner can do that. I know how to do it myself, but I wouldn't ever. I prefer Fairy magic even if I can do Witchcraft."
"Cool... what about self defense?"
"I can use a sword actually, I am quite old. I will teach you what I can. No one should be helpless, Like I said."
"Why are you so nice to me?"
She smiled, as warm as a quilt. "I am a Fairy, protecting the innocent is half of my job and as the Leader of the Faires, that goes even more for me. As a nun, I have more even more reason to do this. More so, I love children, even for a Fairy. You are what, sixteen?"
"Seventeen. Can't drive though."
"More to teach you then. There are more factors to my helping you though. Part of it is that you are a child and it is my duty. Part of it is to stop more damage from being done and to get more allies in the fight against the Dark. So many reasons to be honest."
There was a long silence for a moment, then he had to ask. "So... um... is Pinocchio real?"
She laughed. "Yes, I turned him into a real boy. He played a part in helping Emma from what I was told by her son Henry. Speaking of Henry..." She sighed, a lot of pain in her voice. "There is so much damage in this town, a life time and a half of trauma, pain and curses... to be honest, a large part of helping you is to stem the feeling of uselessness I feel. It has been so long since I have done some real good. Helping you can help me make amends for my laxness."
"I can appreciate that. I really can... not all good deeds need to be entirely selfless... now, let's get to this diner and you can tell me if the Prince plays for my team of not. He looks yummy."
That made her laugh. "David is very handsome, but sadly he is married to Snowwhite, or Mary Margeret in this world. Do not worry, the Enchanted Forest never had the same stigma towards homosexuality as this world has. No one here will care about that. Not even Rumplestilskin or Regina if I am being honest."
They shared more laughter before Bryce's education on the various Fairytale creature and people began.
As he listed to the Blue Fairy and enjoyed his delightful meal, happy to be fed, he could not help but think.
'Magic and fairytales... I should be terrified and yet I feel more excited than ever. Here I can be something, I can be free of being homeless and abusive foster parents. I can learn magic and be helpful and rise up to something great!' He knew it was silly and foolish, but he could not help the direction his heart went. Here was a path to more than he could ever dream and he could not help but hold onto that...
"'
The Blue Fairy's heart broke for the boy before her. As the Head of the Faires, she could detect certain emotions. It was not a perfect gift but from this poor boy, she felt pain and loss and so much hope. It was why she moved herself to help him personally, to ease the pain he oozed, pain that reminded her of Baelfire, of Rumple, of Regina, of Emma... No child should feel that way... it was not entirely different from when she helped Baelfire so many years ago. She had felt his pain and strove to help him, even at the cost of his father.
Now she found another child, whom the world had been so unkind however unlike Baelfire who sought freedom from magic, this boy sought Magic for freedom. She knew he had the potential to be a new Regina. It was always those that suffered and had no power that became the worst when given it suddenly. She sought to prevent that. It was pure guess work, but she had a feeling that the boy would learn magic with or without her. It was better that he was taught by her rather than Rumple or Regina.
This was she could help keep him on the righteous path...
The last thing they needed was another Regina...
She wasn't sure they could handle that... any of them. No this was what was best... besides, she hadn't been lying earlier. She wanted a project to make amends for her laxness in the Enchanted Forest. Had she had just killed Regina before or allowed Tinkerbell to help Regina, none of this might have happened. She had to make amends, helping this boy was a clear first start.
She had so much to make up for...
So, so much...
Chapter over, tell me what you think in the reviews.
This was a lot of fun. I really hope this becomes something big. I wanted to make the Blue Fairy more fleshed out, she was borderline evil at times in the show... so here she is... complicated.
Love, your Ninja Overlord,
Mika.
