This story inspired by Johnathan, Andrew, Willow and the countless other characters that just learn magic suddenly. I think the Sunnydale Library has books on magic, I almost am positive it does...

I love making and showing random ocs that grow in the worlds set up by a world and watching them thrive...

This oc will be epic.

You would have to be downright stupid to not notice that there were weird things going on Sunnydale. David was many things, cold, stubborn, far smarter than he ought to be, ruthless and uncaring to most... but stupid? Never. He prided himself on his intelligence, always had. It was down right impossible to not hear of the countless attacks, missing persons reports or whatever circulating almost constantly in the damn school. He had only been there a week at this point and he heard of over fifty missing persons reports! So yeah, he was sort of... aware of the miserable place that was Sunnydale.

He would have run away, again, but the judge told him that he had to stay in Sunnnydale, and only then would he be allowed to be emancipated. Sadly he accepted... of course, that was before he learned of the horror show that was Sunnydale's dark side. Thankfully it was rather easy to get his social worker to agree to let him sign up for kickboxing classes, he said it was for his health. He had long taken after his pudgy mother, no matter what he did he carried some extra weight on him. He could only hope that this would help...

Not that it had so far... as, after his first night practicing kickboxing and failing to pretty much anything given his extreme lack of anything resembling athleticism, he ran into a vampire.

It was a terrible experience, he was walking through the local graveyard, one of six in town, and was about twenty minutes from his apartment when something burst from the ground. He was walking over a grave and hands wrapped over his ankle, squeezing with agonizing strength. He fell to the ground and kicked out, hitting a face with enough strength to shatter it's nose. The vampire hissed at him, holding it's bloody face. David rushed out as fast as he could, the visage of the beast's face, the fangs and the air of predatory strength hitting home.

Somehow, someway, he made it to his home just as the beast in question found him. It slammed into his doorway, but could not cross over the threshold. It hissed and screamed and pounded on the doorway but it could not get in. David hurried away, grabbing a knife for protection just in case but the beast vanished after about twenty or so minutes, clearly realizing he was no longer eager prey.

David did not sleep once that night... but somehow, perhaps habit, he managed to get up and move his sorry butt so school. He was tired and shaky the entire time, but he still managed to get into school.

Thankfully he had tested out of most of his classes, he was going to go to college soon he just had to take a few ap classes this year, so he got to spend a few hours in the library. Which brings everything full circle, to this very moment, where David started going through the books searching for answers. It was unlikely but it was all he could think to do at the moment...

"Vampires, that was oddly simple... what else is there... there has to be something that can help me." he continued to peruse the shelves, looking for anything he could to find himself a means to protect himself. " Demons, that would be interesting, at the least educational... Witches and warlocks. Wonder if I can learn magic, or is a genetic thing... " A smile crossed his face, a nasty, cruel smile. The idea of setting the vampire on fire brought him great joy. "This will be wonderful..." Gathering his books, he moved them over to a table and started reading. Only to stop. "How to hell does the school have these kinds of books? What are the chances that I find them, I can't be the only one... there has to be others... Whatever doesn't matter, as long as I can learn to protect myself. Still, I should really look into this at some point, just to make sure that I don't have any more things to fear."

Over the next few hours, he devoured the contents of the book at a rapid pace. He finished both the vampire and the magic book within two hours, making notes in his own books and generally enjoying himself.

He made a list that really, really pleased him.

Magic and the dark world.

Magic is real

Witches can be any species, anyone can learn it but magic is an intellectual art that requires dedication and effort. Some people are born with the skill but that does not impede those who are not.

Vampires a legacy species,a dilute mixture of demon and human. They feed on humans for to survive. they are predatory and soulless...

A stake to the heart, decapitation and fire can kill a vampire.

Demons, most demons, are dilute species due to mating with mortals. True demons are massive and all powerful.

The Slayer is a girl chosen to fight vampires and the forces of darkness, they are imbued with tremendous mystical strength and other perks.

Hellmouths are places with tremendous mystical energies that can draw in the supernatural... Sunnydale might be on a Hellmouth...

What I need to do to survive

Learn magic, this is vital. I need any chance to survive, no matter how small. At least look into healing, protection and martial magics.

Get in better shape, if only to outrun the forces of darkness...

Make stakes, but do not seek out the supernatural until I am actually able to fight back.

Look into enchantments for money...If I am going to survive in a literal Hellmouth, then I need a means to make the most of it.

Get used to killing, I need to ensure I survive, do anything I can by any means that I can...

Satisified, he gathered his books together and walked over to the desk of one Giles, the new Librarian. "Can I take out these books?"

The man in question looked startled. "Um, yes, but why these books?"

A lie easily came to his lips. "I would like to be a fantasy author, one day anyway. I am doing my research." He put on a fake smile. reassuring the man in question who laughed.

"Ahh, that would make sense. Well, good luck in your pursuits."

"Thank you so much... I will be back. I have a serious adoration for witches. The idea of someone, unblessed by magic or destiny, molding themselves to power... it tickles me. If you wouldn't mind, maybe you can help me find some books on the subject? Or anything else..." He withheld the urge to flirt, Giles was seriously handsome. "I really want this to be a real powerful story. One that actually feels earned, not copying and regurgitating patterns that people have been putting into writing for decades."

Giles smiled, his tone warm. "I would be happy to help."

"You're sweet... Now, my school day ends now, so I am going home... see you later, Mr. Giles."

"""

"Huh..."

David smiled, reading the book on witchcraft. It was an overall book, including references to other tomes and the basics on how to master the craft if you had no experience.

"Emotional control and focus is the crux of witchcraft, to master the basics one must master these aspects. Meditation is a tool that can be used to focus the craft, however, exposure is also needed. Witches of old often learned through talismans, gaining sensitivity... another method is invoking ancestors, gods and other beings. It is also possible to channel the power of Grimoires, such as this one, as the act of penning knowledge to something invokes power in an of itself.

For those studying the craft, hold this book and utter this phrase, which is a Latin Prayer used to invoke and manifest powers within a vessel. However before you cast this spell, you must focus your emotions and work on clarity. The spell may not work the first time, it may take months. Do not allow failure to rob you of the potential for success and strength. Harness your will and make it a reality."

Closing his eyes, he took several deep breathes and stilled the excitement in his beating heart. It took about ten minutes to chill enough that he could focus enough to utter the spell.

"Invoca et hoc vas magico expone, o copiae, Audi preces, et terrae imbue majestatem! Invoca et hoc vas magico expone, o copiae, Audi preces, et terrae imbue majestatem! Invoca et hoc vas magico expone, o copiae, Audi preces, et terrae imbue majestatem! Invoca et hoc vas magico expone, o copiae, Audi preces, et terrae imbue majestatem!" He uttered again and again, whispering the spell with all his heart, his fingers digging into the book and hoping beyond all reason for the magic to work...

And then he felt it. Power, pure and potent, rushing into his soul. His body trembled, like lightning rushing into his soul, into every cell, leaving him breathless and in awe...

He wanted more and more, he wanted... needed to drown himself in this magnificent power!

Even as it faded, he was wired and excited and filled with a wonder more fitting a child.

"I need to do this... anything to feel that again... Okay... calm down before you set the house on fire. We have time... nothing but time."

Chapter end, tell me what you think in the reviews.

This was an awesome story, it had a rushed feel but that works for this story well.

Love, your Ninja Overlord,
