As Hawks watched the two villains interact in complete and utter silence, the bird felt his heart hammer inside his chest, already knowing just what his sister was going to decide in the end. It's what she had always told him after all. She was going to sell him out.
It was a very villainous thing to do after all and after the events that had happened tonight, Hawks honestly didn't blame her. He shouldn't have been allowed to live after this, after brutally murdering another human being in order to keep his cowardly lie going.
And the way his little sister looked at him when everything was over, when he was standing over Twice's dead body, it made his entire heart break into two. Simply because she looked utterly disappointed by his actions.
So honestly, the bird didn't have any hatred of animosity for her obvious decision, knowing that he was a disgrace as both a hero and a big brother in every single way possible. He deserved it, he deserved to die for being so selfish and cruel.
Although a few simple moments seemed like forever in Hikari's mind, her entire body and thoughts overloading themselves with possible answers to the question before her. And yet even still, her lips still didn't have the heart to utter a single word, to knowingly condemn one of the only people in her life to death.
Turning towards her emotionally distraught brother, the girl couldn't help but feel her stomach turn over at the blood on the pristine marble floors, visually displaying the crimes he had just committed on the commissions behalf.
She didn't know what had happened precisely but the girl was certain it was that woman's orders that drove him over the edge into dancing the line of villainy.
In fact, Hikari couldn't help but vaguely recall the horrified look Hawks' had given her on the night they stole those quirk erasing bullets at that club. Back then it seemed to snap some sort of realization for him about her villain persona and now it seemed the tables had turned as she couldn't help but look at him in the same light.
Because she much as she hated heroes, killing another in cold blood to silence them, now that was something even Valkyrie steered away from. And yet her brother had done it without a second thought, simple to keep his fragile mission.
So what was stopping him from doing the same for her, what was going to change in the future? Surely he would come after her life when the commission ordered it to be. That's why she should've just sided with Dabi and saved herself the heartache from the future.
But even so, the words wouldn't escape her lips in the slightest. They wouldn't form the phrase or even move no matter how hard she tried. How pathetic, wanting to hang around someone that was going to hurt you. Am I really that scared of losing him?
Just then, her bubble seemingly popped as Dabi's voice broke through her serious concentration all at once, almost like he already knew what had her so conflicted. "If you think any harder you're gonna break a blood vessel, Princess."
His words were strange, causing the girl to immediately snap her head upwards before turning back to her best friend with a frown. It was times like this when she really hated how well he knew her. Now it seemed impossible to hide her conflict.
Dabi didn't seem bothered in the slightest, already expecting her reaction before deciding to make things easier on her behalf as he hummed knowingly. "Come on, let's stop this game already. You and I both know you will never actually have the heart to condemn poor little Keigo's life."
Feeling her eyes widened at his accusation, Hikari couldn't help but turn her head in question. Just what the hell was he talking about? It's like he could read her mind or something, like he was staring into the deepest part of her soul.
The villain seemed to revel in her reaction though, lifting his hands up before pointing to the hero behind him with a cruel smirk. "Which is really strange, considering he's been betraying the league this entire time. But you already knew that, didn't you Princess?"
At that, both Hikari and Hawks felt their bodies freeze, glancing between each other as the woman couldn't help but suck in a heavy breath. Fuck, he knew about Keigo already? Why didn't he call her out if that was the case? Something wasn't right here.
Hawks on the other hand, couldn't help but give a dark chuckle. Everything really was over, wasn't it? The mission he tried so hard to protect, it had all been destroyed just like that.
Twice could've stayed alive and nothing would have changed. Dabi would've still found out, everything still would've been the same in the end. How ironic.
So much so, that Hawks' felt his feather flitch at the realization before tightening the hold on his sword with a sad smile. What was the point of keeping up appearances anymore now that everything was gone? "Ah man, guess the gig's up then? Gotta say, I thought I was doing a pretty good job. When did you figure it out, when did I misstep?"
The bird wondered, he wonder when he fucked up, when Dabi had seemingly figured out everything. There had to be something he said or did that made him suspicious and the hero was desperate to know what it was, to catalog it in his mind for the next mission. Well, only if he made it out of this one first.
Dabi only scoffed at his cocky nature though, lowering his eyes in order to shed some reality on the blinded birds in front of him. "You glorified bird shit, I knew from the very beginning, since the very first day you came to me asking to join the league. Trust me, you weren't fooling anyone with your pathetic little act."
And that caused Hikari to immediately feel herself pause. Hold on, if what he was saying was true then something didn't add up. No, he had to be lying, there was no way Dabi knew about Keigo's betrayal from the very beginning. He was just trying to be smart.
Because the whole entire reason she was here was for that purpose. That's why he called her all those months ago, why he was so willing to help him out in this stupid little case, and if he already knew that the hero was a traitor then he didn't really need her all this time.
Even so, the girl couldn't help but call him out of his bullshit, searching for an explanation. "Wait, hold on. That doesn't make sense. The whole reason I'm here is because you asked me to spy on Keigo and to see if he was a traitor. If you already knew this whole time then why…"
Yet that's when she saw Dabi's smile curve into a cruel smirk, one that made a sharp chill run down her spine. It was almost like he was hoping she'd connect the dots on his absurd sentence.
But even so, he wasn't denying that his previous words, he wasn't saying they were false.
That caused Hikari's head to begin to spin, trying to decipher just what was inside the stitched villain's mind. Wait, if she wasn't here to spy on Keigo, then why was all of this happening, why did Dabi show up about that job?
Just what had he been planning behind her back this entire time?
Lowering her eyes with a swirl of anxiety, Hikari's lips felt dry, forcing out her words ever so slowly in fear for the response she would get. "Dabi, why am I here?"
The villain remained silent though, staring at his best friend, taking in everything about her confused and faltering stance as she began to panic with every single second. Why are you looking at me like that? What the hell are you playing?
A moment later, her fears were answered when Dabi simply shrugged his shoulders. "Call it a social experiment. You see, I always knew how much of a simp you were for your big brother, even if you always tried to deny it. So, I brought you here to see how you would react when you found out about his dirty little secret, if you would actually condemn your darling little Kei-chan or protect him.."
Feeling her feathers flitch in shock, Dabi then turned to her big brother before giving a deep dark chuckle, like he found this current situation utterly hysterical. "And what do you know, you did protect him. You lied right to my face and erased that file just to keep him safe. How adorable, just as I expected."
The information punched Hikari's in the face all at once. Wait, there was no way. He knew she lied about changing the files, he knew that she was screwing him over this whole time and just watched it happen like some sort of sick joke?!
Just what the fuck was he talking about in the first place? Did he just invite her here to make fun of her, to laugh at her pathetic cruel heart that couldn't ever fully abandon her brother?!
The entire idea made her so pissed off that her feathers couldn't help but sharpen in lying wait. All this time, everything she did for him was all one fucking joke, wasn't it? It didn't matter if she lied to Keigo and put up a fake act, it didn't matter if she tried to cover for him. Dabi knew it all, he knew it all and fucking played her like a god damn fiddle.
All because he knew that she couldn't let her big brother go.
God damn it. He read her like a book, even before she could figure it out herself. Acting all strong and independent, saying shit about wanting Keigo dead. It was all bullshit, and it seemed like the villain already knew it.
So much so, that Hikari felt her face turn entirely red before shouting back to the man in question, feeling stupid for ever agreeing to his stupid plan in the first place. "So you did all of this to mess with me? To fuck with me? That's why you called me here, why you dragged me into all of this bullshit? Because you wanted to torture me with my idiot brother?!"
Dabi didn't seem bothered by her rising emotions though, not even moving a muscle as he stared her down with a small sly smirk at what she had suggested. "Oh please, so self centered. Not everything revolves around you, Princess. Seeing you try to hide your little secret was interesting but that's not why you're here. That was only part of my enjoyment."
Pausing ever so slightly, the girl felt her eyes raise in question. Just what the hell was he going on about now? If he didn't invite her here just to screw with her then what was the point?
Although that's when Dabi looked at the hero behind her before tilting his head to the side with knowing intent. "Would you believe it if I told you that Keigo and I go way back? Back further than your little pea brain could ever realize?"
Not understanding, Hawks' felt himself remain silent, something that caused the villain to start to sizzle and smoke as blue flames erupted from his fingertips, not liking that he was being ignored once again. "Come on, Keigo. You don't recognize me? After all these months, after all this time you really are still fucking blind, aren't you? Well then, how about I make it easier for you to understand…"
Then the two birds watched as Dabi reached into his pocket before pulling out a plastic bottle of water and unscrewing the top before throwing the piece away like it was nothing. "I think it's about time you stop calling me by that name, not when I have a much better one.."
Lifting the water upwards, the villain then dipped the bottle over until the liquid poured on top of his head as the remnants of his black hair started to disappear from sight, the color running down like ominous streaks until he was only left with the white underneath.
Widening his eyes at the sight, Hawks felt his words lodge in his throat as a heavy truck load of nostalgia rushed into him immediately, gazing at Dabi's white colored white before realization crossed his eyes in a single second.
No, wait. Dabi wasn't the right name. It never was.
As bitter memories passed through the bird, Hawks felt his entire body freeze as he looked at the man in front of him in a brand new light, the hero just barely voicing out his fears. "N-No, it can't be…T-Touya..?"
And at the sound of his real name from Hawks' lips, Touya seemed ecstatic, drowning in the bliss of being recognized and noticed. "That's right, how fucking ironic isn't it? Thought you had gotten rid of me after expelling me out of the commission, didn't you? I always wondered how you reacted, when you found out that your little betrayal ended up killing me."
Hikari couldn't help but eye the conversation with confusion though, knowing that Dabi had never told her about any of this. Of course she knew Touya was a part of the commission but he never said anything about knowing her brother. In fact, it seemed like he always wanted to steer away from the topic more than anything.
Had he been lying to her about that also?
Shaking her head, Hikari tried to rack her brain for answers to this new horrifying information. "W-Wait, you two knew each other? But why didn't you.."
Dabi seemed to answer for her though, not hiding any of his cruelty in the slightest. "Tell you? Why should I, it's not like you were smart enough to put the pieces together yourself. Even when there were so many clues you chose to ignore all of them, didn't you?"
Suddenly, all the past history with the man seemed to come rushing back as Hikari re-examined every single interaction she had with him.
How Touya knew her real name without ever saying it, how he only ever opened up to her when she was talking about Keigo, how he always seemed to speak like Keigo or react like him, how he picked out that engagement party dress that looked just like her brother's wings..
Before the girl just brushed it off but now it seemed impossible to ignore. He was right, all those things, all the things she thought were mere coincidences, they never were. God, she hated being so stupid, so utterly blind for not seeing it till now.
Hawks on the other hand was still in absolute disbelief, staring at his old friend with so much utter self hatred and shame. He never thought he would ever see Touya again, not after everything that happened. It was overwhelming, overwhelming and terrifying at the same time.
Because the things he did to him, the betrayal he willingly participated in was one of the biggest regrets he had in his entire life, next to Hikari of course. He would never forget it, the words of hatred that he received and the guilt that pooled in his chest right after.
And all this time, his old friend was right under his nose. How could he have not noticed it before? His cries for help, his desperation for Hawks to find him again. How could he have not realized it sooner?
Forcing a reply to come to his lips, Hawks tried to explain his regret, to somehow try and mend the bridge he had broken so long ago. "I-I..I'm sorry…I didn't mean for things to end up like that, okay? I never meant to.."
It seemed like the villain didn't want to hear his empty apologies though, the very words causing his body to overheat even faster in unmasked fury. "Of course you didn't, you never mean shit. All that bullshit about being friends and keeping my condition a secret. The moment you could get ahead you sold me out without even thinking, just to make those sorry heroes happy."
Chuckling to himself, Dabi then lifted up his blue laced hands before giving Hawks a feral smile in his direction, bloodlust clear in his eyes. "But lucky for you, I've come back from hell just for this moment, for you to suffer in the same way that I did for years."
And in this moment, Hawks could truly see the man that Touya had become, the broken, isolated, and betrayed man that the hero had a part in making.
When he first met the villain, the only thing he could see was a no-named enemy, but now it was very clear to see just what horrible things had brought him to his moment. He could see his friends' eyes in Dabi, he could see just how much destruction he caused along the way.
Lowering his hands in bitter memory, Dabi chuckled under his breath at the onslaught of feelings coursed through his veins, recalling that day like yesterday. "I gotta say, when you ratted me out back then, I was so furious, only thinking about how to get back at you, about what I could do in order to make you suffer the most for your mistakes. Just killing you wasn't enough. No, you needed something far more cruel."
Not understanding, Hawks felt his hands tighten on his sword before the villain turned back to Hikari with a knowing stare. "But then I remembered how you used to squawk about your precious little sister all the time, how you said that she was the most important thing in the world, about how adorable, innocent and cute she was, and about how the only reason you were doing all of this was because of her."
Vaguely recalling how he used to chat his ear off about his little sister, Hawks couldn't help but feel a sense of dread in his stomach at the man's words. Just where was he going with this?
Dabi seemed happy to continue though, his eyes never leaving Hikari's as he spoke with knowing intent. "So, when she bumped into me unknowingly that day at the commission, I got an idea unlike any other."
Finally snapping his gaze back to the hero in question, the villain then finished his sentence all at once, the very implications causing both birds to widen their eyes.
"I thought, how would Keigo react if I made his little Sister Mine?"
The entire room turned utterly silent at that, allowing Dabi to carry on as both Hikari and Hawks clung to every word in stunned silence. "And when I first met her, I realized she was just as fucking innocent, naive and stupid as you had first described her. So desperate for you to love her back, to have a fairytale and a savior that she clung to me like the pathetic little crybaby she was."
Lifting his hands upwards, the man then ignited a small flame in the middle of his palm before crushing it between his fingers in the next moment. "So I stuck around, I played into her foolish fantasies with the intention to gain her pretty little heart, to gather everything Keigo ever loved and then destroy it just like he did with my pathetic hero dreams."
Not being able to process his words, Hikari felt tears work it's way into the corner of her eyes. No, it couldn't be true. There was no way. Sure, Dabi/Touya were cruel sometimes but this, this was one a whole other level.
Because if what he was saying was true, then that meant that the only reason Touya ever hung around her, the only reason he showed her love and acceptance was to rip it away down the road, to build her up and then destroy her personally between his fingers.
Keigo, everything from the very beginning was about god damn Kiego. That was the only reason Touya approached her in the first place, because he saw the opportunity to use her, to manipulate her weak hurting heart in order to fill the void her brother left behind.
The very realization caused her sanity to disappear entirely, silently feeling her tears pour down her cheeks in a devastating and heartbreaking line. She was so stupid, falling in love with him, wanting to stay by his side forever. He was probably laughing at her this entire time, wasn't he?
Wanting confirmation for his words, Hikari managed to stutter back as her voice turned shallow and ragged with every breath. "Y-You, everything you told me…why you saved me…."
Not even giving her an ounce of mercy, Dabi only answered plainly. "Don't you get it yet? It was because I wanted to destroy the thing Keigo loved most, just like he did to me all those years ago."
That seemed to bring realization to her eyes, the reality crashing into her delusional brain before feeling her throat tighten up in order to suppress a sob in her throat. No, he couldn't see her cry, not after everything. She didn't want to give him that luxury.
Although it seemed like the man could tell she was withholding her feelings, Dabi's own expression faltering for a millisecond before covering his pity with a chuckle instead. "Didn't I tell you before, Princess? I am no hero, I'm not your knight in shining armor or some kind of prince. This isn't a fairytale, and it's your fault for being stupid and looking for one in the first place."
Recalling her past, Hikari remembered the ideal life that she dreamed about while being stuck with her abusive father, about how she wished that a hero or a prince would come save her and take her away to live in a castle forever. It was something that kept her little seven year old heart sane through even her darkest days.
That's why she was obsessed with those late night movies on the TV or the princess dresses displayed in the windows Kiego and her used to pass. She wanted it more than anything, to live happily ever after.
But then when Kiego disappeared and Touya appeared in her life, Hikari felt herself unknowingly going back to that fragile dream, projecting the image of a guardian angel or a savior in the white haired Todoroki.
And he was right, time and time again Dabi/Touya had always tried to drill in the reality, the truth that he wasn't a hero or savior, he wasn't a prince or an angel in the slightest. But ever single time, she didn't listen. She didn't want to listen.
Looking for things that weren't really there, getting caught up in the idea of someone actually wanting to stay by her side and loving her. How delusional she always seemed to be.
But then again, living in denial was so much easier than facing reality.
The reality that throughout their time together, past and present, the only thing Dabi/Touya wanted from the very beginning was to break her heart.
Although, you've done the same thing, haven't you? Only looking at this on a surface level, not bothering to see the true story that has been going on this entire time.
I tried to tell you at the start of this book, didn't I?
That things are not always what they seem.
But even so, it seemed like the villain had successfully completed his goal as in this moment, Hikari felt so utterly destroyed and broken, unable to speak as tears continued to pour from her eyes in order to stare at the man that single handedly destroyed it all.
Hawks couldn't help but watch the interaction with unkempt anger though, his little sister's tears causing the bird's feathers to sharpen immediately. How dare he, how dare Touya play around with her feelings just for the sole purpose of hurting him!
So much so that the hero felt himself race forward a moment later, eyes wild as he glared towards his old friend with a raging shout. "Y-You bastard..I'm going to fucking kill you for messing with my sister!"
Dabi only seemed to enjoy his fury though, allowing his hands to burn even brighter before laughing maniacally in his direction. "That's the look I wanted, the look I've been waiting for!"
Lifting his arms upwards, the villain burst to life, throwing a massive wave of flames in Hawks' direction as the man ran straight at him, fury and anger blinding his every movement.
The flames hit the back wall a moment later, just barely grazing Hawks' feathers as he jumped into the air in order to land behind the villain with his sword outstretched. He would show that bastard what happens when he messes with his family,
But the bird soon realized that Dabi's attacks were far more aggressive than ever before, causing him to wonder if the villain was always holding back till now.
Not even giving him a second to breathe, the villain turned around in order to counter his surprise attack before his blue colored fire pushed itself into Hawks' left wing as the entire area burst into a heavy inferno.
Gasping in pain at the action, the bird held onto his wing before flapping it back and forth in order to try and get rid of some of the burning feathers to no avail. It's like the fire was sticking to him, not stopping until it covered the entirety of his wing.
Dabi only seemed pleased with the sight though. "Maybe you shouldn't have been profiling me for months, considering I've been doing the same to you. I know your shitty little moves like the back of my hand by now, just waiting to use them!"
Forcing another massive wave of flames in the bird's direction, Hawks released a handful of feathers from his wings in order to counteract only for the villain to quickly burn them up in order to retaliate.
The bird couldn't help but widen his eyes at the man's reaction time, just barely noticing another swarm of inferno come at him, causing the hero to flap his wings to no avail, given that his entire left wing was still covered in blue flames.
Feeling the heat overtake him, Hawks' gritted his teeth in pain before rolling a couple feet away on his back as the fire caught on his other wing in order to slowly burn his feathers away into nothing, the bird watching as the bristles started to crumble before his very eyes.
The sound of slow footsteps soon resounded in the space before turning to find his ex-friend starting to approach him with knowing intent. "Poor little birdie, is that all you got? Gotta say, I'm not impressed, Keigo. Looks like the commission didn't do a good enough job with you.."
Kicking the bird in the ribs, the hero gasped before Dabi's foot raised upwards in order to press itself onto his skull, crushing the object ever so slightly as Hawks glared. "S-Shut up. You're the one that was expelled because of your quirk defect.."
The villain only pushed his booted foot deeper into the bird's skull though, covering his hurt with a dark chuckle. How dare he say that, the last thing he was, was defective. "Oh? Well, that's where you and that presidential bitch were wrong. Let me show you just how effective my quirk can be.."
Then all at once, Dabi's entire body began to burst into overwhelming fire, ignoring the burning flesh and smoking skin in order to rain down a wave of flames straight on the man in question, enjoying his pain-filled expression in the process.
And the agony Hawks felt from the villains torture was unimaginable, causing the hero to grit on his teeth so hard that it started to draw blood as he saw his burned feathers wasting away before his eyes. Fuck, he really was going to kill him, wasn't he?
Perhaps this is what he deserved after all. What had he even done for the hero world as a whole? Because right now, the bird could only see the negative, how he failed everyone in his entire life over and over again, the commission, his sister, Touya, burdened by his existence and his life.
Yet that's when the burning agony stopped as the bird blinked in surprise, forcing his eyes open only to find Dabi on the ground a couple feet away, with his sister standing over him in deadly intent. Wait, how did she do that?
The girl didn't answer though, all of her feathers detaching in a single instant before each and every one of them pointed in the direction of the villain in question, causing Dabi to eye the deadly weapons with a knowing look. "Finally decided to wake up, Princess?"
Hikari's expression didn't change in the slightest though, the tears still running down her cheeks in the process as she gritted her teeth with overwhelming emotion. It was obvious that she was still in some kind of shock.
It seemed like her feathers were the only things showing their true emotions, all of them growing closer to Dabi as the bird's shaking body took another menacingly step closer to him.
Just then, another voice seemed to shatter her insanity, the tone genuinely surprised at the display before him. "Now, just what's going on here, Takami?"
Blinking in surprise, the three then turned to find Re-Destro staring back at the carnage with a tight smile from the balcony above. Oh crap, they forgot about this guy. "How unfortunate. I really did mean for you and Hawks to perish in the agency attack. Looks like I will have to take things into my own hands now."
Although before he could even take a step closer to the group, the villain felt his eyes widen as something pricked the back of his neck, Re-Desto pausing before feeling the surface and widening his eyes at the small object between his fingers.
It was a bullet, but not just that. It was a quirk erasing bullet.
Widening his eyes in realization, Re-Destro felt his body freeze before attempting to turn around in order to face his hidden opponent.
Yet, he never got the chance, as the moment the villain tried to rotate his body, the man was met with a cool piece of metal, the barrel of a gun forcing itself right into his temple as a female voice sighed. "How unsightly."
Then the woman pulled the trigger as everyone watched as the bullet lodged itself into Re-Destro's head before the villain fell lifelessly over the railing in order to smack onto the floor in front of the group, dead.
Strolling forward in order to survey the scene, Hikari felt her entire body freeze in unnamed horror as the very monster she had feared for years started to reveal herself. The cause of her nightmares, the whole reason she was deformed and broken, was standing right in front of her. "N-No.."
The woman took her time descending the steps, looking from Twice's dead body to Hawks' burned wings before stopping right in the middle of the three as the gun danced at her side. "I thought I taught you better than this, Keigo. How embarrassing, someone like you representing the commission."
At her voice, Hawks forced his head to turn only to find the commission president standing before him, causing his mind to run with a million possibilities. Wait, why was she here? Usually the woman didn't involve her in this kind of thing.
Had he really fucked up that badly, so much so that the president needed to come clean up his mess?
Feeling ashamed for his action, the bird stuttered back through the pain in his entire body. "P-President? W-What are you doing…"
The woman only frowned though, obviously not pleased with his pathetic state. "I told you, I didn't want to clean up after your mess and now look at what you've done. Things have gotten so messy, I knew I should've assigned another to replace you months ago."
Willing his body to move, the bird was quickly met with an overwhelming amount of pain, causing his muscle to cease with a groan. The president was right, he couldn't capture Re-Destro, he couldn't protect his sister from Touya, he couldn't even complete his mission now that everything was ruined.
He really was a failure in every way possible. I-I'm sorry, I.."
The president only eyed his burning wings with disdain before shaking her head with disapproval. "Enough, I'm tired of your apologies, little boy. You have reached your expiration date anyways. Besides, I have my eyes on something far more promising."
Then the woman turned her body towards the other little bird just a couple feet away, the very motion causing Hikari's body to flinch and shake with overwhelming fear. "Takami Hikari, we meet again. You've created quite a stir since we first met each other, haven't you?"
All at once, every single horrible memory crashed into Hikari all at once, feeling a wave of nostalgia lodge inside her throat. This couldn't be happening, this couldn't be real. "H-How did you.."
Smiling in her direction, the woman only hummed, clearly enjoying her terrified reaction. "You want to tell her Touya, or should I?"
Not understanding in the slightest, Hikari's eyes began to hollow before sharply turning back to her supposed best friend with a silent stare. What the hell was she talking about? No, there was no way. He didn't, he wasn't involved in this. He knew what had happened to her in the past. He wasn't that cruel.
But unfortunately, what little faith she did have was quickly destroyed in an instant as Dabi used this opportunity of weakness in order to stand back on his feet before staring at her with his usual cold half lidded stare. "It's only fair, Princess. You're the one that decided to cross the line and work with my dear old deadbeat dad. I just did the same exact thing. Seems fair doesn't it?"
And that's when Hikari's world came crashing down completely.
Because it wasn't enough that he used her and played around with her feelings for her entire life but now he willingly brought the commission and that damn woman straight to her. He did the one thing that was irreversible in every sense of the word.
Feeling the numb shock in her brain start to dissipate into rage, Hikari felt her entire body shake with unkempt emotions as half of her sharp feathers drove straight towards Dabi without a second thought. "You called her here?!"
Dabi seemed to sense her movements though, immediately lifting his hands upwards before burning each and every one of her feathers before they could make contact with a feral smirk. "Of course, I have no more use for you after all. Now that you and Keigo know the truth my revenge is complete."
And as Hikari's sanity snapped all at once, that once numb shock that clouded her mind seemed to disappear all at once, only leaving a hot blinding rage, something she hadn't felt since Valkyrie was created three years ago.
Spitting out her words with so much unkempt emotion, the woman felt all logic disappear into the back of her head as she shouted back with pure rage. "I'm going to kill you…I'm going to fucking kill all of you!"
Dabi couldn't help but pause at that, staring at the deteriorating girl in front of her before shaking his head. Even he knew that what she was saying was out of character for her. The girl didn't kill, she never had the heart. "Careful Princess, that's not your style."
Hikari hardly seemed to care though, immediately grabbing onto her sword before racing towards the villain as the veins popped from her skin and tears cascaded along the sides openly. "DON'T CALL ME THAT."
And in that moment, Hikari was blinded by an absolute and overwhelming rage as her overflowing emotions caused her feathers to immediately go in all sorts of directions, her logic unclear as her mind cruelly tormented her with every single mistake in her life.
Screaming out a heavy shout of internal agony and external devastation, the woman felt her internal instincts take hold, wanting nothing but to ruin everyone else's lives for making her suffer.
For believing Dabi, for loving him, and for being the biggest idiot in the entire world, to stupid to ignore the signs that were right in front of her face.
Every single fucking time.
Biggest cliffhanger ever I know, but I need to head to work and the second part isn't finished yet so I decided to break it up into two halves. But dang, everything is really out in the open like that.
Let me just say, this book has been a monster to put together because from the very beginning, right in Ch1 when Touya "saves" Hikari it's always been about his master plans to use her to hurt Keigo.
That's why it's been really hard to follow the main story but then add little hints and character things for Touya that allude to his plan to screw them all over.
Why Touya always knew what to say and do to calm her down, why he stares at Hikari silently after she erases the file in S1, why he never really pushed it all that much, why the majority of his affections towards Hikari was in Hawks was watching or in the room. Everything has a purpose.
As I said before, this story was created so you can enjoy it the first time but then when you put all the pieces together you can go back and see the seeds, and the hints I've been hiding throughout the entire thing. It's the first time I've done something like this so I hope you like it.
Hence why Ch2 is called "Things Are Not Always What it Seems" considering Dabi's intentions have never been revealed until now.
But then again, this is only the first part of the end of S2. There's three seasons in total so you can bet there are some more secrets and hints that won't be revealed until the end. Just remember, right now we are in Hikari's perspective. Everything is not what it seems.
Don't forget to comment, and I should get the next part out really soon!
Next Chapter: Second part of the finale.
