AN: I don't own My hero Academia
I wanted to help
It's been 3 years since little Izuku become a part of the Todoroki family. As Endeavour expected he grew up to be quite the determined child. If there was a hurdle in his way, may it be a chair, door, person. He would find a way around it. The boy was the surprising escape artist and adventurer. The hero didn't even know children his age could even climb out of their cribs. One morning when he checked on the active baby the boy was missing from his crib. Safe to say the family freaked out. It wasn't the first time Izuku gone missing. The boy liked to travel. His ability to crawl and then walk just helped him to achieve that. It was the first time he went missing from his own crib. A look sees on a baby cam they had to install in his room revealed the boy climbed out of the crib and wandered off. It took him multiple tires, but he did it. Not long after they found him playing in the flower patch outside their garden. The united relief in all their faces were greeted with a waddling Izuku giving them each a flower while saying a new word he learned: 'Pretty.'
Izuku attics lessened over the years as he became well mannered. What was once an explorative baby that likes to overcome any obstacle that got in his way then became a boy who goes out of their way to help. Family member loses an item he's the first one to volunteer. Chores needed completing he'll do what his little body would allow him. Although that one time he attempted to take out the trash ended up with him getting stuck in the bin. Took them an hour to wash that grime off and for Izuku to stop crying sorry. Then when someone was sad, he was always hug them better. It was a habit of his when he was still a baby. When Touya was feeling stressed out Izuku would waddle up to him and give him a big hug. Same goes of Fuyumi and on the very rare occasion Rei. It never really made the older woman batter. She always wore this uncertain expression whenever he did it. Then there was the most apprehensive Todoroki sibling Natsuo. He gotten use to the little green child wondering about for the most part. The child following him around like some lost sheep at times got him ticked off a couple of times, but he slowly stopped caring. This is his life now.
Yes, the boy has integrated into their family well and has grown up quite a bit. Sure, there was still this air of awkwardness around the household. Especially since Izuku looked so out of placed with is bright green hair and eyes. It's hard not to notice him. Luckily, Endeavour has manged to keep the reporters at bay with his usual demand for privacy. It also helped that Izuku barely left the walls of Todoroki house. That will change soon with his first year of kindergarten and no doubt it will raise questions. There's already a story in the works to give to the public when the time comes. For now, Endeavour would like to enjoy the peace before he would be forced to endure the headache it will undoubtedly give him.
Endeavour sighed heavily at the thought of facing the public soon about Izuku. No matter what it only ends in a headache. While walking down the hallway he soon turned a corner. It wasn't long before he noticed something in the corner of his eye. It was little Izuku standing the garden staring up at a tree. He was all alone out there. The rest of his children were at school while his wife was nowhere to be seen. He was sure the woman was somewhere in the house. As for him it was his compulsory day off. If it wasn't, he would be out patrolling the streets at this time. Instead, he was patrolling the halls of his own home. For a brief second, he thought of calling out to the boy but then dismissed. The child would be fine without his supervision. Or so he thought.
Not even a second since that thought came pass his mind Izuku began climbing the tree. It was an odd sight. He was only using one of his arms to hold him up as if he were holding something in the other. They weren't eve strong arms to begin with. The boy was naturally skinny, so his limbs looked like twigs. Impressively, the boy still manged to get a good way up the tree reaching one of its lower branches.
He's fine. Endeavour thought while turning away.
Snap!
The hero's eyes sharpened at the sound while his instincts cut in. His heels switched directions as he dashed out into the garden. His arms outstretched ready for a catch. He felt something hit them and he curled them back while snatching the object. Flames flared around his face while he glared down at the child in his arms. "Just what were you think, Izuku," he yelled. "You could have hurt yourself or worst!"
The boy in his arms sniffed. A small tear formed at the corner of his eye. "Sorry," he whispered softly. "I wanted to help."
It was then Endeavour noticed he had more than just Izuku in his arms. Snuggled up tight in the boy's chest was the smallest little bird. It looked like most of its young fluff feathers were shaving off while their flight feathers were growing in. Looking up at the tree he did spot a nest at one of its middle branches. Other little birds just like it popped their heads out of the nest. If you listen closely you could hear their choirs of panicked chirps. The anger on the hero's face disappeared while he looked down at the boy sternly. "Even so you should have asked for help. That is quite the climb. Perhaps even bring the little bird inside to check of injuries."
"It not hurt," Izuku interjected. "I saw it fall and I got it. Its legs don't look broken and it flapped a lot." To help prove his point the little bird jumped in in Izuku's cupped hands. It was flapping its wings about trying to fly but it couldn't. It was not time yet. "Big brother Natsuo climbs this tree a lot. I thought I could do it."
It was hard to stay mad a such an earnest attempt to help a small little creature. Pair that with Izuku's natural large almost puppy like eyes and it was simply impossible. So, Endeavour carefully lifted the boy up and saddled him over his neck. "Hold on to me tightly now."
With a simple nod, Izuku cupped the bird with one hand while anchoring himself around the hero's neck with the other. "I'm ready." And so, Endeavour began climbing the tree being wary of Izuku's presents behind him. He was extra careful with his pacing to ensure the boy doesn't fall off. Once they were high enough Izuku stretch out his arms with the bird cupped in his hands. It tweeted happily once they heard their other siblings. Their voices grew louder when they got close. Soon the bird hopped right into the nest. Happy playing with its other siblings.
The timing couldn't be better as a bigger bird came flying in. Their cautious eyes scanned the situation. The little birds in the nest were chirping loudly. It was hard to ignore.
Izuku smiled and waved at the bird. "One of your babies fell so we put them back."
As if they could understand the bird twisted its head back at their babies. They flapped their way to the nest all while keeping a warry eye at the intruders nearby. A quick check helped them confirm. "Tweet."
"You're welcome," Izuku cheered. He then tugged on his father's hair. "Say you're welcome, father."
The demand made the hero huff with amusement. "You're welcome," he played along lazily.
Soon the two of them were on solid ground. They ended up sitting on the patio together with Izuku placed comfortably in Endeavour large lap. The man had his arms crossed around the boy keeping him in place. It felt warm in his father's hold. His father always felt warm. Perhaps that was the side effect of his quirk. Even so Izuku was happy to be in them. He felt so safe in them. Peacefully, they glazed out at the beauty of their simple garden. A couple of butterflies visited the flower patches. The pound was glistened with sunlight as small stream trickled down the rocks. A massive and thick wall of off-white surrounded them on all sides. It was peaceful. It was safe. It was home.
Endeavour stroked the boy's head causing him to look up. The man wore a frown and a set of stern eyes. "You should be more careful, Izuku. You could have broken an arm. Maybe even your head." Then he picked up one of the boy's arms. They really looked like sticks compared to his large hands. The more he looked at them the more he could easily image them braking in his hands. He didn't like that thought at all. "You are eating properly. Aren't you? You are so thin it's concerning. Perhaps we should see a doctor for a dietary plan."
"I'm eating, I'm eating." The boy assured hoping to lessen his father's worries. "I eat all my vegetables and drink lots and lots of milk. I know! I'll drink even more milk. Then I'll grow faster and be as strong as you and big brother Touya."
"heh…" what an amusing statement. He really failed in keeping a straight face whenever Izuku talks. The small child just says the most amusing things. "You want to become as strong as us? That's quite the challenge. Are you sure you're up for it?"
"Yes!" Izuku said proudly without hesitation. He jumped up on his father's lap and turned his body to face him. At this position, his head just met the man's chin, but he could still look him in the eye. "I'll work really, really, really hard. Then when my quirk comes, I will work even harder. I'll be like father and Touya and become a hero," he happily announced. "You haven't forgotten, right? You promised you'd train me when my quirk shows. It should be soon, right? When I turn 4?"
"I haven't forgotten," Endeavour assured while patting the child's head. "And during that time, yes. It could be earlier that year or later. You might have some trouble like did Natsuo so be patient. It will come when it comes." With a boy this eager to learn. It was hard to deny his request. At first, his only concerns were to train Touya to be his successor. He's still going to do just that, but what's the harm in letting Izuku join. If he wanted to learn then so be it. Whatever quirk the child ended up having he'll figure out a training regime to cater to it. The thought was quite exciting. Since they had no idea who Izuku's biological parents are they didn't know what quirks he would inherit. It will be a surprise for all of them. Although looking at him he might have some sort of nature quirk. What with all the green. That would be interesting. "We still need to know what your quirk is first. Then we can come up with a train plan to best suit it."
Izuku couldn't contain his excitement. His smile reached all the way to his ears while his arms outstretched to the sky. "I hope I get a fire quirk like you and Touya. Then I can be with both of you no problem."
"Careful now. Fire can be quite deadly. You could burn yourself or we can burn you." He warned.
Innocently, Izuku tilted his head in confusion. "But Touya and father would never burn me, right?"
Endeavour gave the child a reassuring nod. "That's right. I swear as the number two hero. No harm will come to you." Then he embraced the child into a hug. Of course, Izuku happily accepted putting his stick like arms around his neck. It swore it a long time ago. Weather if was conscious or unconscious he will ensure this child's safety.
AN: And so, we have small child/toddler Izuku. I know most of you are waiting in anticipation for him at the age of 4 but you forget. Quirks don't appear when they turn 4. It's somewhere during that year or earlier. They won't be question anything until Izuku closer to 5 when he definitely should have manifested a 'quirk'. So, don't expect that event yet (even though I already made it) there are still some building blocks events before we get to that.
Cyber-RK18 – I have done what was requested of me, but I will say it here. This fic we will continue. Considering my list is very long there might be a day where I split it into a squeal. Or not depending on how far I'm willing go.
Papireaz – it's not like I can't write Rei in more. I could have easily added her in the previous event restabilising her jealously. I could have done it for this event. It just feels wrong for me to increase her appearance frequency when she's supposed to be an absent parent in Izuku's life. Always there yet not at the same time. it would also be kind of repetitive. She'll have more appearances frequent after the turning point, but it won't be as much as others.
Knightwalker405 – baby Izuku has been fun, but we can't stay in the fluff zone forever. Even if this chapter was still fluffy.
Guest 1 and 2 – a part of me believes this is the same person. Mainly because they asked the same thing. Which I counter with I already update mostly once a week. What more do you want to form me? If you want an exact time It's usually either Saturday night or Sunday morning since I tend to post very late. I am night owl and end up posting at midnight my time. UK. Although it's usually a Saturday evening now a days. These style of chapters as so much less taxing than my usual. At times I do switch it up. Like today. still nearing midnight on a Friday.
Dreamer-Sara – the bitter sweetness will continue since these guys aren't going to find out for a while. Sorry Izuku.
Persephone-Gaia – I too wanted Izuku's first word to be Endeavour with the wish of his second to be a variation of dad. Little boy loves his fire father.
Liziliza – the betrayal. 'I thought you loved me Izuku'. In other news Endeavour has accepted his role as father. Let's see how well he plays it shall we.
nishiki935 – thanks here's the next part.
fencer29 – I don't what to say. I'm just laughing back here. Yeah, it so true. Fume is so cold compared to 'No' and 'Faer'. Maybe if she learns the game rules Izuku will be more interested to her lessons.
I love reading123453 – well good to know you're having fun. I'll probably remain with frequent updates until the end of the season.
WolfCerberus – again I will say nothing about the quirkless reveal event. It's already sent in stone since I've already write. It and will come when it comes. Also, Izuku is the most adorable.
Guest 3? – I swear this is the same person as the others. Once again, I will say I update this at least once a week. On a rare of occasions, I do a double update in one week but only if it's complete and if I feel like it. Like this one for example. A little earlier than my usual because this is complete for a while. And I thought to myself this evening while I read through this one last time. Why not? And here we are. Although I will say I admire your enthusiasm.
That's all for now next time…Izuku has a question.
