AN: I don't own My hero Academia
A cute picture
It was early in the day. The sun was shone brightly in a clear blue sky. Endeavour looked up at its blueness and exhaled a deep tired breath. Today was going to be a lot harder than it should have been thanks to his outburst. Even so, they must march on. He couldn't show any weakness to those dogs. The hero turned to his children and sternly looked down at them. "Are you lot ready?"
The children saluted to their father, "yes sir." They were lined perfectly in a single file. Each one of the older Todoroki children had a firm determined expression. Like they were ready for war. All that was missing was the battle paint. They were dressed perfectly in uniform. Fuyumi was in a deep navy blue with a matching plaid knee-length skirt. The boys were all in black with golden buttons running down the left side of their shirt.
Izuku was the only odd one out in the group. His uniform looked like a little suit. With a small red tie, a navy blazer and plaid pants. To complete like look he had a matching little beret with a white rim. It didn't fit his head too well since his curls demand to be let loose. The small child looked more confused than anything when he looked up at his much taller siblings. What was with the sudden seriousness? Should he try and salute too? He did a clumsy salute in the end thinking he should just follow his siblings.
Endeavour nodded at them and looked forward. His eyes hyper focused. "Now remember. Stay close to me. Do not break formation. Do not say anything to anyone. Do not look at anyone. Especially in the eye. I swear they get wilder that way."
"Huh?" Izuku spouted out confused as he was walled in by the bodies of his family members. What is happening?
It became a tradition within the Todoroki family that when their child comes of age to go to school Endeavour would escort them there for at least the first week. This was because ever since Touya was bombarded with paparazzi the first time the boy become late for school. Was even slightly scar from being surrounded by so many people and flashing lights. He didn't want to go out of the house, but Endeavour forced him too. This time with him by his son's side to scare away the wild dogs. It worked swimmingly. Most were too afraid to come even close to the flame hero. The few brave souls that did got an earful lecture. In the end, most thought it wasn't worth it and there would be more interesting stories to report on. Articles that came out were mostly positive. Praise Endeavour for protecting his son as well as bad mouth their own who harassed a 4-year-old kid and their poor mother.
When Fuyumi came about Endeavour did the same thing. Sure, enough the paparazzi were waiting, and he was prepared. He walked with his daughter and son in hand glaring them down. Once again, they ran once, they got their picture. They needed the quick buck story. Things got quieter for Natsuo. Perhaps because the story wasn't as exciting as it once was. Endeavour has a new kid. Been there done that. That didn't stop Endeavour from escorting each of them and for one brave soul to run up an take a picture. Things are a little different now. If it was just Endeavour new biological child, it would be quieter. Now that the rumours have been confirmed that he adopted the paparazzi were once again wild. Even more so after that interview.
The Todoroki family took the form of a turtle battle formation. Endeavour spearheaded the way. His broad body acting as a shield for his children. Not too far behind on either side were Fuyumi and Natsuo. The brother and sister shot their heads from side to side. Watching out for the mad crowd that would surely surround them. Taking up the rear was the eldest Todoroki also on the lookout. Occasionally, he'd glanced back at his siblings ensuring their care. Then there was the littlest and youngest dead set in the middle. He held the hands of his brother and sister Fuyumi and Natsuo. Curiously, he looked around at his much bigger family members wondering why they were so tightly packed together as they walked. He would soon find out.
Like a swarm of bees to honey, they came in droves. Flashes of lightly cameras lights snapped in all directions. Demands of voiced calling out of them to look their way echoed. The young Todoroki siblings jumped at the suddenness and clustered closer together. Poor Izuku was trembling thinking they were under attack. He jumped into his older brother arms for safety. Endeavour on the other hand remained…calm wasn't the right word. Calm before the storm was a better phrasing for it. The flames on his faces flared wildly while his eyes burned white. "Do you mind!" He roared silencing the crowd, "We are trying to get through. And I'm sure other parents are too. So, stop obscuring the entry and get out of our way!"
Then a new voice cut through the crowd. "Alright break it up people get out! This is a private school property. Don't make me call the police." Just like that, the crowd dispersed like mice caught by a predator. A woman jogged onto the scene. "I'm so sorry about that, Mr Todoroki. I didn't think there would be so many of them. We haven't had an incident this big since Touya. Lovely to see you three again by the way. Hope you're all doing well."
"Yes miss," the Todoroki siblings chimed together. Expect for Izuku who was still holding tightly on to Touya. Hiding his face in their shoulder.
The woman bent down with a welcoming smile. "This must little Izuku. Hello, their sweetie. Sorry for the scare."
"I change my mind." He whimpered. His hand gripping on Touya's shirt silently begging to not be let go of. "I don't want to go to school. The outside is scary."
"It's ok. The creepy people with the cameras are gone." Touya assured while patting his little brother's back.
"What if they come back?"
"I'll punch them," Endeavour answered with a deadpan tone of seriousness.
Fuyumi panicked and shot a look of concern to her father. "Dad! That's not right. You're only allowed to punch people unless they're villains."
"They trespassed on private property and harassed my children. This is not the first time. I would say that falls under villainous jurisdiction," the hero justified himself. The scariest thing was he looked and sounded absolutely serious.
Then Natsuo, shot up a hand and piped out a question: "Can I punch them too?"
Endeavour paused for a moment but only a moment. Then he nodded. "I'll allow it. For self-defence."
The boy cheer while punching the sky, "yeah!"
The woman chuckled nervously, "Oh Mr Todoroki. I didn't think you were much of a joker. Now let's get Izuku inside and the rest of you can run along to the main building.
The siblings chimed a yes while Touya handed Izuku to the woman. The green book looked panicked. His big green eyes called out to them. Begging them not to leave him alone. "Do you have to go?"
"Yes," Endeavour stated firmly while stroking down his head. "You'll be alright I promise. I'll be back for you and your siblings by the end of the day. So, wait for me." Izuku grabbed the man's large hand with both of his smaller ones. They held t has tightly as they could. The boy did want to let go or have his father leave him. It was almost heart-breaking. Taking a deep breath Endeavour looked Izuku in the eye with a firm gaze. "You're going to need to be brave. This is only the first day. After that I won't be as scary. I promise. It will be over before you know it."
"Ok," Izuku sniffled. "I'll be brave."
After a few quick goodbyes with the rest of the Todoroki siblings. Endeavour went on his way to his agency. Although he couldn't help but feel a pair of his eyes watching him. It wasn't unnatural given the fact the paparazzi will be on his tail until they're bored of him. He just hoped they won't bother the children that much. Or they'll have to deal with them directly...again.
For next week Endeavour diligently brought his children to and from school. As expecting the paparazzi were more feisty than usual. The school had to call the police on one occasion. Even parents sent their complaints. As promised Natsuo did manage to land a punch on of the reporters. They tried to spin a story that Endeavour raises his children to be unhinged and brutes like him. Then angry parents of other children from the school swamped in defence. Saying that they shouldn't have been harassing a child half their height.
There were even video leaked out showing a completely different story. The reporter in question just so happened to grab Fuyumi who was holding Izuku. Then Natsuo came into their defence and punch the aggressive reporter off. The story of Endeavour raising his children to be monsters was shattered and turned into raise them to be heroes. Honestly, many were impressed that Endeavour had yet to raise a hand at them. Any normal person would be understandably angered. With Endeavour's legendary temperament one would think it was a disaster in the making. Yet Endeavour kept his cool and got ready some lawyers. After that incident, the paparazzi have gotten way too fearful to get close to the Todoroki family. Endeavour didn't take any chances. Even after the traditional one-week escort was over he continued to escort the children a little longer. Even going as far as carrying Izuku personally. His eyes were always alert for danger. Came with the job.
Izuku was frantic. Since the first mob, he witnessed he wanted nothing more than to return home and stay home. Not like kindergarten offered much for him to look forward too. Having more playmates were nice but he much preferred the company of his own siblings. Watching in the background of Natsuo gaming sessions. At times being his player two even if he wasn't good at the games half of the time. So, he was mostly his little cheerleader and snack retriever. Fuyumi would play tea parties and the occasional house. The girl liked to dress him up from time to time and pretend he was a baby again. Then he would watch TV with Touya if he was ever available. It was rare but he still loved to snuggle with him on the living room couch. Sure, he was lonely when his siblings were at school, but he'd rather be lonely than deal with a mob of reporters. Thankfully as the mobs grew less and less and he grew more comfortable with the other kids in his grade he liked kindergarten. He hasn't found a friend yet. Just kind of mixed with whoever. Many were curious about him since he was the adoptive son of the number 2 hero.
When the mobs stopped coming, he noticed something other kids did with their parents. Before saying goodbye for the day many of them gave each other hugs or more interestingly exchange kisses. Either on the cheek or forehead. His father did none of that for him or his siblings. The closest he's done was a pat on the head or shoulder. When a few times his mom joined them, she would hug him and his siblings. When It came to him not so fondly, but it was something. Now that he thought about it, he has never seen any of his siblings try something like that either to their father. Did they just don't do it? He just couldn't stop thinking about it. His father was a hard person he knew that. Frowning often and never showing a sign of weakness on his face. especially in public. He always looked and acted in control of any given situation. Even so, he couldn't help but wonder. If he wouldn't do it maybe he should. So, one day…
Endeavour stare at the small green child in front of him. His other children have already left for the day, yet he stayed put. Leaning over him, he asked, "Is something wrong?"
Izuku shyly looked down while twiddling his fingers. "Can you bend down for a moment, father?"
Still confused, Endeavour did as asked wondering what the boy wanted What happened next completely stunned him.
Izuku jumped and peeked the man on the cheek. "Have a good day at work. Beat up a lot of bad guys." He quickly gave the sunned hero a hug and dashed off before he could even respond.
Endeavour still knelt had his mind slowly try to comprehend what just happened. In all his years of having children they never once looked at him as fondly as this child did. Or were bold enough to do such a simple affectionate act. He supposed it didn't matter much. The only reason he had children, to begin with, was to create an offspring that could eventually surpass All Might. Their fear and jitteriness never bothered him. Only one of them had the potential to fulfil that purpose. That was all he needed. What the rest of them did or thought of him never mattered. Yet he could never dismiss this light feeling he had wherever he was round this boy. The child shared none of his blood was the child most willing to show his boundless heart. He touched his kissed cheek and chuckled. "What an odd child."
"You can say that again." Quickly, Endeavour turned around to see a tall, slender man with a defined chin jaw. His irises were dark and mismatch in size. With his right eye iris being the smaller of the two. His dark, wavy hair softly curled at his shoulders. A gentle smile was placed on his lips while he held up at hand. "I would imagine most children would be too afraid to be in your presence. Let alone be brave enough to kiss you on the cheek."
Instantly, Endeavour stiffed into a stern pose. His back straightened, his chin high and his arm crossed. His eyes scanned the stranger with distrust. "You are you?"
"I'm Taneo Tokuda," he greeted honestly. As a peace offering, he handed a picture to the hero. "Here I took this. It's a pretty cute picture."
The picture was of the exact moment Izuku kissed Endeavour on the cheek. His little feet on the tiptoes while Endeavour eyes were shot wide with surprise. It was a perfect image. But Endeavour didn't notice any cameras. Nor was there's usual chick and flash. The question of when he did have it was also of concern. Endeavour shifted a sharp pair of eyes at the man. "Why are you giving me this? I would assume this picture would bring you quite the pay-check."
The man shrugged with a sheepish grin. "Well, it didn't feel right. That moment looked too personal to be shared to thousands of people. It should be something special shared between father and son." He explained. "besides I'm sure I can find another story for my boss. Pictures are my speciality." He laughed at himself, but he was the only one thinking it was humorous. The hero's eyes were still locked on the stranger with daggers ready to strike. The man's lack of trust was warranted but he could not help but laugh more. "You know you changed, Endeavour."
Arching an eyebrow, Endeavour sharpness soften to curiosity. "How so?"
"You're more…chill recently," was the best way the journalist could describe the hero's recent behaviour. He didn't look nearly as angry as he always has during the job. He wasn't smiling either like their number 1. Yet there was this certain content in his eyes he couldn't quite describe. "Does your adoptive son have anything to do with it? He is very cute. I wouldn't blame you for going a little soft because of him."
"What are you talking about?" Endeavour spat finding the photographer's statement. It was absurd "I am simply doing my duties as a father nothing more nothing less."
"Whatever you say, sir," he said with a half-hearted two finger salute. With that, the journalist turned away and walked off with his hands in his pocket. "I look forward to seeing you change more even if it's only a bit."
Endeavour clicked his tongue. What an annoying man. His eyes then travel back at the picture in his hand. It did look rather odd as well as pure. He really couldn't think of a time any of his biological children attempted to show such affection outwardly like this. Any memories he had when they were Izuku's age were of them running form him. Izuku never ran. Only if it was towards him. His sharp eyes soften the more he looked at the pure moment. A little grin cracked on his stern hard face. "Me going soft. How ridiculous. I'm just doing my job as a father. It's Izuku that's the odd one." He then carefully placed the image in his pocket and headed off to work.
AN: An early update since I'm way beyond schedule for now. I think I've been to use to writing long chapters. I've underestimated by speed. Anyway, Endeavour has found a child unafraid of him. Also Does anyone remember the journalist from the season 4 recap. Because I did and this event was created.
SpectacularSpidey – I will do both. First off. Yeah fair. This is a known and common problem of mine. No matter how many times I read through my work. Double, triple etc times check. There is always some form of errors. It annoys me to know end, but I have learned to accept it and correct it when I have the time and energy.
Secondly, fair again. I don't know if I'd call this a sitcom anymore. Although I guess this event goes in that category. I'd say it's more like a mini light-hearted drama. Also, I tended to write a lot and so my chapters usual ended up being long. The things I've been doing is like a third of what they usually are. But it suits this type of series of interlocking events. Glad you're enjoying it so far.
Lightgiver – nope just the press. These people are hungry for a story to sell.
Rychan6 – yup. Just yup.
Papireaz – well here it is. It's pretty cute. Savoury it while you can.
Hi its me aka 'a friendly dude' – I will do both at once. Firstly, I'm not really offended. I just thought I might as well clear that up since it's been said. Secondly, I use what the name tag says but if you want to be called a friendly dude then sure.
Now on to the other one. I don't know the last event felt off too me. Maybe because I reworked it a lot. I felt unsure by the end of it, but it had to be done for Rei's character progression. Also haven't seen Fuyumi in a while. As for your question this is answered in my summery. Our little green boy is quirkless. Although if I were to give him a quirk, I would love to give him a stronger version of Inko's quirk. I can see him using it to get hugs form his family members minus Rei. I can't help but imagine Natsuo trying to run away and failing. Or a combo. I don't own credit for this quirk idea, but someone made a combo quirk of Izuku's parents where he has the ability to pull out heat form the surrounding area. This is perfect for this family as the main draw back to both Touya and Endeavour's quirk is overheating. Izuku can just absorbs their heat to prevent that. Allowing them to fight on longer or in Touya's case not scar. And he can fight with then using their own fire.
As for your quirk suggestion it's interesting. But as I said the kid's quirkless so I won't be using it I'm afraid.
Daniaaall – thank you and I will. This will go on for quite some time.
Guest – I won't say much about Rei but for the sake of plot things will happen.
IReadAnjani – there Is a Shouto. We won't be seeing him anytime soon. This is solely a Todoroki family season of events.
Liziliza – Rei…is at least calm. Still not exactly stable but she not at boiling hot water yet. And agree but who's the better sibling. Touya or Fuyumi.
SilverWolf227- it will be something. Although I'm pretty sure everyone can imagine how Rei will react.
MariaHikari – I say nothing on the quirkless reveal event. Other than the count down to it is getting thinner. Not long now.
TheHatter1 – this is an interesting way to see Rei. I will neither confirm nor deny if you're right.
Well, that's all. Next on the list. Endeavour finally lets Izuku do the one thing he hasn't been allowed to do.
