AN: I don't own My hero academia

Useless to you

It started off innocent enough.

"You're getting so good at writing your name, Izuku," Fuyumi cooed looking over the child's sheet. He had a simple homework to learn how to write his own name and a couple of simple words like mother and father. While his handwriting was a little messy it was still readable. Best part was he learned those words mostly by heart and don't need to look at a reference anymore. "Izuku, is so smart." She praised while messing his curl.

"I'll say," Natsuo commended while poking at the child's forehead. "Maybe you have an invisible quirk like me."

Confused, Izuku pushed away Natsuo's poking finger. "What's an invisible quirk?"

"It's a quirk that you can't see anything happen. Doesn't have any physical things or make things happen. So, it's hard to know it's there like it's invisible. Mine for example," the boy explained. Izuku has gone past the age quirk usually appeared so the small boy was worried. His family members were less so since they had something similar. "I was a late bloomer too you know. Well not as much as a late bloomer as we didn't see it. Couldn't figure out my quirk till I was 5ish maybe 6ish. You probably don't remember since you were baby," He started off.

Yes, he was the odd one out of his siblings. Touya inherited a fire quirk. Fuyumi an ice quirk. They expected Natsuo would inherit an ice quirk as well given his looks but that was not the case. When Natsuo quirk failed to appear on time the family was of course worried. They took him to the doctors, and they said everything seemed normal. So, they suggested to wait a little longer and come back another time if it still hasn't shown. It was an infatuating wait for Natsuo and everyone else. That's why for a change they decide to go somewhere they haven't been for a long time if at all. "We were visiting grandparents that Christmas. You remember that? We headed up to their place that year for the first time."

Izuku shook his head. He could remember that at all. The child was young at the time at least he guessed. He knew he had grandparents, but they don't visit much or at all from his memory. His mother talks to them quite regularly. Sometimes she'd have his siblings talk to them for a minute or two. He was usually excluded form through times. Not that he minded. The thought of talking to people he barely knew made him shy to begin with.

Then Fuyumi cut in taking Izuku attention before his little mind wondered somewhere else. "It's rare to see mom's mom and dad since they live so far away. They're far north in the countryside so it's difficult. I'm sure we'll visit them again one day." Then something came to her mind she found odd. It only just occurred to her now they were talking about it. "Come to think about it, we never meet dad's parents. He doesn't talk about them much." It's true. While her mother was clearly close to her parents. Mainly her own mother. Their father barely talks about his. They never so much as seen a picture of them. They had to exist, or their father won't have. It was a mystery the more and more she thought about it.

Natsuo leaned back into his seat with uncaring relief, "Frankly, I'm glad. If they made someone like dad. I can only imagine how terrifying they are." Soon an image of the possible pair came to mind. They were massive. Like giants surrounded by hellfire and bellowing wicked laughter. Both with define muscles. Even the lady because his dad had to have gotten them form someone. Might as well be both parents given the man's ridiculous size. For whatever reason, the child image them to have his father's exact face with even angrier set of eyes. They looked almost condescending as he could faintly hear their evil laughter now. It set shivers down his spine.

"Natsuo, that's not very nice," Fuyumi snapped back. She wasn't Endeavour's biggest fan, but she still thought of the man as her father. It's not like she could change that. She can't deny the man can and was usually terrifying. His size and natural angry expression didn't make he look all to friendly. So, it wasn't a far stretch that his parents would be too. Even so she won't judge a pair she has never met before.

"Made dad?" Izuku asked innocently. "What you mean by that?" His two older siblings looked at their youngest brother. His doe eyes weren't helping the situation. They both patted a hand on his little shoulder and said he was too young to know. "To young to know what?"

Both siblings rather not have this conversation with him. This was a job for their parents. They distracted him by continuing the pervious story. Using one shocking fact that will surely get the little one's attention. "Anyway. We went to see grandma and grandpa up north. It was a long road trip. I was bored. So, I stole your Endeavour doll and hanged it out the window." It was an ingenious plan in young Natsuo head.

It did the job. "You did what!" Izuku screamed while quickly snatching up Mini Endver who was hidden under the boy's desk. Protectively, he twisted his body away from his brother. Making sure they wouldn't see his beloved toy.

Natsuo huffed with a pout. "You got it back…eventually. Anyway, you cried like usual. Touya and Fuyumi yelled at me to give it back. They couldn't do anything since you and I were alone in the back. Then dad stared yelling. I opened the window. There was a blizzard outside, and the thing flew out the window."

Horrified at the retelling of this story he had no memory of, Izuku hugged his toy even harder. The child was about to cry again. "Why would you do something to mean, to Mini Endver?" The stuff toy didn't do anything to anyone. It couldn't. It was a stuff toy whose only crime was being very huggable. At least for little Izuku.

"I was bored," the boy tried to defend himself only to receive an even more horrified looked from his young, adopted brother and the snake eyes form his sister. Feeling a little guilty, despite how long it has been, he shrunk his head in his shoulders. "And stupid. I didn't mean to take it that far. The toy just kind of… slipped…out the window."

"You made Izuku cry for the rest of the day," Fuyumi jabbed slyly while poking a finger at Nasuto's side. The boy jumped and glared at her. She stuck her tongue out at him before moved up to Izuku. The girl cuddled him closely to calm his oncoming tears. As if the old childhood memory was floating back to the surface. It was traumatising. "We tried everything to calm you down, but you just kept asking for your plushie. So, dad had to dress up in his hero costume and carry you the whole time. It was the only way to stop you from crying." The girl smiled fondly at the old memory. It was a man panic the second they entered their grandpas as home since Izuku won't stop crying one bit. They giving them an early present but baby Izuku was completely disinterested.

'Endver! Endver Endver!' he kept crying repeatedly.

It was then decided that Endeavour would wear his hero costume. It did the job and baby Izuku dubbed his father 'big Endver'. One thing off about 'big Endver' was he turned off his flames while holding the baby. For safety. This displaced the baby, so they relented by smacking the man's face asking for 'fire'. Endeavour tired to argue to the 1-year-old but they kept smacking his face until they resorted to their ultimate weapon. Crying. It was then Endeavour gave in and put on his flame features. Only lightly. While holding the baby's hands down. They were ok with that and quickly fell asleep. "Dad could never say no to you when you started crying. Which was a lot by the way." Nasuto teased.

"Ok," Izuku whispered while turning slightly red. He hid his face behind his precious toy. "What happened next."

"Well, I felt to bad I decided to seek out of the house in the middle of the night. Braise through the frozen blizzard. And retrieved you lost doll." Nasuto stated proudly. Izuku looked genuinely amazed by the story. Then again, he was always easy to amaze. Fuyumi just rolled her eyes at his dramatics, but she'll let him have this. Just this once. "When I eventually got back everyone panicked to warming me up. Thinking I was freezing. I was somehow completely fine despites wondering in a blizzard for hours. It was then we discovered my quirk. Sub-zero tolerance which is just a cold way to say I can deal with very cold temperatures. Pretty lame huh?"

"I think it's amazing!" Izuku yelled out with stars in his eyes.

Cheekily, Natsuo picked and stretched out the child's chubby freckled face. "You think every quirk is amazing. Even Fuyumi's useless frost quirk."

"It's not useless." Izuku different. "If someone's feeling really hot. Like how sometimes Touya and father get then she can cool them down."

Fuyumi chuckled along and planted a kiss on her little brother's head. "You're too sweet Izuku. Unlike Natsuo."

Annoyed Natsuo clicked his tongue. "Yeah right. And what about me? Unless my density is to become a penguin in the north pole. It's pretty useless."

Izuku rubbed his chin thinking of the possibilities. There weren't many he could think of at top of his head, but he still manged to think of some rather quickly. "Well, if someone's lost in a blizzard you can find them without being slowed down by the cold. Also, if a villain has an ice ability them you won't get too effective by them. I'm sure there are a lot of other things too."

Natsuo hummed in thought thinking of the possibility. "You think so? Well, I guess it doesn't matter much for me. I don't really want to go into the hero industry. Looks too hard. I'll leave that stuff to Touya." His eye wondered back to Izuku's writing sheets. He noticed something about the character in his name he never really saw before. He pointed to the last one. "Hey, did you notice you got the characters for useless in your name. It kind of looks like Deku the more I look at it."

Both Fuyumi and Izuku looked at the character. With Izuku's limited knowledge he couldn't see it right away. Fuyumi did after a closer examination. She couldn't think of what to make of it. "well technically it means wooden doll or puppet. But its dose has connotations of a useless person. Not that your useless, Izuku. It's just the characters. It doesn't mean anything."

"Maybe it's a sign that your quirk is a useless one. Like me a Fuyumi," Natsuo joked received a firm slap to the head by his sister. He still though it was worth it.

Izuku didn't hold any ill will. He only smiled at his two older siblings. "I don't mind what my quirk is. So long as I can help and fight with father and brother Touya. I don't care want it is."

The two other siblings glace at each other and smiled. They both roughed up his curls making him laugh at their touch. "You really want to be a hero huh?" It was obvious since he was a baby. They way his young eyes looked up at their father. He never stopped looking at the hero with such pure idolisation. Perhaps since back then he made up his mind. He wanted to stand beside that man. That means following on the hero's path along with their elder brother.

Excitedly, Izuku nodded his head. Hoped gleamed in his star blinded eyes. "I hope I get my quirk real soon."

He was so hopeful.

"I'm sorry to tell you sir, but I don't think this boy is likely to get a quirk."

This. This one line caused all his hopes to crash down all the child's hopes and dreams. His entire world. The expectations he placed on himself. All gone with just one sentence. Shattered with the pieces falling around him. His world was suddenly dark and numb. A barren void of nothing. Stunned, Izuku's sat silently beside his father. His bright eyes were duller. As if he wasn't all there anymore. Since the boy hadn't shown any sign of a quirk manifesting, they decided to bring him to a doctor. Natsuo had to go through a similar process so they weren't all too worried. He might have been a late bloomer or had an invisible quirk they have yet to discover. Unfortunately, that wasn't the case.

Endeavour stared at the doctor with shock disbelief. Quirkless. The condition was very rare. Even more rare now. In a world of super humans those without power are far and in between. That didn't mean it was impossible. He took a quick glance at his son. The boy's head was down. His curls covered half his face hiding his expression in shadows. He couldn't image it was a good one. Not went he was holding on to his little plushie as if it would disappear. He looked to the doctor again. "Are you sure about this? You haven't found anything abnormal about the boy at all the suggest otherwise."

Firmly, the doctor shook his head. "As requested, we ran all the tests on, Izuku here. None of the results suggest anything. He's a perfectly normal and heathy child. The real concern his this." The doctor gestured to the screen next to him. There popped up an x ray imagine of Izuku's foot. "After finding zero anomalies in, Izuku's body one stood out the most. You see as humanity evolved with quirks; we find that we lose this join in our pinkies. The current theories are that it helps us be more streamline. The fact that Izuku still has this join like many other quirkless suggest that he is one as well. I'm sorry but he's highly unlikely to get a quirk."

Sombrely, Endeavour nodded his head. It took one final glace at Izuku. The boy's body still unchanging. Almost like a lifeless doll. "I see. Thank you for your time doctor."

When the pair came back home, they were rushed by the excited faces of the other children. Surprisingly, Natsuo was the one to take the lead. "You're finally back! You guys took like forever. So, what they say?" He asked while bouncing up and down on his toes. "you got an invisible quirk didn't you. They scanned your brain or something and found out it's something to do with intelligence. Come up just tell me I'm right. I got a 500 yen bet to win."

Izuku couldn't match the boy's excitement much to Natsuo surprise. The small child hid behind his father's leg unable to face him. His little hand allowing his plushie to dangle by its arm. He pressed his body right on his causes. Natsuo tried to get closer but Izuku just slither back further. His other siblings who at first greeted them with smiling faces now wore looks of confused verging into concern. The lack of answer even got Rei curious. She lugged behind her children.

Seeing Izuku desperation to hide, Endeavour took a step forward shielding the boy from his other siblings. "Natsuo, step back."

"But why?" The boy asked genuinely confused. "What happened?"

Endeavour could feel Izuku's little hands squeeze on his legs harder. It made him choke. Calmly he tried to explain the matter at hand. "From what the doctor said Izuku will most likely will not develop a quirk. He's what we call quirkless."

Natsuo was even more confused. He's never heard of a quirkless person before. He didn't even know those exist. In this superhuman society it's hard to imagine. His siblings looked more shocked than anything. They couldn't even begin to imagine what was going on in their little adoptive bother's mind. He was waiting patiently for his quirk to arrival. They all were. The mystery of his parentage only added to the excitement. For this to happen it was less underwhelming and more horribly shocking. "So, he's not getting a quirk. Like ever?" Natsuo asked. Still couldn't fully wrapped his mind on the concept.

"No, Natsuo. He will not." Endeavour answered solemnly.

Then news made Rei grin from ear to ear. The was wicked amusement gleaming in her eyes while she carefully listened to the events playing before her eyes. Her prayers were answered. It was all she could have hoped for and more. After all what was weaker than a unless quirk than someone without a quirk at all. It was all too perfect. "HAHHHHAHAHHA" she cackled loudly unable to contain her amusement.

This rightfully so disturbed the rest of her family. Her children looked at her with confused and concern as her laughter grew more erratic. Izuku, on the other hand, held his father's leg even more. Her laugher terrified him. Even the great hero endeavour was a loss of words as he watched his wife descended into madness.

Their eyes met for a second. The cold almost psychotic glee in her grey eyes brought shivers to their spine. "How unfortunate for you. The child you doted on all these years turned out to be a weakling. So pathetic. I was worried at first. If I had chosen wrong by taking him. I'm happy to see I made the right decision in the end. Now you have no choice but to love Touya more," she said in an all too happy tone. It was chilling. The way she smiled so happily decided the thick air in the room was all too creepy. "How does it feel to have loved a child completely useless to you!"

That hit a cord within Izuku. His grip on his father's legs loosened. The emotions he kept silent suddenly bubbled up in his throat. For the first time since they after his appointment he spoke with a whimper. "I'm unless?"

His broken tone sank the hearts of his family members. Even Rei, who was the thrilled by the news, was immediately silent after hearing that.

Izuku stumbled away from his father. His head remained plated down while he held his only source of comfort. His endeavour plushie. He tried to hide his face in its soft flame stuffed flames. "I don't have a quirk. So, I'm useless…" the boy hiccupped. Each jump of his chest felt more painful than the next. Tears streamed down his cheeks while damping the flames of his plushie. He just felt so…word can even fully describe it. "I…I can't help Touya or father. I can't help anyone!" He stuttered with a scream. He dropped his plushie below his chin and pressed it into his chest. He hoped it could soften the pain in his heart, but it didn't. It only grew worst with each passing second. "I'M JUST A USLESS DEKU!" With that the boy ran and never looked back.

"IZUKU!" He could hear his adoptive family members scream for him, but he didn't care. He just wanted to run. So, he did.

The boy ran, and ran, and ran. Legs screamed for him to stop but no. He just kept doing while ignoring all the pleads. Eventually he found his room and dashed inside. Once in he slammed the door shut locking himself in. There he stayed. Never once willingly stepping out himself.

AN: I will be completely honest. This is only half of the original event. It became a little too long for the formant I'm going with for this series. So, despite having this whole event finished for a while (only needing corrections and such) I decided to cut it in half. I might post the other half a little earlier or not. Either way. Also disclaimer we don't I don't know what Fuyumi or Natsuo quirks are so I made them up.

Dreamer-Sara – I will say this much. Izuku's path has been decided in my event list plan. It will be as you make have guessed given the current pacing of these evets it will be a slow climb to get there. I will give hints to what he will become but in all revolves on one single goal.

Cyber-RK18 – one day I'll reach the Midoriya family plot line. That is very far down my current list. This season of events will just be the Todoroki family. Things will get to complicated if Shouto Is added.

Persephone-Gaia – yeah…keep an eye on Touya.

Shigiya – a part of me feels like I should answer this one directly. But I'm so use to this way of doing things. Mr coin! *flip* here it is. First off, I do have a small role for Momo to play. That's why down the line and not that important. As for endeavour. I really like this guy. I like writing him being a human and not genetic evil dad character. Izuku being the catalyst for his change to come sooner was just too fun of a thought. Although things may not be as cute as they once were…

Liziliza – I won't say last event was the first time Touya talked about his frustrations. It was the first time it was made obvious and said aloud to someone.

Mr ChubbySnorlax619 – (looks at Rei) Yeah… Anyway. I'll say this much about my plans for Shouto. He will still be name Shouto for my convince with plot reasoning. If both were named Izuku things would get so weird. I doubt Inko would name a child that is clearly not hers the name intended for her real child. He'll still be stoic. Picture emo boy/ ice prince vibes but more emotive. Especially around Inko and Bakugo for different reasons.

Guest - My you all really want Shouto. I'm sorry I can't do it yet. The event list for this season has now been finalised. Adding Shouto now would complicate things too much. Know that he's on my list but just not now. Hope you're all willing to join me because this will be one really long ride. The list is very long and continues to grow. I'm going to have to go the squeal rote at some point, won't I?

Knightwalker405 – I know I'm falling from cannon with this but when I created this concept that stuff hadn't happened. I'm following through with a head cannon that is now destroy. Endeavour used to get burns, but they never got as bad as Touya. The only reason why he had them in the first place was form excessive training to increase his fire output and resistance. Currently he thinks Touya is like him so he's not too worried. Touya even believes this. That's why they haven't seen a doctor and know the truth of Touya's condition.

A friendly dude – Thanks. It was a nice write. Although I'm prouder of the next one coming up. Anyway, the beginning after the end sounds familiar to me. but Unordinary is definably one that I know and have mix feelings about. It's getting harder for me to read the more my disappointment for John grows. I get it you've been wronged. The current system is messed up. Some of the payback was understandable. Looking at you Arlo. But did you really have to go insane! I'm not caught up anymore so hopefully someone beats some sense back in the kid.

Alpha Therapy – Oh I have plans for Izuku's pathway. I'll explain this further one day.

SilverWolf227 – Today. Welcome to the turning point. Tune in next time for the reactions

Intrasted dude – thanks. Hope I keep you interested. (also, I think you spell that name wrong.)
