AN: I don't own My hero Academia

What's your name?

Empty cups of noodles littered the floor. The bed, if you could even call it a bed, was unkempt. Sheets coloured with mysterious stains and wrinkled beyond belief. It looked like no one was used it for week with the amount of dusk collected. Random pieces of clothing were scattered about the cramped space. It was mess. The atmosphere could be mistaken for a graveyard. Dark, dingy and depressing. It was hard to believe someone lived here, yet there was one.

The only proof was one perfectly cleaned table. It had stubby legs, yet it was polished so much there were mirror images. A couple of candles lit up the gloomy room. They were placed on either side of picture frame. Some fresh food was left uneaten. An offering for someone that will never eat it.

Alone, a single person slouched in the darkness. His head lay on right on its side. Before him was another lone source of light. A computer screen. Mindlessly, he clicked down the page. Job hunting you could say. More like job browning. He had to find a way to pay his bills somehow. Maybe he should take back his old job now, but…it just didn't feel right. To pretend nothing was wrong. They would be fine without him so he shouldn't worry. He just needed some time.

Then a want ad caught his eye. Posted by the current number 2 hero. He needed a private tutor for one of his children, but that wasn't the thing that caught his attention. Sure, many out there would be over the moon to get to work for such a prestigious hero. Or was just itching for some gossip since he was also the top controversial hero. No. Thing that caught his eye the most was who they would be teaching for. Their youngest adopted child Izuku Todoroki who happened to be…

"Quirkless?" He spoke aloud. The word rolled off his tongue with curious delight. His half dead eyes glanced back at the only clean table. They stared longingly at the frame. He hummed and returned to his computer screen. "Perhaps this will be interesting."

"Izuku, we're going now. Have fun being home schooled." Natsuo called out while poking his head through the boy's door. He was joined by his other two siblings.

Izuku was not going to have fun. After being completely trapped in his own home for little over a week with nothing to do, he was more than be a little grumpy. With his father working 24/7, and his siblings going to school, he had little company. His mother was the only one at home most of the time left him to his own devices. His only real friend now was his precious Endeavour doll, Mini Endver. Although their conversation tended to be one sided. The boy was slumped on at his desk. His room was converted into a mini classroom. He had a new shelves with all learning materials he would need, and a white board bolted at his wall. All the supplies he could ever ask for were provided. His desk was even had an openable lid for a storage space. A prefect, little, lonely classroom. He pouted at the thought that this is where he'd spend the rest of his school life. Alone in his bedroom.

Nervously, Fuyumi chuckled, "Don't be too sad, Izuku. At least you're going to have lessons again. Who knows? You might like your tutor."

"Humph," the small boy huffed while crossing his arms at his desk.

"We'll be back as soon as we can," Touya added and shooed his other sibling out the door after a couple of quick goodbyes.

The trio headed out the door conversing amongst themselves if their little brother would be ok. They concluded it would be better than allowing him to stay in that kindergarten. They didn't want him anywhere near those bratty kids again. For now this was better. Soon they jogged out the door and headed off to their own school.

Meanwhile, someone else was being pushed through the door right after them. Though it was hard given both of his arms were anchored at the door frame. Stopping him from going anything further. "I can't believe you, woman! You accepted an application. Without my supervision!"

"You rejected every application thus far. This was the last one and Izuku needs a teacher!" Rei yelled at her husband with unusual harshness. It was almost comedic the way she was pushing at her husband's back with her whole body. Her frail arms somehow had enough energy to move him. Even if it was only a little. Endeavour was being overly picky about the applications on who would teach Izuku. There was only one remaining. So, Rei accepted that last one before her husband could even reject it. Eventually she found the strength to push him out. "I can't believe I'm saying this but go to work!"

Growling, Endeavor turned away. "Fine! If anything happens call me right away."

"Of course," she said in a fake sweet tone. With that Rei slapped the door shut. Finally, she could take a breather. Alone in the house again with her adopted child. The child tended to keep to themselves not that she minded. She was perfectly fine with that arrangement. Now all that's left was to wait for the new tutor…

Knock. Knock.

That must be them, but shouldn't they be waiting at the gates? Never mind, she was sure her husband must have begrudgingly allowed them in. Forcing on a smile, she opened the door. What she saw on the other side wasn't what she was expecting.

Standing at her doorway was an impressively unkempt man. He was a head taller than her with poor body posture. His tan pants were not only wrinkled by had a couple of holes across his legs. His shocks were heavily mismatched. One looked like a Christmas design with his green and red colours and rows of snowflakes forming a ring around his ankle. The other one was bright blue with sushi pieces running pattern. His shoes weren't even properly laced up. They looked like knots on top of knots as if he gave up trying to do them properly. His long sleeve button shirt was not button up well. Some buttons were missed completely while others where in the wrong hole. The more she looked at him the more she saw only one button was in the right hole. The shirt was also untucked making him look more dishevelled. His deep blonde hair curled to reach his shoulders. It didn't look combed at all. Most of it covered his face. They couldn't even meet each other in the eye. Not with a curtain of dirty blonde hair in the way.

Rei gulped down her nerves. She was beginning to wonder if this was a mistake. "Are…you the tutor?"

"Yes," he replied in the most deadpan tone she has ever heard. The man sounded and looked dead for lack of a batter term.

The woman was really regretting accepting that application so readily. Next time she should at least read it.

The door to Izuku's room opened. Rei stepped in with the stranger right behind her. "Izuku, your tutor is here."

The child eyes the odd-looking man down and was also perplexed. This was this gloominess surrounding the man that made him uneasily. He could almost see the lines of depression flowing out of their body. Though they might have been stench marks. The boy wouldn't be surprised if the man had yet to take a bath.

The woman bent down to his ear. "If any happens just yell," she whispered before turning around and walking out of the room. "I'll leave you two to it." She closed the door leaving Izuku alone with this odd-looking stranger.

The blond man walked into the room with lazy wide steps. Izuku followed his movement with his eyes until he found the man directly in front of him. From the cracks of his curtain of hair he saw a dull blue eye staring down at him. Despite its dullness, Izuku could still feel this interest focus on him. If he was being honest with himself, it made him feel uncomfortable. Finally, the man spoke. "So, you're Izuku." His voice was much like his appearance. Low with gloom.

Izuku nodded, "that's me." He hoped he was hiding his nerves well, but he could tell he wasn't.

The man they crouched down a laid his arm's fold upon the child's desk. He allowed his head to lay sideways across his hands. Izuku had to resist the urge to pull his chair back. Something about this man felt off. "You're quirkless right?" Sadly, Izuku dropped his head. He gave a small nod of conformation. This made the man hum dully. "That's quite rare now a days. Makes me curious. Is there anything you want to do?" The child's confused reaction was enough to tell they weren't sure what he was asking. So, he rephrased. "Is there a goal you want to achieve in your life? A desire you want to complete. It can be as broad and simple as...getting married. Or something more specific like a dream job."

Only one thing came to the boy's mind. He knew he couldn't do it. He was already told he couldn't do it. Still, he couldn't deny the fact that deep down he still wanted it. Could he admit that to the stranger? Would they act like his father? Or worst their mother. They could go ballistic laughing and yet. When he looked at this stranger's blue eyes. How they intensely stared at him beyond his blonde curls. The boy couldn't find it in himself to lie. "I want to be a hero," the child admitted honestly yet regretfully.

Surprisingly or not so surprisingly, the man scoffed at the boy's answer. "A hero? What a heartless profession," he spat. Then he stood back up and strutted away from the boy. The gloomily mood around him spiked with anger. "Why do you want to do that? Don't tell me it's because of that smiling fool. I don't understand why he's so idolised. The people prise him far more than he deserves."

"For my father and brother"

The sudden answer got the stranger's attention. A little spark ignited in his cold dead eyes. The shot a glance at the boy. "Excuse me?"

The boy darted his eyes down and twiddled with his fingers. "Father is a hero. A really strong hero. I've always admired him, but everyone doubts him for some reason. My brother will be a hero too soon, but he's having trouble living up to father. If I became a hero to make a could help them." He explained. Yet with every sentence his voice grew more dishearten. "But I can't."

The man grew more and more interested. With each word the boy made he took a step closer to him once again. The glow in his eyes brighten. "Why not?"

Izuku gritted his teeth in frustration and slammed his fist on his desk. "Because I'm quirkless. Father said I can't he a hero without a quirk. Since he's a hero he should know."

"Are you going to let the stop you?" The man asked now once again leaning his head on the boy's desk.

Izuku wanted to say yes. He wanted to be a good boy for his father and follow is words to the letter. His father knew better for him after all. He can't do it. He can't and that's final…yet there was this spec of desire. A smidge of rebellion in his blood. He wanted to believe. He wanted to hope even if it goes against his father's wishes and the beliefs of everyone around him. "…is it wrong for me to still want to be a hero? Even if it's impossible."

The man smiled widely as if satisfied with the boy's answer. "No. Not at all." Dramatically, he hopped back to his feet and spun around with his arms wide as if praising the heavens. He then stopped to face the child with the biggest grin on his face. "That desire is what makes you quirkless so special. Many allow their lives to dictated by their quirks. They allow them to control their future. Even is it's something they didn't want. Yet you quirkless can choose."

Hope flickered in the boy's chest once more. "…can I still choose to be a hero?"

"Of course." He replied simply, as if the answer was so obvious. "You just need to choose the right one that suites you." The man then skipped to the side. His arm out wide as if he was preforming in a play. He rose one hand to the heavens can called out his next line. "For what is a hero truly? It is much more than a meaningless job description. It's an ideal. A way of life with one goal in mind. To rescue those who need them." He spun on his toes till he faced Izuku again. His curtain hair was swayed to the side allowing his eyes to be seen. They shone with a brilliant deep blue. "After all, there are many types of heroes out there. Even ones that don't have the title of pro or wear stilly consumes."

Izuku was baffled by the foreign concept. "Other types of heroes?"

"Yes. Many." Suddenly he glowed blue. His body was soon suspended off the floor with his legs crossed as if he was sitting down. Izuku was in awe. The man was sitting in mid-air. "When a doctor saves the life of a patient does that make them less heroic? How about a detective? Using their skill and mind to catch the criminal. Even the simple act of rescuing a poor creature stuck on a tree. There are many professions that can be considered heroic. Even inside of the hero industry. Pro heroes aren't the only type of heroes out there." There was a glint in the man's eyes. It was paired with a sly smile. "I can teach you to be like one of them. If you'll let me."

The boy thought deeply about it. His father told him something similar. If pro hero wasn't possible then be something else. Could becoming a different type of hero work? If the possibility exists. If he could learn the skills needed to make that happen. To be useful. For the sake of his family and himself. Shouldn't he try and make it happen. Determination shone in his eyes as he started up at his tutor. "Teach me. I want to know everything.

The tutor's grin grew wilder than he did before. This will be interesting. "Well then. Let's get to work."

When Endeavour came home, he was more than a little frazzled. All he could think of that day was if Izuku was ok or not with this mystery tutor. He didn't know if they were a man or a woman. How old they were. Did they have a criminal record? The description he had from his wife did not ease his mind at all when he phoned in to check. He got home as soon as it ended. It was around dinner time, but when he went to check on his family it was easy to notice Izuku wasn't there. Apparently, according to his children he was still with, and he quotes: 'creepy looking tutor'. If that didn't send alarm bells, the scream he heard not much later certainly did. His pounding heart, Endeavour raced to his youngest child room.

"Aahh…!"

The child's growing wails only made the hero blood pump harder. Just what was this stranger doing to his child? He was about to find out as he slammed the door open. "Izuku! Izuku?" The scene the played out before his eyes was less alarming and more confusing. His youngest son was suspended in the air with a blue aura around him. His face showed little distress.

"Don't drop me," the child begged with a whine. He continued to flight around aimlessly.

The hero soon noticed, a what he could only describe as a homeless man leaning against the white board. His hair covered half his face but he could still see their smile smile. "I'm not going to do that," he assured with a chuckle. "You were the one who asked about my quirk."

"Yes, but I didn't think you could do this!" The child's fear was gone as he began enjoying himself. It really felt like he was flying. His body found itself turned upside down. Then he noticed his father's confused expression. Happily, the boy cheered and reached out to his father. "Father, you're here!" With that said the boy was placed back on solid ground. His legs stumbled a bit, but he soon found himself rushing the hero. Excitedly, he collided with their legs. He looked up at the hero with his usual bright smile. "Welcome home, father."

"Ah…yes," the hero said as he was snapped out of his confusion. His gaze then wandered to the stranger in the room.

The stranger smiled as their eyes met and gave a small bow. "I suppose it is rather late. Apologies. Me and your son ended up having quite an interesting conversation most of the day. But I assure you we did manage to get a lot of material done," the man then gestured to a pile of book laying on Izuku's desk. With such a tall pile the hero could only assume they did more than needed. "If you like. We could discuss Izuku education schedule. He is turning into quite the ravenous leaner. If you'd allow me, I'm thinking of giving him some more high tier material."

"Is that so?" The hero questioned warily. He then looked down at his son still hugging his leg. Gently, he patted the child head forcing them to look up. "Izuku, how was your day?"

"It was really fun, father. I learned a lot!" The child then ramble on about all the things he learned. Like new words and how to spell them. The times tables and most odd of all quirk philosophy. The hero was sure that last one isn't something a 5-year-old should learn yet. The child seemed happy none the less even if he didn't fully understand it.

"I see. You like this man then?"

Excitedly, the child nodded. "I do. He'll be teaching me from now on, right?" He asked with hopeful wide eyes.

Endeavour hummed not completely convinced. His eyes darted back to this mystery man. Then back to his son. "Izuku, go have dinner with the others. I'd like to have a word with your…new tutor."

The child did as told and hurriedly stood up. He bowed respectful to both his father and new tutor before rushing outside.

Alone, the two men glared instantly at the other. Although it was kind of hard to tell since one of them had their eyes covered. "You look like a mess," the hero commented displeased. He crossed is arms and lifted his chin. "What? Did my wife dragged you out of an alley way?"

The stranger looked at himself and chuckled. He sheepishly scratched his cheek. "Well, this is quite embarrassing. Isn't it? I must not have made the best first impressions looking like this," his voice lost all the gloom and deepness it once had when he first entered the house. It was now replaced by something lighter. Even had a regal yet playful tone to it. "This is what I get for trying to dress up half-heartedly. I haven't been myself in recent times, so I hope you could forgive me." Suddenly the man started to glow in a blue light. "Allow me to freshen up a little."

Endeavour warily stepped back as he watched the scene play before him. It was like magic. The man's shirt moved on its own and unbuttoned and buttoned itself correctly. The bottom ends of the shirt were then neatly tucked into his waist band. The horrendously tied shoelaces somehow untied themselves and then retied themselves in a neat bow. His blonde locks were lifted high and semi straighten themselves. From the man's pocket flew out a royal blue silk ribbon. Then his hair bunched up in a low ponytail and was neatly wrapped using the blue ribbon. This allowed the hero to see the man's face fully. Despite his previous appearance his skin looked well kept. No blemishes on his pale skin, perfectly lean bone structure, and stunning pair of deep blue eyes that mimicked the clear ocean. This man clearly looked like a foreigner. A decent looking one once you clean him up a bit. At least he doesn't look like a homeless man anymore. The mismatched socks, holes in his pants and odd stains were still distracting.

Now that the man looked presentable, he casually leaned against the wall. With his arms crossed his stunning blue eyes gazed at the hero. He chuckled lightly with smiling eye, "You probably have quite a few questions for me, I'm sure. I heard your worrying mind rush down here quite rapidly. So, ask away any troubles you may have."

A blush dusked on Endeavour's cheeks. He wasn't that loud, he was sure. Coughing, the hero stared down the calm man. Their calmness did not fade. In only increased with that smug grin they wore. The hero really didn't know what to think of this man. Usually, a glare was all it takes for many to cower before him. "I do have a few, I assure you. Since I haven't look at your application fully. First what makes you think you're suitable to teach my son?"

"If you're looking for experience, I got it. I've taught for many age groups up to high school level subjects. I may look young but I'm a little older. Perhaps even older than you. I'm not quite sure anymore." That was a hard stamen to believe. For one now that the man was cleaned up, he looked like he was in his 20s at least. Skin still perfect. Not a single grey hair. The man was flawless aside from his mild dark rings under his eyes. "The school I was original base at before quitting was Shiketsu. I taught heroics there mainly alongside other subjects."

"Shiketsu?" Endeavour blurted out. Of course, he knew that school. It was the only school in the country that could rival U.A. If what this man said is true, he is more than qualified to teach Izuku for the rest of his academic life. Although that dose brings a question. "Why did you quit?"

The man's calm fade cracked as he turned his eyes away. "I had some… personal issues at the time. If felt wrong teaching if I couldn't perform to the best of my abilities. My students deserve better than what I could give them at the time. I left to recover. Eventually. I found myself here."

How curious. "Why did you apply for this job?"

The man's smile returned as he gave the strangest answer: "For Izuku." This answer was odd for many reasons. One, the man as never met Izuku before. Not since today. Two, that answer was more than a little creepy. He accepted because he was interested in a child? That sure didn't set off some alarm bells in Endeavour. And three, there was really nothing about Izuku that could warrant such odd interest. Most applicants were more interested in Endeavour than his son during the few interviews he had rejected. Then he explained himself. "Call me odd, but I always had an admiration towards the quirkless populace. They could do what I cannot." As if making a point he lifted a lose pen up using what the hero could only assumes was his quirk. The pen glowed blue as it flew neatly back into its pot. "They can survive in this cruel world without the need of a quirk. Their lives aren't dictated by them. Some of them can even thrive out there. It's amazing." He then skipped over to the taller hero and tiled his head up smiling. "I want to see what Izuku will become. To thrive. Even more so now that I met him. If I can lend a hand in his development, then all the merrier."

Humming, Endeavour couldn't help but admit to himself this man was so far good. It's almost scary so. His biggest worry was that his tutor would look down on his quirkless son and not take their education seriously. This man was proving to be quite the opposite with the capabilities to back it up. If he was telling the truth. Although, Izuku seemed to like him too so he couldn't argue against him too much. That left one curve ball question: "What do you think of All Might?"

Suddenly the man's cheery attitude switched to what can only be described as pure disgust. "That man is an eyesore and a fool."

That was an answer he never expected to hear from anyone. The most surprising thing was that this man looked dead serious about it. His eyes were a great tell with the way the ran cold at an instant. He meant those words from the depths of his soul. There was no point to argue anymore. With a sly grin the hero hummed with amusement "You're hired. You better treat my son well."

"But of course."

It was then Endeavour realised he forgot to ask the most important question. "I almost forgot. What's your name?"

The man's eyes widen when realised he never completely introduced himself. He bowed politely. "Excuse me, where are my manners? Allow me to introduce myself." He strengthened his back and placed a hand over his heart. "My name is Arata. Arata Darewell. But please, feel free to call me Arata."

AN: Ok, I need to explain how I got here. I always intended for Izuku to be home-schooled just so his personal tutor can look at him and say, 'hey this kid got something'. Leading him towards the path I've planned and have Endeavour rethink things. This was going to be a faceless character, but then I thought wouldn't it be fun to have a cannon character? So, I looked at possibilities on whoever can fill these categories:

1. It must make sense. So, they need teaching ability as well as the availability.

2. They must be able to deal with Endeavour or at least get his approval.

3. They must be able to see Izuku's potential and inspire him.

Now there weren't many that can fit this list without me messing with cannon greatly. I thought of two main characters that could work-ish.

Aizawa – he is a teacher, can probably deal with Endeavour and since he flights quirkless he could be a great inspiration for Izuku. However, it just doesn't fit. At this time, he should be teaching at U.A and I doubt he would be inclined to take a tutoring job along with his two other jobs.

Makoto Tsukauchi - For those of you who don't know how this is. It means you haven't read vigilantes. If you really love MHA and its lore/world you should try it out. Anyway, this character is the sister of All Might's detective friend. She's a riot. I can see her have same hilarious banter with Endeavour. I just don't see her fearing this man at all. Also, she could inspire Izuku because of her outgoing personality type. Canon and character wise it doesn't fit. She's very goal oriented and focus on her career. I can't see her picking up this job unless it was for curiosity.

So, I was back to nameless teacher OC for Izuku… wait…an OC teacher for Izuku. (light bulb)

Everyone I'd like to introduce Arata Darewell. For that one person that knows him you should know how perfect he is for this role. I had to alter his character a little to fit the story better but he's the same personality wise. It's just his backstory that needed some alerting.

He was created to be a teacher and since he's an OC of mine I can alter him to fit this continuity. He can inspire Izuku because of his unique mindset where he genuinely respects the quirkless. There is also no doubt in my mind that not only could he handle Endeavour. He would get along with him. It's only hinted but Arata hates All Might in the original work he's from. His reasoning to why has be alerted for this but I argue his reason in this is more understandable. It's crazy how perfect he is for this role, so I wanted to use him again.

I hope you don't mind his inclusion. I really needed someone for this role, and he was just too perfect. That and I'm going to axe the work he's from soon and I haven't delved deep enough into his story. I'm the only one that cares about it, but I really liked this guy. It's shame to only use him in by far one of my messiest works. I wouldn't say it's worst, but it was a mess that I still want to give somewhat of a conclusion. Anyway, that's all. Hope I can make this guy entertaining for you all.

Yinasuka – Well…prepare for quite the ride.

UxysRaze – things were never going to be easy for this family.

Funny-Little-Cute White Fox – well here we are. Glad you enjoyed.

Liziliza – you know that's a fair assumption for Rei. Especially now that she has some sanity back. everyone is just too scared of Izuku getting hurt just because he's quirkless. Or too afraid to go against endeavour is who is the main source of this problem. That's why outside help was needed to disrupt it. Hope you don't mind Arata too much.

fencer29 – hey, I'm pretty sure Izuku can get out of the unit himself too. But anyway, here he is. My wild card Arata who I'm sure no one saw coming. No one would know who he is unless you've seen the original work, he's from. Which I won't recommend since it's messy. A fun messy for me not so much to anyone else I would think. Then again. Have I seen your username over there? It's been so long I'm not sure.

Adrian – well goodbye then. A massive storm is coming.

Fajangled – sorry about that. grammar is a weakness of mine. I do what I can and mostly spot them later. Someone has volunteered to help beta read but they're staring from the beginning and I want to keep to my so far consistent schedule.

ClownDeMierda – I have a feeling if Izuku did get OFA Endeavour would murder All Might. Given the whole broken limbs problem. Anyway, here's my wild card. Hope you don't mind him since he's going to be a recurring character.

Middernacht – sorry to say. Izuku will remain quirkless.

Guest – Yup. Although their current planned first meaning doesn't have that problem.

Knightwalker405 – ah I see. Anyway, Endeavour was never going to be the perfect parent. This man is the definition of taking things to far. His obsession with All Might, Touya's training and now taking care of Izuku.

SpectacularSpidey – fair. Kind of intentional. Started off small and humorous and then the escalation of bad overprotective parent. Also cannon wise Detective Izuku is perfect but as much as I love that I won't be doing it for this.

nepk99 – thank you.

a friendly dude – you as well

Alpha Therapy – oh my. You've thought this through. Well first of all it's not like I'm advocating that this is a good thing. This is very bad. I'm not sure if you can call it abuse but it's definitely toxic. If this doesn't get ratified Izuku will be the most sheltered child in the world. Enter my wild card Arata. His main job is to teach Izuku and give him confidence that just because he's quirkless doesn't mean his life is over. He's also here to challenge Endeavour. No one in the family can challenge him because they are too afraid or too young. Perhaps challenge is too strong of a word. More so teaching him to some degree.

Cyber-RK18 – thanks and kind of. Mainly for comedy. I like the head cannon of Inko and Mitsuki being best friends. If they accidently swapped babies, I could imagine a conversation of theirs worrying about how their children didn't look like them. They send pictures. Then they text back with: THAT'S MY BABY!

Dreamer-Sara – Not very. Safer to bet he'll be going behind Endeavour's back…for many things.

Harleking31 – well I'm glad. Endeavour is a jerk but an understandable one…most of the time

And that's all.
