AN: I don't own My hero Academia

Pure talent

All his life Izuku has watched those around him. Constantly, in silence. He noticed things. Small things like when his mother was nervous, she would brew herself a cup of tea and sit at the same spot in the kitchen. Looking out the window with solemn eyes. When his sister gets frantic, she always miss placed things. Usually, they would be buried in the same spots. When his brother Natsuo lies he could never meet people in the eye. He also tended to hide his hands behind his back as a force of habit. When his oldest brother is in pain, he too hides his arms as if he were ashamed of them. The weirdest thing he does was that he would always smile. Saying he was fine. When his father was angry, we would lock himself in the training room. He doesn't know what he does in there but there were usually scorched marks all over the walls.

With this knowledge Izuku began to act on those habits. When he noticed his mother having a bad day he would try and get the kettle ready on his own. That way she could brew her tea much faster. The look of surprise on Rei's face when she finds the kettle already hot pleased him. When he heard frantic searching from his sister's room, he always offered his help and always found what she's searching for in seconds. She asked how he does it but could never understand his repeat answer: 'big sister loses it in the same spots.' Then there's Natsuo and his lying. The boy was never good at it, but it got annoying when Izuku calls him out on it. Sometimes the child would help fix whatever it was his brother was hiding. Unless it was a report card. He was on his own for that. As for Touya he continued to act as his personal nurse and nagger. Unfortunately, the boy would still never admit how much pain his training left him. Giving the excuse that it didn't hurt that much, or he could handle it.

During his father's bad days, he would never enter the training room. He did that once and got yelled at. Father was scary when he was mad. So, he did the next best thing. Despite his masculine appearance, Izuku noticed that his father had a sweet tooth of all things. It was a mild one but a sweet tooth none the less. His favourite treat being kuzumochi. Wherever he had it the boy noticed that he would put extra brown powder and syrup on top. If they had some on hand, he would put some on a plate with an encouraging note. Something on the lines of 'do your best'. If they didn't he would get whatever sweet treat he could find in the kitchen. Then he would place the plate and note outside the training room doors then hid behind a wall. Every so often he would peek around the corner to see if his father noticed it.

The hero always did, and he would always accept the sweet offering. Occasionally, he would spot Izuku's little green head peeking form the corner. The boy would then scurry away if their eyes ever meet. Never the less, the hero would always be calmer after.

Now that he has a new tutor, they became the source of his constant curious eyes. Arata was an odd man to say the least. With his first impression of him being…well poor. The child didn't know what they would do moving forward. Surprisingly, the man was good at his job. Since the first day dress up mess up, he came back looking more professional. He had a tie and everything, but what caught Izuku's attention the most was his constant smiling. At times they felt like his mother's or Touya's smile when they're trying to hide their feelings. Sometimes they were genuine and bright like how smiles are supposed to be. Other times they looked dark for some reason. It mainly came from his eyes. They would go sharp with focus. Whenever Arata does that, he'd always act a little odd. Like he knew what anyone was going to ask before they said a word.

This happened constantly. Like the time Izuku couldn't understand a subject and didn't want to admit it. The man would tell him that it wasn't a good habit. He should speak up if he didn't understand. Before anyone could open the door to his room, he knew exactly who it was. Usually it was his father asking how he was doing or if they needed to end lesson. It made Izuku think and theorized until he asked the man himself one day.

"Arata sensei, I have a question?"

"What is it, my boy?" Arata asked while scribbling out their lesson plan for the day on the white board.

"Do you have a second quirk other than making things float around?"

Arata dropped the pen he was holding. He turned around to the child. Surprise written in his eyes "What makes you say that?"

The child explained himself, "You always seem to know who's at the door before they even open it. And every time I'm struggling with a question you always say something without me needing to ask. There are other times too but they're hard to explain. It's like you can read people's minds."

Arata's surprised soon turned into a smile. 'That's because I can'.

Izuku face lit up as he slapped both his hands at the side of his head. "I heard that. But your lips didn't move at all sensei!" He cheered in pure delight.

The teacher patted Izuku head and continued to speak using his quirk. 'You're quite sharp to have notice and I've only known each other for a couple of weeks. I think that a record for how long it took for anyone to realise what my quirk is without me having to directly tell them. It's call dual-kinesis. In simple terms means I have two psychic type abilities. One allows me to speak and read other's minds and send my own throughs to that person.' Then he took pause. His eyes started to glow he switched to his normal speaking voice. The pen that fell floated up and dropped itself back to his awaiting hand. "And the other allows me to make objects float like this. I can't use them simultaneously however," he explained while twirling the pen on his fingertip. It was still encase by his quirk's blue aura while spinning around.

It made the child think. "Sensei's eyes glow when he's makes things move." Then he though of a few second prior when Arata used his secondary ability. His eyes did not glow at all. "But they don't glow when you read minds. Does it have a different…hum…tell! Quirk tell!"

The teacher smiled proudly at his student. "You've been reading through your quirk theory. Very good. And no, my telepathy doesn't have a tell. I suppose it's one of the main reasons why it's hard to notice." He then shut his mouth and winked. 'Made my old job a lot easier through.'

Izuku's eyes critically scanned his teacher. He wasn't completely convinced because if one quirk and a tell then why not the other. So, he looked and stared. Then he spotted something. It was a small change but a change none the less. "No, sensei does have a tell!"

Shocked, Arata's eyes widen in confusion. "And what would that be?"

When Arata talked again Izuku knew for sure there was a difference. He smiled excitedly at his little discovery. "Sensei's hair!" At his point Arata looked more confused. His fingers twirled with a piece of lose side fringe. He didn't think there was anything different about it. "The hair roots straighten up a little. It makes sensei's hair puff up but since It's usually tied up and really long it not really seen." the child explained, "but the fringe is free so when you use the other quirk it lifts up at the root."

Ah, that was something Arata never notice before. He only knew about his telekinesis tell since it was so obvious to see and assumed his telepathy didn't have one. Curiously, he took out a compact mirror form his pocket and aimed the refection his hair line. With a little pushed he saw it too. The dark roots of his hair perked up by a couple of centimetres. When he de activated his quirk, they flattened back to normal levels. "Well would you look at that. It appears your right, my boy."

Izuku couldn't stop smiling so proudly. He found something that even his teacher didn't know. "That's so cool. I better write that down."

"Write that down?" Arata questioned curiously.

Blushing, Izuku sheepishly presented a notebook. It detailed all his family members' habits he'd pick up on. Each had their corresponding tip on how to deal or help with said habit. A couple of them were crossed off messily suggesting those remarks were ill advised. There was even a section on Arata himself. It wasn't extensive as the other entries but that didn't make it any less terrifying how accurate yet simple the pages were. Referencing all the times he probably used the mind reading quirk; to little habits. Like how he pushed his hair back when he was about a ask the boy a question. He didn't even know he had that type of habit. For this child to notice such a small detail may seem insignificant. However, if you were to place this skill on a different subject it could be both helpful and deadly.

Arata's eyes sharpened at the thought. A wild grin curled at his lips. This was an interesting development.

"Alright, Touya. I'm going to be teaching you something new today." The child watched closely as Endeavour held out his hand. A flame lit up in his palm and slowly morphed into a stick with a sharp pointed end. Kind of like an arrow made of fire. The boy gasped in amazement as the flames somehow kept the unusual shape. "This is a fairly simple technique, but it requires a complete concentration. Too much flame and it will blow up. Too little and it will go out. You understand?"

With a seriously pair of eyes, the boy nodded.

"Good. Now listen closely. First you must…"

Slam!

"Endeavour!"

The fire arrow popped in the hero's hand allowing the flames to disappear in a puff of smoke. A flickering flame manged to latch itself on the hero's hair strands like a candle wick. It made Touya chuckle. Only a little bit. The boy had to cover his mouth fast before it bellowed out. Annoyed, Endeavour pointlessly squeezed the flame away and roared: "This better be important!" His flamed features flared out more than usual. This man better have a good reason for interrupting him.

He did. Or at least to him it was important. Ecstatically, Arata shoved a notebook in Endeavour's face. "Look at this!"

The hero swiped the book and skimmed through it's pages. It was a crudely written entry about him. It even had little childish scribbles of him in crayon. At first glace it looked silly until you look closer. There were a bunch of random details about him. Like how he liked to start morning on with a certain blend of coffee. Or how at night he tended to star gaze alone before going to sleep. Some comments were a little more interesting. Like how he favoured fighting with his right side. Or how his flamed facial features gave away his emotions depending on how define they were. The more he read the more it both frighten him and intrigued him. "Who wrote this?"

"Izuku," Arata explained proudly. The man was practically bouncing at his knees. "He has quite the set of eyes, doesn't he? Seeing the patterns in the people. Not to mention his already unconsciously learning to manipulate that gathered information for his own benefit. Well, more so his family's benefit."

Endeavour closed the book and handed it back to the teacher. "That still doesn't explain to me why you were so desperate to interrupt my training with, Touya."

"Yeah, we're kind of in the middle of something here." The younger boy snapped along with his father.

The child was completely ignored. Arata shoved him aside and raced up to Endeavour's face with a serious expression. "Endeavour, don't you see? Izuku has something better than any quirk out there. Pure talent!" The teacher explained while dancing on the spot. He twirled around allowing his finger to flick through the pages. "With a talent like this. To spot even the smallest details of human behaviour and the using that information to his advantage. The boy can grow to take on several high-level professions. Doctors, science, even go into the hero industry with quirk analysis among other professions. The possibilities are endless." The man stopped his spinning dance and closed the book. He shot his blue eyes back at the hero and smirked. "Although, you and I both know talent is nothing if you don't exercise it. The boy's wording and understanding are still at a childlike level. I can help sharpen it. I just need more test subjects than the people of this household."

Crossing his arms, Endeavour raised an eyebrow. He didn't completely trust that gleam in their eyes. It looked more than a little unsettling. "What are you proposing?"

"I propose a field trip."

Now his protective instincts were alarming even more. "Where to?"

"Your hero agency," Arata replied with an innocent high-pitched tone.

"Out of the question," the hero denied. The teacher whined in protest, but Endeavour screamed back. "My agency is no place for a small quirkless child to be in. I have many sidekicks housed there with quirks that could harm him if he or they aren't careful. I don't even want to mention villains that might attack there or anywhere in the area."

"That's precisely my point, Endeavour. Izuku can watch them in action and gather more data that way. With so many new subjects to keep an eye on it will test his limits," Arata tried to persuade but the hero turned away. He wasn't going to let Izuku enter such a dangerous place alone. "He won't be alone," Arata further pushed. "He'll have me to keep an eye on him. If you need convincing of my capabilities, I'm… a licenced hero." He said not sounding proud about it. To prove his point the man handed the flame hero his license.

Endeavour analysed the card thoroughly. It didn't seem fake since it looked exactly like his own with Arata's details. It was even in date. Still, something wasn't right. Mainly the picture. "You're…"

Arata interrupted immediately. He pounced and covered half of the card with a hand. "Please don't mind that detail. I assure you this is mine," he said in a whisper.

The hero stared down the other. He to pounced landing a hand at the side of the teacher's forehead right beside their eyes. He felt it. Rough skin and some sort of residue. "I see," he commented while retreating his hand. As he did, Arata covered the spot with a cupped hand. Rearranging his fringe, his eyes asked if the the hero was satisfied. It was clear he didn't want to talk about it, so Endeavour let it go. "You never said you were a hero. I don't think I've ever heard of you."

"I taught a heroics class. It was kind of a requirement. That and I'm not one for the limelight." Arata took his card back and tucked in his pocket. He then marched up to Endeavour face and sternly looked him in the eye. "Look, Endeavour. You want your son to thrive out there, don't you? Then he needs to use every advantage he can get. I can see he can become something beyond both our expectations with this talent. He just needs to sharpen it which I can help if you just let me do this little experiment."

Endeavour's eyes lowered. Can he really allow this? The probability of Izuku getting hurt or witnessing something unsightly was high. Then again, he could trust his sidekicks with his son. He takes Touya there every once and awhile, so he knows they're fine with children. It's not like Izuku would be going out on missions. Be in the monitor station at most. Even though he hasn't seen Arata in action, he has seen snippets of his quirk. It could help protect Izuku further. The more he thought about it the more he began to think it might not be so bad. Yet there was still this inching feel. He hated to use this word but there was this smidge of fear that wouldn't go away. If Izuku got hurt in any way he would never forgive himself. So, he thought of a compromise. "You have one working week with this experiment of yours. If anything happens to Izuku or he fails to get desirable results you will not be repeating this process. Do I make myself clear?"

Smirking, Arata bowed his head. "I assure you, Endeavour. You won't be disappointed."

In what felt like forever since Izuku was finally allowed outside of the Todoroki estate. Mini Endver even joined. It's angry stuff head popped out of the backpack the child brought. Even better was the fact that he was going to a new place. His father's hero agency. For Izuku it was like going to a candy shop. The boy couldn't stop bouncing around as he absorbed the new sights around him. Pointing while asking a bunch of questions and having his plushie gaze at it's magnificence. The building was massive. It made his already massive home look humble in comparison. Every floor was like entering a whole new world. Form the grand lobby, to the high-tech engineering floor, to hero dorms, it was a lot to take in.

Since the place was like Endeavour second home, given how much time he spends there, you would think he would have time to keep an eye on his son. The answer was no. Despite being in the building he was often too busy with hero duties to physically watch his son. It made him all too nervous to think about how the curious child was wandering around the building. Sure, he had an escort but that didn't completely ease his mind. In fact, it gave me more anxiety even if he would never admit it.

Meanwhile, Arata followed the small child along giving me pointers on what to watch for. He expanded the boy's vocabulary and as the days went on Izuku's writing got faster. He also developed a habit to outwardly mumble. It melted the teacher's heart to hear Izuku's thought process thinking no one can hear him. Everyone could hear him. They may not know what he was saying but they thought it was cute. Especially when he realised, he was talking out loud. He got beet red while hiding behind his book.

The sidekicks at the agency paid no mind to the small child wandering around. Watching them do their daily routines. It wasn't the first time their boss brought one of his kids over. It was the first time they had a very harsh prep talk before they arrived. The hero down right threatened them with flames exploded right at their faces. They did find it humorous watching the little one walking around and writing in his little book. He looked nothing like their boss but then again, he was supposed to be the adopted one. Many of them had to hold their urge to rush the kid with questions. That didn't stop the kid from asking them questions. He was shy most of the time. Sheepishly waddling up to them and gently tugging at their uniforms. They were happy to answer. Even if some of his questions were odd or kind of personal. Like how well they could work with another member of the team. Or specific details about their quirks.

Soon enough the week came to an end without an incident. Now all that was left was to review the results.

Smiling ever so brightly and smugly, Arata stood before the flaming hero with a notebook in his hands. Next to him was little Izuku looking down while twiddling his hands and biting his lip. Touya also happened to be present since the teacher just so happened to decide to drop into their training session. Again! It was a little annoying, but he couldn't help but be a little be curious. "As requested, Endeavour. The result of our little experiment."

The teacher handed the book over which Endeavour accepted. He glanced down at his youngest son. The boy flinched on eye connect and grabbed a small hand at Arata's pants. He murmured a commented on the line of he did his best. The child sounded worried. What if he didn't do enough to satisfy his father? Well, the hero will be the judge of that. He began skimming through the pages and gulped at the work. Every page was filled to the brim with notes and observations. All organised in categories of places to people. Details of his employees' quirks and habits both in battle and outside. Some of these sounded a little personal but the real shocker was further into the notebook. Instead of observation data they morphed into suggestions. Possibly team combinations that suited their quirks or personalises. Some of them were combos they have done before. Others he would never have thought of. He didn't know what to expect by the end of this little experiment, but it certainly wasn't this.

Izuku kept his head down not entirely sure what to say. All he hoped for was for his father not to be disappointed. He didn't even know what he did. He just did what he does normally at home. Watch and write down what he noticed. To him I didn't seem all that special.

Satisfied form his reading, Endeavour slammed the book shut. "Izuku, it you write all this?" The child jumped at the sudden voice and nodded. "Arata didn't help you at all?"

"He helped me organised it better, and helped me spell, and used different words. I wrote what I though." The child couldn't meet the hero's gaze. He hunched into himself while half hiding behind his teacher's leg. "Is it not good? I'll do better next time. I promise."

The flame hero crouched down to his son's level and place and hand on his soft curls. "You did well, Izuku. This information will be quite useful to me."

"It will?" Izuku beamed jumping out of his hiding spot with smile.

Endeavour affirmed with a nod, "yes."

"Told you so," Arata jabbed cheekily. His eyes that stared down at the knelt hero looked condensing. It boiled the hero's blood just a bit.

A flame flicked at his upper lip before disappeared with a huff. "Fine, I admit. Your experiment was fruitful. What are you going to do now?" Arata proposed a simple schedule to allow this little talent of Izuku to grow into a sharpen into a fine blade. The child will at least go once or twice a week to the agency watching his sidekicks go about their business. If need be, they would have their lessons there. Also, any battle recordings they have on hand, may they be written or videoed, should be allowed to be seen by Izuku. It would also be good if Izuku watched the news often. "These terms seem…acceptable." The hero begrudgingly admits. "Even so. If anything happens to the boy, I'm stopping this."

"Nothing will happen," Arata assured with a pout. Then then bent down himself and hugged Izuku form behind. "Like I'll let anything happen to this cute face."

Endeavour rolled his eyes which then landed at this oldest son. He stood there awkwardly at the side. Left almost forgotten. He didn't know what he should be doing or if he should have been there at all. The child almost looked sad for some reason. That was then the man had an idea. "Izuku, why not try writing notes on Touya's training? They might prove to be helpful."

The older boy snapped in attention. "What? No." He said without thinking. He faced his father. Hand over his chest as he claimed: "I'm fine the way things are and aren't I getting better anyway? I don't need this."

"Touya, this won't you hurt you and might be useful. If not just to increase Izuku's skill," Endeavour countered. This caused the child to bitterly turn away and grumble a weak ok.

Izuku's smile brightened. "I've written petty of notes of Touya…" he instantly regretted saying a word. Yes, he has written a lot on his eldest brother but some of those details were private. At least they were for Touya. He recalled the many times Touya would yell at Izuku not to tell their father how much he was struggling. Or how much in pain his body really was. If his father sees those Touya would be mad. His eyes turned to his brother. Even they looked just as panicked. His eyes screaming in hopeful silence that his younger brother didn't put any delicate information in there.

"I suppose you would have," Endeavour concluded. The child has been watching his family for years. "I'd like to take a look at them now if you have them."

"NO!" Izuku screamed suddenly.

The hero reached up an eyebrow. Was the boy challenging him? "No?" He parroted.

"No…it's just." Izuku had to think of something fast so he just blurred out the first thing that came to mind. Hopefully, his father would accept it. "The notes are bad! Like really bad. They're all over the place. It's very confusing. Some very stupid I know I can do better how to sort them and what to look for. I can write them better, so much better now, just give me time. I swear!" The boy rambled a mile a minute.

Despite his rapid talking it seemed like hero caught every word. "Very well. I'll allow you time to write a new set. Do not disappoint me."

Izuku exhaled in relief. That was a close one.

AN: a little early this week since I'll be busy tomorrow but another event done.

Funny-Little-Cute White Fox – ...it's complicated

Knightwalker405 – it's not that Arata's threating Rei for her thoughts alone. He's threatening her not to act on those thoughts. He won't do anything to her until then. Not even kill her but he is crazy. Fun fact last event had a deleted scene. It was getting too long for my word count restriction and was too small to be its own event, so I cut it out. The scene went like this: two teachers from Shiketsu talk about how hard it's been with Arata's absent. Without him keeping students in check some have pushed the limits of their strict rule system. Also, down a pretty good teacher. But they understood why he left and wonder if he was doing ok. They then talk about an incident regarding one of Arata's old students. They were being bullied and mysterious the bully begged for forgiveness some time down the line. They didn't know what happened, but it was a public event that everyone talked about. Rumours stated that Arata was involved but no one could prove it. This scene was to solidify how terrifying Arata can be as well as what he could do to Rei if she acts on those thoughts. But I thought him threatening Rei was good enough to show case that. If you mess with any of his students prepare for the consequences.

fencer29 – that is not a bad idea. This family needs therapy. Yup Rei better be careful. If Arata can keep an entire school in check imagine what he can do with a household of 6…if he cared for more than one of them. And no, you didn't miss anything. To be fair Izuku is getting a little older so Mini Endver usage will lessen. He'll always be around though. Took him on his little adventure.

ajmojar – ah yes, I reincarnated Arata from one fic to another just so he could teach the same lesson to Izuku. Although things are still going to be different. Both for Arata and Izuku's development. This Arata isn't completely the same. And I to have a soft spot for Endeavour.

Persephone-Gaia – Arata's plan is a simple one. As he said all he wants is to see Izuku succeed in life. Wherever that takes him. His motivation…that is where things get interesting.

Liziliza – kind isn't really a word I'd used for Arata. Scary is though. If Rei ever acts on those thoughts it will be more on purpose than an accident.

Alpha Therapy – Fair enough. Arata was and always will be a strange one. Rei isn't having a good time and Endeavour…I have plans for this man.

Dreamer-Sara -you know that last line perfectly captures Arata's character. The family is a mess and things were never going to be easy for them.

Middernacht – well that's not really possible since those gloves only react to dying will flames. Although it's kind of funny to think about since Tsuna technically used both fire and ice.

A friendly dude- thanks.

Harleking31 – well…she's been through a lot and is not completely sane.

Fajangled – there's always a few. I swear I try my best to correct them. And thanks, Arata is a personal favourite creation of mine.

SilverWolf227- …stick around to fine out.

That's all-next time…the domino effect I've sent in motion will come to light.
