AN: I don't own My hero Academia
I have a suggestion
It was another Saturday in the Todoroki estate. Rei was minding her own business in the garden. Happily watering her plants. Natsuo and Fuyumi were together watching TV having a lazy day. As for the remaining members they were in their usual spot. The dojo. Izuku was still confined in his little box at the furthers side of the room. His hands now confidently held a pen a notebook. Meanwhile Endeavour and Touya were exchanging blows like every other day.
Izuku eyes watched his brother's and father's movements closely. He's gotten better at watching the human body in action with all his time watching his father's sidekicks workout and news battles. He began to notice these little details. Patterns in battle movements. Father was very fist heavy and surprisingly fast despite his massive body build. Each punch held power he could never obtain. Touya was doing his best to mimic their father's moves. One problem that was clear to Izuku, his brother was falling behind. The boy just couldn't perfectly mimic their father. The gap between their skill and raw strength was just too wide. That wasn't even the biggest concern. Their body types also made it hard for Touya to keep. The boy was small and hasn't built up the muscles mass needed to copy someone like Endeavour.
The more Izuku thought about it the more he wondered should his brother copy their father. He knew the boy was expected to surpass him, but did that really mean he should be exactly like the man move for move. There's also the fact Touya's body still couldn't handle his flames well. Their father's constant pushed to increase the child tolerance had worked a little bit, but the cons out weighted the pros. He wanted to say something about It so badly. However, every time he tired Touya either interrupt him or gave him the death glare to shut up. He could never find the courage to speak when their eyes met. So, he was forced to keep his mouth shut. His mind began to wonder about all the information he has required. Touya, whether he liked it or not, just wasn't completely suited to their father's training. So how can they fix this dilemma?
That's when it hit him. Touya doesn't need to follow their father move by move. That would be a problem. So logically speaking he should try and find his own style. Preferably, one that won't stress his body too much with his quirk. This idea required outside assistance. And he knew just who to ask. "Father!"
The two stopped at the sound of Izuku's voice. "What!" Touya snapped annoyed and more aggressive than usual. Izuku hid behind his book like a frighten rabbit from the shock. This caused Endeavour to shoot a glare at his eldest son. The boy shivered at the look and straightened himself. "Sorry," He spat half-heartedly.
Endeavour turned his attention to his youngest. "What is it, Izuku?"
"I…have a suggestion."
"So… you don't want me to train Izuku?" Arata asked looking confused. The man was called in as soon as Izuku suggested the idea to have Touya train with someone else for a change. Endeavour was a little apprehensive at first. Touya even more so saying that Endeavour should be the only one he needed to learn from. Eventually, Izuku wore them down to at least give the idea a shot. Which brought Arata into the picture. The man was already a teacher and was acquainted with the family. It made him a better choice than hiring another random or one of the many sidekicks from the agency. So, Endeavour called him up and he left as soon as he heard: 'I need you to train my son'. The hero should have specified which son. He wouldn't have been so fast to say yes.
Endeavour shot a furious glare at the teacher. "Why on earth would you think Izuku needed training?"
"Well, he could at least learn some self-defence."
"No!" Endeavour glowed. "He doesn't need to. Not when I'm here to protect him."
The hero didn't notice but the young child dropped his head at the sound of his words. Despite not training with his brother the hero told him to remain in his little box for his protection. It's always for his protection. The hero was seated next to him wearing his usual stone-cold expression.
Arata noticed and shared his grievances with a sight. Sadly, there's only so much he could push. "Well, you're the one that gives me my pay-check. Even so…" He took a glance at the child across from him. Touya looked anything but happy. He was more annoyed by the whole event. The man dared say this child was looking down at him. Those heated eyes were irritating. "What exactly do you expect me to do with this…child?" he asked matching the child's glare with a dull disinterested gaze.
"I was hoping you could show Touya a different fighting style." Izuku explained shyly. "Maybe if he trains with someone else, he might figure out a different style better him than the one father teaches."
His brother's eyes only grew more heated at the words. His hands balled tight turning his knuckles white. Flames flickered at the tips.
"A different fight style," Arata parroted with a hum. He scratched his chin in thought. "That's easier said than done, little one. To make your own combat style takes years of experience. Even then there are many factors to consider. Body type, skill, quirk, even the environment itself."
"If you're not going to do anything then leave!" Touya spat harshly. "I'm fine with what father has been teaching me. I don't need you wasting my time."
Arata's blue eyes grew cold. He scanned the feisty boy before him. So, it's going to be like that. A dark grin flashed on his face before turning into a sweet innocent one. No one seemed to notice the rapid change but Izuku who shivered slightly in his box. His eyes looked like we were regretting asking his teacher for help. Too late now. "Well, I suppose I could entertain your child with a mock match. I can evaluate his current skill in battle and give my thoughts from there. How hard to you want me to go on this…sweet little boy," the condescending tone dripped in his voice. It made steam whistling through Touya's ears.
"Just treat him how you would your students," Endeavour concluded. That should be enough. The man was a heroics teacher so it should be fine.
With an unmeasurable happy smile, Arata sang. "Ok. Remember you asked for this." He turned his head to the side where this long black duffle bag lay. It was around half his height but was oddly thin. A single strap ran from end to end. It fastened close to the main body as if it was met to be carried virtually hooked round the shoulder. He brought it with him since the hero asked for training. Slowly, the bag zipped open with a blue glow. Something peaked out from the opening but no one could make out what it was. Then Arata turned to the child he was about to fight. His eyes glowed bright with wild craze. "Get ready."
Slash!
Touya screamed as he stumbled backwards. Between his wide-open legs was…is that a real sword? The boy's teeth jitter at the sight of his own refection in the glowing blade. Then the blade began to move and pointed itself right at him. This could be a problem. "AHHHHHH!" Touya screamed as he was being chased around by the flying blade. His path was soon cut off by another flying blade and another and another. Just how many of these things were there?
Meanwhile, Arata laughed cheekily while a set of holsters strapped themselves around his waist. Each one had a type of scabbard attached to them. There looked be a told of two placed on either side of him. That perfectly matched with the number of swords chasing down the oldest Todoroki child. "Come now... which one are you again? Naya? Su? Fu something? Something to do with a valley? Or Arrow?"
"Touya! My name is Touya!" the child screamed while running in a zig zag. Anything to get these blades off his back. They were like heat seeking missiles following him with every turn.
"Oh Touya. Ok Touya. You can't run away forever, so why not face me."
"I could say the same thing coward!" Touya yelled while he jumped over a pair of slashing blades. He tumbled on his knees and glared viciously. "Hiding behind those swords. Why don't you face me head on like a man?"
"I am facing you. I'm just using my quirk like any person would," Arata replied slyly. The man somehow had the nerve to drink a cup of tea. No one knew when or how he got it, but while Touya was running for his life he was casually sipping away. It was clear mockery.
"Arata, are you sure about this?" Endeavour asked mildly concerned. He was half tempted to stop the match. "This seems a little over the top." Even Izuku was panicking. Eyes bulged out in fear silently regretting setting this up.
The man hummed uncaringly while taking a long sip. "This is more or less what I do with my students. Course there's usually 20 or so coming at me. Nether the less, I am going easy on the boy."
"How is this going easy!" said boy yelled while dodging another strike. It was a miracle nothing was broken yet. Aside from some scratches on the floor. That soon changed as the boy found himself trapped against a wall with four blades coming at him. He gulped in the pressure. By instincts, his arms burned up and launched flames at the blades. It did nothing however since the blades continued to move forward. In fact in made things worse since now they glowed with heat. At the last second, Touya dogged rolled around allowing the blades to spear through the wall. Thanks to the added heat they burn holes right through it. Soon they ripped themselves free making a hole to the outside. It almost felt like a horror movie as they sharply aimed at the child again. "You're insane!"
"My wall!" Endeavour yelled seeing the damage being done to his home.
Arata didn't seemed to care as he voiced out a quite comment on how it was fixable. They could use his next pay-check to repair it if they wanted to. Then it was back to slicing at Touya with floating swords.
Eventually, Touya tried to escape outside but that didn't stop Arata from following him. Both made it into the garden where Rei happened to be. Her peaceful day ruined, she dropped her hose with a scream. She had to dash way as Touya and Arata rush out with flying blades between them. Luckily, for her she managed to escape. Then she spotted Izuku', now freed from his box, and her husband' heads peek out of the newly made window. With a face scrunched up in rage she marched up to them both. "What is going on here?"
"Humm…Touya has a new training partner," Izuku answer innocently.
The woman faced palmed herself. "And I thought your father was bad." At least they didn't destroy her garden…yet.
Soon Fuyumi and Natsuo joined to see the ruckus. They were both amazed and horrified watching their eldest brother run and doge flying blades. The worst of it was the fact Arata looked like he wasn't breaking a sweat. He had this smug smile on his face while he eyes glowed with focus. The blades kept Touya from getting any closer to his opponent. No matter how you saw it the battle was heavily one sided. "Dad, shouldn't you stop this?" Fuyumi asked panicked.
Endeavour opened his mouth, but he was then forced shut with a glow around it. He shot a glare at the so-called teacher who smiled innocently at him. "Now Endeavour, don't you have faith in your son? He's supposed to succeed you, right? Then he should be able to land one hit against a lower ranking hero like myself."
How are you low ranked when you have a quirk like this! Endeavour screamed with his eyes.
Unable to be stopped, Arata happily continue to slice away chasing Touya all over the garden. There was nothing but destruction in their path. Luckily, for rei, they seemed to have missed her precious flower patch. For how much longer it was hard to tell. Touya tired many times to close the distance between him and his opponent but he never could. Arata watched him carefully never allowing the child to get past a certain threshold. It truly seemed impossible.
Izuku noticed this and his mind raced. There were multiple of thoughts of rushing out and stopping this entirely. Those were swept away because he was sure both Arata and Touya would get angry at him. So, his eyes darted around. They homed in on an abandoned hose in the middle of the garden. It dripped with a little bit of water trying to escape. He then remembered something he noticed and wrote down about Arata's quirk. He never tasted it for sure but now was a better time as any. The child rushed down to the hose's water source and turned the dial to full blast. All he needed to do was enact his plan in away Arata wouldn't' notice. "You can do it, Touya!" He yelled out.
Touya heard the young boy hand glance towards him. He saw Izuku next to the tap the was still attached to the hose his mother was using. The boy pointed to it and then pointed to his own eye. At first Touya was confused. What was the boy trying to say? He then was forced to jump back as a blade sliced beside him. A little too close for comfort. His eyes shot to Arata's disgustingly smug face. That was when he noticed the man's glowing eyes. They matched the same glow that surrounded the blades he was controlling. Then his eyes glanced at the hose not too far from reach. Its nozzle flopped around like a fish on dry land. The water pressure was building. It needed release and he knew just where to aim. Then Touya pounced at the hose while a blade grazed his leg. His hand caught the handle as he hind it behind his body. He could hear Arata walking closer to him. Their confident steps annoyed him. It was now or never. As quickly and as sharply as he could he spun his body around and released the pressure.
A jet stream of water flowered out form the hose taking Arata completely off guard. The glow of his eyes was lost and as soon as it did the blades fell from their place. The man didn't have any time to react as a blast of pressurised water hit his face. It blinded him temporality. He held his arms up to block the water as he screamed in surprise.
It was Touya's chance. His arms where lit ablaze as he changed in with a war cry. Using many of the moves his fathers taught him and tried to punch the man. It didn't work. Arata somehow saw through the child's movements despite his eyes were closed. He dodged it effortlessly by crouching down and swept a leg over Touya's footing.
The boy was knocked down by the force. His flames went out while his face planted on the wet dirt. Arata's shadow casted over him. The man may still have his eyes closed but the boy could still feel his condescending eyes staring down at him. It was infuriating.
"I'll give you points for effort," Arata chuckled before slamming a leg down at the child.
Touya managed to roll away in the nick of time. The man's heel just inches away from crushing his chest. As he did his hand griped on one of Arata's fallen blades. With his hand tightly around the handle he jumped up and swung the blade at his opponent.
Arata's face shifted to curiosity as he stepped aside. The swing completely missed. His eyes opened but they didn't glow. Instead, he dashed aside and grabbed another blade for himself. He pointed it to the child. His eyes completely focused.
It was a silent standoff. The family members that watched from the side-lines gawked and wondered what will happened. Natsuo looked excited seeing a fight unfolded. Fuyumi and Rei were understandably worried. With how hectic the battle had been they just wanted it to end as soon as possible. Endeavour and Izuku on the other hand watched on in curiosity. There was a clear shift in atmosphere. Before Arata was just playing a game not taking the child seriously at all. It was light-hearted despite it all the vicious attacks. Now it was tense. Like this was where the real battle starts.
The two opponents glared at each other. Both with blades in their hands. Then Touya made the first move. He thrust towards Arata aggressively. The weight of the sword made him a little off balance. This made it easy for Arata to simply step aside to doge. The man raised his blade high and slashed downwards. Luckily, Touya reflexes where fast enough to block. He twisted his body around and lifted the blade high. Since it was heavy for him, he had to use his free hand on the dull side to support the blade up.
Arata smirked at the movement. "Interesting." Then he went on the offensive and sliced down at the boy again and again. Changing the angle of his swing with each strike.
Touya kept the blade up as a shield but that didn't spot his body form being forced back. His heels digging further into the dirt. Eventually, he had enough and went on the attack as well. He matched the man blow for blow. Despite the awkwardness of the blade, he quickly got the hang of it. Each blow he grew more confident in his moments. He strike the man back with just as much force. Sparks fly as the blades sang with each collision. Touya grew desperate for an opening of some kind to end this. That was when he noticed there was a pattern to the man's moments. He was doing the same few moves repeatedly. There was an opening in the pattern. He can get to it. The boy just needed good timing. When the time was right, he thrusted as quickly as he could. Once he did the blade clashes stopped.
A hummed escaped Arata's mouth. He glanced at his shoulder. His sleeve had a clear cut. It was even bleeding a little. "You have good instincts," he admitted. The sword glowed blue and was taken from the boy. The battle seemed to be over as Arata's blades all returned to their rightful places. "Your movements are cumbersome. Since this was the first time you have held a sword; I can forgive that. My blades were meant for adults. The fact that you can wielded, it as clumsy at it was, didn't make it any less impressive." Then he crouched down to meet the boy's eye level suddenly. Touya stumbled a little at the sudden closeness. "How do you feel about learning sword play?"
"Sword play?"
"Yes. You seem to have some natural instinct for it. Your current body type would lean towards it as well." The man the grabbed the boy's arms and lifted them up. He poked at the child's still forming muscles and nodded. "Yes, you have good arm strength form your usual training routine I assume. Your speeds isn't bad either. I can work with this."
Touya still looked unsure as he stretched his arm away. He warily glared at the man who just chased him with swords.
Respectfully, Arata stepped back. Both hands above his shoulder and a smile on his face. "I suggest you think it over. It might be good for you to consider a style that wouldn't require much quirk usage. It allows your body some rest. You can still learn from your father if that's your worry. Having multiple combat styles is good. Makes you flexible. That is if you can handle it."
That last part sounded like a taunt and honestly, it was working. The boy knew how damaging his flames can be to his body. No matter how much he refused to admit it. It made the offer that more temping. "I'll think about it."
"I think you should do it, Touya," Izuku cheered as he rushed into the garden. The smile on his face was ever lasting. "You were really good matching Arata sensei blow for blow. And if it means not having to use your flames so much then that's even batter." Then the child mistakenly said something he was warned constantly told to never say aloud. "That means Touya wouldn't get hurt as much."
Something snapped within Touya has he heard those words uttered. Was his youngest brother…looking down on him? An unsightly feeling bubbled to the surface. It was always there. lurking the depths of his heart. It was only matter of time till it showed. Soon, his faced warped into a scowl that could rival his father. "Stop that!" He shirked shocking everyone around him. Even Izuku felt frightened as he took a couple of steps back. Touya stretch his arm and pointed at Izuku with a fury he never had showed the boy before. "Stop acting like you know better. You don't. I know my body better than anyone. I know how much I can take. So just back off!"
With every sentence the boy's voice found a new volume rage as well as aggression. Izuku didn't know what to do. This was the first time he saw Touya this furious. It was terrifying. His little heart raced. It felt like it could jump out at any moment…or break. "I just…I just wanted to help," he whimpered fearfully.
"Help? Don't make me laugh." Touya spat his voice growing more vicious by the second. "You're just a quirkless runt dad feels sorry for. Why do you think he gives you so much attention? It's because you're so weak he can't ignore you like he does with everyone else."
"Touya!" Endeavour yelled in disapproval.
It was too late. The damage has been done. Izuku heart felt like in shattered into a million pieces thanks to his brother's harsh but true words. He dropped his head covering half his face in shadows. "I didn't ask to be this weak." He whispered softly. Soon enough tears ran down his face. "I wanted to help so badly... I didn't want to be a burden…hic…" Unable to contain his emotions Izuku turned around and started running. "I'm sorry!" He screamed but never turned back as he ran away.
Touya rage soon quelled at the sight of his youngest brother run away from him crying. There was a pick of guilt in his heart but that was completely stomped out by his sheer bitter rage. He had little regrets.
AN: It's things like these that makes me miss writing you Arata. Anyway, welcome to the eye of the storm everyone. You've been in here for a while. But the winds are picking up again. The calm is ending.
Also I can still put out events for the time being. Mainly because I'm ahead of schedule. I'll warn you all when I will have to disappear. I'm attempting to end off on this one event so let's see if I can made it. But thanks for the concern and good words.
Yinasuka – Thank you. They're not here yet but I am preparing the best that I can. As for Touya…yeah…
Cyber-RK18 – well you'll have to wait around to find out.
MariaHikari – (looks up at this event) well that suggestion really didn't make anything better. As for everything else. Tune in next time.
Alpha Therapy – well if Izuku's is going to do any of those he needs more confidence in himself. If last event showed one other thing beside Touya snapping, it's Izuku believing he's too weak to do anything like these.
Liziliza – (looks up at this event again) yeah, it's real sad. This was mostly your fault Endeavour.
Dreamer-Sara – to be fair season 1 is almost over. But it will be a long while before I complete my list. At least you're having somewhat fun.
Harleking31 – knowing what the next event is you'll probably like to make more.
Middernacht - …kind of a little late for that.
fencer29 – I am don't worry. I'm actually quite a head of schedule which helps enable me to continue for the time being. I just want to attempt to get to a good stopping point before I disappear for an uncertain about of time. I'll say when I definitely have too which is either next week or the week after.
Also, while stubbornness is defiantly another thing they are known for. Mainly the men. I'd argue envy is more important. It is the root cause of all their issues. Endeavour's envy of All Might. He here Rei's envy towards Izuku. Touya's envy towards Shouto cannon wise and Izuku here. You can stretch and say Nasuto is envious of his siblings for being able to try and forgive their dad. Leaving him the odd man out. And I'm sure Fuyumi is envious of normal families since that's all she ever wanted.
SilverWolf227 - (looks up at this event) yup. Next event it's going to hit.
