My choice

Once the smoke finally cleared both Izuku and Touya were sent to the ER. The two boys ended up unconscious. When will they wake up? No one was too sure. One thing they knew was that neither of them would come out of this incident unharmed. Izuku's damage was less severe only because the area of damage was not as much as Touya's. The older boy's body not only had burns that would become permanent, but parts of his skin were ripping. Most like due to the clear line of burnt dead skin to healthy skin. He needed some stitch work done to keep his skin together. Especially, around his eyes. The corners of them bleed out with thin lines. Almost like he was crying blood throughout the surgery. It was a gruesome sight for the Todoroki family. Although, the storm was cleared the fact that it even happened was concerning.

"I have some good news and some bad news." The doctor said while coming into the waiting room. A clip board in hand. "The good news is your sons are both stable. We just need to wait for them to regain consciousness. Touya has it worst but he should recover given time. However, looking into his body more closely it looked more adapt of an ice user than a fire user. I'm afraid to say he'll most like have to live with those burns."

"What about, Izuku?" Endeavour asked concerned.

The question made Rei cringe. She had to bite her lip to prevent herself form saying anything in front of unnecessary company. She could feel her blood boil higher with each second. She felt like she could burst at any minute. The thoughts of the recent event. No. Her whole sham of a marriage replayed in her head on high speeds.

"Izuku's body is completely normal. So, his burns might heal better than Touya's but the ones on his arms are severe. We did our best to heal them with the staff we have on hand but they'll most likely scar as well."

Endeavour bowed with his eyes. "I see. Thank you for your time, doctor." With that the doctor allowed himself out of the room.

That's when Rei finally snapped. "This is all your fault!" She screamed while pointing and yelling into Endeavour's face. "You're the one that pushed Touya to be your successor despite all the warning signs. Did it once cross your mind that those burns, weren't a good thing?"

"I used to get those types of burns when I was younger," Endeavour weakly defended himself. "I didn't think it would get this bad."

"Well, it did. No thanks to you."

"I'm sorry," he finally said while dropping his head shamelessly. He had a lot to be sorry for.

But it was too little too late. Rei didn't feel anything for the man' s weak and sudden apologies. She pushed at her husband's chest widening their distance. An imprint of a frost hand was left behind. "I don't want your late apologies!"

The hero allowed himself to be pushed back and bellowed back at his wife. "Then what do you want!"

Then Rei hesitated. There were many things she wanted. She wanted to get away. She wanted her children to be happy. She wanted her own happiness and safety. She wanted to put an end to all the misery she had to endure for most of her married life. It simply wasn't worth it. She doubted that it was ever worth it. "I want a divorce," She demanded.

Endeavour stepped back and stared at his wife's cold yet heated eyes. There was no way he could fight her. Soon he exhaled a deep sigh of defeat, "very well."

His head was pounding as if telling him it was time to wake up. Next came a rush of pain. Damn. Why did everything hurt so bad? His eyes were the worst as if something was jabbing them with multiple points. Slowly, he peeled them open. Touya was greet by an off-white ceiling that looked nothing like his home. This feels nothing like his bed. It was too tough. Especially this pillow. It felt so thin like ¾ of the stuffing was taken out. Soon he realised this wasn't his room. How did he get here? Why was he here? When he tried to move the pain shot throughout his body 10 times as agonising. "What the," he instinctively held his arms where most to pain originated from. They felt rough. Touya stared down as his arms and saw large patches of dried purple marks. There wrapped around his forearms like gauntlets. Their edges looked be stitched together with tread. "What happened to me?"

"Touya!" Touya jumped at the sound of his name. Sitting on a chair next to him was little Izuku already up and about. His big eyes welled up with tears. Without any warning the boy jumped him with a hug. "You're ok!"

The boy's arms were struggling his neck. The added pressure of his small body lying on top of him reopened some wounds. Or at least that's what it felt like. "Ah! Easy that hurts."

Izuku panicked and quickly jumped away from him. The boy bowed many times and cried. "I'm sorry I'm didn't mean to." Worriedly, his eyes scanned Touya's body. The pronounce scars were nothing to scoff at. Especially the ones around the bottom of his brother's eyes. It looked like he hadn't slept for days. It broke his heart. "Doesn't hurt?"

"What kind of dumb question is that? Of course, it hurts." Touya groaned with a touch of mischief. Yes, this was worse than his usual, but it's not like this type of pain was new to him. Honestly, he wanted to laugh with how absurd this whole event was. Setting himself on fire and ended up hospitalised. That can convince dad he could continue training. What a mess. Then he noticed Izuku's hands. They were completely covered with a few bandages. The edges revealed purple skin and stitch work much like his own. They travelled down the child's skinny forearm. "Izuku, your hands" Shy, the little boy tried to hide them, but it was already too late. Touya grabbed him by the arms and pulled him closer. With eyes painted with various of emotions as he inspected the hand. Soon those emotions boiled to one. Regret. "Did I do this?"

Izuku tried to protest while pulling his arm away. "No, of course not! I did this. I was the one that grabbed Touya when he was on fire."

"Idiot, what made you think that was a good idea." Touya tried to sound angry but that was near impossible when his voice cracked with a hiccup. Tears stared to from in the corners of his eyes. Their saltiness stung his wounds but that was nothing compared to the stabbing at his heart. He did this and he could never undo it.

Soon Izuku matched his brother's teary expression. He didn't like seeing him sad. It always made him sad too. "It looked like if I didn't grab you. You'd disappear. I don't want Touya to disappear."

"Stupid." Unable to contain himself Touya pulled the little boy into a hug. He never wanted to let go. Even if it hurt like hell. "Don't ever do something so crazy again."

"Don't ever set yourself on fire like that again," Izuku cried back while carefully accepting the hug.

"I won't. I won't." Touya promised. He held the small boy even tighter. A stream of tears soaked his face and the boy's shoulder. "I'm sorry."

Izuku hiccupped but then repeated the same. "It's ok. I'm sorry too."

Then the room to their room swung opened. "You two are finally awake."

"Natsuo, Fuyumi." Touya and Izuku greeted happily. Although their siblings looked anything but happy. More panicked than anything. Something clearly happened while they were unconscious.

The two of them raced to their bed side. Each one looking like they've seen the grim reaper. "We were beginning to worry you'd never wake up," Fuyumi chimed in relief. The two boys assured their sister they were fine. They needed to otherwise she properly would have cried a river for them. "Good." It was then she bonked both of them in the head. Both of them groaned rubbing the newly form bumps on their heads. Their sister had a surprisingly good arm. "Don't either of you try and do that again. You both gave me a heart attack," she scolded with tears running down her cheeks.

"Don't cry," Izuku begged with a whimper. He was going to join her soon.

"Seriously, sis, we're ok," Touya tired to reassure her again.

"Your burns say other wise dummy," Natsuo snapped not wanting to be ignored in this sibling exchange. But they needed hurry things along. They can't cry all day. Not when this was happening. "I hate to ruin this sibling moment, but we got some crazy news for you. Mom and dad are getting devoice!"

Both Touya and Izuku looked at each other confused. "What?"

The two other Todoroki siblings began explaining the rundown of what had be happening the past couple of weeks. Their parent's fight had found it's boiling point both ending in them agreeing to a divorce. Since Izuku was still young they had to careful explained to him what a divorce was. Hearing it the child wanted to cry more than a river. The thought of their family breaking like this was heart breaking. There was nothing they could do now. The decision has been made sent in stone. Their mother would be moving out and returning to her hometown up north. She made in very clear she wanted to cut all ties with Endeavour. Her aggression was uncharacteristic.

Endeavour on the other hand took a passive approach to this major affair. It was like the two of them swapped personalities. Their mother was commanding, short tempered and their father just nodding along to every one of her demands. They settled on many things quickly. The settlement, who gets what, the amount of connected they'll have after everything was done. Nearly every piece of paperwork was decided upon. There was only one query left. Who gets the kids?

Once the boys were cleared to leave the hospital the dread day came. The children were briefed beforehand about what was happening and what they'd had to do. It when on for gruelling weeks. There were meetings and answered a variety of questions that could help finish the settlement, alongside documents each of the parents provided. On the day of the final meeting, Rei and Endeavour sat on either side of a long desk. On other side was a lawyer. Looked highly professional with a polished suit. Endeavour only gets the best after all. They were typing up a storm about the day's progress. The children sat right across the lawyer huddling each other nervously. This was it. This was happening. It was both hard and easily to believe.

Once the layer was done, he cracked his fingers and set his attention at the children. They stiffened at his sharp gaze. "Alright, let's get this sorted, shall we? Looking at the files here I think should start off with Izuku and Natsuo after. Because of their young ages by law, they shouldn't be able to make a choice like this yet and give an option. They're impressionable children and needs to go to which one of you could give them the best care…"

"Why don't I get a choice?" Izuku protested. It was unfair. Just because he was youngest doesn't mean he didn't know who to pick if he was forced to choose. "It's obvious who'd best care of me anyway and that's father. He's, my choice. Mom hates me." He screamed and then rushed towards his father. He didn't wait for any permission and jumped right into the man's lap. He then began to climb his massive body and hook his arms tightly around their neck. Tears were whelming up in his eyes. He brushed them away by rubbing is face on the hero's neck. Instinctively, Endeavour held on to the boy. Warping his arms carefully around him. He expected an outcome like this. They both did. That's why he couldn't agree to give Rei all the children.

The young lawyer professionally mask cracked. "But… this isn't procedure."

"It doesn't matter." Rei interrupted coldly. He chilling gaze swept her soon to be ex-husband. Endeavour met her gaze with a solemn yet stern expression. It was most like he was lightly waring her to choose her next words carefully. Her face wrinkled in disgust. "Izuku is right. That man is better suited to taking care of him. No matter how impossible that sounds. He's not my child away. I couldn't care less what happens to him."

Izuku arms tightened at the sound of Rei's cold words. He knew it. He always did. But hearing it confirmed didn't make the rejection hurt any less. He could feel his father giving him a reassuring rub at his back. The man whispered kind words like it will all be ok. He really hoped that was true.

The lawyer coughed hoping that would ease the sudden spike of tension. "Well, if that's the case if there's no objections Izuku's care will go to Endeavour. Let's move on at acceding order. Natsuo also…"

"If Izuku gets a say in this. So do I!" Natsuo demand, slamming a hand on the desk. "It isn't even a question," he groaned. The question was a no brainer no matter how you looked at it. "My choice is obvious and it's mom. Dad doesn't like or care about me anyway so really, it's a no brainer. Mom 100%." The choice made Natsuo walked over his mother and gave her a hug. Again, another expected decision.

"But…but…Mr Endeavour," the lawyer turned to the hero. Hoping they could calm the situation. Bring some logic and order back for him. "Do you have any objections?" Unsurprisingly, the hero shook his head. There was no way he could deny Natsuo's choice. The flustered lawyer relaxed into confusion. If his clients agree then there no point in arguing. "…very well. Let's move on…Fuyumi. You're old enough to give an option. Is there a parent you'd prefer to go with?"

Fuyumi shivered at the question. Unlike Natsuo and Izuku she was quitter and looked more uncertain. No that wasn't the right word. She just didn't want to hurt anyone's feeling. For all her young life she hoped her family could have found peace. Be happy together. Yet here they were. Falling apart. In hindsight it's amazing they even made it this far. She may never get her perfect happily family, but at least they might find some sort of happiness apart. "Well, if I had to choose. My choice would be mom. I've always been closer to her than I was with dad." She sadly turned to her father. "I'm sorry, dad. Take good care of Izuku for me."

The hero nodded holding Izuku even closer. "It's ok Fuyumi," he whispered while gesturing with his head towards his soon to be ex-wife. The girl complied and walked towards her mother head hanged low.

The lawyer once again looked at the hero before continuing. "I'm assuming you have no objections?"

"Yes," Endeavour said with a nod.

They lawyer continued to type for awhile humming in deep thought. Procedures like this were usually messy and needed several sessions and people looking through the documents before any final decisions were made. But if both parents continue to be this agreeable those steps may not be needed. "Very well then."

There was only one Todoroki sibling left and they were the ones that had the most question marks. Touya stood alone on the edge of the table. He had two choices: His mother, or his father. To anyone's first glace the answer was obvious. He looked to his mother's side. She softly smiled at him while holding Natsuo a Fuyumi in each hand. Fuyumi still looked sad while watching her feet beneath the desk. When their eyes met, she forced herself to give a smile. Tying to look inviting. Natsuo was the complete opposite. Happily, smile and beckoning Touya over with a wave. The boy then glanced at his arms, now scarred beyond repair. He rubbed the rough skin nervously. Yeah, the decision was clear.

Then he turned his head to his father's side. The man refused to even look at him. Or more so he couldn't look at him. Far too ashamed of what had transpired. He just wanted to get this ordeal over with so Izuku could rest. He could tell the boy was trying to be strong, but after hearing his siblings one by own chose to leave him his heart broke further. The boy's eyes were puffed up red and there was a growing tear stain all over his shoulder. "It's ok, Izuku. It will all be over soon."

"Will Touya leave us too?" he whimpered.

"I don't know," the hero assumed half-heartedly. "If it is just the two of us, I swear I won't let you regret choosing me. I'll….do my best to provide for you."

Touya then looked way. Yes. The choice was obvious to him. He stared down the lawyer typing down a record of all that happened. He has made his choice. "I'd like to say with my father."

His sudden answer turned the whole atmosphere in the room on its head. Both sides were shocked. Mouths completely dropped on the floor. Out of all of them, Endeavour was the most surprised. He nearly fell of his own seat. Meanwhile, Izuku was grinning like there was no tomorrow. His eyes were puffed red, but they glowed with pure relief. Then there was Fuyumi and Natsuo who stared in utter disbelief. Did he just say that? Lastly, there was Rei who was more furious then surprised. "You're choosing that monster? After what he did to you!"

"I did this to myself," Touya corrected holding his scared arms. Yes, Endeavour hasn't been the greatest preanal figure to him. Yes, he can see himself living a mindlessly happy life with his mother and other siblings. Even if he's fondness for her was low at least he had the other to keep him company. Yes, his decision is probably insane. Stay with the man that cause all your problems. That sounds like a great idea, right? But that doesn't change one key detail. It made the choice was obvious. "I still want to be a hero." He stated simply. Eyes burning with absolute desire. "Father ignited this wish in me for years. I've been training towards that goal as far as I can remember. If I go with mom, I might not ever get a chance. If I stay with him, I know he can make it happen."

Panicked Endeavour stood up in protest while still carrying a very happy Izuku. "Touya, knowing your conditions. I don't think that a good idea…"

"Shut it old man!" Touya snapped back. The force was enough to put Endeavour back in his seat and place an inviable zip across him lips. The boy marched up to his father. His eyes glowing brighter with each step. Endeavour could clearly see his boy had it too. The blazing eyes of willpower. Nothing was going to change his mind. "You started this. So, you're going to help me finish it." He stomped a foot right in front of the hero. The boy grinned wickedly and pointed a finger right between their eyes. "If I can't surpass All Might. I can at least surpass you, old man."

Endeavour had to blink twice at what he was seeing. Did his son just talked down to him and claimed he'll beat him? Well, that was bold. "Touya…"

"I said shut it!"

"I'll help too," Izuku chimed it cutting the tension. He wasn't completely sure what he could do yet, but he was going to try anything and everything.

Playfully, Touya patted the child's head and turned to his mother. Her cold yes was ablaze with fury. She looked just about ready to fight. Well too bad. The choice was made, and he was going to fight for it. Once again, he faced a now very flustered lawyer. He stepped closer to his father and brother and proudly stated with a fist over his chest, "This is my choice."

AN: Yes, the thing a was building this entire time was not Rei going insane and going to a mental hospital. Or Touya becoming Dabi. No. It was the complete destruction of the Todoroki family. Before any of you fight me on this you can't deny this family is a mess and Rei and Endeavour are very incompatible. At least apart Rei can recover, and Endeavour faces the consequences of his choices. Sad about the kids though. I'm almost certain that the reason why Rei stayed in the original was for Shouto. I doubt Endeavour would give him up after losing Touya. They seemed to have a decent relationship cannon before things went down. Making her more likely to give the man a chance. Here they didn't love each other. Even if Rei wanted some form of affection from Endeavour. This was never going to end well.

Looking at everything divorce was the only option. I don't think Rei would be willing to work this relationship out with a man who did nothing when her child was burning alive, was responsible for pushing them that far and loving a child that wasn't his own more than his own kids. Proving that he can be a decent dad. Nastuo and Fuyumi as a mentioned in passing were always closer to Rei. Even when she had some break downs this hasn't changed much, and she still has some sanity left. So, they would go to her.

Say Goodbye to Rei, Nastuo and poor Fuyumi. We won't been seeing them again for a long time. Also goodbye from me for I must go now. I'm surprised I was able to make it to this stopping point but yay. I can leave having completed this section. Don't know when I'm coming back though.

Cyber-RK18 – I'm not saying it's impossible. It's not 100% since I'm still debating with myself on it.

Alpha Therapy – (me knowing who's appearing in the season 2 list and will do at least a mentioning scene of a game night) considering some factors I don't see Izuku liking video games. One he has a bias against them saying they could 'rot your brain' the only thing that makes him feel useful. Two…Natsuo…(this will make sense next event). He will not be playing but someone will and might drag him in a game. For fun than anything else. It just that I don't see Izuku being very in to pop culture not only due to the family he belongs too. Izuku is going to be very academically driven since this is the place he excels in most. Think less marvel and more Sun Tzu Art of War.

Now for America I need to dig up some of my vigilante knowledge because we do get a few hints to the America quirk system. For one they are you need different licences approved for each state. This suggest that America might be stricter in their quirk system since heroes can't be heroes for all states without approval. This suggest that civilians can't use their quirks freely. Apparently, this is also a hot debate. Hope we go to America one day in cannon. It would be fun to see Malissa and David. Also, Captain celebrity.

WolfCerberus – the scars on Izuku's face are fine they healed up since they're small. The one's on his arms however they're here to stay. He'll more or less have Dabi style arms.

fencer29 – to be fair, if Rei was there, I think both would yell at her to shut up. Making her change nothing. I was going to, but this was an even better spot and was halfway done. This is the end of this stage as the next stage is the downward aftermath. Either way this is all for now until I return.

Harleking31 – I think those chips are mostly finished now. A secondary bomb was planted by Rei to destroy the Todoroki family in half. Things should get calmer now.

Izuku was the only one thinking rotational for a plan. Also, if it wasn't made clear yet Arata's quirk or at least one of them is very sight base. That's why there's a lot of references to his eyes like the fact they glow or looking at things before moving them. Admittedly this might be my fault since I spotted a spelling error. Arata was out in the hallway trying to control a broken hose. He couldn't see Izuku, nor did he know what he was doing. So, he couldn't stop him.

Yinasuka – thank you. Hopefully you don't mind me destroying the family. This was the only logical option.

Liziliza – well the reaction was drastic… but it confirms Touya will pursue the hero path. Only more for himself than his father.

Papireaz - …I don't think many would see this one coming either.

Dreamer-Sara – this train also brings a visitor. Mr Consequences and they have a massive package for Endeavour.

A friendly dude – the energy of the last event really did seem like it kept going up and up.

Nydelok – Well hopefully you're content now since I'll be disappearing. Considering what he did Izuku's burns will be mainly on his hands.

Celestial Space – welcome. Next one's going to take a while.

Persephone-Gaia – thank you.
