"I looked so lame!"

Olivier hung his head as he made his way down the sidewalk next to his friend. He had been having a good day today. He'd aced his math test, he killed it in practice, and his mother had packed him those caramel filled cupcakes in his lunch. All things considered, it'd been pretty amazing actually.

And then he ran into Gabby.

He really didn't know what it was about Gabby that made his brain go haywire. It couldn't just be that she was pretty. He'd met plenty of other pretty girls, some of which could be very forward in their affections towards him. But there was something different about Gabby. She was so smart, and driven, and… man! His insides turned into jello when he was around her!

"Yeah, you did sort of make a fool of yourself," Beat said casually, yawning as he walked alongside him.

"Don't agree with me! You're supposed to try and make me feel better!"

"By lying to you?"

Olivier groaned again and ran his hands over his face. He didn't understand why it was so hard to talk to her. Why did he freeze up whenever she was around? All she had done was say hi to him, and he locked up like a deer in headlights. "Do you think she thinks I'm a weirdo?" he asked.

"Probably," Beat said honestly.

"Beat! C'mon man! Lie to me for once!"

Beat sighed and rolled his eyes. "Look, I don't know what you want me to say dude. You got the love bug. You're gonna act weird. It could be way worse. You could end up talking and saying something totally stupid," he reasoned. Olivier figured he had a point. No impression was better than a bad one he guessed.

Just as he was about to think his friend was leading, trying to make him not feel as bad, they heard a loud noise go off. Both the boys looked up and then saw a figure go crashing into a building nearby. "Crap, looks like the Vanguard is scrapping again," Beat said, taking a step back.

Olivier watched as a robot, who he assumed was sent by some villain or something, rushed towards the building where the figure had crashed. Before it could reach it, the figure shot back up and then knocked the robots down to the ground. Cayenne cracked her neck as she looked down at the hostile robot. "These freaking buckets of bolts are getting on my damn nerves…"

She flew down to continue the fight, and Olivier felt Beat tug on his arm. "C'mon dude, we should get out of here," he said wearily. They had both lived in Townsville long enough to know the drill at this point. Pretty much every citizen did. When stuff started going down you got out of the way. If you didn't, you were probably going to get yelled at.

Olivier was used to this back in Paris as well. When an incident had gone down and one of his parents had to take action, he was always told to find a safe place to find cover. He had gotten pretty good at it over the years too. "Right, let's get out of…" He stopped when he saw the robot fire a bream upwards.

Cayenne moved to the side and avoided it, but it kept going and hit the side of a building. It knocked quite a bit of ruble off of it, which fell down towards the street and headed towards…

"Look out!"

"Olley!"

"Hey!"

It took Olivier a moment to realize that both Beat and Cayenne had been calling out towards him. And yet another to realize why. He didn't know when exactly, but at some point he'd started rushing towards the kid who'd been running underneath the falling debris. He dived towards the child, grabbing him and rolling on the ground just as the debris crashed down.

He winced when he felt something hit his side, but then quickly got up and started running, holding the kid in his arms. "Are you okay?" he asked, looking down at him. The child's response was to let out a tearful wail, and Olivier winced. "Hey, look, it's okay. It's okay. You're fine, we're gonna be fine."

He saw a woman making his way towards him, and assumed it was the kid's mother. She quickly reached out, a relieved expression on her face as she grabbed her son. "Oh my goodness! Are you okay?!" she asked, hugging her son tightly. She looked over him, seeing that he was rattled, but no worse for wear. Then she looked towards Olivier. "Thank you! Thank you so much! Are you hurt young man?"

Olivier nodded quickly. "I'm fine, I'm just glad your… uh…" He winced and then looked down at his side. It hurt quite a bit and… was that blood? That wasn't good.

"You're hurt!"

"I'm okay, I think it's just a scratch. We should get out of here, right now..."

After Cayenne had finished putting down the robot, some of the authorities came in and started doing cleanup. Cayenne stayed back for a bit to check on everyone, and even called in someone else when she saw that Olivier had been hurt. "There you go, all better," Nia said smiling as she pulled her hand back.

Olivier smiled at the girl. "Thank you. It's like I was never even hurt," he said amazed.

Cayenne crossed her arms and looked down at him. "Look kid, I don't want to ball you out or anything. You did good jumping in to help that kid. But do me a favor and don't make a habit of it. I don't want everyone trying to play hero when something goes down, you get me?" she asked.

He nodded at her. "Believe me, I don't have any plans on doing anything like that again," he said. He hadn't even planned it the first time. He didn't know why he'd rushed in like that. He just had. It was weird. He never did anything like that back home. Maybe it was because his parents and family friends were the ones doing the hero work.

He knew them. He trusted them. He had enough faith to know no matter what happened, they would always have it covered. It wasn't like he doubted the Vanguard or anything, but… well, if it wasn't the Miraculous Holder's he supposed he just wasn't used to sitting by when someone was in trouble.

After they made sure that he, the mother and child, and everyone else in the area was okay, he started to make his way home along with Beat. His friend had been less than thrilled about what he had done. "Seriously dude, you could have gotten yourself killed! What were you thinking?" he asked, frowning.

Olivier chuckled nervously. "I really wasn't. I sort of just moved on instinct I think," he said, only to wince when Beat smacked him in the back of the head.

"This ain't the volleyball court! If you're instinct is telling you to do something stupid then ignore it for crap's sake!" Beat said scowling. He was used to him being sort of reckless, but usually it wasn't life threatening so he let it slide.

Olivier rubbed the back of his head. "Okay, okay, I get it. But what was I supposed to do? Just let that kid get crushed?" he asked.

"No…" Beat said reluctantly. "I just don't want you making a habit of it."

Before he could once again assure his friend that he wasn't planning to, he bumped into something. He stumbled back, and then looked up to see a rather tall elderly man standing before him. "Oh, I'm so sorry sir. I didn't see you there," he said quickly. "Are you okay?"

The man waved his hand and nodded. "I'm fine young man. There's no need to concern yourself with me. It was I who didn't watch where he was going," he said. He then began walking off. "You'll forgive me if I seem in a rush. I have somewhere to be. But I wish you both a pleasant day. You both seem like polite young men."

They both watched as he walked off, looking somewhat confused. There was something weird about that old guy, but neither of them could really put a finger on it. Eventually the two just shrugged and began making their way off again. They had to get home before their parents started worrying.

When Olivier did finally make it home, and let out a breath and then flopped back onto his bed. He really didn't feel like doing his homework right now. Or at all if he was being honest. But if he didn't get started on it now, he probably never would. He groaned and then reached into his backpack to grab his book, but ended up feeling something else.

He opened his eyes, then pulled out the item in question. It was a small little wooden box, and it looked sort of familiar. Very familiar actually. "Wait a second, this can't be what I think it is. No way." He opened the box, and was surprised to see a feather charm inside of it. "Nooooooo. No, no, no…" he said, about to close it right back. Before he could however, a small figure popped out of it.

"Greetings. I am Fang, the being who lives within the Wolf Miraculous," the tiny wolf-like creature said nodding towards him.

"NO!"

"Please calm yourself. I know you may be confused, but-"

"I'm not confused, like at all!" Olivier said, cutting him off. He knew there was something weird about that old man. He must have been a guardian. Had he slipped the miraculous in his bag when he wasn't looking? "Nope, nah-uh. This is a mistake, and a huge one. You can't stay here."

Fang raised an eyebrow. "Excuse me?"

Oliver sighed, running a hand over his face. "I'm sorry, that was super rude, I didn't mean it like that. I just… I know what you are. I know about the Kwami's, and the Miraculous, and everything else. I uh… I have some experience with that sort of stuff." He wasn't sure if it was okay to tell him about his parents or not. He didn't think there was anything that wrong with it, but he wanted to be safe.

Fang hummed. "Is that so? Well, this is odd, but it should make things much simpler. If you wish to transform then all you must do is say-"

"I don't wanna transform. I don't wanna be a hero, or a miraculous holder. This was a mistake," Olley said shaking his head. "I have to find that old man and give you back."

Fang looked almost insulted. "What? If you know about the miraculous, then surely you must know what a great honor being chosen is. I understand if you had reservations. One as young as yourself taking up the mantle can be intimidating. But you surely you must have-"

"I don't," Olivier said, getting up. If the guardian thought that just because his parents were heroes that he was too, he was sorely mistaken. "I promise you I'm not cut out for this. I'm not superhero material, okay? I'm just a normal kid… okay, a normal rich kid, but still. I study, I goof off, I play volleyball. I don't fight crime."

Fang frowned. "My young friend, your humility is touching, but my master saw-"

"I'm sorry," Olivier said, closing the box and heading towards the door. He knew he was being rude, but this was just… no. "I'm just not interested, and I think I should get you back to the guardian so he can get you to an actual person that is."

Fang tried to argue with him, but he rushed out of the door. "I'll be back maman, going to get some hill sprints in!" he called. Marinette looked after him confused, but let him go. Sometimes he did just get randomly riled up and had to burn off some energy exercising, so it wasn't that surprising.

Olivier didn't think he should have had to bother his parents over something like this. If he couldn't find the guardian, then he would tell them and let them take care of it. His mother being a guardian herself could probably track him down if it came to it. He headed back towards the spot where he'd bumped into the guardian, hoping that maybe he was still lurking around somewhere.

But before he could reach it, he heard a loud noise go off, followed by a scream. He slid to a stop, and then looked over and saw smoke going up into the air down the street. "Oh man, that probably isn't good…" he muttered.

"This is a young one, your call to action!" Olivier jumped when Fang appeared beside him. "There are people in danger, people within your reach! Call upon my fangs to aid you, and rush to their side!"

The boy looked nervous. "What? No, I don't have to do that. There are other heroes here in the city. They'll be here soon. They… they always show up on time," he said hesitantly. He had no idea what was going on, and it wasn't his place to jump in and mess things up even more.

"Perhaps they will," Fang agreed, giving him a stern look. "But are you willing to take such a chance? Before it was understandable. You had no means to truly prevent such things. but now that you have the power to act, are you content to simply sit on the sidelines and watch?"

Olivier frowned. "It's not like I asked for this! And I don't think it's fair that you're trying to guilt me into this!" he argued.

Fang looked at him for a moment, opened his mouth, and then paused again. "Perhaps… perhaps you're right. It's quite unfair of me to demand such things of you so soon. You are young, inexperienced, and understandably afraid." Olivier would have been insulted if it wasn't actually true. "Very well. If you have faith these other heroes will arrive before any true damage is done, I will trust your judgement. Whether you choose to wield me or not, I am still your partner for the time being."

Olivier wasn't sure if he was trying to trick him or something. Maybe this was him using reverse psychology. It didn't seem like it. It seemed genuine. It wasn't like he wanted to disappoint the little guy, but he just… he couldn't do this.

He heard another scream, and turned back towards the source of the commotion. It was fine, he thought as his hand shook nervously. The Vanguard would be here soon, and they would stop whoever needed to be stopped, or rescue whoever needed to be rescued. There was no need for him to get involved.

He heard another scream.

Nope, none at all.

The security guards of O'Neil Tech ducked behind cover to avoid the string of arrows, vines, and lasers shot their way. Two of them were injured, one having been hit with an arrow in the shoulder, while the other had been knocked back into a wall and hit his head. The others were firing at the attackers, but to no avail.

Delta casually walked through the lobby, having claimed the prize they were looking for. With her team pinning down security and causing as much commotion as they were, it had been a simple task for her to move in and steal the piece of Kraang technology the company had recovered during a recent incident in New York.

And now that they had what they wanted, it was about time to wrap things up before the Vanguard arrived and tried to get in their way. "Anti, let's take our leave."

"Yes Victress!"

He fired another arrow, which exploded into a smoke screen over nearby the security guards. They coughed as they struggled to find their way out of the pitch black cloud, and Delta began making her way towards the exit. The rest of her team followed, but then stopped when another figure stood in front of the door.

Delta raised her eyebrow. "Well, what do we have here?"

The figure was obviously a young man. It was hard to get an exact guess on his age, but he was clearly a teenager. He wore a sleek solid silver suit that had fur on it's wrist and ankles, and wore a silver mask over a pair of sharp green eyes. His hair was pitch black and spiky, and he had a set of rather sharp teeth. His getup was obviously wolf themed, given the wolf-like ears and tail he had on, as well as the claws on his hands.

The figure said nothing. He just stood there, staring at them. He looked over towards the puff of smoke, which was starting to clear up. Then he noticed the unconscious guards on the floor. He frowned and narrowed his eyes.

"You hurt them…"

Delta scoffed. "Hardly. We knocked them out. Which is what we're planning on doing to you if you don't get out of our way." She had no idea who this person was. He certainly wasn't an alley. Drake would have notified her if they'd have gotten any new members, and he certainly would have told her if he was sending her back up.

But she knew he wasn't a part of the Vanguard either. And she would rather not waste time on someone if she didn't have to. "Step aside, we don't have time to deal with you," she said, pointing her lance at him threateningly.

Olivier looked back towards her, a frown on his face. He'd told himself that this wasn't any of his business. That he had no business being here. But when he'd heard that second scream, something inside of him just urged him to make his way over. He couldn't bring himself to just stand there when he could do something. Even though he really wanted to, something compelled him to do otherside.

So he'd called on Fang, transformed, and made his way over here. And now? Now he was facing down five villains. If he somehow survived this, he was sure Beat was gonna kill him when he found out.

"No," he said, holding his hand out. "You're not going anywhere. You're going to wait here until the Vanguard arrive and answer for what you've-"

Something came shooting towards him, and it was only through sheer reflex that Olivier had managed to move his head out of the way of the arrow before it struck him in the face. "You're a naive one, aren't you?" Delta asked, rolling her eyes. "Take him down."

"Gladly…"

Robert rushed at him, a smirk on his face as he grew into his monster form. Olivier looked panicked he moved out of the way right as Robert swung down at him, narrowly avoiding the blow. He slid to a stop, only to see a blast coming at him from his side. He jumped straight up and out of the way of Lifen's shot, and they all looked surprised at how much air he got.

Olivier himself was just as surprised at how high he went with a single leap. He'd never been able to jump even half this high in a game. But he didn't have much time to enjoy it. Something latched around his ankle, and he looked down to see that Adam had shot out a vince and caught him. "Robert," Adam yelled as he pulled Olivier from the air and swung him over towards his teammate.

Robert cocked his arm back and swung, nailing Olivier right in the chest and sending him flying. He crashed through the wall nearby, and Robert smirked. "Loser…"

Delta crossed his arms. "Now that that annoyance is out of the way, we can-"

"I'm okay!" Everyone turned back over and saw that the masked figure was back on his feet, and didn't seem any worse for wear. No one was more surprised than Olivier however. He had been in full panic mode before Robert had punched him, but… it didn't hurt. Not as much as it should have anyway.

He thought his entire chest would be caved in from the blow, but it was just sore, and even then the pain was fading. So this was how his parents were able to take so many hits from super villains. The invulnerability Miraculous gave were amazing. "Not for long you're not!"

He snapped out of his thoughts when Lifen started firing at him. Olivier began scrambling to avoid the blasts, genuinely impressed that he was able to do so. His reflexes had been sort of honed through sports, but he had never been this quick or agile before. "Enough of this…" Delta said, looking annoyed. They needed to deal with this pest before the real heroes arrived.

She rushed in towards him, twirling her weapon around before swing. Olivier panicked, stepping back and trying to move away from her. He was only barely keeping out of her range, and then he felt his back hit a wall. With him now cornered, Delta went in to strike him in the chest. Olivier instantly raised his hands, trying to shield himself from the blow. But it never came.

Something had appeared within each of his hands, stopping the laser lance dead in its tracks. Olivier looked down at batons in his hands. Right, these had to be his weapons. He hadn't thought to check for them earlier. Delta had been surprised by the sudden appearance of them as well, and Olivier quickly took the chance to try and attack.

He lifted his foot and kicked at her, but she raised her arm and blocked the blow. She was pushed back far further than either had expected, and winced as the pain she now felt in her arm. He was sloppy, and clearly an amatuer when it came to combat. But he was strong. Who in the world was this boy?

"Victress," Anti said, looking concerned.

Delta ignored his worry. "Attack pattern theta," she said. Given enough time she could easily take this boy down without resorting to the rest of her team, but she was on a time table. The others all nodded, and quickly all began to move towards Olivier.

He raised his weapon to defend himself as Robert charged in, but then quickly had to turn his attention to the arrows that came flying at him. He managed to knock them away with his batons, but Robert tackled him with his shoulder, sending him tumbling back. He groaned, but then gasped when he felt something tug on his ankle again.

Adam had snaked another vine around him, which Robert grabbed and used to begin spinning him around. He laughed before slamming Olivier back down onto the ground, and then Lifen took aim again. "Look out behind you kid…" She pulled the trigger of her weapon, and Olivier was about to try and jumped out of the way.

But then he heard a groan behind him.

The security guards.

They were right behind him.

He couldn't dodge.

He planted his feet and raised the baton, taking the blast with a grunt. He was pushed back a bit, but managed to hold his ground. That didn't make the blast any less painful though. Lifen had turned the power up just a bit after he hoped up from Robert's punch. It wasn't like he couldn't take it.

The others watched as Lifen kept the attack up, and when it finally came to an end, Olivier dropped down to one knee and started struggling to catch his breath. Delta walked over, getting ready to knock him out and put an end to this. "A valiant but fruitless effort. I don't know if your a rookie or new in town, but either way-"

"You did a good job holding out dude!"

A blur speeding in, crashing right into Delta and sending her flying. Seth smirked as he cracked his neck and raised his fist. "Sorry for being a little late. These guys planned a little distraction and we didn't… wait, who are you?" Seth asked looking down at him.

"I'm uh… still working on that."

Seth looked confused, but then Lifen raised her weapon and got ready to fire at them both. But before she could pull the trigger, another blur came by and kicked it out of her hands. "That's rude!" Persi said, frowning towards her.

"Shit, the Vanguard's here!" Robert cursed.

Delta was about to order them to go into another attack pattern, but then she felt something snatch the device off of her belt. She looked down but saw nothing. "Sorry about that, you just had your guard down and I couldn't resist." Envie suddenly floated up from the ground, a smirk on her face. She was tossing the device up and down in her hand. "Is this important? Because it just looked really important. Please tell me it is."

Delta glared at the ghost girl and made her way over to take it, but then a portal opened up behind Envie. She tossed the device back behind it. "Oops, my hand slipped," Envie said, shrugging her shoulder. A figure suddenly walked out of the portal, and Delta's scowl only deepened as she saw Astro step out. "Hey Astro, these are the ones who kidnapped Sear, right?" she asked. Astro's eyes turned black, and let out a growl. "Yeah, I thought they were… sick 'em."

Astro charged towards Delta with fury in his eyes, and Robert rushed in and tried to intercept in. He punched Astro across the face, but the prince swung right back, knocking him back and sending him tumbling against the ground. He continued after Delta, but then Adam shot a vine out to slow him down.

"Yoink!"

Seth caught the vine in mid air, running back towards Adam and speeding around him to tie him up with his own vine. Adam spun around a few times, looking dizzy. Seth pushed him over onto the ground as Anthony took aim towards him. He was knocked back however from a blast Envie sent his way.

"Zuri, kill the lights! Anthony, cover! We're falling back!" Delta shouted. The lights suddenly all shut off, and Anthony shot another smokescreen arrow down at the ground. Delta was more than a bit irritated that they'd lost the objective, and even more so at how much the tide turned against them. But there was no more point in staying here.

Seth began spinning around, gathering all the smoke around him in a twister and leading it outside. Unfortunately by the time thing had cleared up, Delta and the others were gone. "Damn it…" Astro muttered, gritting his teeth.

"Hey, don't sweat it. We stopped them from getting what they wanted. That counts for something," Envie said before turning over towards Olivier. "And we helped out… sorry, I didn't get your name."

Olivier looked back at her confused. "Uh… I didn't really think of one." He hadn't planned to either. He hadn't planned any of this. "Thank you by the way. I was pretty in over my head."

Seth walked up beside him. "I don't know. I think you held your own pretty well against them. I know how tough those guys are. Holding out by yourself is pretty impressive." The White Maiden and her gang probably weren't the strongest in the Youngblood, but those guys' teamwork was a pain to deal with.

"Thanks I guess. But I really don't want to make a habit of tangling with them," Olivier said, shaking his head. "I shouldn't have this time. I was just passing by and… I should get out of here. You guys have this handled."

"Hey, wait a sec," Envie said, stepping towards him. "You are a hero right? Are you new in town? Or just like new in general? If so, how about you think about joining the Vanguard League. We could always use some more help against the Youngblood, and it'd give you a better chance to find your footing."

Olivier looked hesitant. He didn't want to come off as rude, but he couldn't see himself trying to join those guys. His beatdown to those villains just now proved it. "I'm sorry, but I think I'm better off on my own. I really don't want this to happen again." He took off before they could say anything back, feeling his heart almost beat out of his chest.

"You did well for your first battle, young one."

"I almost got killed!"

Olivier leaned against the edge of a roof, his heart still beating pretty rapidly from what had happened. He wasn't sure if it was fear, adrenaline, or both. "You're exaggerating. I admit that you need more practice with you abilities, but all in all-"

"I got my butt kicked," Olivier said, hanging his head. "If the Vanguard hadn't showed up, I would have been done for. Those security guards would have been done for. I'm not cut out for this. I need to find the guardian and give you back. You need to be with someone who can actually do the job."

Fang zipped in front of him, an angry look on his face. "I already am!" he said looking irritated. "Listen here! I cannot force you to take up the mantle! That is your, and your choice alone! But I will not sit here and let your undersale what you've done today! You helped stop criminals! You protected people! You did well!"

Olivier looked up at him surprised. He seemed really angry. "But-"

"No buts!" Fang said, poking his forehead.

The boy reached up and rubbed his forehead. He had a lot of force behind him for a creature with such a tiny body. Tiki and Plagg had never hit him or anything like that before. "Just because my parents are heroes doesn't mean-"

"Your parents are heroes?"

Olivier raised an eyebrow. "What? Yeah, you know that don't you. The guardian knew that. That's why he chose me, isn't it?" he asked.

Fang narrowed his eyes. So, that explained how he knew what he was already. His parents must have been miraculous wielders as well. "My master had no such knowledge. His choice was based on your actions earlier today. Your choice to come to the aid of the child. It had nothing to do with your parents."

"What?" Olivier asked. "You're kidding me. He chose me because of that? That… that wasn't anything. I just ran in without thinking and got hurt. Anybody could have done that."

"Anybody could have. But you did," Fang pointed out. "You seem like a kind young man Olivier. And you understand the weight of the mantle given to you. I believe you have the makings of a hero. But again, I cannot force you to walk the path. For now, all I will ask is that you allow me to stay at your side until you find the guardian. If by the time you come across him again you still feel like you're unworthy of this burden, I will accept your decision."

Olivier looked down at Fang. The kwami sounded genuine, but Olivier couldn't help but feel he was overestimating him. Still, the fact that he was saying this told him tracking down the guardian would be a lot harder than it sounded. So he really didn't see the point in saying no to him. "Okay. That's fair I guess… but I don't plan on being a hero, so don't count on me doing anything like that again."

Fang smiled and nodded towards him. "Of course," he said. Though his tone said that he was sure they would indeed be fighting crime once more.

Olivier leaned his head back, and then let out a breath. "I have to tell my parents about you," he said bluntly.

Fang eyes widened. "What? No! I know you may trust them, but there are certain rules that go along with being a miraculous holder! Your parents may be heroes, but-"

"Fang, buddy, trust me. It won't matter if my parents know. You'll get it when you meet them. I couldn't hide you even if I tried…"

A/N: Another one-shot for Olivier... I'm having too much fun writing for him lol. Anyway I thought it would be cool to introduce how he got Fang and became a miraculous holder. He was really doubtful about being a hero when he started.
